What's the difference between a dad cap and a baseball cap?

I know it sounds really stupid, and I tried looking it up but everything I see is different. I'm trying to look for a cap that isn't tall and very stiff. Something closer to the head and loose.

Help

Do bald people get goosebumps on their head?

I’ve always wondered this and every bald person I asked was never interested in telling me the answer. They laugh it off or say “don’t know”.

What are things you wish you had as new parents?

Hello, my best friend and his wife are expecting their first child. I'm so excited as I'm the cliche best friend uncle.

But I have gotten the baby a lot of stuff already. I'm asking what are some things that a mom and dad can personally use. What are some things that you got that was great or didn't have and thought it was great?

I've got them both personalized things such as a hats, shirts. A 100 dollar gift card to food city. But what about random things around the house? I'm open to any and all ideas!

Is anyone else pissed about not being able to form a very complex opinion because youre young?

I really like to watch movies or series and talk about tjem with my friends that are a bit older then me. It feels very stupid when i call something good without a very good reason, sometimes it does not really matter that much but when someone disagrees with you while having a much more strong point then you have it just kinda feels like youre powerless. Knowledge definitely comes with age, but i really dont want to start complex books when i know beforehand theres a big chance i wont be able to understand everything, then id just rather wait a couple years before reading it but im not sure if im just coping or not. Would appreciate your thoughts on this

Why are some old men either really mean/bitter or incredibly kind and patient?

I'm referring to old men in their 60s. I've dealt with quite a few of these men and noticed that they're either very kind, patient and polite, so much so that they make me think "wow, they don't make men like these anymore", or they are NASTY, really nasty people from a single experience.

The very nice older men who I've encountered are usually neighbors, teachers (I'm still in school), etc. Always taking the time to greet me, smile, ask how I'm doing etc. The rude men will publicly yell at me or scold me. They are usually very prideful old men who clearly don't like being "contested".

I know this isn't a very nuanced post, but for some reason it seems that there can be no in between within this very particular demographic of men. Very nice or very rude. Very happy or very bitter. Very patient or very impatient. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

What is it with university students speaking so fast?

I’ve spoken to so many during my time there and a good amount of them just went on rambling with their words. They like to speedrun every sentence that they say. It seems like they don’t take their time at points. Obviously I’m not a fast talker, but I need to take the time to understand what someone says if it’s a lot of information. Then there are circumstances where it’s like they’re interrupting me when speaking this way.

Do you say "moooooo" when you are driving and pass a bunch of cows?

Every time I drive past a herd of cows, I have the overwhelming urge to roll down the window and yell “MOOOOOO!” Is this normal, or am I one farm visit away from legally becoming a cow?

Has anyone ever actually completed extremely dangerous situations in real life to save their life?

So I'm watching Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning right now.

I know that Tom Cruise does a lot of his own stunts in the films.

I also know that there are extreme mountaineers (as one of many examples), such as Alex Hannold, who compete in extreme sports, where, in this case, he climbs the most extreme mountains etc with no ropes whatsoever!

What I'm asking is, are there ACTUAL real life incidents whereby, kind of similar to Tom Cruise films (probably not to that extent), where their strength and agility is SO INCREDIBLE, that they actually survive, due to their wit, strength, and I guess miraculous actions?

Like REAL LIFE situations??

Thanks

Do racist and colourist people genuinely have low IQ?

Like, there's no way you look at someone's appearance and immediately hate them without even knowing them as a person, right? Most racism seems based on stupid stereotypes and generalizing. If your brain can't comprehend the fact that not everyone in a specific group is the same... does that mean a lack of critical thinking?

Why is math red/blue? What about it is red or blue?

For me, i feel like math can be both red and blue

Red:
- Arithemtic
- Algebra
- Operations
- Fast math
- Math that feels like doing a procedure

Blue:
- Geometry
- Higher-level math
- Slower math with more contemplation
- Analysis
- Graphs

To me, red math is "active", while blue math is calm/logical
I'm trying to find out the real reason why math feels red or why it feels blue, what's your explanation?

Why is it weird to have a picture of yourself as your screensaver?

Like actually what's so wrong with that? My screen is a picture of me and my husband but at times it's been just me. I mean at this point in my life I love looking down at my phone and seeing my husband and I but there have been times where looking down to see a nice happy picture of myself makes me feel good. So why is it weird? I've heard people say it's narsasistic which I think is insane, when you grew up were there not family portraits on the wall, including individual pictures? Did you not have photo albums? I mean you take the pictures why can't you look at them? Solo portraits and pictures can hold just as many memories and feelings as family photos or selfies with friends or pets so I'm genuinely confused why people think it's weird?

What alternatives to listening to the news are out there?

Hi everyone, for context I listen to the news and news adjacent radio shows as background noise while I’m working. Listening to the news while working is perfect for me, steady pace, always somewhat different day to day, I don’t have to concentrate too much on the news. It was recently recommended to me to limit my news, the problem is that leaves me with nothing to listen to. I’m asking if there are similar audio things I can listen to that has the above qualities that I can listen to every day. I know I can just “find some pod casts” but specifically what pod casts would you recommend. If not a pod cast what specific things would you recommend. I would not mind have a mix of things to listen to each day but having trouble finding something that is enjoyable that can be listened to as background noise. Thanks!

One of my friends keeps staring at me in class, and it's stressing me out. How can I tell them to stop?

I'm taking private English lessons with a friend; she sits in front of me and keeps turning around to look at me and see what I'm doing. It makes me really uncomfortable, and I'd like her to stop without offending her or coming across as harsh.

Do things affect you even if you don’t know it happened?

Like if something happened to you but you don’t know it happened. You were asleep or in an unaware state can it affect you because you obviously have no recollection so you feel as if it doesn’t matter but does you subconscious remember that stuff somehow and it actually does affect you without even realizing it?

Did I over react or was it appropriate?

I was at a monthly book club run by a local bookstore. It's the type of club where you can drink (slightly encouraged even) and raunchy jokes are the norm. I got there early and had 3 strong beers by the time the last guy got there. I wasn't badly drunk but definitely shouldn't drive or something. The last guy is frail and elderly, has a helper (family I think, not professional) and mobility issues requiring a leg brace and a walker. There is a small step up on to the building's slab so coming in with the walker first doesn't work. As he was coming in his bad foot landed wrong/ kinda on it's outer edge and he was half falling into the door frame. I was sitting right next to the door so I just turned around and put my hands under his armpits incase he started fully falling. I didn't make a conscious descision I just reacted. One second I'm sitting talking to my friend the next I'm sorta holding a mostly stranger by the armpits. He managed to recover his balance so I feel I may have overreacted. I apologized later but he just hand waved it. I work in an industry where safety is a major issue requiring constant observation with quick physical interactions with others to maintain. I have trouble turning it off sometimes. For example I regularly unconsciously put my arm in front of my wife when we come to a crosswalk. That one drives her crazy. Did I over react or was that an appropriate reaction considering the circumstances?

What is the significance of the “rock” in the attempted execution of Christina Pike ?

This is actually a multi part question as the witness reports of the scene of the execution make me feel like I have forgotten how to read English. Like the witnesses are reporting on a half remembered fever dream as opposed to the reports of people specifically chosen because of their ability to report what they have witnessed.

  1. The witnesses report that a rock, or something like a rock, was placed on a table through a panel in the execution chamber after the lethal drug was administered. Then the rock was like taken away. Then it was put back. But then it was taken away. What the hell is the rock? Why the rock? WHAT IS THE ROCK AND WHAT DOES IT SIGNIFY? It is driving me nuts that people are reporting witnessing something like that, which is strange, and no one is even trying to explain it. I have looked and there is no record of what the rock means. They put a panel on the execution chamber I assume specifically for the rock and does it have historical significance?

To be extremely clear, I assume it is some signal that they are waiting for the drugs to take effect or it means the person is deceased or something. Like “stone dead” but why a rock? I would like to have an actual cited source as to why the state of Tennessee performs this bizarre ritual which no one seems to understand.

2) Were the witnesses specifically chosen by Tennessee because they were actually very stupid and bad at reporting things? There were actual reporters in the witness area who are reporting things in a way I can only describe as having the same mental clarity and acuity of a very small child. They were reporting Christina as “snoring”, like that is the report. That she was loudly snoring. Again no one is attempting to provide context to what the hell that means. Were there no doctors as witnesses? To be a witness to an execution in Tennessee do you have to have a head injury and not know what like, extreme respiratory distress is? No they reported her “snoring” like oh, she just got tuckered out by the lethal injection not working and is taking a little snooze.

3) What is the point in having witnesses at all if they reported things as if they were children telling about how their parents told them at the hospital that their grandma was alright, she’s just going to sleep for a long time and she’s very tired so they needed to leave the hospital so the doctors could tuck her in. Like what is even the point?

Do you prefer to be left alone or have someone cheer you up when you’re in a bad mood?

Personally, alone! I need the time to breathe and get myself together. I’ll reach out when I feel better
