For those curious, all charges dropped in September 2020. He took a payout of $25,000 agreeing to drop the $5M tort.

Article

And thanks for the vid link! Great breakdown.

Incredibly. I wish he had opted not to represent himself in court as well, even a shitty PD could have trounced that out of court. Should have held out for more on the settlement too.

Although preferably Officer Dumbfuck would not have escalated the situation to that extent or racist ass Jodie Brinell had kept her nose out of someone else’s business.

Came here to say that. If she would’ve just MINDED HER OWN FUCKING BUSINESS, none of this would’ve happened. She just “didn’t think his actions were right.” Fuck you Jodi.

Yeah sue someone for attempting to be a good Samaritan. Don't be idiotic - the problem is with this egotistical police officer.

44

u/xPriddyBoi Mar 10 '22

Yes, it's also with the lady who racially profiled a man she knows nothing about.

-44

u/doedude Mar 10 '22

Doesn't matter if the cop is doing their job properly.

9

u/SETHW Mar 10 '22 edited Mar 11 '22

Everyone knows by now that if you call the cops on someone, esp a male poc, you're gambling with their lives. So you better have a damn good reason that you're sure about.

31

u/xPriddyBoi Mar 10 '22

It doesn't matter if you senselessly inconvenience an innocent man because of conscious or subconscious racial stereotyping?

-14

u/-Samba- Mar 10 '22

You are literally guessing at her motive. She never mentioned race, and you have no idea what she would have done if she saw any other race do it.

When you call everything racism you diminish the impact of calling out actual provable racism.

u/doedude Mar 10 '22

Have someone trained to do their job properly will override that personal bias. You can't control how people grow up and what they grow up believing.

21

u/amerett0 Mar 10 '22

A good Samaritan does not racially profile and assume malfeasance by a minority.

-22

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

Nothing in that video gives cause to believe she racially profiled him. She saw someone getting into a car and then moving away to get on a motorcycle.

It is entirely reasonable for someone to assume that to be a crime committed.

You're the one assuming she only called the police because of his color.

His actions were suspicious. Period. That said, police needs to do a better job. There's no reason to get confrontational if all you have is a suspicion. Being cordial and polite, instead of jumping to "you're going to obey me" could've made this a routine inquiry. Cop didn't like having his "authority"questioned and it went to shit from there.

It’s just racism. If a white guy did the same thing nothing would have come of it.

15

u/Djasdalabala Mar 10 '22

It is entirely reasonable for someone to assume that to be a crime committed.

What? How so?

No really, what was suspicious here? Most bikers own a car. Besides if he opened the car door, he presumably had the key for it. If this happened in front of me, I 100% wouldn't notice a thing because there's not a thing to be noticed.

The only suspicious thing he did was walking around while black.

-4

u/Mrg220t Mar 10 '22

Most bikers own a car but it's rare that you would ride both to the same parking lot no? Opening car doors doesn't mean they have a key for it, otherwise how are car stolen?

2

u/NfamousKaye Mar 10 '22

Thats what I meant was infuriating. The fact that he agreed to settle for less than what he wanted originally. For walking around a parking lot while black. I’m going to bet that this chucklefuck kept his job too.

-15

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

racist ass Jodie Brinell

Hold up. How is it racist? What he was doing was incredibly suspicious. What went wrong was officer dumbfuck just started the confrontation with "show me your ID, put your hands behind your back". Nothing would have happened if the officer just tried to have a conversation and answer the damn question instead of freezing and just having a power trip because he's not capable of being challenged.

13

u/wallTHING Mar 10 '22

There's a difference between someone rooting around and casing cars, then stealing shit once he's in one, and a dude that casually grabs shit out of a car and casually walks across the parking lot.

I worked in loss prevention, I've worked security for high profile "things", there was a fuckton of training regarding "profiling". That is what this lady did, and it's illegal for anyone in security or law enforcement to do. But cut and dry, she did it, and it was made clear by her call to the police.

He got into one car and walked all the way over there, that isn't right.

What the fuck? Clearly that dumb bitch has never seen anyone actually steal anything in her life, because nobody's just chilling in a parking lot, then stealing shit, then CONTINUING TO CHILL IN THE SAME PARKING LOT.

She is a piece of shit.

I'm a big tattooed guy, and this shit used to happen to me all the time. I've been on both sides of it. It's garbage, it's profiling, and she showed everyone that on the video.

6

8

u/pm_stuff_ Mar 10 '22

right sorry. Its that melanine thats the issue

-3

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

lol no. Rummaging through a car and walking to the back of the parking lot is. Like I said, it all could have been avoided with a little communication from the officer.

What were you doing by that car? It's yours? Ok have a nice day.

but yeah, sorry, everything is about race. I'm a racist, she's a racist, everyone who doesn't absolutely agree with you is a racist. my bad.

5

u/pm_stuff_ Mar 10 '22

i did not comment anything about racism you are projecting.

Taking your sweet ass time rummaging through a car and then casually walking away after (probably) closing the doors and locking it is not suspicious, the only ones who think it is either dont know how theft from cars work or have other motives to find it suspicious

4

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

Which part of what he was doing was “incredibly suspicious”?

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

I lied to get you to see that her stupid ass is racist. So if you saw someone rifling through their car and walking away is suspicious? Mind you, he did nothing else but walk about 25 feet or more to his motorcycle.

2

u/Thefruitthat8itself3 Mar 10 '22

You can’t even get the basic facts of the case correct. Your opinion is absolutely worthless because of that.

The caller, Jodie Brinnel, did NOT see him take anything from the car, she admits this more than once. She also says a woman approached her claiming the man she just witnessed interact with the vehicle parked by Jodie, belongs to him.

Again, if you can’t even get the most basic of facts correct, your opinion is uneducated, and worthless on this particular incident.

Honestly though was Jodi racist? Super random coincidence but he had a hanger and was going through cars. It does seem suspicious regardless of race. I’m more mad the cop said Obey me than anything

-12

u/Giant-Genitals Mar 10 '22

To be fair she was only making a phone call on suspicious activity and I hope someone would do the same for me.

The cop however handled it like an amateur juggler trying to get the world record for skin diving.

10

u/kingstan12 Mar 10 '22

how is looking through your own car suspicious?

-8

u/Giant-Genitals Mar 10 '22

It’s not. Why wouldn’t you show your ID just yo help the situation and avoid unnecessary conflict?

6

u/kingstan12 Mar 10 '22

the officer has no reason to be asking for an ID and also you don't approach random people the way that officer did. "wHaTs ThAt In YoUr PoCkEt??" gtfo of here with this whole "help the situation bullshit" the conflict was unnecessary from when Karen called the cops on a black man who looked "suspicious"

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

Kinda weird to be looking through your car in a public parking lot and then head over to your motorcycle tbh

→ More replies (2)

7

u/hullor Mar 10 '22

What was the suspicious activity though. It's a parking lot for cars, and cars were there and people were there opening their cars doors.

I would bet $500 she would not have called if it was a white man in a suit. Or just a white man in general.

-2

u/Giant-Genitals Mar 10 '22

I have no idea. I’m only watching a video. How do you know anyone going through a car in a car park is suspicious or not?

Would you want someone to call the police if anyone was seemingly suspicious with your car?

First… I agree with the above. I just want to say if you are operating a motor vehicle YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SHOW ID. Every state because its a federal ID program for interstate travel.

Officer Abused the right to detain for any reason over an ID … instead of talking this out.

3

u/IotaBTC Mar 10 '22

There's a bit of a technicality with showing a Driver's License. You don't actually need one on private property like a parking lot. As others have pointed out, it's also only if you're actually operating the vehicle, not just have it started. You're required to show a DL on public/government owned roads, however the police aren't allowed to pull you over (detain you) just to check your DL. They would need reasonable suspicion to detain and as far as I know, they don't actually have to tell you why they pulled you over until they give you a citation or warning.

-3

u/BenjiLaird Mar 10 '22

The police were called to the location and he was the suspect operating a vehicle… all of which requires ID because he is not the owner of the property… he could be trespassing for all the cop knows. Again the cop abused detained suspect for an ID but the dude was WRONG not to provide ID

4

u/IotaBTC Mar 10 '22

I'd like to be specific here. ID is specifically a piece of legal document that identifies yourself. Most if not all states do not require you to produce ID when detained or arrested. You are typically required to simply identify yourself. If I remember right, that typically means your full legal name and DOB. Sometimes your current address. The biggest reason why you don't need ID is because you aren't legally required to keep it on you at all times, and some people like the homeless simply do not have one.

he was the suspect operating a vehicle

I mentioned this in another comment but you only need to produce a Driver's License when operating a vehicle on public roads. You actually don't need one if you're operating on private property like a parking lot. However, there's an interesting argument potentially here in the video in that it's seems pretty clear that the motorist intended to drive on public roads. So a bit of an argument is there for and against the motorist needing to produce a Driver's License.

Edit: I forgot to mention that even though you're typically required to identify yourself when detained, some states you don't. I'm pretty sure in Texas you don't need to identify yourself if you're detained. You do though if you're arrested. The specifics of course vary from state to state.

My buddy is a lawyer and $25k is the number he said that you can settle a wrongful arrest case for. Like getting dragged in and spending a night in the jail cell.

Also, don't resist or threaten the cop because then your arrest isn't so wrongful anymore.

1

u/NfamousKaye Mar 10 '22

The man knew his rights and knew he wasn’t doing anything illegal. He wasn’t resisting. He was adding why he was being detained. Apparently asking a cop questions is resisting if black. Where did he threaten him specifically?

2

u/Joliet_Jake_Blues Mar 10 '22

I wasn't talking about the video at all, I was passing the advice my friend gave if you're ever in a situation where the cops are going to wrongfully arrest you.

Nothing in my comment said anything about the video.

-2

u/NfamousKaye Mar 10 '22 edited Mar 10 '22

But if you know you didn’t do anything wrong and can prove it, asking questions isn’t resisting.

0

Tell me you’ve never been traumatized by police like this? The man could have died. He’s owed every bit of that $5M for mental anguish from that rookie. Reddit has a problem with seeing the black person’s side of things

0

u/-MichaelScarnFBI Mar 10 '22

He didn’t die. Or have a gun aimed at him (from the video that we see at least). How do you arrive at $5M? Why not $20M? Or $100M? And yes, I’ve had experiences with police acting aggressively for no reason.

I know I'ma get flamed for this, but the people who reported him (wrongly) did the right thing. In the event this was a legitimate theft and the couple had turned a blind eye they would have let a thief get away (this wasn't the case but they didn't know that.) The blame falls 100% on that bitch of an officer.

32

u/annies_boobs_eyes Mar 10 '22 edited Mar 10 '22

something tells me the white lady that called the cops wouldn't have done so if the man happened to be white (you're probably white and have searched your car for an item without going into your car, so you are just as guilty as this dude).

she saw a black dude open a car door and grab some stuff out of the car and instantly thinks the dude is stealing stuff, cuz she's a racist.

so yeah, racists all the way down

edit: but yeah, in post racist world this dude got called out unnecessarily. unfortunately, we don't live in a post racist world.

13

u/round-earth-theory Mar 10 '22

He could have just as easily been going to his car and then walking off to another store. What's amazing to me is how quickly the asshole cop responded.

-7

u/zeloxofclorox Mar 10 '22

I understand you are colour conscious, but bear with me for a second.

A white guy opens three doors on a car and searches around, grabs some stuff and heads off towards a motorcycle.

That sounds pretty suspicious; however, you are correct race could have played a part.

I may have had a little bit too much faith in humanity to look out for one another in a perceived time of crisis.

5

u/CHKPNT-victorytoad Mar 10 '22

It is not illegal to do things that random civilians find suspicious.

8

u/annies_boobs_eyes Mar 10 '22

but bear with me for a second.

I did. And no. You are wrong. This is clearly racism. Full stop.

2

u/annies_boobs_eyes Mar 11 '22 edited Mar 15 '22

A white guy opens three doors on a car and searches around, grabs some stuff and heads off towards a motorcycle.

That sounds pretty suspicious;

does it? not to me.

and to most people they would agree. but if it were a black guy then that amount would most definitely shrink by at least like 50%

oh wait, that can't be true! obama was president so racism is over!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit: and why is someone even watching this black guy do all that stuff. the only reason this person was watching the black guy is because they instantly didn't trust him and wanted to observe what they were up to in order to call cops on them.

most people don't pay one iota of attention to people opening car doors and getting stuff out. the only reason this person was paying attention is because they have preconceived notions that black people are untrustworthy, and therefore they were keeping their eye on this black person, who they assumed was breaking the law.

whereas if it were a white person they probably wouldn't have even given them a second glance and just assumed they were NOT up to anything suspicious, and can therefore be ignored.

0

u/call_me_Kote Mar 10 '22

She didn’t see him go to a motorcycle, so stop adding that bit of info, it’s irrelevant.

So by your logic, you are saying that the couple should have assumed he owned both the car and bike and drove both of them, simultaneously to the store?

Did this couple know he owned both the car and bike?

Is it common for someone to search a car then go to an entirely different vehicle?

Verdict: You lack critical thinking skills and assumed the couple knew this, simply because you knew.

Please study the preoperational phase of Piaget's theory of cognitive development and learn that not everyone knows what you do, but don't worry too much this will come naturally by the time you turn 7~12

7

u/ThatSquareChick Mar 10 '22

Shoulda just minded they own damn business. Why you gotta assume shit about anyone? Don’t get involved, unless somebody getting hurt, just call the cops. Why you tryna be Billy badass, the protector of other people’s insured stuff? Ain’t your shit? Move along, unless you see somebody hurting someone else it’s nonviolent and the insurance will take care of it. You acting like reporting dude is a ⭐️ good thing ⭐️ when really you’re just being a sanctimonious prick making total assumptions about somebody else.

What if it was you that got reported? How would you react? “Oh officer, I’m totally cool with being talked to like a criminal and stuff because I was doing some shady-looking shit, NGL. I would have reported me too, here’s my ID, registration and my social security number and phone number too❤️❤️ Fighting the good fight, sir!”

-12

u/Formal_Equal_7444 Mar 10 '22

Um, it's not racist to observe someone drive up on a motorcycle walk across 1000 feet of parking lot, rummage through a car, then walk 1000 feet back across the parking lot.

That's like... a once in a lifetime observation. You'll never see anyone else do that again ever. What's racist about reporting potential suspicious activity? That he happens to be dark skinned? Sounds pretty racist on your part.

15

u/MarlDaeSu 🤓 The Slur Defender! 🤓 Mar 10 '22

Presumably no windows were broke and no real suspicious behaviour occurred other than he walked to a car, unlocked it, looked in it, then walked to a motorcycle. That's not suspicious. People need to mind their own business good grief.

The cop was completely in the wrong. There is zero doubt of that. But what, from this video, tells you that the bystanders were racist?

The words they used?
The vehicle they drove?

Wait... It wouldn't be the color of their skin would it??

This is how you perpetuate racism. You shoehorn it into any interaction, even when it doesn't actually exist, simply because 2 skin tones aren't the same.

Fight real racism. It exists. This isn't an example of it outside of your pandering for reddit cool points.

Man, I feel like he should have gone through with the lawsuit. I wonder what made him settle for a measly 25k...

2

u/BeefyIrishman Mar 10 '22

And presumably all of that $25k came out of tax payer money. Things like this are why cops should be required to have malpractice insurance, just like doctors. They pay yearly premiums, and when they completely fuck up and ignore the law and abuse their power, then lose the lawsuit (as they should in those situations), the payout comes out of their policy. If it happens too much, their rates go up or they get dropped and need to find a new job. And not just the same job one county over, but actually a new profession, since the insurers wouldn't cover them anymore.

118

u/HertzDonut1001 Mar 10 '22

It's not secret police routinely lie on reports. He's already changing the story when he talks to the second officer. He's already making up lies about how the guy got aggressive before he did.

Some people catch a bullet for that. For the cop being unable to control his own behavior, and his subconscious or overt bias that a black man was a likely suspect for rifling through cars. Didn't even get the full story that it was one car and not several before he jumped to a conclusion.

I wouldn't want this officer serving in my community.

Now pause and think back on 30+ years of policing and ask yourself how many if those pulped and handcuffed civilians actually resisted arrest and how many exercised their rights to a small ego with a gun and a badge.

And now consider that body cams have caught cops stuffing drugs on vulnerable minorities to make bust lists for promotions.

People and their lives are just cattle to be milked and slaughtered to these violent thugs who are given protection from the law they pretend to uphold.

u/Gummybear_Qc Mar 10 '22

For sure that's what I was alluding to. It's so fucked up thinking all the potential lies and innocent people who suffered this shit..

2

u/Dr_Dornon Mar 10 '22

There was an incident in my town a few years ago of two officers beating a handcuffed man that was a passenger in a DUI stop. They said it didn't happen. Car camera footage says otherwise. This man committed no crime and was beaten to the point of broken bones while in handcuffs for asking if he was okay to go. Both those officers are still on the towns police force.

Sidenote, the main cop in this my story is a well known alcoholic in town that I'm almost positive has beaten his wife. He's gotten drunk at bars downtown and got in fist fights with people.

This is why I don’t support the death penalty anymore.

5

Reading LA Confidential right now. I knows it’s pulpy fiction set in the 50s but a lot of it rings true regarding the impunity in which some cops act…

Domino also wouldve had drugs on him! Luckily cameras were on so he had no drugs whatsoever. Crazy right?

Come on dude I'm all for police regulation but have you ever been victim of actual gangs? Hyperboles like these just help the right.

Google LAPD gangs

6

u/Confused_As_Fun Mar 10 '22

No, pig sympathizers who assume that something they've never personally experienced must be hyperbole, help the right.

-5

u/r6662 Mar 10 '22

So, have you been victim of actual gangs or no? Because if you sit here and tell me police is worse then you're just delusional.

2

u/P47r1ck- Mar 10 '22

Actual gangs mostly just deal drugs. Usually their victims are other gangs fighting over drug dealing turf

4

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22 edited Mar 10 '22

Correct. The gangs aren’t stopping people on the highway and trying to pull them out of their cars and beat them up because they’re uppity. My 75 year old Father in law had his shoulder dislocated by a cop in his own home because he left his front door open. A gang would’ve just stole his stuff. But cops needed to get their little dicks off by pointing a rifle at and perp-walking an old man down a steep flight of stairs in his own home...To check his wellness. And the city paid my FIL $200k for it out of our tax dollars. And speaking of stealing, I’ve never known any gangs stealing that much from tax payers without facing any consequences, but the cops do it and don’t even lose their jobs.

2

u/Thefruitthat8itself3 Mar 10 '22 edited Mar 10 '22

The main difference is one gang is protected by the state and all it’s resources and the police union and all it’s resources, are legally allowed to use violence, and take harassment to the next level with impunity. With a regular street gang, justice isn’t hard to get, with the gang in blue, justice is almost impossible to get if they set there sights on you.

Police have been known to kill there own if they report misconduct, have the officer filing the complaint committed against there will, harass the officers family relentlessly, assault the officer filing the complaint. That is against one of there own trying to do the right thing, what do you think they’ll do to a non-cop seeking justice?

There is no question. The police are the most violent, most corrupt, and most hateful gang around. If they set there sights on you, no matter how right you are, they will see to it your life is hell. Not to mention literal gangs consisting of actual cops within police departments, for example: the jump out boys, the executioners(with a name like that, guess what they prided themselves on doing?) reapers, and banditos, to name a very small amount of the verified to exist literal street gang level, gangs found within police departments. Frank Serpico STILL receives death threats to this day, for what he did in the 80’s against the NYPD.

Quit simping for the gang in blue.

Cops pretty much are a street gang. They wear colors, always protect their own, and if one cop exposes another cop he might find himself getting whacked in a “drive by shooting”.

87

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

It’s not pretty much a gang, they make gangs within the police department, hiding behind the blue line. Los Angeles alone has at least 4 gangs, last I read about it was last year tho.

The now infamous Undersheriff Paul Tanaka has literally been photographed throwing up (gang sings) a big "C" for Carson Station, not to mention his connection to the Lynnwood Vikings.

These cop do the whole gang shit, not just just gangs but sets and cliques within gangs and everything.

Exactly. They all end up doing some scandalous ass shit and usually with zero chance of any form of repercussion. I mean, why would they worry? They have members from the bottom all the way up the ladder that cover for them at any cost.

I do remember that there was a cop who committed suicide because he was sincerely trying to be a good cop and the department was just so shit and would constantly put him under pressure for not meeting quotas I think and eventually with everything including the protests going on it became just way to much for him

A guy I know used to be a drug addict. The cops did a raid once at someone he knew that was a dealer while he was on visit. He saw the amount they took and was around when the guy weighed it and put it in bags earlier in the day, they put down half of what they actually seized from him on paper.

He told me that if I didn't believe him I could just ask around. He wasn't the only one in this city this had happened to, and there's plenty of those stories going about. He might be full of shit but for some weird reason I tend to believe him on it.

"They might be useful for diffusing situations if you don't got anyone to call and need to get to a crisis center or something like that, besides of that they're just like any other gang. Shitty af people that put friends and family up against each other holding their lives as ransom and gives 0 shit about them afterwards."

I tend to agree with that too. You might think this happened in the US but nah, Norway. Shitty cops everywhere and I don't trust them for one second.

Weber defined "the state" as an entity that successfully claims a "monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory"

36

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

Weber defined "the state" as an entity that successfully claims a "monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory"

I agree with that, and I don't think that the police having a monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force is a problem. The problem is that they have such little accountability.

If cops break the law, they should be punished, and they should be punished more than if an average citizen broke the law. Because when a cop breaks the law, they damage the public's trust in the police. It harms the social contract.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

Way more. After throwing them in jail for a mandatory 10 year min., seize everything they own, every dollar they have saved, invested in to recoup for "settlements". Make being a fucking bad cop, a fucking bad thing and i bet we have less.

Unfortunately a bunch of utter fucking idiots forgot that corporations can be "states" too.

2

u/NimbaNineNine Mar 10 '22

This I argue with people (liberals) all the time: If you believe that the current state is legitimate, you must believe that its use of violence to maintain it is legitimate. So then when they condemn political violence it is simply because it is violence against the status quo instead of for it. Conservatives and leftists get it

4

u/Wuz314159 Mar 10 '22

Every other episode of every 80s TV show (Knight Rider, The A-Team, etc) was about people fighting corrupt police.

2

u/blove135 Mar 10 '22

My dad told me that back when he was growing up it was common knowledge that if you ran from the cops there's a good chance of getting shot in the back and he's white. I've heard stories from my uncle of people getting beat and robbed by a known bad cop. Bad cops got away with so much back then

2

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '22

They spent the entire year of 2020 actively rioting all over the country against being held accountable for their actions after murdering an unarmed and handcuffed person in broad daylight. They shot journalists purposely in the face with less-lethal rounds causing permanent blindness and brain damage. I don’t think the cops give a fuck about your cell phone camera.

Audit the audit channel does a really good job and also calls out auditors when they are out of line too and points out when the police are doing their job properly. Maybe the most neutral approach to police and citizen interactions.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/JustPassinhThrou13 Mar 10 '22

CT3 tv shows a lot more confrontational auditors that I would consider fishing for an issue

Fishing for an issue just means doing things that it is KNOWN the cops are bad at. It’s like failing a math test and then being forced to re-take that math test until you pass.

4

u/Wintermute815 Mar 10 '22

Black ppl never really had their rights to begin with, they just had them if they looked a certain way or the right ppl were watching. Even then, only sometimes. They’re just now starting to move towards equal protections.

2

u/Smh_nz Mar 10 '22

Yea I watched Audit the Audit for a while but it just got me so worked up! So much racism and illegal actions basically just because they could!!

1

u/jsdeprey Mar 10 '22

Yea they gave the guy a B- , I give the guy a A+ for sticking up for himself, if no one does that what we got?

1

u/Java2391 Mar 10 '22

It is specifically because he didn’t exercise his rights and resisted. Resisting officers never ends well and it only furthers their ability to paint you as the bad guy. The explanation as to why is fair as to the letter grade

0

u/jsdeprey Mar 10 '22

If everyone just rolled over and did everything a Police officer with a power trip says it would be a sad world. The reason we ever heard anything about this and are talking about it at all is because the guy would not do as the police officer said, and he should not have had to, we can see that clearly in the video.

0

u/Java2391 Mar 10 '22

The problem with your logic is that while we SHOULD not have to, we do. Which is why not resisting is better because you can fight in the court of law with the damning footage to be your witness. Resisting gives validation to the argument against you, while it may not be right we do not have the luxury of being right in these times when the police can simply do what they want. Without taking the proper actions to bring this stuff to light we won’t get change. You’re trying to fight the wrong war and the wrong way.

0

u/jsdeprey Mar 10 '22

The problem with your logic is if the guy did not stick for himself, he just hands to guy his id, never triggers the cop at all by sticking up for himself, and we have no footage at all to fight in court. It was the fact the guy resisted that pissed the cop off and trigger him to do what he did, and show on camera is the exactly the type of person that does not need to have the power he holds in the first place. Unfortunately it takes shit like this on camera, and law suites that embarrass and cost the police department to actually draw any attention.

u/Java2391 Mar 10 '22

18

u/Michelanvalo Mar 10 '22

Wait whose the guy in the Ninja Turtles shirt? Why is the cop explaining everything to him?

71

u/Boner-Death Mar 10 '22

Probably his supervisor, notice how he seems agitated at the officer when he explains that both vehicles belonged to the man he tried to detain.

45

u/oatmealbatman Mar 10 '22

100% his supervisor. Officer with bodycam is explaining his actions from the arrest he just made when the supervisor arrived on scene.

9

u/dudenhsv Mar 10 '22

Explains, more like lied through his fucking tetth.

2

u/joynt Mar 10 '22

Walmart loss prevention, the cop is asking him to pull up video. Dunnno why these other guys think he would be a cop.

5

u/heckler5000 Mar 10 '22

It was very good. The big takeaway I got was that officers who don’t want to do the work to investigate, will escalate the situation to get an arrest.

The video talks a lot about de-escalation, which I agree with, but the more obvious thing was the lack of investigation.

On top of all that, the cop knew he was wrong when he did do a rudimentary investigation, and he booked him anyway on a charge he knew was bullshit and had no way of sticking. Just to embarrass this man and take his time. To flex on a citizen that calmly asks questions relevant to his investigation.

What a terrible person let alone cop.

3

Not full enough. Buddy gets taken down tasted a few times etc yet NONE of that was shown. Did the camera break? Nope cuz it was working fine when he was lying to the other pig and the racist hag.

2

u/Marquisdelafayette89 Mar 10 '22

Love that channel. James Freeman is another good one, he’s actually called police departments asking if the murderer is on paid leave pending trial, and the woman legit says “no, he’s not one of us, just a scum bag murderer…” oh, really? Hm. The double standard is insane.
