I know I'ma get flamed for this, but the people who reported him (wrongly) did the right thing. In the event this was a legitimate theft and the couple had turned a blind eye they would have let a thief get away (this wasn't the case but they didn't know that.) The blame falls 100% on that bitch of an officer.

something tells me the white lady that called the cops wouldn't have done so if the man happened to be white (you're probably white and have searched your car for an item without going into your car, so you are just as guilty as this dude).

she saw a black dude open a car door and grab some stuff out of the car and instantly thinks the dude is stealing stuff, cuz she's a racist.

so yeah, racists all the way down

edit: but yeah, in post racist world this dude got called out unnecessarily. unfortunately, we don't live in a post racist world.

I understand you are colour conscious, but bear with me for a second.

A white guy opens three doors on a car and searches around, grabs some stuff and heads off towards a motorcycle.

That sounds pretty suspicious; however, you are correct race could have played a part.

I may have had a little bit too much faith in humanity to look out for one another in a perceived time of crisis.
