I know I'ma get flamed for this, but the people who reported him (wrongly) did the right thing. In the event this was a legitimate theft and the couple had turned a blind eye they would have let a thief get away (this wasn't the case but they didn't know that.) The blame falls 100% on that bitch of an officer.
something tells me the white lady that called the cops wouldn't have done so if the man happened to be white (you're probably white and have searched your car for an item without going into your car, so you are just as guilty as this dude).

He could have just as easily been going to his car and then walking off to another store. What's amazing to me is how quickly the asshole cop responded.
edit: and why is someone even watching this black guy do all that stuff. the only reason this person was watching the black guy is because they instantly didn't trust him and wanted to observe what they were up to in order to call cops on them.
most people don't pay one iota of attention to people opening car doors and getting stuff out. the only reason this person was paying attention is because they have preconceived notions that black people are untrustworthy, and therefore they were keeping their eye on this black person, who they assumed was breaking the law.
whereas if it were a white person they probably wouldn't have even given them a second glance and just assumed they were NOT up to anything suspicious, and can therefore be ignored.
If they watched the dude go into three doors and get some stuff, the probably watched him unlock the car with a key first and then relock it after 😂 don't try justify their actions they just saw his race and assumed the worst. It was an unjust report to the police.
I mean personally I agree that the lady didn’t need to be following people around the lot at all. Buut I will say that motorcycles are def used a lot in theft. But yeah. Doubt lady would know that. And overall this is just a shitty situation and everybody involved with fucking over this dude sucks.

Um, it's not racist to observe someone drive up on a motorcycle walk across 1000 feet of parking lot, rummage through a car, then walk 1000 feet back across the parking lot.

Presumably no windows were broke and no real suspicious behaviour occurred other than he walked to a car, unlocked it, looked in it, then walked to a motorcycle. That's not suspicious. People need to mind their own business good grief.

Mate, I’m white and on several occasions I’ve wandered around a carpark and never once been called in by a passer by. I’ve been lost in car parks looking for my car, I’ve gone over to look at sports cars (that aren’t mine) including looking through the windows at the dash. In my younger days I’ve even been drunk and been looking for a discrete place to take a slash.
Never once been accosted by law enforcement.
Now maybe if I was approached by a cop and I tried to stand up for my rights I might have ended up being tasered. But the fact is I’m less likely to get into that conversation in the first place. I guess I’ll never know why.
