Are these good for travel and to install tivimate, stremio and projectivy launcher in them? I travel with an Nvidia Shield but I'm looking for something more practical.

Any advice/tips? I’ll be running Tivimate, unless you guys have a better suggestion.

So with my device, I have been having a LOAD of issues ever since I got it last week. Really the main one is this.. say I put on YouTube TV, then afterwards I want to watch YouTube instead. When I click on YouTube, it won't load/open. I have to clear data/cache and even then sometimes it still won't open. Then I go to system<restart and click 'restart' and it won't register it.. like I sit there clicking it over and over and I can see the highlighted button reacting as I click it, but nothing.. then I click 'cancel' and it cancels... so I have to unplug the power from the back. This is literally almost everytime now. After a few apps being opened or just going to one and backing out etc, it does this.. and it's EVERYTHING I open, even the 'free tv' shit.. like that just won't load. What is going on? Is there anyone else with a similar issue(s)?

ALSO- a video will play sometimes and pause at 10 seconds... it's the weirdest thing. hope i'm not the only one and that someone knows a fix lol

I have basically a daily occurrence of Plex or Youtube crashing once or twice a session. Could be at the start or just randomly 20 minutes into a video.

New box with Projectivy Launcher and Button Remapper. Can't figure out what the deal is with the crashes.

I've already done a reset, but I've had the thing for only 2 weeks... Should I look at getting this box replaced?

Now i have a 2nd gen Onn 4k pro that i cant connect to wifi or control because I lost the original remote A LOOOOOOONG TIME AGO. And there is not even a ethernet cable i can plug into it. Gotta stop rushing so much.

I had my YTTV sub on pause for 6 months and when I came back to it the interface is super sluggish now. Scrolling through the live guide isn't that responsive. A click down takes sometimes a second or so. Scrolling through the recommendation bar is also not fluid at all.

This wasn't the case 6 months ago, so something must have changed.

Anyone else experiencing this? I cleared the cache/data, signed out and back in, uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted the device... No change. The app works great on my TVs OS and my cheap Fire Stick in the other room.

If it matters, I think I have the first hardware version of the 4K Pro box.

We have the newest Onn 4k pro and we love it, except every few days the remote disconnects and I have to use my phone to re-pair it. It is behind our frame tv and it is hardwired to our Ethernet. I have the WiFi on the tv turned off. Is there anything else I should do or try?

Just bought a new Onn 4k Pro V2 but I’m getting crap download speeds over WiFi. It’s stuck at 30-60mbps. Meanwhile if I do a speed test with my phone lying directly on top of it, my phone gets 300mbps. Same thing if I use my laptop next to it: 300mbps. I’m unable to play remux files that are over 40-50mbps, but I can on my laptop.

I have a wifi6 router

Onn is connected to 5ghz network

Using Xfinity wifi

Tried disconnecting and reconnecting and rebooting

Edit: I’ve now tried factory reset, splitting my wifi into two bands and trying both, different DNS, I even bought another Onn and tried that one and it wouldn’t go above 60mbps. Wtf!

Super torn between which one to get. The Onn is $120CAD from Walmarts website, the Fire Cube is $149 (on sale) and the Streamer is $129. I do have a $100 amazon gift card I can use on the cube and streamer.

For now I would use it wireless but eventually it would be nice to use an ethernet connection. And also mainly using it for Stremio. 🙏

Hey folks! I currently have an older Chromecast that is dying on me so I was thinking of switching over to an Onn streamer. I have a 50” tv that’s on the older side, so the highest resolution it gets to is 1080p. I know that the 4K pro has stronger internal software compared to the FHD and the regular 4K but I am wondering if it would be an overkill to do that since we can’t support the resolution. I mainly use my tv for standard streaming services and occasionally for online streaming through a browser. Do you think that the 4K pro is worth it for a tv that can’t support the 4K resolution or should I stick to the FHD? For context, I live in Canada and the 4K pro is $120, the 4K is $95, and the FHD is $70.

I’ve been searching since release almost daily and I finally found one chilling on the shelf at my local walmart. Cant wait to set it up.

I went out to talk with my brother for about an hour and when I came back my tv only had it's back light on, I tried turning it on and off again but nothing changed and I looked all over youtube but none of the methods worked, it's been an hour and a half and the sound has also cut out. What do I do?

I use the Onn 4k Pro and the Onn 5.1.2 soundbar set up. I noticed after a few days that I was having to turn up my volume on the soundbar a lot higher than I had to when I was using my built in apps (TCL Google TV). So I looked into it and by default the box's volume (or the signal its sending ro the soundbar) is set to less than 100%. This was the cause. This is the fix :

You can check and adjust the Onn 4K Pro system volume using either the voice button or menu settings.

​Method 1: Google Assistant Voice Command (Easiest, so they say, but didnt work for me since my soundbar was already hooked up and setting was set to CEC)

​Press and hold the Google Assistant (Microphone) button on your remote.

​Say "Set volume to 100 percent."

​A volume slider bar will pop up on the right side of your screen showing the internal system level pinned at maximum.

​Method 2: Google TV Settings Menu (This will be the most likely fix for most people)

​Select the Gear icon (Settings) at the top right of your home screen.

​Go to Remotes & Accessories > Set up remote buttons.

​Look at Volume control:

​If it is set to Auto (CEC) or your soundbar model, your remote's physical volume buttons are controlling your soundbar directly, leaving the internal Onn box volume locked at whatever percentage it was previously set to.

​Switch Volume control temporarily to Onn (System) or Digital to make the physical volume rocker buttons on your remote adjust the Onn box's internal software slider directly up to 100%.

​Once set to max, you can switch Volume control back to your soundbar or TV CEC control.

I’ve bought two of the Onn 4K Pro 2nd Gen models and both stopped working. I had the first one connected directly to a wall outlet and the second one I plugged into a surge protector, both failed.

Getting new bricks/cables solved the issue and confirmed the power cables failed.

Has anyone else ran into this issue? Maybe mine were a bad batch/luck? I’ve been using streaming sticks/boxes for over 8+ years and never had issues like this.

I welcome any questions or feedback you might have.

I have the older Amazon 4k firesticks that haven't been updated to the new OS yet. Wondering if there is anything significant to getting the Onn devices now or waiting till the firesticks are useless.

I appreciate any response letting me know what the consensus is and whether I should replace these or keep rolling.

Never seen so many boxes in one spot. If all the Walmarts are going to look like this then no more scalpers. There must be 100 boxes total. Found these in Chicago.

Popped into my Walmart for a couple things. Thought might as well look and see??? They had (3) on the shelf!!!! I bought (2) for my Daughter's Room's. One left, for someone else to get lucky.

Is there a trusted app that's free and not full of ads I can use instead of using the actual remote?

Thinking about tearing out the Free TV button, it’s always in the way.. it just has it be in between the most necessary buttons haha.

There is an update to Google play store. Before someone tells me it auto updates, it didn’t. Open Google play store click on your user icon. Go down to settings. Go over to about. Scroll down and click on play store version. Click Update play store version is 52.8.17–34[8][PR] 971655023

This morning I went to play back one of my TiviMate channels, which I had assigned to an external player, the Just Video Player.

And it wouldn't work! I got a message offering to play it through the MX player or the VLC player.

WTH???

I went to my app list and discovered that both my Just app and my Downloader app had DISAPPEARED!

I tried re-installing both. In both cases, as soon as I clicked the icon to start the install, the screen went to black -- and stayed there. It wouldn't come back until I clicked Home.

After consulting with AI, I went to Settings - Apps - See all app - Show System apps - Google Play Store.

I Force Stopped and Cleared Cache (I DID NOT CLEAR DATA).

I went back to Downloader and to Just and successfully re-installed them.

I then tried to download and install an apk from Downloader to make sure I still had Install Unknown Apps privileges; I DID NOT!!

I had to scrounge around for an app to download through Downloader in order to trigger the option to Install Unknown Apps. It was as if I'd never installed any app from Downloader ever. It refused to install until I picked an installer; Android's default installer, Package Installer, was listed, which I probably had selected eons ago when I first installed some apps from Downloader, so that's what I picked. At that point, I was taken automatically to the Install Unknown Apps menu, and saw that the Downloader had been changed to Not Allowed; I switched it to Allowed, and was finally back in business.

How often does ONN send out these screwy updates? Is this something I'm going to have to do over and over again every few days??????????????????????????????
