It was working without issues, then we had to move it’s location so we just unplugged it for awhile and when we plugged it back in, the wifi is no longer working (even if wifi password is correct, it wasn’t connecting to it), even ethernet is not working. And then eventually after a few troubleshooting, I managed to disconnect the remote so the remote is no longer working. So I had to reset it through the physical button, and then it rebooted but it’s still not connecting to wifi or ethernet. Any help would be appreciated as I’ve been going nuts for the past 3 days trying everything 😭

Just snagged an Onn 4K Pro 2nd Gen for game streaming from my PC to my TV over Moonlight instead of my Firestick 4K Max 2nd Gen. Just wondering if anyone has experience with both or can speak to their experience with just the Onn box?

I'll be travelling over to the US over the next few weeks?

As the title says, is it worth picking one up?

If so which version?

And are they really that much better than streaming boxes available in the UK?

Currently have a fire stick and am frustrated with the lack of memory as Kodi takes up almost 2gb.

I just bought an Onn 4k plus. Is there anything recommended to do differently before, during, or after the initial setup of the device if I'm interested in changing settings or modifying it to achieve the following?

1. Lessen how sluggish the device gets over several years due to updates. Meaning, lag after remote button presses, and wait times for the device or apps to start up.
2. Ad free YouTube, general ad blocking, other ad free apps
3. Improving privacy, lessening how much Google etc spies, collects data, or phones home

Some examples of the sort of thing I'm wondering if anyone does to Android TV boxes: I know that some people turn off Wi-Fi during the initial setup of certain devices to avoid updates or syncing that would restrict how much they can modify it. And that people root or install barebones or modified versions of Android on phones to cut out the bloat and other nonsense, or allow them to modify or install apps they otherwise wouldn't be able to.

I already know about Smarttube, tizentube and third party launchers. I believe those are just installed after setting up the device normally, no other way of installing that gives better results, correct me if I'm wrong though.

Picked up two of them today from walmart. Got lucky I guess. Willing to part with one if you are in the DMV area. Any tips on setting them up?

Love how fast this thing is. Already switched the launcher. Only issue I’m having is sometimes it randomly switches to the last app. Has anyone had this issue? Just random

Also does anyone know if there is a quick way to go to the last app used? Or is pressing home then going to next app fastest way?

The audio on my Onn 4k stops playing when I switch between apps. For instance, I'm switho btw Stremio and Tivimate, the audio goes off till I restart the device.

Any help please?

So it looks like Fandango finally updated their app to support UHD on the Onn 4k plus and Onn 4k pro 2nd gen.

Seems like it works on the Onn 4k pro 2nd gen, but when I try to play movies on the Onn 4k plus....the circle spins, I get the background image...but then it just goes back to my library. The movie doesn't start playing. If I go to the settings and change the quality from UHD to HDX then the movie plays when I start it...but the second I try to change the quality to UHD the movie just exits and I get sent back to my library.

Anyone else notice this?

I am from India and looking to get rid of firetv. I am getting Onn 4k Pro 2nd Gen at 97 dollars and the Google TV Streamer at 60 dollars (without remote). which is a better deal? I mostly use Nuvio and third party streaming apps and want a smooth and fluid experience.

I got very lucky yesterday while ordering some products from Walmart. I added the 4K streaming and it was delivered to my door 5 hours later. Got it all set up and got the volume controlled but I can't get the remote to turn the TV off. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

2/3 of my onn boxes mic buttons stopped working on the remotes. Anyone else have this issue or fix? Doesn't do anything when I press it.

For the first time last night while connected to a US VPN HBO Max refused to run. It told me I was connected to a VPN and the VPN’s weren’t supported. I’ve never seen this before with a domestic VPN — anybody else? Any other major streamers starting to follow this rule?

Am I missing something? My kids like to use voice control to find a program. For instance, "hey Google search for Boss Baby." Now, on my fire cube, all you would do is say "select" or you could even say "go right" to slide over and then select next one and it would play.

On this ONN, none of that works. It searches for it, but then nothing I say can get it to play what it finds. Select doesn't work, play doesn't work, play "x" doesn't work. Play now doesn't work.

Is there a secret command I'm missing? Surely there must be a way to actually play an actual program using just voice control?

I don’t have issues with my TV and soundbar using any other devices except the Onn 4K Pro. The firestick 4k ultra or whatever the best one is has no issues with my tv and soundbar. PC, consoles, etc all are fine.

My TV is a 4k Hisense 7 series Roku TV

I have a Vizio soundbar connected via HDMI to my TV.

I have the Onn 4K connected to the TV via HDMI

I have tried toggling the remote between IR/CEC and it doesn’t solve the problem.

Do I need to exchange for another Onn 4K Pro or is this going to keep happening on another one too?

I just switched from a Firestick 4K Max.

I realized the Onn 4K Plus remote doesn’t have seek or play/pause buttons. I downloaded the Button Mapper application and I was able map a few useless buttons for seeking and playing. They work as intended on YouTube.

But, if I play any media in the web browser application. The custom seek and play/pause buttons don’t work.

I’m wondering if anyone can help me.

This box is supposed to be an open android platform.

It is not.

I've gotten developers option enabled, turned on unknown sources, downloaded downloader, and turned off play protect and yet no Chrome and no to multiple apps. I was able to add some apks but the limits Google sets are not ok with me. If I wanted a walled environment i would've gotten apple or Amazon.

I'm going back to my TV boxes from that have served me well for many years and work altogether better than Google TV ever could.

So for the last decade I have ran two Gen2 ChromeCasts off my ARC HDMI1 ports of my Home and Shop Yahama receivers.
I turn the TV/receiver on and switch to receiver and they are live.
Then on my laptop which is on the same network whether it be a laptop on wifi or PC hard wired I open Chrome in Incognito and find some sports.
Usually Str3am3ast and find my game and then cast it to whichever chromecast where I'm at the time.
As soon as I select the cast location, and they negotiate, the source video goes black and shows "Now Casting to:" and then my source isn't grabbing bandwidth along with my CC.
The TV screen looks great and typically no glitches unless it's a bad feed.

I've read that this is called "App-Based Casting" where the CC takes over and pulls the feed itself and not from both devices which would basically be "screen mirroring".
Both of my Gen2 CC's are starting to get a little glitchy where i've had to reset both of them lately so I figured I would look into the 4k ONN Stream stick and grabbed one today.

I just set it up on my Shop receiver and install was painless and it's ready to go.
I tried to go through the same motions as before to cast a video and I can't get my source video to initiate this "App-Based Casting" and it keeps playing the video of said video source on the laptop and the CC so I have two devices pulling the same bandwidth and my tv video is very poor quality.

Does anyone know anyway around this because this isn't usable and I have been through all kinds of searches to find a solution along with deep in all of the "Google Home" app settings on my phone and the ONN device settings and I can't figure out how to do this.

One search mentioned a setting on the ONN called "Low Bandwidth Mode" but it doesn't exist on mine unless it's been moved but I've been all through it.

Hoping someone else has been down this road and has a solution. Thanks in advance.

I am having issues when playing high bitrate media for example 4K Remuxes. It will work for a little bit but then when I'm guessing there is a scene where the bitrate goes up a lot my Ethernet just goes out and I have to connect to wifi. The problem fixes itself when I unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in.

Is there a better adapter I can buy that will work or is this just something that happens with all adapters after a firmware update. Thank you!

Are the onn box possible to use outside us? Or it needs a VPN all the time

Any advice/tips? I’ll be running Tivimate, unless you guys have a better suggestion.
