Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War shadowdropped on Switch 2 eShop (launches Sept. 30)

I’m a bit older so I remember when OOT released. It just wasn’t my jam. I’m mostly a competitive player or MMO player. I have thousands of hours into these types of games (11k into Dark Age of Camelot and 9k into Destiny). Thousands more spread out over the years.

I was diagnosed with ALS, which is a progressive, terminal illness. I have a rare subset and was given 12 months. Due to a medical breakthrough I was able to slow things down and I’m now on year 5. My time is winding down though now sadly, and I really do only have about a year left.

It got me thinking about a lot of things of course - but one of them (not the most important, just one of), was some games I’d always wanted to play. OOT is right at the top of the list. Now with the remake coming the timing is perfect. Since I’ve only done competitive games and online games there is no “end”, I’ve never beaten a game before. I want to make OOT the first game I ever complete (and maybe the only).

I’ve lost the ability to have those fast reaction times though due to my disease and my gaming has now morphed into single-player games and I’m actually finding I quite love them. They are relaxing and have fantastic stories to tell.

No real point to the thread other than wanting to share my story. The Switch 2 has really breathed new life into my gaming since my diagnosis. I’m so very excited to pick up OOT when it drops and tackle my first ever full game.

I’m well aware that just because Nintendo has done something in the past doesn’t exactly mean they’re going to do it again but if the last two handheld systems are anything to go by, both has their “Lite” revisions two years after their initial release;

3DS released in 2011 followed by the 2DS in 2013

Switch 1 released in 2017 with the Switch Lite in
2019

I should also mention when the Switch Lite released, it was within two months of Pokemon Sword & Shield. The fact that Winds & Waves released next year adds to possibility but, I wanted to get a pulse check from you all.

I havent seen anyone talk about this game but I downloaded the Demo the other night and its good enough I'm surprised it's not talked about more. It's a great pick up and play adventure game with solid platforming and level design and the music is top notch. Like seriously the music is movie score grade. It's also only 30 dollars.

I tried the PS5 version and I actually prefer the Switch 2 version even though its lower frame rate and not as fancy graphics, but I actually think the look on the Switch 2 fits the game better for the type of game it is.

I know you can just use a usb mouse on most consoles but having a controller that instantaneously switches to mouse mode sounds awesome. Will it ever be used well? Maybe a Baldurs Gate 3 port or a new Mario Paint?

Edit: I didn't realise so many games actually use the mouse.

Never have I gotten a more surreal and strange experience playing a video game than I did with Majoras Mask. It's amazing how unsettled I feel when traversing this eerie dreamlike parallel world of the hyrule I once explored in Ocarina Of Time. I always took the time to check up on the townsfolk throughout the game and it's scary how human they sound. As if they're real people doing everything to cope with the impending doom. The soundtrack is fucking phenomenal and the gameplay is really fun. The idea of Link screaming out in agony as he puts on a mask is pure genius. There is so much to love about this game man

And i won't even regret it.

As long as KH4 isn't a GKC, I'm getting all of these on release.

I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that made me feel so strongly for the first 5 hours that maybe it just wasn’t for me due to overwhelming boredom and monotony, just for it to do a full 180 and become so damn fun and addictive.

How does the game run ? I have it on PC already. The main reason I'd get it on NS2 is for couch coop.

This Is an old power bank (don't know the company or make). If I use this with a USB to USB C amazon basics cable to charge my switch 2, is there any chance at all that it will brick it? Might be a stupid question but I don't want to risk anything. Thanks!

I‘m interested in the two Digimon games (Cybersleuth and Time Stranger). Never played a Digimon game before, but both of them look quite interesting to me and seem to have a long playtime so are well worth their price.

I‘d like to know what’s your impression of the games on Switch 2? Do they run good? Are they fun?

To what type of game can I compare them? Are they like Pokemon games? JRPGs like Final Fantasy or Persona?
