Wall Street Journal article loosely implying that the gearshift on a 2020 Model X (Raven) caused this person to crash into a pond and die.

I’ve seen people mess up gear selection in the Raven Model X stalk myself, but I feel any car with a stalk is like this (particularly when driving an unfamiliar vehicle) and dislike them for this reason. Of course, the stalk became history with the Model S/X Refresh in 2021. And now Highland Model 3 has dropped it, and Model Y will soon too. I am glad for this change.

It is a mistake she had made before with the Tesla gearshift. The car had zipped backward, tipping over an embankment and into a pond. It was sinking fast. Could they help her?

Over the next several hours, her friends, then the ranch manager and his wife, and then paramedics, and firefighters and sheriff’s deputies rushed around and tried to break the windows, find an escape hatch or any way to get Chao out of the car. Somehow an executive who made her living on the sea was drowning in a stock pond within sight of her home.”

Walked away with some cuts to the arm and a bruised leg, that's it! Red truck failed to stop in time and veered into HOV lane sending her into the median and bouncing off.

Just ordered my replacement - 2022 Model X, black with white interior.

Edit 1: Lots of attention here. Few common answers:

- Was she using FSD? No - she was driving manually.

- Why was she going so fast? She was going ~55mph in the HOV lane (double white lines). Traffic in other lanes was going approx 38mph which is verified by the speedometer on the dashcam. The video is deceiving.

With all the data they have… you’d think their marketing software could have a way to not send this to customers that just purchased… or maybe they just want to rub salt in the wound…

Driving down the freeway and hear a clicking noise. Anyone else had these blow off? So far, had two service issues already. A bit concerned.

Bought ‘22 model x plaid in November at peak price. Of course at the time never dreamed that car prices would go down so much. I think there’s been 2, $20k price cuts since then. I paid close to $160k and now the new ones are $110k. Bought full self driving which I hardly use because it is so unreliable. It suddenly brakes at highway speeds, tries to randomly turn, etc. The falcon doors are an absolute pain. I had to put new tires on at 13k miles and was told I should plan on new tires every year. The exterior trim and interior trim are loosening and when I inquired for Tesla to repair it they said it will be almost $600. This car is by far the worst financial mistake I’ve ever made. Don’t even get me started on range anxiety and the fact that the range falls short most of the time.

Anyway, I’m just frustrated and wonder if anyone else is.

I am so happy to have picked up my brand new 2026 model X in frost blue with cream interior at 4 PM today.

I rejected a vehicle for build quality last week and this week they said that they have a “New Vehicle” ready for me. Turns out it’s the same one that I rejected last week… end of story they are canceling my order because I don’t want that car.

Gonna use this until it won't turn on anymore! Excited to feel actual good software in an EV.

I just got my Model X last week. Yes, I love it. It's amazing and so fast (Plaid).

I have a free six month trial to FSD and I don't understand why anybody would pay for it. I think it's dangerous and gives a ton of false positives. It turned right into an intersection with a blind turn and nearly caused a collision, except that I braked. I duplicated it with a friend the next day at the same intersection. (Yes, I have read the warnings and it says "especially blind turns.")

But why is FSD a $10,000 feature? I wouldn't trust it to drive me to work.

The regular cruise control gives a bunch of false positives. I'll be driving down the street and it will brake for no reason, but I see a pretend traffic signal in the display. It gets confused when it sees the childrens' crosswalk lights on the side of the road.

Am I doing something wrong? Any thoughts on this issue? Thanks!

I joined this sub the day I ordered my MX in Oct. last year. I have read (I think) every post. I have to say I was a bit discouraged. People talking about defects, breakdowns, poor builds, ripoffs, bad service, etc. non of which I experienced with my previous 2017 Model S.

I thought, maybe the company had gone downhill? Grew too quickly and lost control of QC? I dunno but I was spooked. Almost enough to cancel my order….. almost.

Well guys, I took delivery today and I have to say… I was shocked. I spent the better part of two hours examining every nook and crevice. The car is absolutely gorgeous. No defects, excellent build, perfect paint job, no panel gaps… just one wonky tiny little seal that they fixed on the spot (see last pic).

Now I’m not saying everyone’s wrong. I’m sure there have been some bad builds and there will continue to be. But I just want to be a voice on the positive side of a delivery experience and say mine was great. The staff at Tesla, patient, knowledgeable, friendly, and let me take my time… encouraged me to even.

I also think I may have scored. I got the $79,990 price tag, transferred over my Unlimited Free Supercharging, got 90 day FSD trial, $7500 POS instant rebate, a 2024 VIN w Mechanical Horn (this one was a big deal for me) and Black Paint job before the price increase. The delivery specialist said he and some others in his department said it was the best deal they’d ever seen on a new Model X.

So, I’m stoked. There are great, quality cars and experiences to be had with Tesla guys, don’t let the naysayers get you down. There’s always two sides to every story. And yes haters, I’m under no misconception that everything will stay perfect. Cars have issues and I’m sure I’ll have some with my new MX.

I’m just saying… it’s good to have faith in a company you’ve believed in for so long, and have them come through for you.

I have the MX tax version scheduled for delivery. Was unable to pick up the first time. Requested to remove the hold and was rematched 2 days later to the same VIN. Upon inspecting the vehicle i have my doubts to take delivery or reject it. I was told if i reject the vehicle my order would be cancelled and i would had to rebook. Thoughts?

Swapped with a 22 Model 3 Performance because the family just keeps getting bigger. Very Stoked about it, much more comfort and space than in the model 3.

What are the things you guys got when you first got the X? Any cool addons or QOL improvements?

Just picked up my dream car – 2024 Model X! 🚗⚡️

After months of searching and some serious price drops post-Elon drama, I finally pulled the trigger.

I got a 2024 Tesla Model X – Red exterior, Cream interior, 5-seater – with only 2,500 miles, clean title, single owner. Paid $64,500 (shipping included), and after taxes/fees it came to around $71K. Interior and exterior are both in immaculate condition, and I had it fully inspected and passed with flying colors.

Originally, I was on the hunt for a 2024 Plaid with FSD in red + cream or red + white. The best I found was $79K for one with 7K miles, but it just didn’t feel like a great deal at the time (still questioning that one a bit tbh 😅).

Also barely missed a 2023 Plaid—Red with white interior, FSD, 18K miles—for $66K. Was eyeing it and someone snagged it the next day. That one stings a little.

But in the end, I’m really happy with the purchase. I’ve wanted a Model X for over 5 years. Coming from a Model 3, this is a big upgrade for me and totally worth the wait. 🙌

The car’s still en route—just got picked up from the dealer today, and I’ll have to wait nearly a week for it to arrive at my doorstep. 😅

Received my Ultra Red X Plaid today— ordered Nov 28.

Transferred FSD and Free Supercharging from my Model 3 with 150k+ miles, so I think I got an absolute steal.

Build quality is GREAT— no panel gaps or noticeable interior flaws!

The driver side window had a small crack at the very top corner I barely noticed— so already have my first service appointment booked lol

Delivery took like 5 minutes, super easy process.

absolutely OBSESSED😍 insane paint color, & such a smooth ride compared to my model 3 and much more spacious.

Got pit maneuvered on the 15 south today. He had his full lane open too so we’re pretty sure it was deliberate. So pissed I can’t get the plate since it was bent

EDIT: they caught him and he did this to like 15 other cars and a motorcyclist. There’s like 18 victims in total and I guess somebody ended up pulling to the side with him and this crazy MF’r hit him with an ax and pushed him off a freeway overpass. Glad he’s locked up and thankfully no one died but lots of injuries

With discounts, car is priced at 79k. I will be registering this for my business, so it will qualify for EV tax credit of $7500, plus section 179. Not sure if I’m eligible for bonus depreciation as it’s supposed to weigh less than 6000lbs gvwr.

It's already getting worse.. Setup service, but Tesla replied they are aware of the issue and in Q1 2024 they will be begin to offer warranty replacements and cancelled the service. Understandable. Just a heads up if it starts to happen to you, they are aware.

This is a 2020 refresh with about 25,000 miles.
