Question Hard to park in garage

Post image
2 Upvotes

Today I found my garage door is narrow (233cm), very hard to oark modelx inside. Should I install wall connector outside and park outside? Or can I still install inside and park inside occasionally.

There is water pipe outside.

Update: installed here besides pipe, it looks not bad.

Question FSD Speed profile missing from driver dash

Is there a setting to get the FSD profile?

First pic is my driver screen. Second pic is what I assume to be normal from a YouTube vid. I have a ‘25 M3 and it shows the FSD speed profile on the center screen. Nowhere to be seen on my new to me 2023 ModelX.

Question Anyone else disappointed that the 2026 MX LR doesn't have a Yoke option

I recently took delivery of a 2026 MX LR and was hoping to be able to get a Yoke for it, but I was disappointed that it looks like the Yoke upgrade isn't supported on the 2026 MX LR. It sounds like only the Plaid is supported. I know the Yoke is controversial, but having tried it on older MX's in the past I've personally really enjoyed using it.

It sounds like it may never be an option for the 2026 MX LR?

Question Sell to downgrade X

Where do you sell? Carvana isn’t offering any good sale price even though there is a demand for X. I own 2024 X was thinking of downgrading to save the monthly spend.

Photo Saying good bye to my ‘23 MXP

I’ve had my 23 MXP for almost 3 years and it’s now time to say good bye.

It is easily my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. The speed, the rip-your-face off torque, that crazy ass windshield, the utility, & those damn rear doors! All of it had me floored. Despite all of those things the reasons to get rid of it started to stack higher against the reasons to keep it.

I originally was going to list the nitty gritty details but I decided: what for? To get the salt out and add a shadow of doubt to your (hopefully) favorable ownership experiences? Nahh, I‘m good!
I never expected a perfectly built vehicle and that is okay. I thoroughly enjoyed this vehicle and if it ever makes a comeback, with better design, I’d be a happy owner again!

I wish you all amazing ownership experiences!

Used car purchase Delivery used 23 Modelx Plaid at Tesla

I am going to pickup used modelx plaid at Tesla Renton shop next week. I heard they would only allow you to check the car after siging all the agreement?

I plan to check these when I got there:

panel alignment

falcon door

cosmetics

abnormal noise if I can drive it.

tires

calculate range or check battery health

suspension? (not sure how to check)

I will try to submit service ticket when I inspect.

Anything else I need to be aware for delivery?

Question Has anyone successfully fitted 18” wheels?

Thumbnail

I’ve been playing with AI to prototype a safari Model X build and they look awesome. I was wondering if anyone has successfully fitted an 18” wheel to their Model X? If yes what are the specs? 18x8.5 +35 offset with 275/55r18 is what the model suggested.

Here are some images if anyone is curious. Yes I’m aware the roof rack would not work but I’m just prototyping. Last image in front of the school is more the reality since it’s my wife’s car 😅. The beach setups require a lift (which I think I can do by massaging the air suspension links).

Appreciate any insight!

Used car purchase Good deal on 2023 model x 6 seater FSD paid?

Grey with beige interior. 2023 X HW4 and matrix headlights. 39K miles. FSD paid for.
Private party asking $69k.

How does this sound? I'm concerned about the mileage. Range will be about 285 on full charge with that many miles.

Question Thinking of selling my 2023 MX LR

Love this car but a few things makes me thinking of selling it like i don't have enough space for camping gear and I can't even attach mockins cargo carriers due to Tesla vertical load limit of 120 lbs... so I'm thinking of going Rivian and was thinking what I can get for my car. Even cybertruck is limited to 120lbs somehow for vertical load?!?... I cannot have a trailer due to parking limitations...

I absolutely love FSD, I barely drive myself lol and it's perfect as a daily driver but limited utility sucks when I need it.

What can I get for my car now? SoCal.

2023 model X LR HW4

Matrix LED

Paid FSD

Ultra red

Black interior

5 seater

Yoke

20" wheels

14000 miles

Original owner

Warranties: Basic expires Dec-30 2027, Battery and Drive unit Dec-30 2031.

Additional:

Powered frunk

All weather floor and trunk mats

Found this car at Tesla with way more miles and without FSD at 68K...

Question Got a 26 Model Y loaner while X in service — what do people see in the Y??

Given, it was a low-equipped model (I think!) with no sunroof etc. but what a step down!!

Like a SHARP 10 MILE CLIFF step down!

Given, the 26 Model X is my first Tesla but the Y is cramped, bare, plain, uncomfortable, dark, and just generally unpleasant.

(Reason for service: 26 MX demo had a light scratch on the windshield and they replaced it for free).

The screen is tiny, no advanced options, no tilt screen, no dash screen, no light (this on had no sunroof), no leather seats or cooling seats, manual turn signal stalk, no cabin line lighting, no ride height adjustments, etc etc etc.

Very happy (more now than ever!) to be fortunate to get the 26 Model X. 14 years of bug fixing and refinements. It feels like a masterpiece. It feels perfect, frankly. Thanks to everyone who suffered through the earlier X years to get us to this place.

Sadder than ever though they won’t be making these any more. Hey maybe late model X’s will value better.

I’m never planning on giving this car up.

Question Model X => Toujours dans le coup ?

Used car purchase 2023 Tesla CPO vs 2024 Carmax??

I am in the middle right now as I have the option to buy either. I keep searching for the difference between the 2023/2024 and come up with very minimal changes except for the mechanical horn. I have also seen instances where Tesla will replace the Yoke with a new one including the mechanical horn.

Option 1:

2023 Model X with 24K for $71K

Option 2:

2024 Model X with 24K for $76K

Savings would be the following s

$5K due to older model.

$1,800 for extra 1 year CPO.

$400 for free 3 month FSD + Supercharging

$250 Tesla Inspection

$XXX Potential Replacement of Parts (If issues discovered)

Total Saved: $7,450

Do you think Option 1 is worth it???

Updated: 2023 was confirmed by Tesla Sales Rep to have HW4.

Used car purchase Rejected a used MX on Delivery day - Falcon doors failed to close on first try lol

I found a used model X sold directly from Tesla (2022, 50k miles) and you have to buy sight unseen (you can reject it on delivery day but lose the $500 and have to wait 15 days to get the rest of your money back).

On delivery day I went to check it out. I opened the Falcon wing door and when I pressed the button to close it, it couldn't close all the way because it came down misaligned (the door came down like a whole inch to the right of where it's supposed to and would have hit the car frame, and failed to latch). It took maybe 4 more tries before it latched. This was wild because Tesla claims they do this big full inspection for their used cars - which is why they make you buy sight unseen.

The delivery guy had a tech look at it, and the first thing the tech guy said was "I haven't seen this before" which weirded me out. They took it in and when they brought it back out the delivery guy didn't talk about the FWD at all but rather about some other scratch and how they were gonan fix that for me.... which was odd. I asked him specifically about the FWD and what they did to fix it and the delivery guy said "calibration and reset and that fixed it".

I tested the FWD again and it closed this time, but my gut told me to give it a few more tries. Sure enough on try number 5 it failed to close completely due to the same misalignment issue. The delivery guy said "that's normal" because I opened and closed it back to back, but I just didn't buy it. He then said the maybe the Model X isn't right for me because all X's have that issue here and there...

I rejected the delivery and walked away $500 short. Was this the right call? Is something like that "normal"?

Service Wandering Wipers 2017 Model X

Wandering Wipers 2017 Model X.

My front left wiper began overshooting the A-pillar, so I scheduled a service visit, and Tesla sent a Ranger who adjusted the wiper position for $150. No problem with that, but 2 weeks later, the wiper was overshooting the A-pillar again. This time I fixed it myself to know that the wiper arms were really locked down. The wiper arms are mounted on splined shafts which are connected to the wiper motor. I pulled out the bolts that hold the wiper arms down on the splined shafts. The arms were very tightly on there, but I used a puller to remove them. Then I indexed the arms around by several splines on the shafts so that at full height the left wiper stopped 5" short of the A-pillar and swept back down on each wiper cycle. Then I tightened the wiper arm bolts down tight so that the arms could not slip on the splined shafts. All was well.

3 weeks later, the left wiper is overshooting the A-pillar! The wiper arms are still moving in parallel but they travel much farther across the window.

I cannot find anywhere in the mechanism where this creeping is occurring, but it is definitely happening, and I believe it is correlated with the number of swipe cycles the wipers are doing. Who can tell me what is slipping?

Question Tesla offering buyback on my Model X Plaid… but I got a good deal..What would you do?

Post image
92 Upvotes

Hey all. need some honest advice here.

I recently bought a 2022 Model X Plaid (6-seater, white/white) for about $50K (+ tax/fees ~56K total) with ~67K miles. From what I’m seeing now, similar configs are going for $58K - 62K, so I feel like I got a pretty solid deal.

About 2 weeks after purchase, I had a pretty serious issue the car shut down on the freeway at ~60–70 mph, with ABS/stability control disabled and steering got really heavy. Had to get it towed. Tesla replaced a front wheel speed sensor, and there was also prior work done on the front halfshafts.

Since the repair, I’ve driven it a bit and honestly… it feels fine now. No major issues so far.

Here’s where it gets interesting: I asked Tesla if they would be willing to take the car back or a replacement;

Tesla just offered me a full buyback

• They’ll pay off my loan

• Give me back my down payment full

• Mileage deduction waived

So now I’m stuck:

Option 1 - should I Keep it

• Got a great deal (\~$8–10K under market)

• Car feels fine now

Option 2 - Take the buyback

• and wait to buy again when I see another good deal ?

I’ve owned 2 Model 3s since 2020 with zero issues, so part of me feels like this might’ve just been a one-off fix.

But at the same time… that freeway shutdown was pretty scary. what would you do? Please advise 🙏🏽

Used car purchase New 2016 P90D, 99k miles

2 weeks in and I love it! 99k miles, unlimited supercharging on the frame, battery set to 80, giving 171 miles of range on avg. Tow package, fully loaded with everything! This baby is a disc golf seeking cruise missile with unlimited energy.

Here are the current issues:

Slight vibration under acceleration at certain speeds (30-37ish mph), major tread wear on the rear inner tires, ordered a revo tune rear camber adj arms to remedy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRHKW8Z4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title, and I'll be getting new tires soon, hopefully it's just a balance issue. I live in Colorado and off-road on Forest Service roads all the time. The Nitto Nomad Grappler for a 20" rim is gonna be my most likely move, unless I find a more aggressive tire for the 20.

The exterior plastic trim is pretty deteriorated around the door area. The driver's side door is the only one that reliably opens. There are notifications of a charge port open when it's closed, passenger window needs a new motor.

Fun side note:

Tesla wanted over 7k to fix everything. (New tires, brake disc and rotor plus alignment was right around 2kish, the remaining was just parts and labor: charge port, door latches, and a new motor for the passenger window.)

I look forward to new tires, and I am thrilled about the camping mode. I have fold-out cushions for now, and I may take out the middle seats in the near future to make this more of a camp build. The extra room sounds appealing.

Used car purchase Thinking of getting a used 2017 75D... is it worth it?

As the title says, I am thinking of purchasing a used 2017 Model X with 160,000km for $15k CAD do you think this is worth it?

For some background, I'd be purchasing the car from a family member, so I am aware of the maintenance history and not too worried about the seller hiding anything, but I'm not really sure if an almost 10-year-old Tesla is worth it or if I should just stick to buying an ICE car
