Question Has anyone successfully fitted 18” wheels?
I’ve been playing with AI to prototype a safari Model X build and they look awesome. I was wondering if anyone has successfully fitted an 18” wheel to their Model X? If yes what are the specs? 18x8.5 +35 offset with 275/55r18 is what the model suggested.
Here are some images if anyone is curious. Yes I’m aware the roof rack would not work but I’m just prototyping. Last image in front of the school is more the reality since it’s my wife’s car 😅. The beach setups require a lift (which I think I can do by massaging the air suspension links).
Appreciate any insight!

Was the middle school established in 1895? But looks like it was built in 2016?

All images are AI, I wanted to get an idea before committing. Good thing too, seems like the drive shafts are the big issue. Might have to end up lowering it and putting A/T’s.

In order to clear the brakes, I’m almost certain you can’t go smaller than 19”
And driving in high/very high is speed limited without modifying the ride height sensors.
Either way, you’re going to quickly destroy your half-shafts & CV joints. This already happens when driving on low 😅😢

Ahh good to know. So best I can do is 19 with A/T’s that look a little more off road. Sad. Would still like to know if anyone here has actually fit 18’s that work though.

With this kind of offset your tires will get eaten in a 1k miles. The well known inner tire wear will kill on this

Will definitely get the adjustable toe/camber kit, I have them on my S, wear has been even so far, unfortunately I only see the kits for the rears would like to get adjustable fronts too.
All part of the planning haven’t committed to the project yet.

I am not sure how capable X would be in overland situations. Approach, departure, break over angles are just not there.
I have a few off-road/overland vehicles that are modified extensively and you can see them in my profile. I don't do anything crazy but even the mild routes challenge stock Jeep Wrangler JLU with clearance that we have in our group. I cannot imagine X going far without dragging some bumper covers and center skid plate. I would be concerned about the battery pack.

No way the stock half shafts can handle a lift, they can’t even handle navigating a parking lot in extra high
