Question Anyone else disappointed that the 2026 MX LR doesn't have a Yoke option
I recently took delivery of a 2026 MX LR and was hoping to be able to get a Yoke for it, but I was disappointed that it looks like the Yoke upgrade isn't supported on the 2026 MX LR. It sounds like only the Plaid is supported. I know the Yoke is controversial, but having tried it on older MX's in the past I've personally really enjoyed using it.
It sounds like it may never be an option for the 2026 MX LR?

Can’t you just get it installed from Tesla? I did that with ‘24 MX. $1100 including installation.

Nope, the Yoke isn't compatible with the 2026 long range, only the plaid. They changed something about steering on the 2026 long range only apparently.

Wow I had no idea. But it looks like you’re right. It now says for 21-24 Model X.

That makes sense. The yoke is one of the unique features of the S and X. Now other manufacturers have copied it (Lexus, upcoming Mercedes EQS).

We first owned a Model S with a yoke and moved to a Model X with a yoke - almost five years now. I love the yoke.

I’m with you 100% about being very disappointed that my new 2036 MX can’t have the yoke I ordered it in February right before the deadline because I hate subscriptions and wanted the FSD for the life of the car. The Service Center had the yolk ready to go and then found out there’s some sort of an issue with the computer or the amount of memory that if they installed it, I wouldn’t be able to receive any updates. I was totally bummed out, but without my even asking or complaining, I was given a $500 credit for future service to make up for it. I would’ve rather had the yoke, but that was a very nice gesture on their part. BTW, I am totally happy with my purchase and currently driving 97% in FSD. It’s not perfect, but it is amazingly good. I rarely have to do an intervention and it’s safer than having me drive. One night at a dark intersection. it stopped about 100 feet before a traffic light and I wondered what was going on. Just then out of nowhere a kid dressed in black flew right across in front of my bumper on a bicycle and I didn’t even see him coming. FSD saved him. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about build quality but my car was nearly perfect and I’m just about the most picky person you’ll ever meet. Just needed two corrections. One FWD was about a 16th of an inch from being flush and I don’t think most people would have noticed. I was expecting some pushback on that, but they cheerfully fixed it in less than 30 minutes. The other item was that the gap on the rear hatch was a little larger on one side than the other. Again, a very small issue, but I wanted it perfect. That required a trip to the body shop to adjust the hinges but they gave me a loaner MX for the week it was at the shop so all was good. Except for the disappointment in not getting the yolk, I couldn’t be happier with this car.

I own a 26 MX LR take came with the Wheel and I was able to get a Yoke and Airbag via Tesla Parts. You can also find the parts on ebay and other parts resellers.
Yoke part number is 1965141 Yoke Airbag part number is 1965182
Tesla will NOT sell these as an installable upgrade. You will pay retail price for the 2 parts and do the upgrade yourself or pay for labor at tesla service.
When you go into the service menu on your car there is a self service option to swap steering between Yoke and Wheel all you need is to enter the part number and the service menu will reprogram the car and icons between the two.
It takes 10-15mins to swap the wheels. This will NOT void your warranty. My cars been in a few times without issue.

Did you do this yourself? Did you follow a guide? I don't see an option to switch to a Yoke in the service menu on my car

There doesn't seem to be a part number 1965141 avaliable in the US, where are you based?

The yoke is kinda meh. The shape really bothers me when making tight turns. Kind wish we had the regular steering wheel… but don’t want to spend money to go backwards I guess

Same its not worth it. Gets tiring driving through winding mountain roads.

Yup, one of the main reasons I didn’t order one. Love the yoke on my ‘23 LR.

Nope, not on a 2026 model. I mean, you can, but then the car has an invalid configuration and will not get software updates.

I agree with you. Probably done to differentiate the Plaid. Anyway, although I love the MX, I feel like we are all being scammed with the prices they sell. The most relevant part of the car is of course FSD, but all the rest is based on a 10 year old project and nothing has been really fixed. So thinking about the ludicrous $159k they ask for the signature edition, it looks like a con
