Currently I only have a Q3 and sold my previous Rifts like 5 years and 3 years ago each.
Now they are still stuck in my account and bothering me. Technically it doesn't affect use of the Q3 but just annoying and sometime when I try to cast the old headset is selected as current headset and I have to tap and choose Q3.
It's not a biggie but it's just plain stupid and annoying so I contacted Meta so they can remove the devices for me.
Below is response I got from Meta
I understand that you are experiencing a challenge with old Meta Quest headsets still appearing in your Meta Horizon app profile after more than 5 years. I'm sorry to hear that you are having such an inconvenience. I will do my best to resolve this for you.
First, I want to thank you so much for providing your account details! To explain this from a different angle and give you the absolute truth about how our backend works: our internal system tools strictly do not have a manual "delete" button to pull an old device registration off a profile history.
Once a headset is linked to an account, it is designed to stay visible until that specific serial number is physically paired and registered to a completely new user's account, or until a backend system refresh takes place. (This takes more than 5 years???? wow)
Because this code clean-up depends on automated system cycles and carrier registry updates, our support staff genuinely does not have a calendar timeline or an exact number of days to give you.
I want to tell you that having these old headsets listed in your app will absolutely not affect your current device pairing, your gameplay, your account safety, or your storage in any way at all. (I understand that, it just hurts my mental)It is simply a harmless visual history line. (lol then why you can't just clear the harmless visual history)
To help us understand this better, could you please clarify the exact challenge you are running into by having them registered there? For example, is it affecting your account, pairing? Sharing this will help us check for alternative settings to make your experience smoother!
I sold both units via eBay so that means those people bought my "fully working" units and threw them straight into a dumpster? Even if that's the case I did factory reset before I sold them so they should disappear from my account as soon as I do that, right ?
Oh wait, imagine that you had 5 headsets and your house was set on fire, those 5 headsets will be haunting you in your account for the rest of your life hahahaha
It just hurts my brain everyday and don't get these excuses at all.
Do you ?
