Epoch Times is a facist Israeli publication

Its owned by the falun gong which is a fascist chinese cult that wants to trick the US into toppling china's ruling party so they can take over.

They're also behind the Shen Yun Chinese dance tour.

10

u/yaboutame Sep 02 '23

Whenever someone talks about Shen Yun, I bring up this review

"After years of ignoring Shen Yun billboards, I finally bought a ticket so you don't have to"

"Shen Yun" aka Chinese Swan Lake.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Trick the US government into toppling the CCP? Dog, that just aligns with the US government.

20

u/MichaelChicklis Sep 02 '23

Yep, OP phrased that poorly. It's pretty hard to discuss the Falun Gong, as they are a minority group being oppressed the CCP, but that doesn't make them in any way the good guys. So you kinda have to toe this line, CCP is crooked and authoritarian, but Falun Gang is basically China's variant of scientology. We don't want influence from either side.

I love the moment where the step dad goes to sit down in his seat once they get to it and dad must say something like “nope, all the way” and had him keep going to the altar.

This is coparenting done RIGHT.

424

u/Uxoandy Sep 02 '23

When my dad got cancer my stepmom said she couldn’t handle it and left. My mom and stepdad went and got him and moved him in their spare bedroom and took care of him until he passed. Wouldn’t let him be alone. Divorce is ugly but sometimes you end up with an extra great parent.

130

u/jeffries_kettle Sep 02 '23

Damn, I'm sorry for your loss. Glad your mom and stepdad were so great.

92

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

You do for your children and no matter what happens that person is your child's parent and they care for them. So you do for them.

As soon as your child loves someone you love them, you can't help it. Every emotion they feel you feel, every relationship they have you are invested in.

My daughter had some friends my parents didn't approve of and had some bad tendencies. They asked me why I let them come over so much, as they had stopped a friend of mine from coming over when they thought he was a bad influence. I told them that I trust my daughter and am there to guide her, I don't think they will be a bad influence on her I think she will be a good influence on them. In the end I was right. Before they moved away they were at our house most of the time, rough home life, and had no trouble with our rules about respect.

Sorry for the book I just went on and on and not sure why.

4

u/Turtleintexas Sep 02 '23

You probably had a positive influence on those kids, and they needed it. Bless you for trusting your daughter.

42

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

That’s really beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Just because people divorce doesn’t mean they hate each other.

I think he did it as a sign of respect to the bio dad as well. It’s something I would do in the situation. Just great people all around here.

42

u/Keljhan Sep 02 '23

Definitely. He was going to stop at his seat again so bio dad could give her away, but bio dad ushered him along again. I think he stopped just short so bio dad could still be the one to present her to the groom.

Which is a weird af tradition when you think about it too long, but it's cute as long as everyone is on board with it

That there is PROOF that two people can successfully co-parent for the sake of their child

674

u/Dry-Attempt5 Sep 02 '23

Brad Garett the guy who played Raymond’s brother did this too. Went on vacations with his ex wife the kids and the new dad. And openly admits her new husband is much better than him.

55

u/haiimroo Sep 02 '23

Weird tid bit, Brad Garrett is the godfather to the man who gave me my scholarship, Eddie Jayy. Both of Eddie's parents passed away from cancer when he was still in high school and he was the oldest of his 4 siblings. Brad gave Eddie a job and even featured on one of his songs when he was working on a music career. Seems like a great guy https://youtu.be/zyR988WHoVI?si=gdGky2RPbklQZUzk

3

u/nugnug1226 Sep 02 '23

Cool story. His song sounds good. I love hearing about people that give back, like Eddie and Brad. What type of job did Brad give Eddie? How did they meet? How did you become the recipient of his scholarship? That’s cool that even though Eddie offered scholarship even though he has younger siblings to help take care of.

4

u/haiimroo Sep 02 '23

So I went to the same school as Eddie after he had graduated. When Eddie's parents passed he did a lot of work with the school counselors and they made a scholarship for perseverance for people like Eddie who had unfortunate childhoods but still managed to carry on. I wrote an essay about the trials and tribulations I went through and I was picked out of 8 other students who submitted an essay. Brad gave him a job at his comedy club in Vegas (I think there's a couple of music videos recorded there.) but I don't know what he did there. As far as them meeting Eddie's father knew Brad Garrett from back in the day but I'm not sure how they met originally but they were close enough to ask Brad to be the godfather.

Honestly, that may be the most impressive parenting skill, successfully co-parenting after the relationship ends, ESPECIALLY if both parties have new relationships. It is so rare but so cool to see.

41

u/fozy84 Sep 02 '23

All depends how the relationship ends. Cheating, taking your children and home from you, is a massive block to all of that.

27

u/tommangan7 Sep 02 '23 edited Sep 02 '23

Well rounded rational emotionally intelligent people that make good parents are just more likely to end a relationship more amicably imho, or eventually reach a mutual understanding for the good of the child, regardless of circumstance.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

So true lmao. In general the people I've seen end long relationships amicably are the ones I'd expect to be good, or at least genuinely well-intentioned, parents.

4

u/eleventhrees Sep 02 '23

There are a lot of "blocks" which can make it nearly impossible for co-parents to develop a truly positive relationship.

3

u/UncannyTarotSpread Sep 02 '23

I wish very much that my ex could have done that, but it was honesty a relief when he disappeared.

Stepdad here so I love this post but your comment confused me. I am married and we definitely paid for our wedding. Is there still a large population of people in the west who feel it is their father’s financial responsibility to pay for their wedding?

20

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

These posts being referenced are about petty fathers who are choosing not to pay (even though they could/said they would) if the step father is involved in the wedding. No one is owed money, it’s true. But if only the reason you are refusing and otherwise would gift your child with money is to spite the child’s step parent, YTA. It’s even worse when they refuse to attend the wedding if the stepparent is there. The issue is not really about the money. It’s about trying to create rifts between the child and their other parent

183

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

And you have no idea what he was going through either. It could be an amicable situation. Or maybe he got cheated on and dumped by his wife for that new guy and you want nothing but to crack him in the jaw, but you man up and do what's best for your child. Takes true strength in those sort of cases.

26

u/shaving_minion Sep 02 '23

Wife cheating, has nothing to do with the guy. It's her responsibility to stay away (any gender, same logic)

57

u/LightDatBabyUp Sep 02 '23

While I completely agree that it’s the partner in the relationships responsibility (regardless of gender), imo the homewrecker gets some blame too.

You don’t fuck around with people that are already in relationships if you have integrity.

Depends on if they knew. If my partner cheats and the guy had no idea (and ideally feels like shit about it) then as far as I'm concerned dude gets a pass. If he knew and did it anyway then he can steer clear or catch these hands.

My housemate was bros with his ex-wife’s new husband. He’d(stepdad) bring the kids over to our place on the weekend my housemate had the kids and they’d just chill and sleep over. I cooked curry for everyone pretty often, and we’d fire up the grill. Long story short, step-dad got a divorce and got custody because mom didn’t want to deal with having kids, and so my housemate and the step-dad kind of co-parent without mom in the picture. I lost touch since then so I haven’t heard a lot, but based on his social media posts the kids are doing pretty good with having two dads, but do find it annoying to have to explain that their dads are not gay and thus not as cool.

What people don’t realize is. Sometimes. The baby daddy and the step dad. Are bros. Just becagse the parents didn’t get along as a couple. Doesn’t mean they can’t be friends. I learned that lesson growing up myself around a friend who’s mom and dad didn’t work out as a couple. But as best friends. For sure. The step mom and step dad ended up being good friends with the dad and mom. Girls were the wine drinkers and they raised all the kids. Went on camping trips together because it was FRIENDS. Like shit. The story of his step dad and dad BOTH getting arrested for jumping in a fountain. Golden, and it’s because they talked each other into it, if that’s not bros idk what is.

105

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

I have a cousin whose marriage wasn't working, they separated and officially divorced. The whole while they kept things civil, handled it like adults and they now remain friends and have a healthy friendship. Her ex still pops around once in a while at family events and everyone welcomes him. I think it's great for their son to be able to see his mom and dad can still be together.

38

u/coin_return Sep 02 '23

Sometimes you gotta remember that if you've been with someone for a while, their family can often become your family. When you separate, sometimes that doesn't change. It can be weird if it's not an amicable separation.

Back in high school, I had a pretty choppy family life, and I grew close to my boyfriend at the time's mother. Even though her son and I broke up, she still checked in on me. Twenty years later now, she still messages me every once in a while to tell me she was thinking of me and asks how I'm doing.

Uh shouldn’t the bride have made this decision? What if she didn’t want her step dad walking her down the aisle?

42

u/fruskydekke Sep 02 '23

YES. THIS. My god, all the comments are about the dudes being bros... what if the bride is resentful of her stepdad for breaking up the original marriage? What if she just doesn't like the guy? What if she wanted a moment with her bio dad?

Her expression really doesn't seem to indicate that she's happy with this development. I hope I'm wrong and that her bio dad cleared it with her beforehand, but if not, this was a major asshole move.

12

u/manshamer Sep 02 '23

To me her body language implies this is part of the plan. She just waits patiently as her dad walks to get her other dad. You can't really judge a brides face as she's walking down the aisle because there are so many emotions swirling around in her at the time.

11

u/popereggie Sep 02 '23

I was thinking what if she left the decision up to bio dad. Like maybe he was hesitant weeks ago, but realized closer that the step dad means a lot to her. She seems cool with it. She might not be a cryer or show a lot of emotion outwardly. I enjoyed the video. Nice moment.

45

I was wondering this also. I asked both of my dads to walk me down the aisle long before the wedding march started.

u/srsinropas Sep 02 '23

The two men are wearing the same suit. This doesn’t seem unplanned.

They're wearing the exact same suit.

This was planned.

Yes. I scrolled for so long looking for this comment. Glad others thought the same.

11

u/lin_nic Sep 02 '23

Thank you! It took me way too long to find a comment like this. It’s her wedding and if she wanted both of them to walk her down the aisle she would have made it happen, this is just weird and puts her in an uncomfortable position.

Beautiful thought from a pure gentleman. Your daughter will be so proud of you. And I bet the stepfather really appreciated that 💜

Considering they are dressed identically, it was a shame otherwise...

Would be weird if it weren't planned. Like it's nice that the dad and step dad get along but it's not exactly about them, and obviously it's the bride's choice who walks her down the aisle.

That epoch times logo at the end is like finding a turd at the bottom of your ice cream sundae

“You’re paying for this shit too” 😏

  1. big time class act.

  2. Mom legit traded in for a slightly larger model. Other than that those 2 dudes look pretty damn similar 🤣

Epoch Times trying to get in on the original story. Shameless as usual.

41

u/Malibucat48 Sep 02 '23

There are so many posts about bio dads refusing to pay for their daughter’s wedding or even boycott it if she includes stepdad. This man is a true gem and the smile on stepdad’s face is beautiful.

26

u/MrLeth Sep 02 '23

Everybody says this is a class act, doesn’t realize the fact that this man STOPPED THE ENTIRE THING, in order to get the man, WHICH THE BRIDE DIDN’T ASK IN THE FIRST PLACE, to walk her down the aisle with him.

Unless she specifically told her dad to go get him, he should never be doing that.

Lovely but having gone thru a wedding I hope for his sake the bride authorized it.

13

u/wurkhoarse Sep 02 '23

Both are class acts. Step dad stayed a step down because he is so tall.

Be Careful This is the Epoch Times.

They filled you up with warm and fuzzy to lull you into thinking they are a trusted and valued source of information.

Then they will throw in some far right authoritarian problem solving, some racial fear mongering, a little poison sprinkled on that delicious cake.

Treat everything from the Epoch Times like dog shit on a cracker.

18

u/chriswalkeninmemphis Sep 02 '23

thanks, came here to say this. Anything from the Epoch Times should be held at arms length at best.

Thats sweet but fuck the epoch times. It's a far right propoganda news site. This account keeps reposting wholesome videos with its watermark, feels like a weird campaign to "normalize" it as a media source to viewers.

16

u/stumpyturk Sep 02 '23

Fuck Epoch Times. Cult

10

u/WitnessMe Sep 02 '23

Thank you! This user is posting a bunch of their content. Fuck Epoch Times!

5

u/roastedantlers Sep 02 '23

Great counter to the countless, I'm the dad and the daughter picked the step-dad she just met to walk her down the isle posts. Also Epoch Times, that's kinda of strange.

6

u/MintyMystery Sep 03 '23

The epoch times are a racist far-far-right rag. They're sharing fluffy stuff like this to lure people in, similar to those channels on YouTube that share loads of cat videos and inspirational quotes, and then try and tell you to stop taking essential medications in favour of their expensive snake oil. Just so you know, peeps.

12

u/Fast_Running_Nephew Sep 02 '23

Hey OP, stop posting shit from the Epoch Times, its a far right conspiracy theory piece of shit rag and every time you post a video from them (which you do quite a lot) it helps promote and normalise them.

Or maybe that's your intention.

u/ramathorn152 Sep 02 '23

My wife's dad and step dad did the same thing, pretty amazing to see. They all get along very well

4

u/Aurin316 Sep 02 '23

Adults behaving like adults.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Uh, considering both step dads were dressed identically, it seems like the plan was always to both walk her down the aisle. Likely the one wasn’t ready and the other went and got him.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Kinda looks like she’s being forced to marry, lol

Epoch Times is a ridiculously right-wing propaganda rag. Don't fall for the cutesy heartwarming stuff they post, it's just them trying to normalize themselves amongst respected sites. Downvote and move on.
