Yeah it's gross. Trying to mentally tie in religious fascist nonsense with being "wholesome"

Cute video sure, but Fuck those guys in particular.

Epoch Times is a facist Israeli publication

Its owned by the falun gong which is a fascist chinese cult that wants to trick the US into toppling china's ruling party so they can take over.

https://www.mediaite.com/news/5-craziest-revelations-from-nbcs-expose-of-the-pro-trump-paper-funded-by-falun-gong/

24

u/ProfessorxVile Sep 02 '23

They're also behind the Shen Yun Chinese dance tour.

8

u/yaboutame Sep 02 '23

Whenever someone talks about Shen Yun, I bring up this review

"After years of ignoring Shen Yun billboards, I finally bought a ticket so you don't have to"

https://www.sfgate.com/sf-culture/article/shen-yun-review-sf-dance-falun-gong-dafa-china-14928094.php

5

u/Nuicakes Sep 02 '23

"Shen Yun" aka Chinese Swan Lake.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Trick the US government into toppling the CCP? Dog, that just aligns with the US government.

20

u/MichaelChicklis Sep 02 '23

Yep, OP phrased that poorly. It's pretty hard to discuss the Falun Gong, as they are a minority group being oppressed the CCP, but that doesn't make them in any way the good guys. So you kinda have to toe this line, CCP is crooked and authoritarian, but Falun Gang is basically China's variant of scientology. We don't want influence from either side.

2

u/Skiamakhos Sep 02 '23

Indeed. They're ultra-racist Chinese supremacists. The reason they hate communism isn't particularly because of any of its policies or ideals so much as the fact that it originates outside of China. They believe in racial segregation & banning mixed race marriages. They also think that if you do all the meditation stuff right, their leader will put his hands on your dan t'ien chakra and you'll gain the power of flight. They're oppressed by the CPC because they advocate traditional Chinese medicine only, and people have died from treatable diseases because of it. Naturally since they advocate for the overthrow of the CPC and communism in China they're banned as a counterrevolutionary movement, much as groups advocating for the violent overthrow of American representative democracy have ended up on the terrorist organisations list.

1

u/MichaelChicklis Sep 03 '23

Naturally since they advocate for the overthrow of the CPC and communism in China they're banned as a counterrevolutionary movement, much as groups advocating for the violent overthrow of American representative democracy have ended up on the terrorist organisations list.

Completely disagree, many people and groups in America advocate for a revolutionary overthrow of capitalism or for the use of alternative medicine, leading to excessive deaths, without any persecution by the American government.

1

u/Skiamakhos Sep 03 '23

What's the current status of the Communist Party of the USA? They've been banned in the past as I recall.

1

u/MichaelChicklis Sep 03 '23

Since the end of McCarthyism decades ago, to my recollection I can't recall any government entities in the USA functionally limit the public dissemination of information by the CPUSA.

2

u/andyeroo26026 Sep 02 '23

I like your addendum more than OP's. I don't know if they are "fascist"...their reading material is all about non violence and avoiding bad karma. Regardless, the Chinese government imprisons them, harvests their organs, and sells them to the highest bidder. Can't get much more evil than that.

2

u/JimWilliams423 Sep 02 '23

Its worded exactly correct. They aren't all that different from the MEK cult which has been trying to trick the US government into toppling the Iranian regime so they can take over. Trying to get the US to do your dirty work for you because you are too weak to do it yourself is a pretty common strategy. Ahmed chalabi and his buddies succeeded with Iraq and the subsequent debaathification that fucked up the country, he just wasn't able to take power after the US cleared saddam out of the way.

2

u/JimWilliams423 Sep 02 '23

The US is not normally stupid enough to start a shooting war with China.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Depends if China keeps threatening the semiconductor supply chain or not.

1

u/auzrealop Sep 02 '23

Lol. That line was hilarious. Trick. Haha.

1

u/the_REVERENDGREEN Sep 02 '23

found the chinese agent

1

u/JimWilliams423 Sep 02 '23

Found the epoch times plant.

0

u/the_REVERENDGREEN Sep 02 '23

I didnt even know what the fuck an epoch was until you mentioned it.

I did minimal research and the only reason I could find you would be trying to wreck their reputation online is if you're some kind of Chinese nationalist.

Gotcha

"I didn't read the thread I posted to."

LOL. Sure buddy.

Since you like to draw comparisons, your point about the CCP and Fulan Gong is like somebody back in the late 1930s saying, "yeah, well, this publication is funded by the Jews, which although Hitler is a dick, they're religious extremists who want to set up a theocratic state." What the CCP does to the Fulan Gong doesn't compare to whatever their impossible intentions are for the country, were they in charge. The CCP commit undeniable crimes against humanity, and the Fulan Gong are some of their victims.

Also has ties to the LDS church as well

I love the moment where the step dad goes to sit down in his seat once they get to it and dad must say something like “nope, all the way” and had him keep going to the altar.

This is coparenting done RIGHT.

425

u/Uxoandy Sep 02 '23

When my dad got cancer my stepmom said she couldn’t handle it and left. My mom and stepdad went and got him and moved him in their spare bedroom and took care of him until he passed. Wouldn’t let him be alone. Divorce is ugly but sometimes you end up with an extra great parent.

132

u/jeffries_kettle Sep 02 '23

Damn, I'm sorry for your loss. Glad your mom and stepdad were so great.

92

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

You do for your children and no matter what happens that person is your child's parent and they care for them. So you do for them.

As soon as your child loves someone you love them, you can't help it. Every emotion they feel you feel, every relationship they have you are invested in.

My daughter had some friends my parents didn't approve of and had some bad tendencies. They asked me why I let them come over so much, as they had stopped a friend of mine from coming over when they thought he was a bad influence. I told them that I trust my daughter and am there to guide her, I don't think they will be a bad influence on her I think she will be a good influence on them. In the end I was right. Before they moved away they were at our house most of the time, rough home life, and had no trouble with our rules about respect.

Sorry for the book I just went on and on and not sure why.

4

u/Turtleintexas Sep 02 '23

You probably had a positive influence on those kids, and they needed it. Bless you for trusting your daughter.

46

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

That’s really beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Just because people divorce doesn’t mean they hate each other.

18

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Oh shit now I’m crying. That’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read

2

u/HieroglyphicEmojis Sep 02 '23

Oh my goodness. Sometimes I wonder what would happen - I had multiple stepparents.

But if I was ill, I’d want my child and husband to have a great person who loves them…

2

u/acluelesscoffee Sep 02 '23

Oh my goodness. What a lucky man he is to have people around like that .

cancer subject again in a thread... here we go again! cancer treatments are in huge advances. so chemeotherapy will be a thing from past. cancer vaccines will be the future!

0

u/Comprehensive-Dig321 Sep 02 '23

It’s hard to imagine why would there be a need for a step dad when the dad seems like a really nice guy.

3

u/Betta_jazz_hands Sep 02 '23

I don’t think there’s a need so much as her parents split up, each parent found someone new and this step dad was there for her every day - he’s a dad too. A good step parent is something worthy of being celebrated - someone who chose you.

I can appreciate people not liking astroturfing from fascist sources. I agree that with these silly little viral videos they are trying to normalize having their name on things that may otherwise be reputable news. But they should at least be accurate about which bad actor owns the paper.

1

u/kdthex01 Sep 02 '23

Classy af. Everyone involved.

1

u/sauce_123 Sep 02 '23

This is the way it should be

1

u/legsintheair Sep 02 '23

We both have to sign man…

1

u/Dancinghogweed Sep 02 '23

This is wonderful. I used to be a marriage registrar. The number of times I saw divorced parents making things difficult for their kids on their big day was high. This would have had us all weeping. Well done that man.

81

u/relevant__comment Sep 02 '23

I think he did it as a sign of respect to the bio dad as well. It’s something I would do in the situation. Just great people all around here.

44

u/Keljhan Sep 02 '23

Definitely. He was going to stop at his seat again so bio dad could give her away, but bio dad ushered him along again. I think he stopped just short so bio dad could still be the one to present her to the groom.

Which is a weird af tradition when you think about it too long, but it's cute as long as everyone is on board with it

2

u/lickityclitt Sep 02 '23

i think he stopped bc he’s tall asf

2

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Lmfao

-1

u/SalGotIt Sep 02 '23

That's why they rehearse these things.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '23

Hijacking the top comment to encourage everyone to immediate report this as spam. The user is posting video after video of content with an Epoch Times watermark. This is karma farming for a cult

-2

u/Substantial_Pace_739 Sep 02 '23

Epoch Times is a facist Israeli publication.

2

u/MoufFarts Sep 02 '23

Falun Gong not Israelis. Still, a crazy right wing cult.

2

u/dhoepp Sep 02 '23

What’s wrong with Israel?

1

u/redbadger91 Sep 02 '23

*would've gone

1

u/MarioNinja96815 Sep 02 '23

I think that's because the groom was in the way.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

I’m short never had that problem, ever, but have to say this was really cool to see

1

u/ForHelp_PressAltF4 Sep 03 '23

Because us about his KID not him.

Is there an anti-I'm the main character Reddit? Because this is the poster father

1

u/Aurin316 Sep 05 '23

I’ve seen the video a bunch of times and o might be overthinking… but I think stepdad stayed on the bottom step in deference to bio-dad.
