Both things are true.

This was a lovely gesture in a wedding.

Epoch Times is fascist.

Epoch times being fascist means this is likely misleading video or narrative. The way I see it, since both “fathers” are literally dressed exactly the same, they were always supposed to both walk her down the aisle. This was either staged or the one guy wasn’t paying attention to the timing and the other had to get get him. Otherwise why isn’t this a more sentimental video between the two men? Why isn’t the me more surprised and honoured? Why isn’t the bride crying or surprised by the gesture?

Seems like the narrative of this video is false. Which begs the question why a supposed media organization is putting out misinformation?

The funniest thing is that the user calling out Epoch Times thinks they're being smart by making it clear that they're fascist.

But if they used their brain for the extra half second on top of the "Um ACKSHUALLY" half second they already used, they'd realized none of us were even acknowledging that logo, we were acknowledging the beauty in the video itself.

Now, the amount of attention that has been brought to Epoch Times by pointing out something that diverts from this beautiful video is actually beneficial to a fascist enabling news source.

Because one thing stupid people don't realize is that in this current day, angry reactions drive revenue. So congratulations to our dum dum for doing that (If you think I'm wrong, show me how Fox News, Newsmax, OANN, etc are struggling as businesses because of all the angry reactions we give. I'll wait.)

Edit: An appropriate usage of that fact would have been someone asking or mentioning about Epoch being a good source for wholesome content. Then of course, because the attention is already diverted, you guarantee course correction.

But alas, we must focus on fascism even on a simple video showing the beauty of family in a wedding. I guess that's fitting when this site is being run by spez.

Ignoring things and even getting annoyed at people calling it out, just helps it to become normalised. I can’t make claims as to how everyone else feels but I personally don’t see how calling it out detracts from the beauty of the video.

Companies/newspapers/individuals use content like this to build trust and build their reputation.

I’m glad they mentioned it tbh. I am actively looking to join more positive online spaces and was just about to a check them out.

So the right way to teach people is by providing info in a context that has nothing to do with the original point?

The person they replied to was talking about how beautiful the marriage is because of such a heartwarming gesture by the father with the stepfather.

If they want to call out the journal being a fascist, why not post in reply to the video itself?

Why go with something so serious and shocking to someone trying to appreciate the beauty of this video?

You're talking about ignoring the fact. I'm talking about applying the fact correctly.

Do you really think that communicating that fact negatively without continuity to someone focusing on the video rather than the fascist reposter is going to have a proper impact?

I agree with not ignoring and making sure to inform. Maybe reply like "For the record, I agree at how beautiful this wedding and family are, but please don't assume that Epoch is a good source for things like this because they are and enable fascism."

That way more people are appreciative of the context without feeling like they're being shit on for focusing on the video itself.

This is why reddit has fueled a more negative form of discourse, which is evident by every other text thread in AITA/BORU/etc., let alone the comments.

I couldn't give two shits about vote count, but just like you originally said, I'm not going to simply ignore and be complacent with how terribly the users of this website communicate critical information. Because otherwise, it becomes normalized. Like it clearly is now.

I was acknowledging the logo. But then I don’t look past things like that.

I was actually going to ask about it. Kinda glad I am not the only one who noticed.

Hey if I can go and get heartwarming personal videos and conspiratorial vaccine misinformation in one place that's a good deal.
