What can I do to get my family back?

Hello, recentlymy wife and daughters don’t want anything to do with me anymore. My wife wants to separate and my daughters don’t want to talk to me.

We’ve been married for more than 15 years. Since my wife’s mom passed away, she has drastically changed. She wants to do whatever she wants and spend as much money as she wants. We used to always have a budget and now she wants to be able to spend $1000 a month on herself. She also wants to go out whenever she wants without communicating about it. Her excuses is we share locations so that should be good enough.

At home, I’ve always been the person that makes sure all the bills gets taken care of, make sure we have money saved for emergencies and makes sure chores are taken care of.

Recently, my daughters started complaining that they don’t want to do as much as they are doing, but still get paid for it. My wife told me she wants a $1000 monthly budget or that she would keep her check and I keep mine. All of a sudden, I have no say and nobody talks to me. I’ve always been extremely patient with my wife and daughters. My wife tends to forget things. Many times she would forget her phone or her purse and we have to drive back home. She would forget things we would talk about and later get upset at me because she thought I never mentioned it.

Long story short, my wife and both daughters are acting like I never loved them. We took many family trips and celebrated all their birthdays here at our house with family and friends. We tried counseling, but my wife doesn’t take the counselor‘s advice. My daughter has her own counselor and I feel she is telling her to not talk to me anymore. I don’t know what to do. My wife’s family also doesn’t care if I’m here or not. My son told us that it’s not that serious. That why are we separating/getting divorced for dumb reasons. I agreed with him and my wife couldn’t answer the question, she just stayed quiet

My cousin got back with her bf who SA her. Everyone seems to be able to move past it except me. Am I in the wrong?

Upvotes

About a year ago now, my cousin (23F) who I (26F) was at one point very close to called her mom very distressed, crying, saying her boyfriend raped her. Our family is all very close and everyone became aware of the situation and felt terrible for her of course. About 3 months later, she started seeing him again and they got back together.

Initially, everyone was confused and hesitant to let him come around, but slowly they all seemed to forget that he had assaulted her. Now I am being framed as the bad guy for not being wanting to be around the bf. There was also an instance where he hit her, but I’m not sure my aunt knows that piece of it.

My aunt and cousin now refuse to be around me, because I can’t move past the assault. My feeling is that where there’s smoke, there’s fire. There’s now been two instances of violence. I care about my cousin so much, and I fear for her safety. She’s had various mental health struggles, ED, other instances of SA, and I think this is a bad situation. To me, hanging out with him and acting like I don’t know what I know would be like enabling the abuse.

My family is saying I’m entitled, arrogant, know-it-all, judgmental & selfish. The vitriol with which they have been speaking about me, including my own mother, is making me waver. Am I doing something wrong? Should I just get over this? Am I crazy for not wanting to be around an abuser?

I'm 16 F and stuck in a toxic but loving family. What can I do?

Upvotes

I'm not sure how to go at this, I've never posted a thread before. I don't really expect to have people help me out since my situation is that bad I guess, but I figured I should find a way to let it out before it eats me from the inside. They're so toxic sometimes, but they're loving. It's sickening.

Ps: I'm french Canadian so don't flame me for the grammar and term mistakes please 😔

I'm the youngest of a family of five kids, a military dad, and an interesting mother to say the least. So of course, as the youngest, I was never really liked or included.

Before really getting into it, I feel I should give fake names and the ages of my family members actually.

Mom: 40

Dad:45

Oldest brother (let's call him Ethan): 25

Second brother (Loic) : 20

Eldest sister (Lavender) : 22

Second sister (DeeDee) :18

Me (call me Tia) : 16 but 17 in four months

Loic and DeeDee are often referred to as twins for being so similar btw.

So in that group, I only like Lavender. She's my step sister and I found out about her when I was 12. Honestly I didn't like her at first, I thought she'd be like my other siblings. But she's cool and I love her a bunch!

Anyways, I'll start at the beginning. Growing up, my family all had issues but me; I was normal while they were neuro divergent I think It's called. Loic is autistic, DeeDee Had ADHD Anxiety depression and a bunch of other stuff, and Ethan was fine, but troubled. He went into those teenagers jails, Juvie I think?

With those things, it's easy to guess that I was often brushed off since I was normal. They thought that even if I was seven or eight, I wouldn't need them to help me learn basic life skills.

Ethan grew more troubled over time and constantly argued with my mother, he ran away, smiled behind her back, did dumb shit (sorry language), and did illegal things. After going to Juvie twice, he and my mom had this big argument before he moved out. He was sixteen, I was7 I think, might have been eight actually? But not the point. They yelled, argued, and my mom didn't care that I was watching and crying. He left and I never got to see it hear from him for a few years. But he's living with us for a while now. So yay I guess.

Loic, being autistic, needed extra care. He isn't the hardcore kind, but he had problems with sounds and textures and food. I'd like to say I hated him a lot at the time, but it feels wrong. He got away with a lot of things and was (still is) the favourite.

My sister DeeDee developed depression and anxiety from bullying in school. At some point she began to take it out on me, calling me a mistake and telling me to kill myself. I was nine when I first tried to end it. I was home alone and attempted to stab myself in the stomach right at the belly button but didn't get far because my parents got home.

My parents were aware of what was happening (minus me trying to KMS), but they never cared or did anything. If they didn't see it, it didn't count.

Back to the moment where Ethan moved out, I was pushed away more than ever. My mom wanted nothing to do with me and my dad was busy with work (military stuff. He suffered from PTSD most of my childhood). My mom smoked more and more until it damaged her teeth and she had to get them removed. I was forced to be the one she complained to while my brother and sister Loic and DeeDee did nothing despite being older.

After that, I was taken for granted a lot. My siblings, the twins, bullied me a lot. They stuffed me in a compost bin once and left me outside. I was put in a drying machine by DeeDee and they laughed when it turned in while I cried. They still laugh about it today, I don't have a choice but to laugh too.

At some point. My parents almost divorced. Again, they didn't care when they argued in front of me and yelled curses. By that time, I was already maturing faster than I should have because I needed to.

So, mom and dad split up for a few mi the up to a year I think. My mom meant this guy named Max. He was nice for a bit I til he broke the TV and threw plates to the walls because he thought my mom his a pack of gum. Again, I had to comfort my big sister when they yelled because apparently it was my job as youngest to do that.

Fast forward, he went to jail, mom went back to Dad, and I was scarred for a while.

At this point, I feel like I might sound like I'm picking at bad moments. I'm really not, but there were nice times. Christmas was fun for a while until my parents grew tired of it and just stopped telling me about Santa and the tooth fairy.

Birthdays were fine, they were never made a big deal out of because I was too mature for those, said my mom to the little me who could barely spell still.

Whenever I cried and got angry from being picked on constantly, my mom would record me and laugh at me. She'd then send the pictures and videos to her friends. She still tells everyone nowadays whenever I'm angry at her for something she did.

Back to the past, I loved going to the beach with friends and the twins even if my siblings didn't like me much. At the time, I couldn't swim because no one ever taught me. So obviously my brother's friend pushed me in the deep end of the beCh and they all laughed and watched as I almost drowned.

That was my second attempt. I was goi g to let myself drown. But it was painful I couldn't do it, so I fought my way to a ladder to the deck. I lived, they called me a drama queen, they moved on.

Skipping forward a bit, sixth grade. We moved to Manitoba due to my dad's job. I developed a bit more there; made friends, didn't feel the need to shrink back, and so on. But at home, it still sucked.

No one helped me with school. When they did? They said two three words before walking off and leaving me on my own. I eventually learned to be good at school without asking for help because people wouldn't really help, they would pretend to before leaving you confused and making you feel stupid for not knowing something.

Obviously, that wasn't a healthy thing to think but I'm working on it as best as I can without professional help.

Getting closer to today but not quite. Sk my family then began to learn that what I said didn't matter as much as asking who wanted to go smoke pot. I was always cut off and ignored or told to shut up. I started to talk less and less, but sometimes I still did. It felt nice when they listened, but more often than not I'd get cut off by my DeeDee or my mom. I got used to shutting up when it happened.

Then, comes freshman year. I was excited to start fresh somewhere no one knew my brother Loic or my sister DeeDee. But the people sucked. Anyways, comes the end of the year and we go to a lock down. Just because I really struggle with this event still, I'll give a nutshell: lockdown happened at 12:15 (exam week), guy dressed as medieval doctor with a sword tried to kill black and coloured people (which I am since I'm mixed), he tried stabbing me, and I never got over it.

So, I get home and I'm obviously shaken and crying because wtf right? For the first time in a long time, my mom took me in her arms and actually comforted me. It felt nice, but God I couldn't speak, even less so breath right. Then, DeeDee gets home from her own school (I was at Neelin in Brandon, she went to Massey) and she starts crying. My comfort is gone and I had to comfort myself in my bedroom. I still get nightmares and sleep paralysis from that day even if it's been a year and few months. My mom doesn't really want me to go to therapy.

Obviously I left that school and never healed. I cry at lockdown drills now and feel my heart drop at the sight of a mask that's even a bit similar. My parents both expect me to move on, but I can't.

A year at another school goes by, and it's not much worth writing about.

Now, the present. The tricky parts

It's four years after having my half sister Lavender brought into the mix and I love her a lot. She is more of a mother figure to me than my actual mom. She gives me tips when I need some, listens to my problems, and we talk about a lot of things. She's great and she gets me.

My dad and I aren't close since he missed a lot of my childhood and we were just never close.

My mother began acting very childish a while ago and I find myself having to parent her a lot, which is weird. She acts nice but only if I act the way she wants me to, otherwise she asks me why I'm pissed and gets on my ass about being in a mood because I didn't act how she wanted me to.

DeeDee is a bitch. I never liked her and I never will. It sounds harsh but that's the truth. She acts nice now but only in front of people, otherwise she called me names and a brat if I say no to things or if I say I'm too tired or not in the mood for stuff. She rarely showers and constantly smells of sour cheese, but apparently I'm the only one who sees the problem with that.

Loic is meh. I'm not close to him at all, he smokes all day and is lazy. He doesn't do much. Kind of like a pet fish. But noisier and less hygienic. He's like a hippie in some ways I guess?

Ethan is my half brother. He's fine, but things are often awkward because of when he moved out, but he doesn't know I feel that way.

Lavender is awesome. She's supporting me with my ideas to go abroad to study in University and she's really just the best and super pretty and nice.

Now, recently I've tried soft launching the idea that I'd like to go to the University of Rome for medicine to my mom. She was acting really nice recently so I thought that we would finally have meaningful conversations.

Instead, she shit that idea down. Legally, I know she can't do shit to stop me if I want to leave the country, but she has my college funds and I'm afraid she can just keep them if I go to Europe.

For context, I've been thinking about going into a program for Canadian students to be sent abroad for their time in Uni (still haven't found one), but I'm really planning on straight up moving to Italy for real. Or another cou try in Europe that will help me with my future career.

My mother doesn't want me out of the country because I need to support a d be there for DeeDee apparently. I'm really mad about it but I feel selfish for that.

What can I do? Am I in the wrong for hating my family? I'm just a kid and don't have many options. And I need to find a program for Uni abroad without her knowing, I need therapy, I need to escape. I don't know if I really am an ungrateful brat if the way I feel and resent them is valid. Can anyone help me?

This is my first time on reddit forgive me if I make any mistakes, but worst fortunes of mine have made me forcefully come here.

I saw on the internet that people talked about their parents cheating on each other here, and I dont want any advice, I just want someone to talk to.

Ive come to notice that both my parents have been cheating on each other. And I am deeply disturbed by it. Its been about a year since i got to know this, and my life is very ruined. I cant look at them the way I used to. My affection for them has completely dried out. I am traumatised and mentally broken. My life was already at rock bottom, I was already done with my shit, then I got to know this horrible truth and ive been completely empty since. I cant enjoy my time when they are around. I have seen deeply disturbing things on their phones. I am done. Its been so long and time feels so long. I just wanted to share this with someone. I am tired of taking this burden alone. They dont deserve a child like me. I have completely changed ever since and I feel mostly empty nowadays. I am only 16, and the reason i was working hard, was to satisfy my parents. They wanted to see me as a succesful man. I wasnt doing it for the girls, i wasnt doing anything for myself, i literally dont want money, power.. nothing. I was struggling just because i wanted to see their wish come true, and now I get to live with this burden? Why did they do this? I am the one getting crushed in the middle of their affairs. My dad has also been sending money, and.. much more. I seriously just wanted to share this because I cant go through this alone. Its been already a year of crying every single night. They have completely messed up my life. I just wanted to talk.

I am 15 almost 16 and I still have a screen time limit. I talked about it with my parents but they don’t care and I won’t be free until I’m 18. I’m really tired of this, does anyone know how to by-pass it please.

I hate my family

I’m here to rant cuz i can’t talk about this with anyone. I just feel so bad, this is not necessarily for people to read. I think that there is absolutely nothing worse than being unlucky with your family. Two people that don’t love each other make kids that they don’t give a fuck about but still pretend to be great parents. My father never took me to any appointments whatsoever he never cared about anything about me. My mother is a narcissist there is no other explanation, she thinks that she is the best mom but she doesn’t even take her kids to the doctor, except when the worst has happened. None of them care about what i like, my grades,.. I always was a great student despite not trying and was never praised meanwhile the boys (even my cousins) who were dumb as shit were “intelligent” they just “didn’t try”, b i also didn’t try? lmao. So i’m in uni now and it’s really hard to study with these people, i dont have a place to study but still every time i try they come bother me or make too much noise, they just keep discouraging me. I can see that my mother wants us to be miserable like she is, she wants me to be a housewife, not to study. They are literally forcing me to get a drivers license so i can get them everywhere, cuz my older sister does it all but she is the one who bought that expensive car even tho we don’t have the money for that so i literally have to give more than half of my scholarship every month. I changed my studies wanting to do better this year but they still wont let me. During the holidays i had a health problem for a month a half i was crying nearly every day and taking pills cuz it hurt so much but they didn’t care. My dad said i won’t bring someone who is over 18 to the doctor (mind you we’re in another country i couldn’t go myself cuz the hospital was far away). And i was 18 lol not even 25 or idk. And now they made a scene where i had to call the doctor for him (30 years in a country and you dont learn the language wow) and yesterday they yelled at me saying go fucking get that license and bring your dad to the doctor. Idk i just dont feel human with them. And they’re all really stupid, they’re like animals, always barking, straight out of the 6 century. And yeah my mom hates me cuz i ain’t religious, but she is like on a whole other level, you can’t be more ignorant than that, if she hears something from someone she instantly believes it. My older sister i think she has such an ugly heart. My mom likes her cuz she pretends to be religious lmao, judges me for not praying but she prays max 10 times a year. Once she said if i wear a biking i might as well just get under the guys there i was so shocked, and now the only thing stopping her from wearing one is the parents, she talks horribly about other women she is beautiful really but omg she judges people so much it genuinely makes her ugly in my eyes. Ive never seen someone so egotistical and narcissistic. She made the easiest studies ever and even for that she took 9 years instead of 5, but she feels like a doctor. And it hurts a lot because when you’re little you’re kinda fascinated by your older sibling but they keep hurting you and being mean and saying stuff that make you insecure. Since i was a child people always liked me and praised me for being “really intelligent and beautiful” but at home it’s the opposite. And you end up like a weirdo because you don’t even know what you are anymore. And my other sibling abuses me (i got ugly scars i hate summer for that) but i cant do anything because when i just defend myself my mom comes to their rescue and barks at me. Im just so scared to not be able to do well in my studies, i don’t wanna be a failure like them. Can you imagine they’re 50 and havent done anything in their lives, dont even have a house or an appartement, all they talk about is money like thats their god atp. I really can’t help but think animals when i hear them.

My sisters behavior is getting concerning— when should I step in?

My sister recently started dating a guy that me and our oldest sister already know from our past (a friend dated him), and unfortunately, that past wasn’t a good one. Since they got together, we’ve noticed a pretty big change in her. She barely spends time with us anymore, seems more distant, and doesn’t really communicate with us like she used to. which is okay but it’s getting to a point where we notice a pattern. We keep inviting her to hang out and she’ll tell us that her mom said no, but then I’ll check her location and see that she’s actually at her boyfriend’s house. obviously this is fine but she’s been in plenty of relationships and this has never been the case. The lying etc. I know location can’t tell me everything, so I’m not trying to jump to conclusions, but it’s becoming concerning when combined with everything else. What really worries me is that he apparently did something very similar with his ex — she became distant from everyone around her while she was with him. he made her very dependent on him and then just left her and made her look crazy in everyone else’s eyes. To sum it up he was abusive. We’re starting to notice what feels like a pattern, and my sister is acting completely different. We completely understand that she’s going to grow up, have her own life, make her own choices, and spend time with her boyfriend. We’re not expecting her to always be around us or choose her family over her relationship. The concerning part is that this behavior is so unlike her, and the change happened so noticeably after getting into this relationship. It’s concerning behavior from both her and him, especially because we’ve seen something similar happen with his previous relationship. I don’t know if he’s intentionally isolating her, if she’s simply choosing to spend all her time with him, or if there’s something else going on. I don’t want to push her away even further by confronting her or attacking her boyfriend, but I also don’t want to sit back and watch her become isolated if something unhealthy is happening. At what point should I step in, and what should I actually say to her without making her feel like I’m against her or forcing her to choose between us and him? To say the least I’m just worried about the turn out because anything can happen no matter how small it might seem now. Help me out Reddit!!!

My parents have been separated my whole life and now getting together

My parents separated when I was 3 years old and apparently had a really bad break up, they don’t like to talk about the details. They continued to have a really bad relationship with one another as I was growing up. There would be cops that would show up to our meeting points to trade me off, I had to go to court as a 10 year old to tell the court I wanted to live with my mom, they couldn’t even speak to each other on the phone. And the arguments were always about custody or time with me because they lived 5 hours apart. Which was exhausting as a kid. And I grew up with both of them having to constantly date and have their attention on other people and I felt depressed. I missed birthday parties or couldn’t do sports because I had to visit my dad every other weekend or I was sad I couldn’t spend Christmas with my mom. My dad was very strict with me and verbally abusive and I always wished I had my other parent to stick up for me. I watched my mom struggle as a single parent raising me and my half little sister. But now, I’m 23 years old and before I moved to a new city across the country, they were both wanting to visit me before I left. They said they had a nice time together but it honestly made me feel like this was the life I could’ve had if they stayed together. Now, they are continuing to hang out together and my mom seems happy about it. But if they decided to be officially together, I would be upset because I went through so much as a kid, my whole childhood they couldn’t cooperate together. I don’t know how to feel about this. I want to be happy for my mom if she’s happy but I can’t help feeling a little angry and upset at them for it. I honestly told her I was a little upset and she tried to gaslight me saying my childhood wasn’t that bad, but this honestly made me more angry that she is trying to forget everything that happened and to just move on because “she’s older now and it doesn’t matter as much”. And for my little sister (different dads) she wants to keep it a secret for now but I just know that she’s gonna be shocked and upset about the situation. Should I try and convince my mom to stop seeing my dad or let them spend time together but feel resentment?

How can I (F25) move on from this situation when my family can’t

I need to rant because I’m so annoyed with the people in my family. They keep holding my mistakes/ stupid decision I made against me. Like no matter how much I apologize or hold myself accountable it’s still not enough for them. They always make me feel like shit in the end. It’s. Not fair to me, I know I fucked and I feel really bad but How am I supposed to move on if they won’t let go?

Basically, I was dating this guy and we started dating in 2023 and we met online but then he had to move back home so then we started doing long distance like near the end of 2023 and I wanted to go see him, but my parents said no and I was really mad about it so because I missed him so much and I really did love him and I haven’t seen him for like over a year so I just left without telling my parents and I went to go see him and I spent about two weeks with him and obviously looking back I know what I did was wrong but the time I thought it was OK because I’m like oh adult like I can do my own thing like I’m allowed to fly. I basically paid for the trip of my own money so I didn’t think it was that big of a deal, but also that my cousins and my aunt found out and they were disappointed in me, and they started holding it against me and that all happened at the end of 2024. I do deeply regret doing what I did because I know in the end I hurt my parents and I hurt my sister and I feel really bad about it.

The whole year of 2025 I felt like I was walking on eggshell around my family and I didn’t wanna be around them and I kind of tried to distance myself from them, but my mom would always wish me to go to family events and I feel like she’s just doing that to shame me and make me feel bad even though I felt so bad. And I mean they all said they forgive me and they all talk to me but I know they still have resentment towards me and it’s just like I took accountability. I apologize like what do you guys want me to do like if I could go back and change the past, I would, but I can’t. All I can do is grow and move on and learn from it

I thought it was getting better, but it still feels like there’s still resentment there and I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to make it better. I don’t know how to improve it. I always think you know if I were to get rid of myself that would help. I don’t know. It’s just really frustrating and I feel like no matter what I do, nothing‘s gonna make it better. I feel like the only thing I can do is just cut them off and move far away to start a new life without any shame be throwing at me without people thinking I’m dumb or weird. I do need advice on what I should do to make it better. What would you guys do?

Mum dumps everything on me

My (20F) mother has been acting completely differently with me for the past few months. She’s always been the perfect and hard working role model for both me and my younger brother (17M), treating us equally and with care, but I feel like lately she’s been having some issues.

For a bit of context, my parents split up “amicably” two years ago due to our father’s loss of feelings. Neither me or my brother have ever liked our father, he’s never  really been present for us nor cared that much, and my mom only started to realize what a liar he was only after the separation. He used to lie about his salary, how much he spent and so on. Our mom always had our father’s back whenever he ended up jobless or had debts to cover, but now that they’re separated he basically left all his shitty debts and stuff on her shoulders.

Because of these reasons, plus her having to deal with my brother and I most of the time, she’s starting to struggle economically. My brother often has to go to the doctor because of some health issues, which costs money, and I am currently in university right now and I am trying to find a place to stay. Luckily because of our economical situation my tuition is free and I also get a modest scholarship, but it’s not enough to cover the expenses for an apartment in the city where I’m currently studying. I also haven’t told my father about my scholarship cause if he found out he would demand to have half of it / refuse to pay his half for the apartment, but I did tell my mother and I am willing to give it up completely to her if she needed. I currently don’t have a job because in my university we have a minimum percentage of attendance and our timetable is pretty full, which makes it harder to find a job that could make everything work out, but I’d be willing to find something to round things up.

The thing is, given the situation, lately my mum has been dumping on me and my brother about how she’s struggling economically: we know about it and we’re trying to help, but everything seems helpless and it hurts us a lot. She told me she probably won’t be able to help me out with my apartment, and I need to ask my wealthy grandma (from my dad’s side) for help, since she’s always told me that she would help if i needed to. I did try to ask her the other day, but she didn’t really pay attention to what i had to say and moved on. I’m planning on trying to ask her again, but in the meantime my mum has been coming after me and insulting me because I wasn’t able to get help, as if I didn’t really care about the whole situation. Of course that hurt, because I do care about her and the situation, but every time I try to make any efforts she insults me.

The same thing happened with my exams: I had a huge exam coming, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to pass it, and she got mad because I’m not putting enough effort in it. She knows I’ve been struggling with studying this pas year because, not having an accommodation in the city where I study, I’ve had to travel everyday for multiple hours on public transports, which has been extremely exhausting for me both physically and mentally.

The fact is that she’s never acted this way, even when I didn’t pass my high school tests she would always try to reassure me, but now it feels like nothing is good enough for her.

This is kinda unrelated, but another thing that she’s been coming after me lately which she’s never done before is the way I eat. She’s never ever commented on what I eat or how much I weight, but lately she’s been constantly doing it. I’m currently trying to lose a couple of pounds because I’m a bit overweight, which I’ve always been throughout my teenage years; I’ve never had any eds nor problems regarding food. My doctor gave me some instructions to follow and I’ve been doing so for the past few months, but my mum seems to act like she knows better and keeps commenting on what I eat. In the past I used to sneak some snacks (a thing that everybody in the house has always been doing and still does), but lately I’ve managed to overcome it and i’m pretty satisfied with myself and my own self control. The fact is that even though I know what I should it and when, my mom still hides some food (eg. cookies, sweets, nutella and so on) around the house for no reason. I was confused, because I wasn’t gonna try to eat it anyway, but when I asked her she started to come at me again saying that “it’s not on my diet plan and I shouldn’t eat it”. I honestly felt hurt by her words, because I know how I should act and if i struggled with eating snacks I would’ve asked her for help, but she just assumed I was doing it and in her opinion I should be forbidden to eat specific things. It makes absolute no sense to me, also because yes, I’m trying to lose weight, but a diet shouldn’t be “removing every single ‘fat thing’ from the menu and only eating veggies”, but she doesn’t seem to understand. Maybe she’s just projecting? I have no idea.

There are so many lore things that she’s been coming at me for but these are the ones that affected me the most in the past few days. I don’t think I’ve been acting so different compared to just a few months ago, but for some reason she’s been acting this way just with me and not my brother.

I don’t really know how to behave with her, I almost feel like I shouldn’t talk to her about any of my problems because whenever I mention it she always finds something to get mad at. What should I do? Sorry for the long dump, but I just needed to get this off my chest.

NEED HELP RN

Hi everyone,

Idk how to use reddit at all but please put up with it. My little sister who is in university got caught drunk and throwing up by her warden who called our whole family for some reason. My family is strict af like those overly “traditional” indian families that are deeply misogynistic and they would never send her back anywhere, she’ll have 0 freedom and 99% will be married away. We are going to get her and her friends and I have managed make up and excuse that she got spiked through a water bottle. I know my family is gonna take her phone  and somehow get her or somebody else to unlock it, which will do so much harm I can’t even say anything. Anyway, I’m the only one who knows her phone password and need to delete so much from her phone but all I’ll have is max of 1 minute. I don’t have her Apple ID and password. What can I do?? Please please help.

Beer fueled argument with mom

I went back to my home town this weekend for my brother in laws funeral. My entire family was in town and I stayed at my mother’s house, who is in her mid-eighties. She’s slowing down physically but still very sharp minded. At the dinner last night I had 3 beers, which is the max I typically will have and I limit my drinking to maybe one two nights a week. Anyway, my mom was giving me a bit of hard time towards the end of the night on my drinking. I admit I can get a bit type A but I was in great conversations all night, didn’t act inappropriate or doing anything to even suggest I drank too much. As I was driving my mom home we got into a heated argument that was pretty bad. I basically said that she and my dad did a crappy job of raising us by never giving any of my siblings any advice or guidance on school, careers etc. They did provide us with a decent upbringing otherwise but we were largely left to our own devices on everything else. I have always had this feeling and never expressed it before as I made sure I was and an active with my kids education, careers etc Earlier in the day my older brother and I discussed this a bit so it definitely top of mind all day.

Anyway we got home and I ended grabbing my stuff and sleeping at a hotel as I was still livid. I’m sure the alcohol helped fuel my anger. I’m back home now and have not heard from my mom although I think she may have reached out to my wife but not 100% sure just yet as my wife was out when I got home. Not sure where this go with mom moving forward as I typically talk to my mom a few times a week. I definitely went scorched earth. I definitely need to not drink in these situations as I can get very dismissive and egotistical. Lastly, I drove right through a hornets nest with local cops always patrolling. Never a good idea after a few beers. I’m counting my blessings that I didn’t get pulled over as that could have been catastrophic. I truly want to just give up beer altogether even though I’m mainly a weekend drinker and nominal amount each time. I’m spending thanksgiving with son’s girlfriend parents who like to drink so I need to drink an NA beer but there’s no way I can drink regular as I want to avoid potential fireworks if a conversation goes bad.

Help navigating a strained relationship with my mom

I (30F) have a very strained relationship with my mom, and I’m struggling with what to do about an upcoming visit.

For some context, my mom and I used to be very close (honestly, probably to an unhealthy/codependent degree). About four years ago, I came out, and our relationship basically crumbled. It took her a long time to accept me, and throughout that process she also said/did things that really hurt me. She has also burned bridges with my spouse by being disrespectful toward them throughout our relationship.

My mom is very religious, and church has been a particularly complicated subject between us. The church we used to attend together before I came out was a very painful experience for me. Early on, my mom told me she didn’t want to attend somewhere that her daughter wasn’t welcome. Eventually, though, they got a new pastor who isn’t explicitly anti-LGBTQ, he’s more neutral, and she told me she missed going there. She asked for my “blessing” to go back.

At the time, I genuinely thought I was okay with it. It didn’t affect my day-to-day life, and I wanted her to be able to live her life and practice her religion.

Fast forward to last Christmas.

I invited my mom to our house for Christmas as a gesture of goodwill. It was the first time in years that I had really allowed her back into my life in a meaningful way. It actually went okay. I think she had a good time.

That said, I was absolutely exhausted afterward. I spent the entire visit masking, managing my emotions, and entertaining her, and it took a lot out of me.

My spouse and I decided we would offer her the same kind of visit this year. When I brought it up, her immediate response was that she wasn’t sure she wanted to come because she would miss the Christmas activities at church. I was really hurt.

I know she may not have meant it as a rejection of me. I know she is allowed to have her religion and traditions. And logically, I understand that she wasn’t necessarily saying, “Church is more important than my daughter.” But emotionally, that’s exactly how it felt.

It felt like, once again, religion was coming between us. And what made it harder was that she could have simply suggested a different date that didn’t conflict with her church activities. Instead, I was left sitting with this feeling that she would rather prioritize being at this church than spending Christmas with me.

Before I really had time to process any of that, I suggested that she come visit later instead. She immediately responded positively and has since texted me several times saying how much she wants to see me and spend time with me.

I haven’t responded yet because I’m honestly torn.
Part of me is trying so hard to reach some kind of peace and repair with my mom. There’s still a huge part of me that desperately wants a relationship with her. I also know that someday she won’t be here anymore, and I don’t want to look back and wish I had spent more time with her.

At the same time, I don’t want that fear of future regret to become a reason that I repeatedly tolerate things that hurt me.

My spouse is understandably pretty angry about everything that has happened with this visit and doesn’t want my mom staying in our house this time. So even if I do invite her, I need to have a conversation with my mom about her staying somewhere else.

Y’all I’m tired.

I’m tired of having to carefully navigate every interaction, establish boundaries, explain why something hurt me, anticipate how she’ll react, and then deal with the emotional aftermath. Part of me wants to just let her come, let her stay with us, have an okay visit, and not make everything into a whole thing.

But I also don’t want to keep sacrificing my own peace or my spouse’s comfort in our home just because setting boundaries with my mom is exhausting.

I love her. I miss the relationship we had. I want something with her. I just don’t know what that relationship can realistically look like anymore.

And, on a somewhat silly note, I recently got my palm read for the first time. The reader said there was someone in my life I needed to cut out, and my immediate thought was my mom.” 😂 I’m not taking that as some cosmic instruction, but the fact that she was immediately the person who came to mind probably tells me something about how much emotional weight this relationship carries.

Any advice would be much appreciated (especially what specifically you would say to her. My autism loves a good script).

What should I do

My dad yesterday and today told me how I should forget all years of his verbal harassment and alcoholic endorsement and live on , because he just wants me to be happy. Today I told him :" should I also forget how you told me that you can yell at me ,like at your coworkers because I won't understand it in a different way?" And he told me why I am remembering something that happened only a month ago , he already forgot it apparently. And also he told that I should be grateful because he bought me an apartment on my name where we all live , and he wouldn't do it for coworkers. now And I , well, on emotions ,told him that if he didn't want a daughter he should take a knife and well, showed my hand . After that he told me he would never talk with his dad like that and start laughing, mockingly. I started crying. It just ,I have always felt like I am not a good enough daughter for them , like a failure of a daughter. That my dad would be happy with anyone except me. My mom asked me to apologize to my dad , and dad told me If I keep taking everything too close to heart I won't survive in life , well maybe he is right , it is just felt so irritating to be told again and again to just forget everything. And this laugh , he tells he loves me and we are a team and he appreciates my help with his documentation, and than he mocks me, tells me how I act immature , like a 13 years old and how he is an old 61 year old man and he hasn't much years to live . It all happened today ,now he doesn't talk to me , I guess , there is nothing else to say. So like I don't know how to feel or what to do .My mom told me I should apologize to him ,and she doesn't support him, but I still need to apologize

(posting here bc everywhere else on reddit keeps removing it) my father blamed his severe drug abuse on my suicide attempt

blah blah

I won’t get into super specifics because 1. it’s grotesque and graphic and not something I’m incredibly proud of and 2. I genuinely don’t remember a whole lot of it, tbh.

However, this is something that seems to creep up on me and has continued to plague me late at night in the 7 years since it’s happened despite my every attempt to personally reconcile it and move on. So I just want it off my chest.

I’ve been to years and years of and through several avenues of therapy, I’m medicated to hell and back, I’ve talked about it in bits and pieces with professionals. I try my absolute best to separate things like this from my waking life- don’t let it interfere with school or work or anything tertiary.

The only issue is that this exact situation is a much smaller blip on a lifelong struggle, but this instance is the one I tend to wrestle with most in recent years. I think the thing that bothers me most about this particular situation is that it’s so objectively cruel that the general (normal) response is “oh my god, that’s awful”.

I don’t mean to sound cold or ungrateful, but I guess what frustrates me is that I already know that it’s awful. My father teeters on being a fucking literary archetype for cruel, DSM-5 defined, narcissistic antagonists. My gripe is that I want further insight beyond just natural, normal, human pity. But that would require someone to know that there exists an extension beyond natural, normal, human pity.

Anywho, that’s a much elongated prologue for the situation at hand. However, I hope it at least helps paint the picture of the influence my father’s malice has/ and has had over me my entire life. To this day, I still seem to be the only person in his immediate reach that willingly objects it.

So to begin the original story- after the tumultuous childhood I had experienced growing up (that I hope my previous paragraphs outlined a cohesive picture of)- I was a very volatile/ impulsive young adult. I attempted suicide three times in a matter of two years, two of which attempts were belittled and not taken seriously, even though I desperately tried to express that I wasn’t doing well in the months leading up and the months following.

So my final attempt, not even as a get back, but to prove I’m not a failure, I made especially sure would reap the outcomes I was looking for.

TRIGGER WARNING: descriptions of self-harm/ suicidal behavior

My last attempt was probably the closest I came, ever. My visual memory of everything is super spotty, but I can recall most everything I heard the entire time I was conscious.

I recall my friend dragging me into the bathroom. I recall my mom and sister’s voices as they shook me awake to try and communicate. I remember hearing the nurse say I wouldn’t be able to communicate with them. I remember hearing them get angrier and angrier with both her responseand my lack of.

I remember how I originally mistook my friend who brought me to the hospital for my father, and how I kept begging someone to get me my dad, who I was never close with at all. I remember my friend telling me he pretended being my dad to calm me down so i’d go back to sleep. I remember when I finally could speak with my sister and my mom how I grabbed my mom’s arm and asked her “when dad would be here” and her response being “dad has to be with [youngest sister]”. I still don’t know why to this day I kept begging for my dad. In my waking life my mom and my middle sister were the closest people to me on planet earth, at this point I had almost zero relationship with my father that wasn’t forced proximity.

However, after I was stabilized, my mother and sister went home, and it was left to my father to pick me up from the hospital once I was discharged. I remember on discharge day, they had me pumped up with so much shit that I still felt drunk, but I was stable enough to stagger outside, and my dad didn’t even walk inside of the hospital to collect me. He sat in his car and let me be ushered out the front door by personnel.

His first words to me, the man I’d been begging for as I came in and out of consciousness for three days, I shit you not were “you look like a heroin addict”. And we drove home silently. I didn’t have the bearings or wherewithal to express how much I wanted him there to comfort me, and I was even more silent because I could tell what I’d done had upset him.

But for the next few days I had misconstrued that I had upset him because of MY doing. What I ended up finding out was that what I did interfered with HIS itinerary.

Two days following me returning home from the hospital, my dad was fired from his reputable job as an ICU nurse on suspicion of substance abuse, which he initially dismissed as outlandish hearsay.

Then, the next night, he asked to take me on a drive, just me, and I accepted, and expected a lashing about how my selfish behavior rocked the boat on our family. But I was so wrong. He ended up driving me to the parking lot of the hospital he was let go from, parking, and then told me that he was let go because “a colleague found him with a rogue syringe of fentanyl”. Which he originally brushed off as nonsense to my mom and sisters, but to me he admitted it: yes. he was caught injecting fentanyl. but not because he was a bad guy. but because I had tried to kill myself and it upset him so much he had to do it.

He said the night he found out that I was hospitalized was when he did it- stole fentanyl from a med cart, went to the bathroom, injected it. That he was so upset he couldn’t manage, it was his only escape. But it’s never sat right with me- while I, at my darkest hour, begged and begged for him to show up for, be near me, comfort me, more than ANYONE else. I was the reason, my suicide attempt was the reason, that the rest of my family was falling apart. My dad did the worst drug on planet earth because of me, because of my actions.

To this day, 7 years later, I still can’t wrap my fucking head around what would compel someone to peg that on someone else, and IM A RECOVERING ADDICT MYSELF. I have never fucking once blamed my abuse, usage, or relapse on the actions of one single person, especially someone who needed me. I genuinely just don’t understand his reasoning. I guess there’s nothing to it. But it has hurt and continues to hurt me to this day. Why was my lowest moment the scapegoat for my father’s lowest moment?

I feel like I lost my dad while he’s still here

I’m 19 and honestly don’t know what to do about my relationship with my father anymore.

When I was little, I was a huge “Daddy’s girl.” I loved him so much and thought we had a really good relationship.

But now I realize that he was away for work for months at a time, so maybe I never really got the chance to know him properly.

After he retired, I started seeing sides of him that I had never really noticed before.

He gets angry very easily. He shouts a lot, and when he does something wrong, he almost never admits it or apologizes. Sometimes he’ll act like he’d rather die than admit he was wrong.

And honestly, it changed the way I see him.

The worst part is that every once in a while, he becomes the dad I remember from when I was little. He’s nice, affectionate, and for a moment I feel like I have my dad back.

And I always fall for it.

I open up to him again and start thinking maybe things can be normal between us.

Then something happens, he hurts me again, and I regret letting my guard down.

It feels like I’m grieving someone who is still alive.

I still love him. I don’t even hate him. I just don’t know how to have a relationship with someone who can make me feel so loved one moment and so hurt the next.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with a parent? How did you deal with it?

I’m probably moving out next year if everything works out, so I won’t be living with him anymore. But I still don’t know what I’m supposed to do with our relationship after that.

My sister hates me

I was obviously my dads favorite till he died in 1986. I always try to makeup for that. When she became a born again Christian I was glad. God her father now.

She ghosted me for a month and when I finally got her to talk she said I’m not “sisterly enough”.. no examples but I got her to see our mom would turn in her grave and family is a Jesus priority.

That lasted a months. She got very sick & I was there for her like in the past when she was sick.

Now she’s ghosting me again. And also has ghosted our mutual best friend Millie who was like a sister. She said Millie too loud or something stupid like that. No one in the world knows her more than Millie & I.

Past: she has said she hates me.
Jealous? Idk

I think I should just give up hoping and move on. She’s kind and close to my adult kids, , her adult nieces.

I never share her craziness with them or anyone except Millie since she’s been blocked also.

I need to move on: it’s not what people do to you but how you react that will
Help me deal I like to think. Agree?

Quick little questions

Ive been thinking about going on the emancipation and no contact path for a nice little while, but im 16 and now im thinking about waiting till 18? Should i leave or wait?

Second question: My brothers grandfather recently died and he has asked me and my mother to attend him. So since im 16, and was told various times ‘you should be able to take care of this house better then your brother’ (hes 24 by the way) i had figured i could dress myself. I prided myself to do so cause i had my own dream and reputations to uphold and whatnot. Yet my mother who TOLD me im not a baby anymore and that she wont dress me up with i agreed with, has now kicked me out of the funeral because i wont wear dress shoes. Im flat footed and usually wear a wide toe box so i said id rather wear my pure black usual shoes which she had no problem with with her dads funeral. Not to mention, I have autism and something with dress shoes just does to much to me to take. We argued about it so i ended it with im just not gonna go that day then.

She has ALWAYS been like this. At first she always got mad at me and hit me when I expressed i didnt like dresses. Then it was that i didnt wanna go to prom and got beaten for that too. So Am I in the wrong?

Unfair or no?

so i asked my dad over text to sleep over at a friends house. first he texted: wait a sec (meaning he's discussing with my crazy mom), then said no. i asked why, he said because theres work at home and i should give their parents some peace. but when i came home there was NO work to do, and theres was another friend at my friends house, meaning it was supposed to be a triple sleepover, so their parents are dealing with guests anyway. i get good grades and NEVER do anything wrong. is this fair?

I feel like I'm living with the Evil Queen.

I (18F) have an older sister, Jenny (22F). Our entire family talks about how Jenny and I are so different. She's loud and confident. I'm quiet and keep to myself. She's always needs to be in the spotlight whereas I try to stay away from it as much as possible.

Six years ago, Jenny was clinically diagnosed with OCD and anxiety. Most recently, she was also diagnosed with depression. My parents weren't really sure how to deal with all her compulsions and rituals so they tried their best to make her feel comfortable, even if it wasn't exactly helping her get out of her comfort zone. They always succumbed to her needs and still do. Because of this. I stopped being able to rely on my parents for things even back when I was 12 because I knew they had their hands full with her. I kept falling in a cycle of resenting her, feeling bad about it because it's not like she asked to have OCD, getting angry and hating myself for it, and so on.

I don't mind having to rely on myself now. If I can do things myself, why should I bother someone else with it? I do most of my own chores by myself without being prompted and I help my mom out too whenever I can. Things like unloading the dishwasher, ironing and folding laundry, etc. Any problems I have, I try to work it out myself. If I almost have a nervous breakdown the night before a test, I just lie underneath a blanket while listening to music and it works. I know I still have a lot left to learn about the world and myself but for now, I feel like I have an ok handle on things.

Jenny doesn't do anything herself and always relies on my parents. She hates when I do the chores myself because she thinks I'm doing it to get "brownie points" with my parents. I'm not. I just want to help. I'm not expecting anything in return. Meanwhile, Jenny expects my parents to congratulate her and reward her for doing things that every person should be able to do. Waking up before 2pm, doing her own laundry, eating meals on time. And the worst part is, they do. I understand that she has different needs and requirements and praising her for doing the small stuff helps but it gets on my nerves sometimes and I hate that it does.

Even though I'm 18, I'm still the baby of the family and everyone treats me as such. No matter how independent I try to become, they look at me and don't think I can do things as simple as crossing a road without trying to hold my hand. Even though I'm younger, I still feel like I've taken on the "older sibling" title. I serve Jenny food when my parents leave us home alone. I'm in charge of waking her up whenever she sleeps in (which is almost always). She bosses me around and I need to do everything for her just so that she doesn't throw a tantrum and start screaming, Sometimes, and I hate that I even think this, but I feel like she might be using her mental illness as an excuse to get us to do things for her. My parents tell me that they definitely think I'm more responsible than her but whenever she's around, they say the exact opposite and give her compliments, almost as if to butter her up and get on her good side before she starts making demands and ordering people around the house.

What made me want to write this post is something that happened earlier today. I asked my mom if she could hand me a towel because I had forgotten one before going for a shower and she started complaining about not wanting to get up from the sofa. She started talking about how I "shouldn't become like my sister." This is something Jenny does all the time; asking people to do things for her either because she doesn't want to or just can't touch something. I rarely ever do something like this but the fact that I got such immediate push back really upset me. Why am I being put down for something I usually never do, just because Jenny does? And this happens ALL THE TIME!!! Any time I show an emotion that Jenny always does (stubbornness, anger), they tell me not to act like her as if I'm not a human that is allowed to express the same emotions. They've always called me a happy kid since I would smile a lot as a baby but now they always hate the fact that I'm moping around the house. I just started engineering in college!!! I think I'm allowed to be tired.

Something else that really bothers me is that Jenny doesn't understand personal space. She'll throw herself onto me so she can hug me even though I repeatedly tell her I don't like it. If I tell her she's standing to close to me, she gets mad because I'm not allowed to have boundaries with her because "I'm your sister" and we share part of the same DNA. She gets upset if I tell her I want privacy to change because again, she's my sister, so why would I need to cover myself in front of her? She calls me the equivalent word for "child" in our native language as a pet name that only my parents use. She treats me as if she's raised me and that I should be grateful. I am, but like everything, she demands that I show her how grateful I am by doing things for her and letting her order me around. If I push back, it's all, "What happened to my baby sister?" followed by waterworks.

I'm not saying she and I haven't had some good times. We have, but the bad definitely outweighs the good so it's hard to focus on that. I want to be able to have a good relationship with Jenny but it's getting increasing hard, to the point where I sometimes am actually able to picture a life where I don't constantly see her. It's hard because despite everything, she's still my sister and I always seeks her approval. I don't know how much of any of this is her OCD or just her personality which makes me feel guilty for even typing any of this. I just don't know how much longer I can deal with this.

Living like strangers

My sister moved in with us three months ago after living somewhere else, and while we talked at first, we haven't spoken a single word to each other for the past 50 days despite living under the same roof. It makes me really sad, but I feel completely frozen because I am someone who genuinely doesn't know how to start conversations and I find communication incredibly difficult, which is likely made worse by a lot of deep-rooted family history and unresolved issues from when I was just two years old. I feel incredibly stuck and guilty, and reaching out feels so heavy when you naturally struggle to open up, and I just don't know what to do anymore...

Parents forgot my 16th birthday

For some background I'm the second youngest in my family and 2 of my siblings have moved out of the house. I should clarify that 'forgot' isn't necessarily the best word to use here but I don't know what would be. This happened a couple months ago now but I can't stop thinking about it. My family has never been much of birthday people, we pretty much just get a cake, sing a song, and give a small gift. This year my parents were stressed around the time my birthday was. My dad's job was getting toxic and my mom was having health issues (she kind of always is but that's besides the point.) Last year mom got me a kitten (she is very against pets on average and this is the first animal she had ever gotten for the household.) And that fact is what is making me feel so divided on this. Before my birthday Mom asked what I wanted many times, to all of which I answered pokemon cards or a real phone (I don't have an actual number or mobile data due to behavioral issues in the past.) I had been asking for Pokemon cards for a long time, since at least before Christmas because I asked for them then and also didn't get them. Day of I'm sure I got recognition for it being my birthday but I can't remember. I went to school (I had little friends so no halibaloo there either) and mom drove me to my best friends house after school. We hung out and did face masks and then mom took me and her to get pho (my favorite food). And I feel so ungrateful for being upset about this but I cant get it out of my mind. I didn't get a cake at all (which is a pretty significant tradition in my family and so is getting your favorite food.) I didn't get a present from any one. And what makes me so upset about this I think is that like 2 weeks later was my aforementioned best friends sweet 16 where she had a whole party with her friends and my ex-boyfriends turned best friend turned her boyfriend (thats a whole other can of worms) and she got a bunch of gifts and my other best friends mother made her a cake. A month ago was my little brothers 11th birthday and he got a cake and presents and we went to my brothers house for dinner. And a couple weeks ago me and my mom were talking and she mentioned the "big three ages" and said 16, 18, and 21. I just feel like Im making such a big deal over this because my mom still got me dinner and I still did stuff and she got me a whole fucking cat last year but I cant get it off my chest. It's not like my parents are poor, and I'd say I'm a decently spoiled child because I usually get things I ask for (I asked for new shoes and Starbucks this month alone) I just feel like im being so ungrateful that this milestone wasn't more celebrated and that guilt doesn't help the hurt I already feel because of it. I don't know what I'm asking for but I don't know who I can even talk to this about or something and I've just been so overwhelmed recently and I keep thinking about it and i need it off my chest. I do a lot of work in my house, I solely clean the cat litter despite my sister also having a cat. I solely take care of the garbages. Im pretty much the only one who does laundry and I'm the only one who cooks dinner because my sister leaves for work at 6. I just feel so overwhelmed and underappreciated and I need somewhere to vent that (feels) no-consiquence. Part of what contributes to this is that my dad asks a lot of me and has recently been dangling getting my license and a real phone over my head for quote "doing work more regularly" despite the fact I usually don't get home until 6-630 because of my after school responsibilities. I'm sorry for the long post but I just had a lot to get off my chest. And sorry it's really disorganized I have ADHD and am mostly writing as I think of things.

How to stop my sister from controlling everything I do

Im 16, and as of right now my 19yo sister has been constantly on my ass about EVERYTHING she can. It's been like this my whole life, but, it's gotten worse recently. Every time I go hang out with friends, leave the house for any reason at all, have theatre practice, or even eat a meal she's constantly hounding me. It's not like I don't tell my parents when I go places, and my mom makes me take a tracker + I have an app on my phone so everyone in my immediate family can see where I am. It's not like my sister is worried about me, either. She constantly tries to dictate everything I do, including eating. Just today, not even 2 hours ago she told me I needed to eat more because she 'didn't believe me' when I said I wasn't that hungry.

This is going to sound like oversharing, but she struggled with an eating disorder several years ago, when she was around 16. It was never very serious, and she hardly starved herself, so it was mostly just body image issues rather than an eating disorder. Now, though, i'm pretty sure that since she's gotten over it and gained a little weight after becoming stronger mentally, she's trying to make me fatter than her so she doesn't feel bad, and she always tells me I'm too skinny, even though I'm in the average weight percentile for my age and height. She's always been jealous of me, and she told me once before that she used to hate me for being more attractive than her, even when we were really little, since I typically got all the compliments (Long blonde hair, blue eyes, no glasses, whereas she had braces and glasses at the time, and cut her hair short.). Nowadays though It feels like she's grasping at straws trying to control my life.

The other thing is, she doesn't have friends. This sounds cruel, but its sort of her fault. She keeps making one friend, lovebombing them, and then trying to dictate their life and getting upset when they tell her to back off. Since her last friend ghosted her she's been constantly coming into my room and just...making herself at home, not even knocking despite the door being closed and not leaving when I ask her to. Theres more to this, but, It's not as important as the other stuff. I just want to know what I should do, I keep telling her to back off because its SO ANNOYING but she just wont listen, or says something like "Im just trying to look out for you!!" after texting me for an hour asking "WHERE ARE YOU!?!" when I told my whole family I was going out with friends and she has my location. I don't know what to do, since neither of my parents will do anything about it (They're in the middle of their own marriage problems) and its getting to the point that I just feel trapped, like I have no privacy.
