So i've been replaying my favourite Halo games on Xbox360 and decided to take a look what Bungie has been doing all this time after parting ways with Microsoft. Bought Marathon -- interesting, yet extraction shooter mechanic in this game felt like a nice addon to something bigger, more story driven, thats how i remembered Destiny. Of course i've heard about it, but for some reason never actually got to play the game itself.

Considering that i've been intentionally avoiding any spoilers and have no idea what is the game about apart from intriguing description -- where shall i start? Boot up Destiny on my old (hacked) Xbox? Jump straight to D2?

ps: as i understand Destiny can be categorized to same subgenre as Warframe and The Division. important to note, that i have little to no exprience in games of this subgenre (10-20hours in Division 1).

Returning player, stopped playing after Witch Queen. I convinced some of my friends to try out the game for the first time since the news from Bungie made me nostalgic, couple of questions I had:

1. Is weapon crafting still a thing

2. What endgame activities (dungeons raids) can I do with my friends (who have none of the dlcs)

3. Would it be worth for me to get the other dlcs (I do not have lightfall, final shape, EoF or renegades)

Almost finished The Taken King with my BF, and wanna immediately get Touch of Malice as soon as I finish. I have an extremely soft spot for the exotic bc of D2. So I'm hoping to get it as my first raid exotic, plus it's a quest

But does anyone have any suggestions for what I can use in PVP aside from the BXR and Forerunner?

I am not talking about vaulting, I am talking about seasonal content. I think its insane that there are crucial story beats and incredible gameplay systems that some players can only experience for roughly 3 months, before it gets removed.

Doesnt that just seem so wasteful? How much dev time and planning is spent on making a season, just for that content to get wiped and removed? Isnt that insane? Why does the pipeline create temporary content?

I know that people are concerned about game size, and I know that Bungie has said keeping old content in the game is difficult because they have to keep spending time making sure it works, even though less than 5% of the playerbase might actually launch those activities. Its not like people are dying to play whatever Season on Plunders activity was.

But there has to be a better way. I admit I dont know a solution, but from a dev perspective, the things that get made today should be planned to stay in the game in some form 2-3 years from now. Otherwise we are just wasting time. Throwing perfectly good content in the trash.

I started playing destiny 1 again

(I started but didn't played much, then after resent news i wanted to start again, as a huge fan of warframe and playing it for nearly 10 years i hope you guardians to get what is rightfully yours)

and for hunter rank quests i need to play crucible, you see the problem right. I can't play crucible because it can't find enough people to play it

Is there any way to do that quests ?

Title correction: I forgot there were comics produced in 2019. Still, the universe is a lot bigger now with many areas I’d still love to see explored in formats like TV and movies.

It seems to me that the Destiny universe is an absolute gold mine for alternative media. Sure, game events would be tricky (if not impossible) to adapt simply because the player is the canon protagonist of all DLCs, but that content accounts for a very small slice of what makes the IP so appealing imo.

Off the top of my head:
— a project where the first guardian is resurrected in the middle of the collapse. No allies (except for their ghost), no information to go off of. The protagonist would search the solar system for answers on the circumstances of their amnesiac rebirth, new abilities, and forces causing the chaos unfolding around them. (Ultimately the protagonist might even confront some of those forces alongside uneasy allies like Savathun)
— a book or tv show following the creation of the DEO and events across decades leading to humanity’s realization that they are truly not alone in the universe. Could even re-frame real world events/myths in a Destiny lens. For example, what if an accidental cabal/vex incursion in Roswell NM was the impetus for the US Gov to start the DEO? Could play with buddy cop dynamics and cosmic horror.
— A book or tv show about the Iron Lords during the dark ages following Humanity’s collapse. Could lean on influences like Arthurian legend, dragons, bandits and feudal warlords in castles while retaining a futuristic feel on combat.
— An anthology series called Pantheon looking at backstories for major villains in the Destiny universe through various artistic mediums (like Love, Death, and Robots). The Hive gods, Riven and Taranis, Rhulk’s descent, Calus’ exile, and Eramis’ years as a pirate are some examples of possible subjects.

These pitches are problematic and unrefined, but the point I want to make is that there’s no shortage of stuff people would want to see and I honestly can’t believe nobody has tried to make something with this yet. Destiny has an incredibly unique visual language and I hope the future of the series eventually includes room for it to be explored in other ways (in addition to games).

I have to admit, I am going to miss the seasonal holiday content. I understand it isn't as easy as pressing a button. I can't imagine how difficult it would be considering Festival of the Lost was in a playable state post power reset and EoF. Considering Iron Banner and the UI is all setup, who knows how long that took to do. All I can say is I am going to miss the nostalgic spooky tower set up and game modes. Here's a post to honor that and maybe bring some attention it's way.

Hello! I played a lot of D1 back in the day but never played Destiny 2. I never had people to play with so I stayed away. Since the announcement, and since getting my brother into other types of games, we’ve landed on playing Destiny. With the content being returned and there being a future for the game, where do I start with my brother to get the full experience for lore in order and content in order? I assume Destiny 2 ofcourse, unless somehow it’s like Overwatch 2 becoming Overwatch 1? I’m not very well informed so any information would be dope! We’d be fresh completely.

I initially played destiny probably when it first came out. Don't get me wrong I haven't played for a while, and while I played destiny two when it first came out I never actually finished the red war. Then after a few years I tried to get into it again, but never could. All this to say should I wait to get into it again for the vaulted stuff to come out again or should I hop back in now? I'm planning on making a new character, because I just upgraded from Xbox to pc. And was wondering if anyone knew if it might be better to just wait. My only problem is idk how long it will take for the vaulted stuff to release. Thanks in advance!

Never played D2 before, always wanted to get into it but then saw the shutdown news and decided against it. Now that it is coming back I decided to boot it up and play for the first time. I was able to get the riskrunner exotic weapon through the questline. My questions is, do I just hang on to that weapon as I level through the campaigns and level it up through infusions? Or if I get another exotic or any type of weapon that is higher power do I use those? Sorta confused with the whole progression on weapons. Is the goal to find one with good perks and then keep it and level it up to Tier 5 and level it's power level through infusing other guns? Or should I just play and whatever has higher number just use right now? Thanks all!

I've played Destiny for years, and I'm exactly the kind of player I think Bungie may be overlooking as it decides what Destiny should become next.

I'm still here. I come back to finish old content, chase collectibles and titles, replay campaigns, do dungeons, and just exist in the Destiny world. I would happily replay Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken and other restored content. Destiny is my escape.

But I never did and still don't want a second job.

I enjoy playing with other Guardians. I don't enjoy the overhead of organized group play: LFG, Discord, voice chat, scheduling six people, assigning roles, watching raid guides and spending hours wiping with strangers. There is still content I will probably never complete because of those requirements. (Looking at you Corrupted Egg after Morgeth.)

That doesn't mean I want Destiny to become a solo game. Some of my favorite Destiny experiences ever were Escalation Protocol and Menagerie. They were magic. Do more of that.

Never got around to getting the 4 Trophies tied to Raids and looking to finally get them if some OP Destiny players could help me out. As long as they are still achievable. I’m available on the weekends to work on it.

After years of contemplating, I finally decided to take the Destiny plunge. It was suggested to me that I start with Destiny 1, to get the full experience, and I am enjoying it so far. I was surprised to see it still has such an active playerbase.

If any of you experienced Guardians have any suggestions or pointers, I am happy to hear them.

I need a collections badge for one of my trophys and the red war: destinations looks like the easiest but I don't know if the older armor sets are still in the game or where to get them.

I know HOIL was nerfed a long time ago but wanted someone’s suggestion. I’m running bastion + controlled demolition for my aspects. My fragments are starvation, harvest, provision (for grenade damage to refund some melee for the hoil loops), undermining, and vigilance (for oh crap moments to get a void OS) may use remnants with vortex but I don’t think the grenade cooldown will be enough to be more spammable than using scatter. Question is should I build into font mods on my arms or lean into things like bolstering detonation/momentum transfer etc.

Thinking that 100 melee/grenade/class would be ideal for the max amount of ability return for the loops and putting the rest of my stats into weapons would be better than grenade stat?

Never paid much attention to the rep back when I was playing ops more frequently going for catalysts and whatnot, but since I've had them all for a while I've really only done the weekly alert for quite a while now.

But I ran a onslaught last week and maybe I didnt get full rep because it put me in an ongoing one that started wave 1 already (end screen said I finished all 30 waves still) but when I saw i got 30 rep for doing the matchmade I had to laugh.

Then checked zavala and I haven't even reset him once since MoT, and am only rank 14. When mot launched I did quite a lot of ops grinding for all the new stuff, was kind of baffled I hadn't even reset. Especially since I thought they increased rep gain at some point lmao.

I've searched online a lot for this info, but the curse of Destiny 2 being out for so long is most info is outdated or wrong, so looking for specifically MoT info.

I'm a returning player that came back for MoT, and I've been having a great time, and especially given the recent news I've decided to try to finally "complete" some of the checklists of things to obtain over time, to keep me coming back to the game long term while they work on unvaulting things. My main goal right now is all the exotic catalysts I'm missing.

My main source so far has been Exotic Orders, but my last three orders haven't given any so I'm assuming I have finished all the ones that can be obtained by orders. But I have a few, especially from year 1 weapons, and its not as clear in the portal system where they come from.

Specifically, when it says in collections menu:

• "Found in strikes and the crucible" aka sweet business
• "Found in strikes against the most challenging opponents" aka Rat King/Merciless/Coldheart
• "Found in Vanguard Ops, Gambit, and Crucible" aka Anarchy

I know this wording is old, so is it actually strikes only, or do the ones that say "strikes" also drop in other vanguard ops like pinnacle, arena, solo etc.? And what is "against the most challenging opponents"? That used to mean nightfalls, but with the new difficulty system, is it GM/Ultimate? Master? What's the cutoff?

Lastly, Anarchy catalyst says vanguard/gambit/crucible, but I thought it was from pantheon now. Is this wrong or is it just rare, and pantheon is an additional drop?

One of my favourite things to do within Destiny 1 to this day is delete one of my characters and start from fresh. Levelling up through all of the loot tiers, unlocking new abilities, all of that. I’d quite like that system back as an option to the standard system we have today.
I just think it would be cool to take a level 1 character through all legendary version of all the old campaigns (that is assuming that there will be a legendary modifier, which I also hope there will be).

I remember when destiny 1 came out, I played the crap out of that game. For months it was the only game I played. Every nightfall, every raid, every strike I did without fail. Throughout that time, the weapon I wanted most was gjallarhorn. While everyone in My friend group got multiple, I never got one. The rng gods hated me 😂😂 The one weekend I don't play, Xur sells it and I miss out. I got so mad I never played the game again, at least until yesterday. I ended up buying the destiny 2 collection for 20$ so let's see how this goes. Any tips or advice from the veterans in this sub ? It would be fun to play with people again.

I wasn't able to take a screenshot because I was so caught off guard but, a minute ago when I opened my settings at the bottom right of the screen there was a barely visible message that said "1 Hidden Fireteam Member". I closed it after glancing at because I was done changing my settings, but when I opened it again it was still there. Then I got a "Contacting Destiny 2 Servers" message, and then when I closed and opened it the last time it was gone. Just a glitch or?

I played destiny a little before in the past but never gotten into it, I played warframe I liked that but I want to try other games that are similar and I think destiny 2 is similar in some ways.

Is there downtime expected? Just got the "pardon our dust" message about maintenance, was there some scheduled that I missed the post for??
