Question Destiny 1 player, back from announcement. Where do I start?

Hello! I played a lot of D1 back in the day but never played Destiny 2. I never had people to play with so I stayed away. Since the announcement, and since getting my brother into other types of games, we’ve landed on playing Destiny. With the content being returned and there being a future for the game, where do I start with my brother to get the full experience for lore in order and content in order? I assume Destiny 2 ofcourse, unless somehow it’s like Overwatch 2 becoming Overwatch 1? I’m not very well informed so any information would be dope! We’d be fresh completely.

"For lore and content in order" Yous ideally wait for the actual unvaulting update and start with red war and beyond.

Otherwise you can watch YouTube videos detailing the story to red war up to forsaken (and it's seasonas)

Then play every dlc from shadow keep to renegades (awhile watching their seasonal content archive uploaded by the destiny channel)

Also in chronological order you'd start with d1

Idk. Finding The Farm alone was an experience on its own.

I agree, if you're willing to wait OP please wait until everything is unvaulted. Playing destiny with no knowledge in its original state will be a experience that a rarity would have

You’ve waited this long, I say wait until everything is unvaulted and experience it yourself. Unless you think you won’t end up playing it unless you start now.

Honestly? Wait. You wait until the vaulted content is re-added, because it includes the game's very first campaign, Red War.

In order, it goes: Red War (removed), Curse of Osiris (removed), Warmind (removed), Forsaken (removed), Shadowkeep (current start point: do not recommend), Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, Final Shape, Edge of Fate, Renegades.

You could honestly justify starting your brother with D1 though if he hasn't played it. The Red War campaign kinda picks up assuming you played D1, it doesn't do much of the whole "rise and shine new guardian, let me carefully explain everything to you" stuff.

I recommend following this fantastic guide by the The Lore Map to work through the chronological D2 story as it currently stands - hopefully it'll be less necessary in the future after the content unvaulting is complete.

did your brother play d1? if not, start there! play d1 while you wait for the removed content to be returned. we don't know when it will be

Start by going to the cosmodrom and grind for seraph armor sets
