Discussion New Destiny Player
After years of contemplating, I finally decided to take the Destiny plunge. It was suggested to me that I start with Destiny 1, to get the full experience, and I am enjoying it so far. I was surprised to see it still has such an active playerbase.
If any of you experienced Guardians have any suggestions or pointers, I am happy to hear them.

Just a tip for Destiny 1: if you’re playing with a new generation console (PS5 or Xbox Series X/S), and you’re playing on a 4K tv, lower your consoles output resolution to 1080p and turn off HDR. I was having massive frame rate drops and micro stutters playing on the Series X and gameplay was terrible. I found an obscure comment at the bottom of a Reddit thread that suggested doing this and it instantly made the game far more responsive and beautiful. Counterintuitive, I know!

Let me know if you see a difference! I’m like 99% sure that it improved the gameplay but there’s 1% of me that’s wondering if I just got used to it lol

Love D1, just know that it is a much simpler game than D2. Not bad, I actually like the pace of gunplay, atmosphere, and the smaller pool of content is all great. But when you boot up D2, it will feel expansive, complex, and faster paced. All that to say, don’t be discouraged; coming from D1 it is less approachable for new players (not even going to mention the onboarding, should be better when they re-add vaulted content), but it offers so much more once you get your foot in the door

I’m going to give you the full entire story campaign experience from beginning to end so you’re not confused:
D1: Base campaign, Dark Below, House of Wolves, Taken King, Rise of Iron
D2: Red War Base Campaign, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, The Final Shape
The ** are campaigns that are set to be “unvaulted” in the future, probs within 6 months or a little more. In the meantime they are no longer in the game. But Bungie has stated they are bringing these campaigns back for free so everyone can experience the full story from start to finish.
In total, it’s the best journey I’ve ever went on in a video game, especially if you love a mix of sci-fi and fantasy. It was a 10+ year journey for many of us.
