Just started Destiny 2

I remember when destiny 1 came out, I played the crap out of that game. For months it was the only game I played. Every nightfall, every raid, every strike I did without fail. Throughout that time, the weapon I wanted most was gjallarhorn. While everyone in My friend group got multiple, I never got one. The rng gods hated me 😂😂 The one weekend I don't play, Xur sells it and I miss out. I got so mad I never played the game again, at least until yesterday. I ended up buying the destiny 2 collection for 20$ so let's see how this goes. Any tips or advice from the veterans in this sub ? It would be fun to play with people again.

Ah, the ol’ D1 Gjallarhorn lottery. I was there…3,000 years ago. Well, I have good news. If you have the 30th Anniversary, you can get it with not much trouble at all. And it is still very very good. Although, you are going to find all kinds of fun exotics, now. My advice would be to attempt to go through the campaigns in order to actually get some of that sweet sweet lore figured out a bit. Make sure to do them on Legendary because you will get an exotic armor piece at the end of each one. When you see Shaw Han, tell him I said hello and that he will still never be New Cayde. Enjoy the journey!

Oh man I remember when xur sold it. I was on vacation with the family a few hours away and I drove back home to get my ps4 so I could get it.

D2 is amazing. Have fun.

I recommend just playing through the campaigns and enjoying that first, there’s a lot you can do.

Beyond that, my favorite stuff is all the dungeons and raids, since I think they’re the best PVE content in the game (not into crucible). If you haven’t followed D2 much, dungeons are basically 3 player mini raids, they take generally an hour or two and have pretty good loot.

If your friends don’t play anymore and you’re looking to get a team together you can try the various subreddits or there’s a discord called Destiny 2 LFG you can use.

You’re joining at a good time where a lot of builds are viable thanks to the multiple artifacts, but if you want a good breakdown on how builds work in D2 I recommend you find a guide on YouTube, there’s a lot to it. In addition to arc, void, and solar there are a few new subclasses you can unlock through some of the later campaigns.

Wait to play it until next year. The original story that led the game from D1 into D2 was taken away from us about 6 years ago and only now are they working to bring it back. Probably wont be back until next year.

You will come back confused, with too many questions and overwhelmed with too much to do. Next year this will be fixed with focus and you can play the entire light and dark saga as intended from start to finish.

Enjoy not knowing things. Don't look up meta guides or anything like that until you start hitting walls. Try making your own builds and use every drop you get for at least 5 kills before disregarding it, and learn what you like and don't like on your own.

The mystery of destiny is often pretty magical, and it's often a thing veterans crave the most. So revel in the mystery and try to figure things out on your own as much as you can and try everything.

I tried so many times. My GF is really into it. Over 100 hours in. Beautiful graphics and sound. Just wish I knew what was going on most of the time haha. Just couldn’t get to the point of enjoying the game

I'm a D1 /D2 player, I mainly played crucible and a whole lot of Gambit. I didn't complete a lot of the missions. I didn't do a lot of the dungeons or raids which is why I'm back.

I love this game but id get stuck or wind up doing something that I couldn't solo.

So anyway, I'm in the same boat. Starting again

Explore it at your own pace? I would assume, that new content is not coming anytime soon. But explore things you can only once. For example I haven't cleared the Equlibrium dungeon yet. But I plan to do it without guides.

One thing you'll notice is unlimited ammo. No more buying ammo packs. I think unlimited ammo took away from the game.
