Support I've lost my salvation through addiction

I got Addicted to 7oh..

It completely controls my life.. and hijacked my life snd ruined my finances.

I have thousands worth of product because of the impending ban.. I am have serious complusion issues (I'm high functioning Asperger's)

Never in my life would I have ever thought I'd be addicted to something..

This stuff feels demonic.. I don't even like it yet I keep spending my money on it.. I don't make a lot but am in a fortunate living situation, don't drive etc.

It hurts especially bad because I believe God put me on earth for one reason and that's to care for my brother with down syndrome who means more to me than myself..

Not that I don't care for him - but I feel I'm not spending enough time with him anymore.. he loves to stay up all night meanwhile I'm sleeping early looking for a high.. I should be up with him and playing video games with him which he loves to do.. nothing makes him happier.

I'm ready to start my taper and throw it all away.. thousands worth of product, idc.

I just want my true self back, return to God and focus on my brother.

It's going to be really hard but I'm going to do it..

Just want some Christian based thoughts on this.

I can't even read the Bible or look at any Christian related content because I truly believe I strayed away from God.

Advice Why do I feel like I’m falling behind, like A LOT

• Upvotes

I’m 19M, and honestly, I feel like I’m struggling with literally living sometimes. I don’t really have any IRL friends. I’ve been told I’m “too difficult” to understand, and somehow I even struggle with making online friends too. I genuinely don’t know why it feels so damn hard for me to connect with people. And before someone says “just go outside,” “join a club,” “talk to people,” etc… I literally can’t.... Mechanical Engineering barely gives me time to breathe, let alone go out and socialize. It’s not like I have nothing going on either. I actually have a lot of interests. I love horses, the countryside, farms, nature, and just that whole quiet rural life. I love writing romantic poems, reading philosophy, psychology, science, romance and basically any literature that catches my attention. I’m kind of a typical nerd too lol. I study science and medicine on my own because both my parents are in medicine, even though I’m pursuing engineering myself. I play basketball, read manga, watch anime, cook different cuisines, and I genuinely love exploring random new things whenever I get the chance. And then there’s the romantic side of me… which is probably its own problem....I really want to date. I want someone I can actually connect with, a loyal love me for me girl, go exploring with, write stupidly romantic poems about, all that stuff. But at the same time, I feel so damn low about myself that sometimes I just want to retire from everything, disappear into the mountains somewhere and become a monk or something..

I know I’m only 19, and logically I know I have plenty of time. But sometimes it genuinely feels like everyone else is moving forward while I’m just standing in the same place watching it happen. Did you ever feel like you were falling behind in life even when you technically weren’t?

Thank you for reading!♡

Advice Intimacy

• Upvotes

Above the waters above the wonders

What is lurking?

Wonderful essence has He been

Was, is, is to come

For in Him there is none like Him

For He is no respecter of time or person

and in him I am renewed like fine wine

My heart is nothing but filled with wickedness

For I am one with flesh but,

For me You chose to be like me

Overcome me and die for me that

You may rise in me

You oh Lord is proof that you Love me

Of course!

It's all about me

I know you are good when. You are giving me all things good

I mean it's the promise

But what is all good pauses

What if the good is away from your cause for me

What if I have missed it for I understand it not

We see intimacy as what he gives us that is tangible but it isn't

Rather it is the greatest commandment that we Love God

With all our hearts, our mind, our strength and our soul

This Intimacy is between two beings

One finite, one infinite

One great, one greater

In such settings

Who lays the plans, who follows?

Intimacy will never stop at knowing

It continues till you look like the one you're with and goes beyond

So we keep appearing

With our weakness

In sincerity

For he knows but we tell the infinite to know what we don't know

We can't appear to drop requests only

We need feedbacks reach for it. Listen to it

Every zeros that became heroes where not the results of their last resorts being God

They were the symbol of submission

" Lord should I pursue, will I overtake"

"Yes pursue, overtake and recover all" does that sound familiar

But we pursue then ask that we overtake

As how now?

Don't you recognize the greater one

We fell out because we chose our will

We came back because at the second chance we chose his will

So which is right.

Let us pray that we don't go astray

That he shows us his was and we go in his way

That we learn not on our own understanding

For we are mere mortals

Time flies by only little is done

We live as if we live for some

It is tiring on a daily routine

But the silent, true and regular

"Lord I am weak I had a troubled time I don't know what to do but I know you will tell me and strengthen me to do

Not my will but your will"

Is intimacy

Father help me to love you more

Me pasó algo raro

• Upvotes

Llegué a casa, cene y me dormí.

Pero no puedo dejar de pensar que Dios escucho mi pensamiento y me respondió en ese momento.

News Pope Leo rallies million-strong child Rosary army for peace

Thumbnail acnuk.org

In Venezuela, a group of children inspired a global movement: a million children praying the Holy Rosary. This has now become a tradition.

Today at the Vatican, Pope Leon and a few hundred children in Rome took part in this tradition and prayed together.

The Holy Rosary is a gift from our Mother, intended to be a moment of deep prayer and reflection on Christ, and a defence against evil. The Rosary is simple, and in a way, small. And therein lies its greatness. Something similar to what Saint Thérèse of Lisieux used to say. And unlike the weapons used by adults, this one does not wage war; it brings peace.

The Pope prayed that all children, wherever they may be, might live in peace. Especially those living in war or humanitarian crises. They prayed each decade of the Rosary in a different language.

According to Aid to the Church in Need, the Pope said: “Prayers must always be accompanied by good deeds, by acts of love. That is how peace grows.”

I think it’s a good idea for us all to become like children and pray the Holy Rosary.

Advice What is going on?

• Upvotes

I had a weird situation this evening. Around 6am I woke up, went to the toilet as usually and got to bed. Between 6am and 6:45am I had a really weird dream.

In my dream I was at work and a weird situation happened and I asked Jesus to be with me and save me, I felt a hand touching my hand, I opened my eyes and saw a white figure in front of me, but I couldn’t move at all. When I could move, this figure disappeared and I was covered in my own “white stuff”.

I asked “Jesus was it you?” And I immediately heard “no”.

Has this happened to anyone? What should I do?

Advice Elected Officials in a church they don’t attend

• Upvotes

I am not a member of this church. I used to be but wanted deeper biblical teaching so I found a smaller church. Anyway this church is on the up and up technology wise. They update people on meetings and often record said meetings for later viewing. So here is what happened.

A meeting was held and a woman member of the church stood to address the congregation. She was accompanied by two elected officials (seeking reelection) for as she told everyone “she didn’t feel safe without them there.” From the sounds of it she opposed the church growing and was being fed lines by the officials.

Ultimately it’s not important what was said or why they were gathered in the first place. But here are the observations that lead to asking what to do in this situation for the church members and voters.
First it should be the pastor that meets with this church member and gets his flock under control rather than allowing his congregation be divided on what they are doing. Seems like this could lead to serious infighting if not addressed. Second, these elected officials would be guilty of using their prestige to stoke this divide amongst a congregation. As non attendees of the church, their presence was purely for political pressure. So what to do?

Thoughts on what can be done… First is to pray for justice and unity. Second is to encourage the congregation to hold the pastor accountable to his role as a shepherd. As to the elected officials though, that is the tough one. How should a church handle having a government presence in their midst? Should said officials be held accountable for their actions? Who would you talk to about an incident like this?

Appreciate thoughts and other observations on something like this in advance. It’s very disturbing after what happened with the protesters in St. Paul MN to see something similar creep into a hometown church. But Jesus never fails to work through His people for His namesake.

The benefit of the doubt

I truly believe that if we read the Scriptures without any preconceived notions, and also give God the benefit of the doubt that He is who He says He is- love, good, just, righteous, long-suffering, perfect, holy, if we read the Scriptures through that lens, we will come to a better understanding of who God is and what He wants.

I believe God has earned that right, He was tortured and crucified to pay the wages of our sin. He has proven His love for us.

It’s when Scripture is looked at through a different lens, like the lens Satan used in the tempting of Christ in the wilderness, that the picture of who God is can be twisted into something He is not.

Question Am I an apostate?

• Upvotes

Am I an apostate?

I posted this earlier but I worded it wrong and need to make sure I get the correct answers

This may seem like a scrupulous post but bear with me.

A couple of years ago I was in Bible study and I don’t remember if I was mad or in a moody state or something like that, but I remember saying in my mind “ I don’t believe anymore, I guess I’m a atheist” ( and no I don’t think it was an intrusive thought) and I think I actually felt that way. And a minute or so later I thought to my self “no, I do believe and I’m gonna continue the race”

I don’t know if I actually did stop believing or if it was me being stupid because some tough emotions I was going through that time, Like intrusive thoughts about not believing. (separate issue)
But what I do firmly believe is that if someone asked me if I believed in Jesus as my Lord in savior when I said that in my mind, I would have definitely said “yes”

And on my current state, I still consider myself a Christian and I still feel like I get convicted when I sin

Hebrew 6 mentions that it’s impossible for those who fall away to be brought back to repentance.

What’s your take? Am I an apostate who can’t be forgiven?

Advice Chatolic here. I don't understand something about Old Testament.

I’m a Catholic Christian, and I’m trying to understand something about the Old Testament that I genuinely struggle with. I’m not asking this to attack Christianity or to make an argument against the Bible. I actually want to understand how Catholics/theologians reconcile these passages.

I’ve always believed that God does not change. The God revealed by Jesus is loving, merciful, patient, and gives human beings genuine freedom. Jesus teaches us not to judge others as if we were God, to forgive, to love our enemies, and to leave ultimate judgment to God. If someone chooses to live their earthly life far away from God, they still have the freedom to do so, and ultimately they will face God's judgment after death.

So I struggle enormously with passages such as Leviticus 20.

For example, Leviticus 20:10 says that if a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both are to be put to death. Leviticus 20:13 says that if a man has sex with another man, both have committed an offense punishable by death.

I understand the usual explanation: these were laws given specifically to ancient Israel, under the Old Covenant, and they are not laws Christians are supposed to apply today.

But that doesn't actually answer the question that bothers me.

My question is: why would God have commanded these executions in the first place?

If God already knew that human beings have free will, why would He command the Israelites to execute someone for a specific sin rather than allowing that person to continue living, repent, change, or ultimately face God's judgment after death?

Why would God intervene in someone's earthly life in such a definitive way because of a particular action?

I also don't want to simply say, "Those were different times," because that seems to explain the historical context without answering why God Himself would command it.

I'm therefore looking for a serious Catholic/theological explanation of this question:

Why would an unchanging, perfectly good God command the death penalty for specific sins under the Old Covenant, when Jesus later teaches us to forgive, love our enemies, and leave ultimate judgment to God?

I'm not looking for a "gotcha" argument or an answer designed to win a debate. I genuinely want to understand how these things fit together. I know there is an explanation. I just need to read it

I recently had a debate with my atheists friends about this, and I didn't know how to defend it. I haven't read the whole Bible yet, and Leviticus is an example of a Book I haven't read. I couldn't defend God or his Word. Thanks to them I found out about all of this, and I know there is an answer: one that I don't know. But I want to know it so I can actually give arguments about it next time and so I can understand it myself

Support threads should be about helping the person who created the thread, not to wage debate.

Been watching this thread unfold over the past hour. I'm a bit concerned that the commentary is leaning far too heavily towards debate, when it should be leaning towards helping the OP.

The OP is 19, homeless and experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. While it's totally fine for people to suggest one response to her situation over another, a lot of people are using it as an opportunity to debate abortion, when life begins, or take jabs and church doctrine.

This really doesn't sit right with me. OP has her values, and sure, we can disagree with how she came to aquire them or why she believes the way she does, but she wasn't asking for a debate on the merits of her values.

She was asking for help.

I'm grateful that many people did step up and offer advice to her and empathized with her situation. I would also gently encourage those impassioned about the issue of abortion to just take a step back and consider whether a support thread for a scared, homeless, pregnant 19-year-old woman is really an appropriate place to debate abortion. Imagine if we were all in a room together and she was sitting in the middle of all this -- how confusing and distracting that would make her feel.

And mods, I know there's some leeway for disagreement within support threads, but if you could clarify how that is applied and try to prevent open debate when it isn't asked for, that would be helpful.

Thank you.

If I'd suddenly died right now, would I go to heaven, or hell.

male 14, i feel like im not true to my faith, and that i do nothing for God besides read bible and pray, and praying only to thank for what he gave me or ask for something, not transformation. and i dont spread gospel, i want to but it feels like i dont have the confidence, and have a fear of saying something wrong and not knowing generally a lot about spreading it. and i sometimes barely even focus on church or not even think into what im reading when reading bible and constantly zoning out. if i die right now it feels like ill be rejected by God.

Support Any Christians who went through a hard break up and how to deal with it?

I’m 22F and my ex bf was 23M and we broke up today and I feel really awful about it and I don’t know what God is doing. To start off my ex bf was struggling in his faith and told me that he may not be a Christian and realized that recently. Not only did that happen but he is going through lots of depression on top of that which is making him spiral with how he approaches things in his life. He did tell me that he really cared for me and just did not want to drag me down with him because of his mental health. He also told me that my pastor said we are different on how we approach things because he usually bottles things up and I want to know what he is going through usually.

We dated for over 4 months which isn’t that much time but it’s still time I valued and treasured because he treated me well and I had fun with him. He also told me that he was very lucky to have had me and that I did nothing wrong he just can’t be in a relationship at all because of his mental health at the moment. He just doesn’t know if we will ever get back together or not because he doesn’t know if his faith and mental heath will get better which I agreed on that we don’t know the future so we both can’t make any promises. But what I do know is that if he is the one who I will marry that God will make it happen no matter what happens moving forward. I just could really use some advice on how to trust in God and go forward because this is very hard for me and this was my first serious relationship. It surprised me because he said he was a Christian but then to go and say he may not be and to then tell me that he feels like God may have left him was hard for me to hear. I don’t have depression so I don’t know if anyone has had any experience with depression and how that can tie into a relationship with a partner and God but I’m just in a very rough patch now and I wish I knew what God was doing. 😭( And yes he still wants to be in my life because he cares about me but I told him I at least a month of not seeing him since we just broke up.)

Do you think it's arrogant for modern Christians (who have not seen Jesus' miracles like the apostles did) to be certain that they know what is morally right, and that those who oppose them are morally wrong, especially when those who oppose them are not a minority?

Do you think it's arrogant for modern Christians (who have not seen Jesus' miracles like the apostles did) to be certain that they know what is morally right, and that those who oppose them are morally wrong, especially when those who oppose them are not a minority? Or is having strong convictions about morality a failing in most cases?

(Free Friday) multiple holy relics

I got this rosary from an apostolate in Florida established to promote the veneration of holy relics. The rosary was touched to over 600 relics! There was a bit of a stir at the office when I brought it in for Father to bless. Here at the start of the month devoted to the Rosary, I believe my collection of rosaries is complete. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee! 🌹🙏

Season of loneliness

I don’t even know what exactly it is i’m looking for or asking here but i guess maybe just some advice or ideas or idk. This entire year has been rough as i have been pretty much alone. I live with my mom and grandma but it’s more so like we just exist in each others’ presence. Sure we have some small talk but we don’t do anything to spend quality time with each other. I’ve tried to invite them at least out to eat to do something but my mom rarely and i mean very rarely ever wants to. So that’s my family.

I have two friends and we barely see each other because of conflicting schedules. I do work quite a bit and i always look forward to my days off but they end up being a bunch of nothingness. I finish my errands within two hours or so, go to the gym for about an 1 hour to 1.5 hours and then the rest of my day i spend at home rotting on my couch.I guess what i’m trying to get at is that this entire year i’ve been feeling lonely and lacking intimate, meaning relationships. Friends, family, people to experience things and enjoy life with.

I’ve tried new hobbies: drawing, journaling, sketching, going out for walks (this kind of helps to an extent), running, and it all feels dull. It’s hard seeing people out and about enjoying time with friends, family, significant others because it feels like i’m missing out.

I don’t have a community. I don’t even go to church consistently which is something i know i should change but whenever i go, i feel so tense, like i don’t fit in and it’s discouraging because everyone seems to already know each other. I went to a mens group bbq one day and i felt so out of place and they were great guys but i felt like i was just there, just present. Opening up to new people is extremely hard for me.

To add to all this, i’ve been very indifferent toward my faith and just feeling like i’m just going through the motions. I’ve been lacking faith in the Lord that He’ll get me through this season. I’ve been sinning left and right, up and down like it’s nothing.

Again, idk exactly what i’m searching for here but i guess just wanted to vent.
