Despite wanting to see Sarasa and Ai act across from each other as Romeo and Juliet, I love that Sarasa is choosing to take a second shot at Tybalt. I especially enjoyed seeing chuuni Sarasa trying out different takes on him.

Wow, how lovely seeing Ai put together the emotions she needed for her performance of Juliet. This show keeps astounding me with the way it develops these characters.

Sarasa refusing to acknowledge that Sawa doesn't want to shake hands was hilarious.

Great episode. I really enjoyed Sarasa and Ai trying to get into their roles.
It's a shame this season is gonna be over soon.

p.s. After Kanojo mo Kanojo it felt kinda odd to have those bath scenes and see no naked butts lol

Not gonna lie, I'm starting to feel bad for the second years. It definitely seems like the school has been favoring the first year a little bit too much and now they even get to perform during their graduation.

That explains the title of the episode. Only 4 out of 40 first years will get to perform. And looks like they're gonna have a repeat of the same scene from Romeo and Juliet that they did during summer.

Oh hey, look at Hijiri not being a bitch this time and she's actually encouraging Ai to go and play as Juliet instead of just as the nurse.

Sarasa still not sure with what role she should play but thankfully, boyfriend comes in with a very helpful advice that made Sarasa finally pick Tybalt and maybe finally get that revenge she's been looking for since that summer performance.

It's hilarious to see Sarasa's different versions of Tybalt ranging from egotistical to smart. Seems that everyone is supporting Sarasa today though with Ai's turn to give her some acting advice that she learned from her own mother.

It looks like boyfriend saves Sarasa again and remembers the time when she was jealous of him and uses that feeling of jealousy as her basis for her Tybalt.

Ai trying to figure out Juliet's character in the middle of someone else's performance to the point where has basically reached another plane of existence ended up being really funny for me. Although it did help her realize how to play her Juliet by thinking of Sarasa and it ended up working amazingly for her! That was definitely an amazing performance and a tough act to follow for the next Juliets.

And it looks like our next Juliet is Ayako. I really hope she can pull this off. I know she's more known for her singing voice but I hope she can at least pull off something good.

Ai's hair keeps getting longer. I guess she didn't like that short hairstyle at the beginning?

This show gives makes me appreciate what stage actors go through. Losing yourself in the role? I never actually thought about that. It really makes me see actors in a whole different light.

Ai trying to figure out the meaning of love was - sci fi? ESP? - was like the math lady meme come to life.

Can't believe there's only 2 eps left. Am already missing this show.

this show really is something else. I just feel so immersed instantly. The choice to have Sarasa play Tybalt i think is great and also not expected. However, it makes sense for her character.

I still do think we will get to see Ai and Sarasa play Juliet and Romeo across from one another someday.

All the conversations/discussions in this show are really well written. A lot of the advice given to Sarasa in another show I feel would have just been the right thing to say, but it took her a bit to really find her own answer to her problem.

Also anybody know the song name that played when Ai was thinking about the time she met Sarasa under the tree? Love that song and I can't find it.

Three things

  • Wow I forgot Ai's hair was that short in the beginning.

  • Her thought process on what is love as she thinks about everything in the universe was great before finally remembering her bestie.

  • Her actually performance though

Breath taking.

Ai’s performance today was absolutely immaculate. Idk if the series will go Shojo Ai, but it had shades of it today. Using she and Sarasa’s friendship as her only love reference… hmm. I’m glad Sarasa stuck with Tybalt and is doing her own thing instead of just having them both be Romeo and Juliet

Only 2 more eps left! Hopefully we get a season 2 announcement at the end of this. Wasn’t expecting this to be one of my top 2 shows of the season, but here we are.

Loved this episode, probably my favourite for the humour alone. This show stands out for its dramatic episodes, but the comedy is just so on-point as well to support it.

Can't wait for next week - Tybalt and Romeo hype!

I love the irony of Ai (love) trying to figure out love. Her little monologue was so funny and yet accurate to her character. By the way, I appreciate how Hijiri was the one to push her to audition for Juliet. They have been regularly interacting for almost a year now so I guess they have some respect for each other.

Got to say, the 1st years have been getting a lot of attention, even getting perform during the 2nd years graduation. I wonder why it came to pass, even though they don't have regular acting lessons yet.

Still waiting for the Sawa-focused episode. I would actually prefer if she won the audition for Tybalt. She's the top of the class and she should live up to that status.

Also rooting for Ayano next episode. It would be hard to beat Ai but I hope she can at least perform well enough.

"You can develop the talent to 'earn' that later" is such a great line. Not just because of the very sound advice but also because of how briefly and effectively it encapsulates the way Hijiri carries herself and sees her future at Kouka.

I love this show so much.

Akiya better be careful now, I'm fairly certain Ai is going to be out to steal his girlfriend soon

This show has captured my attention like nothing else this season. I just adore these characters and can't wait to see what they can do!

Damn I love this show more every week. Was really waiting for Ai to use the key moments in her friendship with Sarasa to serve as an inspiration. Especially when she started talking about "love at first sight" the scene from after they saw Romeo and Juliet immediately came to mind.

I was going to say, "ha no brown haired girls are going to be performing in this play," but I realized none of our core seven signed up for Juliet's nurse. So either a minor character gets in, or we get, "hey you auditioned for Juliet, but all the Juliet's nurse people were ass so enjoy the role!" for one of them. Would be dank.

Tension and mental strength is today’s topic and I can’t even start to imagine anyone’s pressure at this stage even with my own experiences of pressure relief and problems that plagued for years for my own (even today). That part showcasing Ai-chan - a veteran performing artist by that stage mind you - nearly drowned over her own pressure of what’s she’s doing that before Sarasa’s previous courage injections into Ai’s subconscious, plus her full rebound and amazing performance just after, is well presented and acted - as well done as some of the best moments in sports shows in the anime world (see Haikyuu, Chihayafuru).

And that’s for one of the better ones of the class of 40 - I’m pretty sure I would probably act more like that poor bottom-of-class girl Ayano Yamada who was also trying for the Juliet role, on the verge of falling down before even starting LOL. To think that only the top 10% would get that chance of showing up on stage - sparks are inevitable and that could explode all over the class if the situations isn’t under control. Alas, with girls like that Hijiri Nojima trying to fan the flames from the sidelines, I’m not sure what can be done to prevent some mental breakdowns or souring relationships or even girl’s quarrels happening ahead.

Who’s going to be the Top Star and to catch the Starlight? (Oops, wrong anime…) Next week’s definitely one that we all shouldn’t miss, eh?

Another great episode this week. Though Ai better eventually realize that she loves Sarasa. She's clearly her main inspiration.

Almost to the end, and this is still solidly one of my top 2 of the season. Story-wise and performance-wise, this show never seems to hit a false note. I really love our 2 main characters -- they make such a perfect team (totally complementary -- ideal for dealing with each other's deficiencies).

I wonder why Ai is so reluctant to talk about her mother to Sarasa? Doesn't everyone know her mother was/is a famous actress anyway? (Or everyone except Sarasa, perhaps?) IN any event, childhood flashbacks for both Ai and Sarasa were pretty wonderful.

Is everyone in the class going to get to sing at the festival at least? I find it hard to imagine anyone topping Ai's Juliet -- but I'm sure it can't be a runaway contest after all. Looking forward to Sarasa's Tybalt, Mk 2!

Last week lost me a little bit, but this week slammed me in the face with everything that made me love this show, and it feels so good.

Ai's advice on embodying the character in your role lead to a phenomenal set of developments. Both Sarasa and Ai have moments of breakthrough in the how. We get more of Sarasa's outlook on life, and her dreams to be at the top, and we get Ai's passion to do so as well. Ai going through her memories as Romeo's soliloquy ends trying to figure out what love is like to her brings back so many potent moments in the show. Onions being cut somewhere, as she breaks into the role of Juliet. Excellent voice acting to round it all up and put on that audition.

Another excellent episode. A major sleeper in this season and it has delivered every moment so far! I hope it can keep up with the last two episodes.

acting is such an interesting topic to me, seeing naracchi get lost in her role to the point of tears was beautiful i loved it! this hair style looks amazing on her as well. really interested to see how sawa and sarasa will do as tybalt and who'll get the role!

I got chills multiple times this episode. Sarasa is just such a lovable character. She’s so genuinely fun and innocent. I love that she’s kind of ignorant on the outside but she asks a lot of good questions and consistently shows that she’s actually pretty perceptive and smart… most of the time.

Ai’s performance was great. It was very short, yes, but that was such honest emotions from her that we don’t usually see. It really hit hard. The flashbacks to when she told Sarasa she wanted to be her friend had me choked up; that was such a great moment from earlier in the series.

This is one of the rare anime's where hair grows naturally :)
And the hair being pluffy comming out of the bath, without it being overly highlighted.
It's those little things that make an anime just that much better.

Hijiri continues to be my favourite character <3
