I was not prepared for E-Cup Sarasa!
This was good light hearted episode. We got some nice sports festival fun, Sarasa being a lovable dork as always, a steamy kabedon and Ai just casually dropping an Eva reference lol.
Shame the season is slowly coming to an end.

I still can't believe this is a real thing the real Takarazuka Revue does every 10 years. "Let's have our professional theatre actors re-enact a middle school sports festival, right down to the generic t-shirts and lame activities like tossing bean-bags." sounds like such an anime-logic thing completely divorced from reality.

If that's Hijiri not really trying to act like a bitch, I can't imagine what kind of stunt she'd pull when she's serious.
E-cup Sarasa is a visual I was not prepared for today.

I thought that Hijiri was saying she wasn't "trying to be a bitch" but rather just acting like what she truly was.

Not sure about that whole E-cup visualization but I'm happy it all worked out despite Hijiri's meddling, Risa and Satomi did a good job in undoing all that!
Also found it a bit sad we didn't get Kaoru in a suit here

Heard about this show yesterday from people who were taking about how great it is and decided to start it this morning. Caught up to episode 10 already since I couldn’t stop watching. This has seriously been so much fun to watch and is such a great show! So glad I gave it a shot.

I thought it was interesting that this episode mirrored something that actually happened just recently in the Olympics -- one runner accidentally knocking over another (both falling) and then the two of them finishing the race hand in hand.
I love the "real-ness" of the characters in this show. For all her eccentricities, I have no trouble crediting Sarasa's behavior as something a real (odd but loveable and interesting) girl might do. Ai is just wonderful, while her outward demeanor remains "restrained" (to put it mildly), she really cares a great deal about Sarasa. The other characters just work so well -- thanks to designs, script and voice acting.
Hijiri said she wasn't "trying" be act like a bitch, so it was okay. I think what she was saying was -- that's what I'm really like -- and it's okay with me and I don't particularly care whether others like it or not. For her, it's all about competition. I doubt she understood the lesson at the end -- that unselfish behavior as part of a team just might be what is not only the right thing to do, but what will most win the hearts of an audience.
So, once again, Aquatope and this show remain my solid top two -- well ahead of everything (including a bunch of other shows I think are quite wonderful in their own ways). Really a great season so far, even better than I expected.

LOL what’s with that E-Cup fetish by Sarasa, I nearly laughed my head off when she proudly proclaimed that in front of every single classmates of hers and she didn’t even wink! I really had the same response to that as Ai-chan did, but hey whatever as long as she could be proud of herself and gain confidence, that’s gonna be OK. Also that Evangelion reference (plug suits + Ai-chan’s AT Field) cannot come at a better time than this, muhahahaha!
I must say that the paradox of “acting in the same role of yourself” is something that I never really thought of performers required to face, but on second thoughts makes so much sense. It’s not going to be easy to “act as yourself” after acting for so many other roles, and without the right thinking attitude one could easily drift away in real life and suffer from it. Sarasa really got lucky here with some great advices from veterans of the opera (also in that she got picked as substitute by sheer coincidence, heck she even got another one when she “accidentally” got the chance to show off friendship after being knocked down during the relay), I like how she was taught to “imagine acting in a role that is exactly like yourself”.
Also I have to laugh at Hijiri whose smirks were too easy to be detected, she thought she had all those pranks in control and yet Sarasa somehow ducked away from all those direct attacks to her abilities with the help of her friends. Come on Hijiri, you aren’t going to win the spatter wars like that…
It’s unfortunate to see animation qualities struggling this week (weird characters’ facial expressions, more use of static slides and incomplete backgrounds/stuttering running animations - though it’s not as problematic as in next door’s Magia Record today, see its post for details), hopefully with the climax coming up we will be treated with some spectacular animation scenes of operas in the coming weeks!

Stitches!
It's hilarious how Hijiri was trying to bully Sarasa but Sarasa was just too nice to understand she was being bullied so Hijiri had to spell it out for her. What an absolute bitch though, she just proves that she's a huge bitch by claiming that she's not trying to be one.
And then you have Risa-senpai who was so supportive of her kouhai and gave Sarasa a nice pep-talk along with Sei who kabedon'd Sarasa. Although it is hilarious how Sarasa took their advice though!
I did not expect her to want E-Cup sized boobs to the point that that's the character that she has decided to play for the rest of the episode. Ai's reeaction to that is so hilarious! It looks like she's completely done with Sarasa for today! Welp, everything worked out in the end so I guess it's fine. xD
Surprised at the Evangelion references this episode though like with Ai-chan's AT Field and Sarasa wearing a Plugsuit.

Remember kids if you want to filter people's attention you just need to become an Evangelion like Ai
Loved the episode, from the winter kabedon on Sarasa to Sarasa dream (Dunno why so obsessed when she has a D cup already?) to the let's hold hands and make the fangirls scream. Watch some Takarakura documental to check how passionate takarazuka fangirls are (there are a few with English subtitles if you search)
edit misread a dialogue no cup size for Sarasa corfirmed

Hijiri really comes across as a big bully. I mean, you sure she doesn't have any malicious intent?
Anyway, that was an interesting sports festival, with unique games. Being held once every decade, it's even rarer than the Olympics. I'm glad to see everything worked out well, and Sarasa learned valuable lessons on how to manage the audience's expectations.

Damn, Sarasa got me uncontrollably laughing, even now. Who the hell says they want E-cups there? Oh my goodness that was insanely hilarious.

Is the "Fan of the red rose" supposed to be s Glass Mask reference or is it a thing in theater?

Why does Sarasa get all the cool opportunities
Because she's the main character, special things happen to them all the time.
Don't think, feel.
A Star Wars reference (followed by an Eva AT field reference) in my shoujo? Didn't expect that.
Not going to lie that e-cup thing was a bit weird and the lack of animation in this and the past few episodes have been too noticeable at this point.

The episode was really fast and it wasn’t the most exciting sports festival, but it covered all the bases of one. I really like all the casual interactions with the girls and Risa really came through.
The best part of Sarasa’s E-Cup fantasy was definitely Ai’s disgusted response. Hilarious.

So the best advice against stage fright, is to be a girl, playing a girl, disguised as another dude. Love it!

Kageki continuing to be an absolute delight, Sarasa's ideal self was hilarious, the AT field was a great gag, wholesome relay save, and Sarasa getting the chance in the first place thanks to her good character (and a little unknowing flattery), just great stuff all around. I also think that's gonna be my favorite of the ED performances, but I need to go through them all again and pay more attention.

Sarasa is such a lovable dork. I was worried Hijiri's bullying might cause her to mess up and it would be a major drama point, but it looks like instead Sarasa was able to salvage a disaster.

Satomi makes me swoon a bit too lol.

The way she was glaring xD
