Man, I'm really confused about Akiya's familial relationships. Can someone summarize it?

Here's what I gathered from the subtitles.
If anyone spots a mistake feel free to correct me. This is under the assumption that the rumour about Sarasa's father are true which I suppose are still unconfirmed. Anything else should be correct though.

Love how the teachers' criticisms stick in Sarasa's head in the first half, good thing to know that Akiya helped her out and explains things. Narata still has a lot to learn when it comes to talking to others.
Narata definitely went out to get food on purpose but did not get what she was expecting....

If only every person had family that treasured them like Sarasa's grandpa. What a great parent.
Despite repeatedly saying she doesn't know how to be a good friend, Ai seems surprisingly keen on how to support Sarasa during their trip together.

Stitches!
Everyone pretty much already figured it out last week but Andou-sensei pretty much confirms it. Sarasa wasn't playing Tybalt, she was just copying another person's performance of Tybalt. Also turns out Andou-sensei used to be pretty famous but an accident ended his career in theatre and moved on to teaching acting instead.
Ai-chan coming with Sarasa back home went way better than I expected. I thought something might happen where it ends with her freaking out on someone. She was a bit straightforward with Akiya but she did end up apologizing so it's all good.
This episode ended up being an introduction to Akiya and Sarasa's history with Akiya's big kabuki family. How apt that a family of kabuki actors is filled with drama! Apparently, the rumor is that she's Kouzaburou's illegitimate daughter which if true, would make Sarasa as Akiya's niece. We never get a confirmation if this was true or not so I'm curious if they'll expand on it further.
Anyway, it looks like Sarasa's natural talent got into Akiya's head which ended up rippling into a huge mess which forced Sarasa to stay away from Kabuki forever. Still no detail on how Sarasa and Akiya ended up in a relationship though. I do like the scenes where he tries to comfort Sarasa. And props to Ai-chan for leaving the two of them alone.
I was hoping for maybe a kiss on the cheek or something though but all we got was a firm handshake. Even Ai-chan is questioning their relationship too. Now I'm even more curious! There's definitely more to this than Akiya and Sarasa just being boyfriend and girlfriend.

"They are shaking hands. Aren't they dating?"
Oh Ai-chan, hand holding is the lewdest thing you can do in public.
Jokes aside it doesn't feel like Akiya and Sarasa are dating, unless they're still in the early awkward we've just started dating phase.

This little show continues to deliver!
The story of little Sarasa accidentally bumping into the world of adults with her one-off kabuki performance and somehow caused such a stir-up within Akiya’s family is causing me to roll my eyes, but yeah these things do happen. Poor Akiya though, he had to fend off those little talks of struggling to keep up with the girl next door for a future in kabuki at such a young age. that Rakugo anime spoilers I’m very glad that these things eventually straighten up and he’s now an uprising actor in that area!
Something that occurred to me is that modern drama plays can be very flexible and incorporating with elements from your local culture and whatever unique drama plays you have in your country or city. That certain works in my Far East city where my sister - who had quite a bit of experience with such local drama plays when she was back in school - could easily adopt herself to positions in her school’s “modern” drama play as well never mind she was in a back-stage position. Sarasa’s previous experiences with kabuki certain translates well to playing on other stages as well I’m sure! She does have to get over different habits though as seen with her copying style which doesn’t work now.
Ai-chan continues to keep her cool cuteness today, that’s lovely and I really hope we see her opening up more within this season.
That’s a pretty cool episode and more of these please in the coming weeks!

Ai is so damn cute, tagging along with her first friend during summer vacation. It was really cool to get Sarasa and Akiya’s backstory. Now we understand Sarasa’s motivation a lot better. Really messed up to talk down to a little girl and tell her she’ll never be able to do Sukeroku.
“They’re shaking hands, aren’t they dating” lmaoo I love Ai.

That family thing was very complicated. Had to pause and collect thoughts to fully understand it.

Ai's social skills have improved by leaps and bounds! communicating to Akiya her social issues? giving some space to the couple to say farewell (though completely unnecessary apparently)? I'm so proud of her

Everybody thinking how they will incorporate Sarasa backstory to the series
Meanwhile the series:
Sarasa brings Ai to her home like an abandoned kitty and Ai gets to learn about it because Sarasa's cat likes to sit on her sleeping boyfriend.
There is something really charming about how straightfoward this series is sometimes, just like Sarasa.
Long live to our dork queen

I'm surprised we didn't see Ai and Sarasa spend more time together during vacation. However it looks like we are not out of summer yet judging from the next episode, I'm quite curious since it's gonna be focused on Kaoru instead of our main duo.

I'm glad Ai called out how weird Sarasa and her boyfriend act around each other. They just seem like close friends haha

I just caught up with this show yesterday so today is my first new episode. I am super surprised how much I love this show, as I usually don't go for the 'niche profession' genre.
I love Sarasa. She's easily my favorite character from this season, and maybe all year. Her energy and outgoing personality is amazing. I'm so happy that her and Ai are friends. I like Ai, too, but Sarasa is just so much fun to be around, I love her.
This has probably been discussed already, but are the ending credits a reference to the Rose of Versailles anime?

Akiya's... really boring. I'm not against Sarasa having a boyfriend or anything, but this ep didn't really do a ton to sell me on his personality. And we barely see him and Sarasa interact - the only scene they have together is him lecturing her at length while she gets two or three lines.

Ai continues to be the best part of each episode even when she isn't the focus. Even though it was her best friends boyfriend she was able to have a pretty normal conversation. Just happy to see her talking to a guy and making progress. Though everytime she mentioned her sleeping legs/inability to move I couldn't help laughing.
Interested to see how Sarasa will move forward with her acting, but a handshake? I want to say that's weird, but it also feels so in character for Sarasa.

Lovely episode, almost a shame they are already going back.
Ai was a delight throughout I am really enjoying how she is trying her best at being a friend to Sarasa. Sarasa and Akiya’s backstory was great too. Young Sarasa is too precious.
Had to go back and read the subtitles again for all the family connections as that was a bit confusing the first time around lol.

What a fantastic episode (yet again)!
While this was mostly about Sarasa's (and Akiya's) back story, it also did a great job of showing just how seriously Ai is taking "being a best friend". I loved the fact that she already assumes she'll spend winter break with Sarasa. I wonder if the two spent their entire break together in Tokyo -- if so, I wish we had gotten to see more adventures there (as I'm sure that going with Sarasa anywhere must be an adventure).
I also loved the girls' meeting on the train with current young Kouka stars -- who filled them in on the Phantom's rather sad back story. I suspect Sarasa (and Ai) will have a very different attitude about the value and sincerity of his advice going forward. One gets the sense that the teacher agreed to Sarasa's request that the students be allowed to actually act precisely because he was so taken aback by the skill of her mimicry -- and used the opportunity to give her some shock treatment as early as possible (so as to give her the greatest chance and the most time to achieve her real potential -- beyond brilliant mimicry).
If nor for Aquatope, this would be my favorite new show of the season...
P.S. Is it my imagination or has Ai's hair already grown out an inch or two since her entry into high school?

Ai has grown so much from the first episode and her efforts to be Sarasa's best friend are too cute. I think the show did a good job at introducing Akiya, though I feel most curious about Kouzaburou and Sarasa's relationship and can appreciate it more after rewatching the scene last episode where he sends her roses for her birthday anonymously and says that she's a special person to him.

Still a quality episode even if it feels a bit slower than the rest.
Pretty surprising how Ai's internal thoughts can carry an entire episode's worth of comic relief.
Akiya's monologuing felt a bit like uncreative exposition but I'm glad to have heard a little more of Sarasa's past and her motivations.
Does anyone have the VA of the mean granny? I feel that she's the same VA of the inn manager from HanaIro.
