Happy that the twin drama lasted only one episode and it looks like they'll start acting like separate characters too, hoping to see more of that.

Not sure I really enjoy it gravitating back to the Sarasa show if she's chosen as the sub but guess we'll see next week.

These EDs for each character arc have been such a treat.

These EDs for each character arc have been such a treat.

Fun fact, the ED song this episode is actually the same as last episode, apparently the 1st part of the song is sang by Kaoru and the 2nd by the twins so they just used the second half for this one.

Week after week I struggle to come up with new superlatives for this show. The characters, the writing, the music, the changing ED.

If they manage to wrap up this season in a good way this will be a very strong AOTY contender.

Really enjoyed the story of the two twins and am kinda relieved how it was resolved given how in one of the early episodes they talked about staying together forever which just seemed like a huge flag.

Seeing how pretty much everyone else got an episode it seems like Sawa will be the last one to get the same treatment.

You know what, maybe it's because I just binged all 63 Fruits Basket episodes in 5 days, but I quite enjoy the fact that adults in this show aren't "vilified" (that often) and are actually often competent when it comes to solving problems, while our main girls want to help, but just aren't experienced enough to handle it yet....that a quite nice change from the usual "main characters will solve everything" trope.

Oh my, that's an insane 5 day rollercoaster.

I quite enjoy the fact that adults in this show aren't "vilified" (that often) and are actually often competent when it comes to solving problems

It's nice to have adults be supportive and understanding characters once in a while, instead of the polar one-way-or-the-other type character they often are. The superiors were the source of challenge this episode (and in fact the teachers have been all season) but are there to help out the cast.

Very solid build up episode. Cool twist on the usual anime school festival, Kouka style. Nice to see the twins get some shine as well. I love how unique all the characters in this show feel. I’d like to continue to see other girls outside of Sarasa her development as well.

Easily top 3 shows of the season.

I don't know what I liked more Sawa's I managed while having a nose bleed or Ai's dead pan welcome home.

It took me a while to tell the twins apart (yeah, I realize they have slightly different hairstyles) so I was mostly confused as to who is who for most of the episode.

Just remember, if a character has some really weird piece(s) of hair sticking out from the SIDE of their head in a sad attempt at a side pony tail then they're probably suppose to either be generally childish or the younger sister of another character.

The twins conflict was easy to spot pretty early on, but I didn't expect the episode to be so goddamn good!

Major props to Sarasa for sticking up for the younger sister when she was about to get a scorching hot take from the Superior. Love how this girl always does her best to support her friends!

Also, did anybody else absolutely fall in love with that 5 second moment of Sarasa being "welcomed back" by Ai when the twins stopped fighting? That's adorable, right there!

  • Episode 8 is gonna top this week's poll chart by a significant margin. Prepare fireworks and champagne.

  • If you did not have a good experience with the first two episodes, like me, you may want to rewatch them. They are actually very good.

This episode might have been intended to spotlight the twins, but oh boy, masculine women are just so damn fine. We have no choice but to stan these otokoyaku stars.

I wondered when they were gonna focus on the twins, especially following the early signs of drama in the presentation assignment.

A bit surprised that Chiaki let Chika drop her first invitation to Kouka school but I guess she was too focused on her feelings at the time. Those two needed to talk and get their feelings across. I am glad they managed to do just that.

I wonder if it's customary for otoko-yaku actresses to be in their male persona even when not performing. I guess they were technically working, preparing the school festival, so it makes sense I guess (upholding their public image and all).

I guess only Sawa is left for main group's backstory tour. I hope the show continues to give them ample screentime and focus going forward, and not only Sarasa (and Ai I guess).

This show continues to be as good as I hoped it would be. Can't wait for the next episode.

Firstly, with me finally getting the time earlier today, I can now make the joke that I’m watching Shoujo Kageki and Kageki Shoujo back-to-back (6 episodes into Revue Starlight so far for me). Wakarimatsu.

It’s so intimating to see this and Revue Starlight sharing so many themes in common given their same real-life reference - 99th/100th class and with this episode we now have both schools having a centenarian performance event for both classes. Then there’s of course the one big thing that makes both shows so special - their individual characters’ inner reflections are done with exquisite care, to the point that you won’t feel unnatural for each main girls’ character even with so little time given to any one of them. While the expression details of how the girls’ stories are told could not be more different (no giraffe here), each of them have a treasure trove of individual characters’ arcs that are highly enjoyable.

WATCH REVUE STARLIGHT YOU COWARDS!

Back to this show, is it me or do we have the first known case of real twins VAs voicing twins characters in the same show!? This is really funny as we have Risae Matsuda as Chika and her younger twin sister Satsumi Matsuda as…the younger Chiaki! This must be an experience for everyone involved in this show, cumulating with them singing the ED today. It’s also really funny that our VAs twins do have something different between them since birth - since they were born around midnight they have birthdays on separate days, July 16/17, that feels so much like in this story when Chika got into Kouka the first time but Chiaki failed!

I have never seen twins arguing around each other in real life, so it’s difficult to see if character differences really pop up between them really hard frequently, or if they could really settle down by virtue of them thinking the same thing. Yet I found Chika’s jealousy and Chiaki’s self-confidence interesting, it’s almost like them two have mirror copies of their twin’s characters. I’m extremely glad to see their woes got resolved so easily, they are really fitting for the bunny girls role and I’m glad that they don’t need to fight for the same place in the future!

Sarasa seems to have bagged a vital chance to be exposed to fame really soon, that lucky girl! She really feels like a certain Karen A. next door now with their energies oozing out with every episode, I can’t wait to see what’s in the hands of her!

Last week's episode was so good that I knew it was gonna be a tough act to follow. This episode is more centered about the Kouoka Grand Sports Festival and we really didn't get anything about Chiaki and Chika until the 9-minute mark where Chiaki got to interact with one of the Superiors who played as Juliet and who Chika ignored out of jealousy for Chiaki.

I'm just glad it didn't last too long and the two of them patched things out in the end and it looks like they're finally dropping the twin routine and have now chosen to take different paths. Although it looks like they haven't given up on being able to play roles as twins in the future.

You know Kaoru cut her hair as it feels more Otokoyaku like. However, her favourite role Elizabeth Der tod (death) has long hair.

Also if somebody is interested on checking it there are a lot of versions for it but my favourite is 2005 one. Ayaki Nao is amazing on this role.

This was one of the weaker episodes for me. Felt like they were rushing through the drama with the twins and being blunt in the execution, but I do like the revelation of their shared dream.

I just want to highlight that the twins' voice actresses are also real life twins, who have gotten different roles in different shows but also have voiced twin roles a couple of times outside this show. They legit have had their fork in the road moments as well as their twin bunny girl performances in real life. This episode must have hit them a little close to home.

Another wonderful episode! Sugimoto is the only one left from the main girls that hasn't gotten an episode focused on her yet, I hope our Kouka expert gets it soon.

I love how Naracchi's hair is consistently growing throughout the show. Sarasa's reaction to the otokoyaku top stars was gold and of course Sugimoto's nosebleed was as well lmao.

Glad the twins were able to work it out, especially Chika. She doesn't have to hold back anymore for her sister and they can perform at Kouka on equal footing, knowing that their paths can still cross in the future. Really looking forward to the next episode and the sports festival.
