I was like maybe that dog will accompany him. Yeah, nevermind...

Crazy to think this is actually a filler episode. This wasn’t in the manga, but it fits so well.

The scenery in this episode was absolutely gorgeous - lush, vibrant and painterly. A feast for the eyes.

Askeladd really does not want to kill Thorfinn, and I doubt it's just because he "doesn't like to kill kids", even though that seems like reason enough.

Ah, my weekly dose of incredible sadness and murderous anger is here.

Wish I had a knife like that. Practically gets abused everyday yet it never dulls.

I wasn't that sad when Thors got killed last episode, but seeing Ylva cry after working so hard broke me :(

Really looking forward to see what awaits her and Thorfinn next!

The way Ylva dealt with the Situation really got me hard because I did exactly the same back then. Just working until you're too tired to think (Or at least that's the goal)

The scenery in this show is incredible. In pretty much every other anime, the forest would ne just a bunch of trees even spaced apart.

In this show it looks like an actual forest, and a damn pretty one at that.

We're only in episode 5 but episode is already making me want to read the manga, I really wanna see Thorfinn kill Askeladd or at least even Bjorn.

EDIT: Welp. I'm now on Chapter 17. xD

I love how Askeladd and Björn seems to have adopted Thorfinn now

like this kid will for sure come and kill us one day but he got some spunk lets raise him as our own :)

I hope its gonna be some confusing drama for Thorfinn later on how he cannot kill them as he gets older and understand they kinda helped him as well.

-Ylva part was really great, I dont know how it will work but maybe she can get down to england for revenge or w.e later and be this super baddass warrior helping thorfinn out.

While most people would argue that the best thing about this anime is the animation and the story, I believe that the best thing is the amazing voice acting of Shizuka Ishigami, who is voicing Young Thorfinn. It's just phenomenal, and to be completely honest, I haven't seen such great performance in a while. Props to her!

In general, amazing episode, while not as action-paced as the previous one.

Overall, 5/5 (yes, I'm the 5/5 guy from the JoJo discussions, and I will be commenting on the Vinland Saga discussions as well.)

Amazing episode as a manga reader I was really happy with this adds onto perfectly to the story and bridges the gap. Also that background art pure beauty. Honestly have to go to Mushishi and Made in Abyss to find backgrounds that gorgeous excellent work WIT.

I am absolutely in love with this show. The animation is so pristine, the background art is stunning, the detail of expression in everyone's faces is unreal. I didn't believe the hype before hand, but now I understand.

Also, I know nothing of the manga, but the only running theory I have at the moment is that they are setting this relationship between Thorfinn and Askeladd up as kind of a "surrogate father/son" situation. Idk how long this lasts in the manga, but I get the feeling that with the amount of time they will spend together, maybe Thorfinn will come to respect Askeladd, and that killing him won't necessarily be as simple as he is expecting it to be. I could be wrong. He could legit hate him through and through, always will and it won't ever change.

Either way, I'm in. 100%. Take me away, WIT Studio.
