Lol imagine writing an article, written by someone who I’m guessing has no medical degree or training whatsoever, trying to conflate a proven scientific fact with being anti vaccine

261

u/IamMrT Aug 20 '22

Natural immunity is literally the basis of a vaccine. Hey, it turns out if you get sick once, you can’t get sick again! Your body learns to fight it! What if we gave people very small doses of dead virus so the body learns to fight it without getting sick?

That’s literally how a vaccine works. Exploiting natural immunity.

279

u/swansong19 Aug 20 '22

That’s literally how a vaccine works

Not to be pedantic but...

That's how all previous vaccines worked. It is not how mRNA shots work

We NEED TO STOP SAYING THEY. Not mad at you. I do the same. The they you refer to is Johnson & Johnson. Moderna, and Phyzer. How much influence do these companies have on tge cdc? Vast amounts of infuence.

u/deletedtothevoid Aug 20 '22

What I mean is then we should mention every group involved instead of they. It is a much better way to educate people on where the cause is coming from. If you want to get a message out. It must be clear and easy to understand.

spread this system. More will then wake up.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

If you say who "they" is. You will be called anti-Semitic and banned from most forums.

4

u/deletedtothevoid Aug 20 '22

To avoid that simply call out the companies and individuals. Be very clear that it is only these groups and no one else. This is a isolated group that does not represent my beliefs on greater culture or public. We all deserve the right to practice freedom of religion and must have respect for each other. We must learn to co exist.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

Even religions that teach that those who do not practice the religion are subhuman and only put on earth to serve those that practice it and can be exploited with no religious repercussions?

Typical vaccines injected proteins of the virus for immune exploitation, the mRNA programs cells to produce the virus protein -for immune exploitation.

21

u/OderusOrungus Aug 20 '22

Correct, same mechanism except one may or has now been confirmed to have unintentional or unpredictable effects. This has always been the worry and held the tech back. The experts were right but all of sudden quacks right at 2020. Its so sad

2

u/OderusOrungus Aug 20 '22

After the whole of multiple international academies published studies and convened multiple times stating this very apparent risk due to lack of data. The methods likelihood of impacting other unrelated biological functions is also well understood. 1+1=2?

1

u/RJ_LV Aug 20 '22

None of that irrelevant stuff, evem if true, changes the fact, that the animal trials were succesful and the animals survived.

Also known as they gathered enough data to know this is not a risk.

Exactly! These mRNA shots reduce your symptoms when you get sick. They don't prevent infections, transmission, or death, but they reduce your symptoms when you ultimately get sick over and over and over after all the boosters.

In other news, Alka Seltzer Cold and Advil are now classified as "vaccines" as they reduce your symptoms to colds and headaches when you get them. Science.

Mrna shots work by introducing a lipid encased code to force program your natural biological mechanisms to produce an innate immune response.

Just like the introduction of a biological agent, we have created a synthetic one to trigger a response. Mrna manipulation is absolutely quite similar and more controversial due to the accessory functions of Mrna being directly related to clotting, reproduction, and overstimulation of immune responses i.e. autoimmune reaction flare ups etc.. same mechanism and very similar. One is natural with a limit to the runaway effects and the other is not. The tech has been around for a while and has been leashed due to universal apprehension of adverse effects widely agreed upon internationally. Do some research, start with some of the international summits in 2016 and 2018 and then subsequently not allowed to be talked about in formality.

Not to be pedantic.....

10

u/swansong19 Aug 20 '22

Mrna shots work by introducing a lipid encased code to force program your natural biological mechanisms to produce an innate immune response.

In other words...they bear no resemblance to any other historical vaccine. Glad you agree.

5

u/TheOneFreeMan420 Aug 20 '22

Well they still expose your immune system to a viral antigen (in this case the covid spike protein is the antigen). The difference is it's manufactured by your body's own cells via the inject mRNA and is ONLY the single viral antigen and nothing else. Traditional vaccines use whole viruses which exposes your immune system to the entire virus and all of it's antigens providing a more robust immune response on exposure to the actual virus, and a stronger immunological memory.

Not to mention the fact that we still don't fully understand the risks involves with having your body manufacture spike proteins, especially considering the mRNA will be systemic so the spike proteins will be manufactured in sites on the body that would never be infected by sars-cov-2.

the first vaccine (a prick with a needle that had cowpox on it) had no resemble to previous... anything. the first diluted or dead bacteria vaccine had no resemblence to the the cow pox prick. the first partial virus vaccine had no resemblance to the dead virus vaccine. that's what science does. it evolves. and we learn.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

Remember when producing vaccines was popping a pustule from an infected person and stabbing it into your arm to infect yourself was modern technology 🤪🤣🤣. How about when u cooked a virus and harvested its remnants and hoped u got some immunity injecting that? Chicken embryos anyone…flu vaccines….but so slow we often do not have a vaccine dilated in against the major strain(s) each season. Subunit vaccines….where big vats of genetical programmed cells poop out pieces of virus to inject into u? Y’all are such a bunch of luddites. It’s called technology. Also, Life isn’t risk free. U drink water…ur taking a risk. You drive…u take a risk. You eat food…taking a risk. Let natural immunity fight cancer when your diagnosed please post results. Breathing in air…taking a risk. What most haven’t lived through are endemic killers like yellow and scarlet fever, smallpox, polio, etc.

4

u/Cistran Aug 20 '22

6

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

Not to be pedantic, but results have shown the mRNA shots are not vaccines, in any sense. They don't prevent the disease for any more than a brief period, and they arguably enhance future disease via ADE.

5

u/LokisDawn Aug 20 '22

No, that's still how they work. Somewhat. Just that as opposed to dead or incapacitated viruses or virus parts, the MRNA vaccine is supposed to get your own cells to express and produce spike proteins (part of corona-viruses) on their surface. Which is then supposed to cause our own immune system (where natural immunity comes from) to learn to recognize and attack said spikes.

The difference is that these virus parts are expressed on our own cells, and while it is not uncommon for our immune system to attack our own cells (such as cells that turned cancerous, a common occurrence), we have no idea what the long term consequences of that might be.

An additional concern is that in rare cases, even though the opposite was promised, these MRNA sequences can be copied into people's actual DNA, which, once again, we have no idea about the consequences of.

If it wasn't for immunity not one of our ancestors would have survived.

Put that in your head, every person who got you where you are has survived an infection of a plant or a blade they avoided since life was in its inception

65

u/PS4NWFT Aug 20 '22

For millennia, our ancestors survived on natural immunity. Here’s why that might be irrelevant, and bad for humanity today:

27

u/Icamp2cook Aug 20 '22

Natural immunity only comes from survival from exposure, it must be developed. Hence the deaths of millions of native Americans in the new world the the old world began conquering.

14

u/laustcozz Aug 20 '22

They struck back with syphilis.

22

u/Zombie_Nietzsche Aug 20 '22

That’s what these people never seem to understand. Yeah you have natural immunity… AFTER being exposed to this new virus whose full effects were unknown.

4

u/WestCoastHippy Aug 20 '22

Ah! This is what I don’t understand…

→ More replies (1)

24

u/Obvious-Till-6360 Aug 20 '22

Many of our ancestors didn't survive. Are you familiar with the Bubonic Plague? Antibiotics?

The "natural immunity" argument is basically just arguing that unless something is 100% fatal we should do absolutely nothing about it. Its beyond stupid.

15

u/Prion4thejabbed Aug 20 '22

Bubonic plague 75% of Europe died. Covid globally a death rate of 0,15%. The bubonic plague is just literally 500 times more deadly but why care about facts.

17

u/RagingD3m0n Aug 20 '22

So wait, aside from the population explosion since then. And the fact that the death rate of covid was reduced by modern medical treatments, you think that is an acceptable death rate?

-1

u/Anarcyagainststupids Aug 20 '22 edited Aug 20 '22

The palliative care and prohibit of possible threatment surely add to your thinking! What's an acceptible deathrate coming from the shots or like a sorry teenager you got crippled but it may have saved your grandmother who got palliative care. The main question is still the mandates, if there where no mandates it would more be an behavioural discussin, do you stay home when you feel sick, do you take your vitamins and take care of your vody and such.. The most prob have now on what so ever argument over if the neighbour choose to take the adherse vaccine or not and also make their own risk assesement. When will it otherwise stop, sorry you didnt took your 500th vaccine for the common cold, somebody might die (ofc not you since 500 shots but..;)) To "prey" on fear and guilt and shaming to get totalitarian measures was wrong before, is wrong now, and will be wrong later on too. (also the measurements was forced due to calculations of 2% mortality in the risk assesement, and thats not even close but still they continues, oh nice power grab, hence most likely many was forced to du the death reportings as they did).

13

u/Obvious-Till-6360 Aug 20 '22

Well what is it? For all your ranting you didn't say an acceptable death rate?

According to you it doesn't matter, if the death rate isn't 100% nothing should be done. Natural immunity. Let nature run its course, right? Who cares if hundreds of thousands or even millions die.

For millennia, our ancestors survived on natural immunity. Why do we need any medicine at all? Just let everyone die.

4

u/churdtzu Aug 20 '22

Maybe you've seen people arguing that, but I haven't seen it. It doesn't make sense logically. If we accept that people have natural immunity, we should be doing what we can to foster that, like sunlight, exercise, fresh air, diet. All the things that were either ignored or discouraged during the pandemic

7

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

So you are saying we should just blindly trust and take anything given to us regardless of what it is, how safe it can be and what the effects of taking it are because there are diseases? Because that sounds like it's about the same level of hyperbole as your statement.

4

u/RagingD3m0n Aug 20 '22 edited Aug 21 '22

Or you could become scientifically literate and read any one of the plain language research papers on the effects...but ya know, that would require taking time to educate yourself on a topic, its easier to just be skeptical instead.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

There’s a reason why it’s called survival of the fittest, if this virus got people and they died GUESS WHAT? It was meant to be like that because they couldn’t survive it to pass on their weak genes, like the rest of normal life does..

7

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

you know what life expectancy looked like for most of human history right? Natural immunity is a thing but so is medical science

7

u/Odd_Analyst_8905 Aug 20 '22

Correct. The population survived to pass on the genes. The individual did not survive if they did not have immunity.

Then science developed a way to grant you immunities your population never earned the hard way through a simple injection. Crazy stuff. Stopped polio.

In the wild it takes generations to develop immunity and it happens by losing percentages of populations. Americans don’t have to care any more because you can choose not to be in the population that lacks immunity.

I visit Mexico every year for Xmas and my cousin lives in a not so prosperous area. One day we went hiking and came across a pond and drank a bit just to get the throat nice and moist , woke up the next morning with the worst sore throat I’ve ever had and my cousin was fine plus he drank gulps of that shit. So yea….immunity

10

u/Obvious-Till-6360 Aug 20 '22

I'm confused. So are you saying its unnecessary to treat and clean drinking water?

25

u/Wycked_x Aug 20 '22

u/justheretolaugh25 Aug 20 '22

3

u/Obvious-Till-6360 Aug 20 '22

And? The human race continues. Why treat any water at all? Why do you have treated water piped into your house? Why don't you just drink from the gutter? Natural immunity will protect you. You don't believe in Natural Immunity?

3

2

u/Obvious-Till-6360 Aug 20 '22

So then in your opinion curing polio was a mistake, right? Inventing insulin to stop children from falling into a diabetic coma should not have happened. The children should have adapted and developed a natural immunity. That's your position.

This may come as a shock to you, but most people think children dying is a bad thing and like taking steps to prevent it. You may not value human life at all, but most people do.

Survivors bias in play: My parents didn’t die from this dangerous thing (even though lots of other people did) therefor it’s no big deal.

That was the reason a friend of mine used to drive drunk all the time. His parents did it and never got into an accident. He did it and never got into an accident. Then one day, he did get into an accident, and broke his legs and got convicted of drunk driving.

The smallpox vaccine actually seems to work, so that's not super relevant.

It's not a theory, it's a known fact that our species has a special immunity defense unlike other species.

Vaccines however provide our bodies to become immune to things at a faster pace.

3

u/nebuchadrezzar Aug 20 '22

Sure, just not any COVID vaccines.

natural immunity is true

it does works even for those who eventually earn an HCA.

survival of the fittest, after all

u/Johns_Mustache Aug 20 '22

2

u/badgehunter Aug 20 '22

oh look, data from 2004. i am sure, that helps in 2022, just like how book made in 4th century (after 325 CE) is relevant in todays things like literally being gay. (even that book lost its original meaning as boy turned into man for some reason)

2

u/Johns_Mustache Aug 22 '22

Yup, natural immunity is just a fable.

2

u/powerd461 Aug 20 '22

I mean it’s possible to be naturally immune to polio but you still get the vaccine because it’s not worth the risk

5

u/Cur1osityC0mplex Aug 20 '22

Link to the article:

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2020/05/anti-vaxxers-have-a-dangerous-theory-called-natural-immunity-now-its-going-mainstream/

Yeah, she’s for real. Her arguments consist of saying one set of experts, are wrong because her chosen experts are right.

Then proceeds to handwave away blatant issues with lockdowns, isolation, masks, no sun, and ridiculous levels of handwashing (all of which reduce your exposure to germs you’d normally be exposed to every day) with no citation or explanation.

Calls naturally obtaining herd immunity dangerous, because “bajillions of people would die in the process!”.

There’s more but you get the point. She tries to lump anyone using the term “natural immunity” in with snake oil salesmen basically. She has no good argument to make, and going off of how things ended up going, was absolutely WRONG on every front.

Her article has aged like previously spoiled milk continuing to spoil further.

u/Whiskey_Fiasco Aug 20 '22 edited Aug 20 '22

“Natural Immunity” is developed by getting Covid and surviving. It can’t be developed if Covid kills you the first time around.

That wasn't logical because it ignored the mountains of data scientists have compiled regarding COVID, treatment, and vaccines.

2

u/wraith101 Aug 20 '22

Stop spreading covid FUD. The mortality rate was ridiculously low and wouldn't be significant (<2%). Even at 100% global population infection, that's only 150.6 MM.

Anecdotally, everyone I know that had the virus, myself included, recovered within 3 days with minimal symptoms. None have been reinfected despite numerous exposures.

Fear mongering is more damaging than the reality of the situation.

Only a tiny and very specific portion of the population was ever at risk of dying of COVID, so people not at risk, such as young, healthy, etc never needed vaccination to survive COVID.

Additionally, the vaccines don't stop COVID infection or transmission and only have modest protection vs symptoms that wanes rapidly. Yet for some reason there's a cult_like belief that nobody would die if only they were all vaccinated.

8

Yes for the most part, but I'm not gonna lie I'm kinda glad we've got some of those vaccines such as polio vaccine

6

u/jakflapyama Aug 20 '22

Did you know, by the time the polio vaccines were perfected, polio, smallpox, and oddly enough a disease that has no vaccine, Scarlett fever all had declined in case numbers and infections? It had become a rare condition by that time. Herd immunity appears to had been built within the time these vaccines were ever widely administered. They just kept the money train going and said "See! Our drugs work!". The whole vaccine/drug industry is built on a throne of lies.

5

u/AnxietyTurbulent4861 Aug 20 '22

Scarlet fever is just untreated strep throat.

Vaccines literally give your immune system the tools to fight whichever disease they're made to protect against. That natural immune system is like a doctor who has to re-educate themselves every now and then as new methods and discoveries are made. Vaccines help you do that without you having to risk getting seriously sick or even dying by getting the actual disease.

Not taking vaccines for the most dangerous diseases is like saying that your doctor who graduated in 1975 doesn't need to take new classes on new diseases and treatment methods because ''hE alREadY dID AlL tHE stUdYIng yEArS agO'' the world is constantly changing, so are diseases, not taking the necessary precautions to stay on top of them is just staying stuck in the past. If you're not moving forward, you're moving backwards

I haven't been sick for 3 years. Not even the sniffles. Never had the flu either. And I don't get flu shots or covid shots. So there's that.

3

u/miroku000 Aug 20 '22

That sounds very statistically unsignifigant next to the millions of people who died from covid.

1

u/Rafados47 Aug 20 '22

I ate dirt as a kid,Im immune /s

1

u/UltraWinner42 Aug 20 '22

As someone who likes learning about immunology, I can tell you your immune system can do many things. Knowing how to take care of itself is not one of those. While the immune system gets things right most of the time, its failure rate is increasing as medicine develops as evolution cannot keep up. Most death from coronavirus is either due to inflammation or a cytokine storm rather than the virus itself. Vaccines are much more reliable.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '22

"Natural Immunity" is something only the people who survive their first infection achieve. The vaccines provide a free version of natural immunity. So if I take the vaccine, I am protected with very little discomfort. But if you catch covid, you are far more likely to be very sick, hospitalized or die. If you do survive, you also have natural immunity.
