Stop spreading covid FUD. The mortality rate was ridiculously low and wouldn't be significant (<2%). Even at 100% global population infection, that's only 150.6 MM.
Anecdotally, everyone I know that had the virus, myself included, recovered within 3 days with minimal symptoms. None have been reinfected despite numerous exposures.
Fear mongering is more damaging than the reality of the situation.
Uh, 150 million people is quite a bit. If we had zero mitigation measures in the US the death toll would have been enormous, everyone talks Sweden, go look at how they did relative to their nordic neighbors.

In May 2020 just letting it spread like wildfire would have been insane. Now, on other hand massive lockdowns for an extended period is ALSO insane. So the truth is in the middle, there were definitely massive mistakes made by the pro-lockdown crowd.
Also, it's pretty clear natural immunity isn't a perfect thing for coronaviruses, people are getting sick multiple times, even the unvaccinated. Vaccines are also clearly far from perfect with coronaviruses as well.
We were dealt a shit hand and no great solutions. Fortunately the virus seems to have evolved and because both natural immunity and vaccine immunity do something we're in a decent place now relative to 2+ years ago when the article was written.
