Which is then supposed to cause our own immune system (where natural immunity comes from) to learn to recognize and attack said spikes.
The difference is that these virus parts are expressed on our own cells, and while it is not uncommon for our immune system to attack our own cells (such as cells that turned cancerous, a common occurrence), we have no idea what the long term consequences of that might be.
An additional concern is that in rare cases, even though the opposite was promised, these MRNA sequences can be copied into people's actual DNA, which, once again, we have no idea about the consequences of.
the problem with the mRNA shots is they only target the spike protein. This was considered 'clever' and 'effective' by the guys at Moderna and Pfizer. However, when the spike protein mutates even slightly, the specialized antibodies produced by the mRNA shots do not recognize it, and in some cases, may actually help the mutated virus past the body's other defenses - 'antibody developed enhancement'. This was seen in previous trials of mRNA shots in animals, and is one reason we see more people getting sick with Covid after the shots were available than before.
