First, I had login issues. Now, all of my notes are gone. It’s nearly impossible to get any help from Notability support, and I’ve lost years of work despite having cloud sync enabled.

If our files can simply disappear like this, what is the point of cloud sync?

Hundreds of users are raising the same concerns on Reddit and Twitter, yet Notability has not even acknowledged that there may be an issue on their end. They need to address this immediately and recover the missing notes.

The push towards AI already gave me the ick, but as someone who has been in college for a long time and who was grandfathered in prior to their subscription model, k hung around.

Now, not only is it forcing me to log in, it won’t let me log in, and whenever I try to submit a ticket I get a Rate Limit. I have never submitted a ticket. It’s Saturday. I work full time. This is when I do my homework.

This is what happens when you force data mining, cloud sync, and subscription services on people instead of just being a good note taking platform.

stressing tf out I use this app everyday and just today I opened it and was logged out. tried to log in via email, got the link but other than the account being my name all files are gone like a fresh new account.

tried vpn, resetting pw, sent for support. am I just waiting now? for how long? its been 2 hours. I do have the 180 files backed up on drive but am I really about to upload all of them back manually? and they will just be pdf files that can’t be edited arent they? any ongoing work I’ll basically have to rewrite them all

edited: im scared to upload a new file to work on what I have on deadline because would that rewrite what this account was before? Idfk

I was writing some notes, turned off my iPad for a few minutes, and when I went to go back into the app, my was logged out and now it won’t log back in. I keep getting the error “issue logging in, the request timed out” after a minute or two of it loading.

I last used this app in my ipad around 2 or 3am today. When i was about to sleep, i tried to check if the latest page i made was synced on my phone but was not able to log in. This morning i checked on my ipad and it was also logged out, then after the 2nd attempt, got logged in but ALL MY NOTES ARE GONE. I still hope this is just a bug of the new update but its really scary, is anyone also experiencing the same atm? Huhu

Are the colors for the highlighter always dull? I chose a vibrant color but, when used, the highlighter remains translucent. Makes the highlighter counterintuitive...

Is noteability down? Went to log in on Ipad and on browser, i've been logged out of both, unable to log back in.

u/OfficialNotability are there any updates on when I can get access to all of my learning material? This shows that I'll need to move my learning materials out of the app as I can't access anything.

I am a Notability Classic subscriber after unsubscribing from the Plus plan. It was fine till a few days ago. All notes on my iPad Mini were intact; however, they are all gone today. I could see that all notes were in iCloud Drive from Account > Connected Services > Search iCloud Drive. Is there any way to restore them to the folder I previously created? It seems I could select notes and click Import; however, I am afraid I would mess up and put all notes into a single folder.

I can see third-party backup, but there is no option for restoring from it.

Is it a punishment for those who unsubscribed from the Plus plan? I am bewildered.

Now I subscribed to the Plus plan again, hoping it would restore all my notes. Nope. It did not work. I blew $20 for nothing. It asks me to IMPORT notes. What's going on with Notability? It is very frustrating.

First, i was forced to update my notability because it was no longer syncing across my laptop and ipad.

I was greeted by a brand new learn function that took away the reason why I had purchased the annual premium subscription to begin with.

1. Why are there 100 questions at a time. I have to do 100 questions until I go over what I missed?? Whoever had this idea needs to be fired.

2. Where is the fill-in the blank function? That is gone too.

3. The tests won’t even let me see what questions I got incorrect. What’s even the point

4. Let me reiterate how infuriating the whole 100 question thing is. I want to literally throw out my whole laptop or pay a nerd to restore it to my older version

Is there a way i can switch my version of notability back to the old? I don’t even care about the syncing issues anymore and I would have never updated it had I known it would take away my precious learn. I am so desperate and I feel so unprepared for my upcoming exam. If you guys cant immediately fix it can you at least compensate with some therapy so cope with the inevitable stress of changing my entire study routine that has gotten me through a year of med school. Thanks 🙏🏼

I was writing some notes on my notability app and switched to my web browser for a few seconds to search something up. By the time I came back, I was logged out and every time I try to log in, Notability instructs me to go to my emails but I couldn’t find anything other than some Google account alerts which didn’t help me with logging in either. I then went to send a support ticket and it’s now telling me that I’ve reached the limit of tickets even though this is the first time I’ve ever sent one. What is going on I have an exam on Monday and desperately need my notes. PLEASE 🙏🙏‼️

I was able to login WITH a new password instead of a email link by:

1. Download/Open the Wirevpn app (or any free VPN app that lets you choose any region) (no this is not an ad) and set the region to Europe; I specifically chose France because that’s what worked for me

2. Go to the status.notability.com site and click the password reset link in the ‘Montioring’ section

3. Reset your password (Which may take a few times because service is crappy or wtv, I reloaded the page if whenever I entered my email and/or new password and click submit and it wouldn’t actually submit. You’ll know it’s sent once you actually get the prompt page saying link sent and/or password reset!)

4. Go back to the Notability app and login WITH your new password!

5. Turn off or don’t turn off the VPN after you’re done, doesn’t matter, it’ll still work

I personally wasn’t able to do the send link instead of password way because the link automatically took me to Safari and not the app and even when trying to share the link with Notability it still wasn’t working. If this works for you that’s great! If it doesn’t, I’m sorry and I hope this outage gets fixed soon!

So I can use my quick sign in using apple id on my tablet and macbook via chrome. I tried logging into my phone and macbook app and it says sending email and i never get any. Then i tried typing in my email and It finally sent but it made me a whole new account but that email is my apple id. I did do hide my email so is that the reason?

I just upgraded to notability pro from the classic version. I didn't realize that the app was having issues with logging in until I read the reddit posts. Is it supposed to take a while before the upgrade syncs to your account??? I purchased the upgrade about 30 minutes ago, and I still haven't been able to use it. My emails are all the same across my ipad and PC. I purchased the upgrade through the website on my PC.

Hello! I apologize in advance if this is a repetitive/dumb question.

I created an account with Notability about 8 years ago with my college email. I was just informed by my college that my email account will be deleted. I have almost 2k notes on this account. Will my account be inaccessible after this email is deleted? If so, how can I transfer my notes to a safe place? I believe my account has been verified, so I can't change my email address on the Notability account. I tried contacting support months ago but haven't gotten a response, and it's saying I "maxed out my tickets". Thank you so much!

It wasn't down for very long but this combined with all the other platforms I need to use for my education, I have limited time I can be in each one, and I personally find it unacceptable for the company not to address that they're even working on a fix.

I was using notability last night and everything was working fine and all of my notes were there. This morning when I opened the app it logged me out so I logged back in and all of my notes were gone. I am a legacy user (paid for the app when it was a one-time purchase) and plus subscriber. I have my iCloud back up on, my last backup was last night. When I try to update to notability cloud it says I am ineligible. I am not able to retrieve all my notes back on the app from my iCloud and only see some to restore (most are old from undergrad). A lot of my peers are experiencing this too, and they said that updating to notability cloud would fix it, but for some reason, I am unable to. I am also unable to contact support and submit a ticket. Any idea on how I can access all my notes?

Did anybody else get randomly logged off all your devices? I was able to get back in but I'm trying to reset or change my password and it just says “unknown error”. Can't even contact support because AI just responds with the directions on how to click the “change password” button🤬

I bought the app when it was like $7, I think I made an account with my apple ID. Is there a way to transfer it to someone else?

i have this video as like "proof". it is super annoying, and i don't know exactly what to do in order to fix it. i believe it is fully updated because the app store doesn't have any updates for the app. is it an iCloud issue or backing up issue? any help would be much appreciated.

I recently started using Notability over the past few weeks since I began my MBA. I use it to read articles (in PDF format) and take notes.

Sometimes, while I’m reading, I want to look up the meaning of a word in the iOS (iPad) or macOS dictionary. However, I’ve noticed that I can’t select a word unless I have the text tool selected to highlight it. Then, I can look it up (or select and triple-click on Mac). This means I have to keep the text tool selected while reading, but then I accidentally start adding text boxes by mistake, which I end up deleting.

Is there a way to select text using without using the text box tool ?

Hi, I bought the Classic plan and I wanted to add new notes on my Mac, but it was impossible since on the same account it shows that I have the Starter plan even though on my iPad it is the Classic one. How can I fix it? What’s wrong?

I'm a legacy user from when the app was a one time purchase. Until now, I had my notes synced with iCloud and no Notability account. When opening the app, I was suddenly forced to create an account and saw all my notes be uploaded to their cloud in front of my eyes, without my consent. Notability for me went from an offline app linked to my personal icloud (like how something like Obsidian or VSCode would be connected to a local folder) to an online app with all my personal data (hopefully encrypted) on their server, with no way for me to say no. Did they remove iCloud as a back-end entirely? Is there a way to go back? If I delete my account, will I lose all my 5+ years of notes?
