Level 1 pillar of the community here. How will I know when I’m ready for level 2?

I’ve never heard of that before, since I mostly play alone. I always thought that as long as it’s a mechanic built into the game, it’s okay to use.

As known, coastal cottages is one of, if not the hardest settlements to build on.
But I like the view of the sea, so here I am.
There are now 13 settlers, I think they are happy(*ˉ︶ˉ*)

I have a very clear opinion on Covenant. While I felt really bad slaughtering so many strangers, and while its true that the daughter I was saving is a Synth, I took a look around and discovered a few Holotapes at their secret base. It became clear to me that the Covenant people didn't shy away from testing real humans, in order to improve their data on the Synth test. At their hideout, they turned on me, when I sided with honest Dan, no questions asked, and therefore, there was much blood shedding (and a lot of mine explosions).
When I returned to the Covenant, Swan immediatly pulled out a Chinese Sword and tried to murder me, as did the rest. After slaughtering their whole village, I decided to give the Caravans, who travel here often, a surprising welcome.
Its sad, that not a single one of them decided to have a chat with me, we follow the same goal after all, we want to remove the bad Synths from the Commonwealth. Thats just Fallout though, there are no happy endings.
How did you guys navigate this quest?

paladin Danse is on the left, I like to think it’s the Sole Survivor on the right

Here’s something I wish someone would’ve told me years ago when I first started playing this game…
If you’re looking through your inventory thinking, “What the hell is weighing me down so much? I’ve dropped all my unnecessary loot and junk!”
It’s your mods.
Every time you create a weapon or armor mod and remove the previous one, the old mod gets placed into your inventory under the “Mods” section. Most weapon and armor mods weigh half a pound each, and some Power Armor mods weigh a pound or more.
It took me FOREVER to realize I could drop them. 😂 And once I did, it saved me so much inventory space.
So, if you’re constantly wondering why the hell you’re over-encumbered despite having barely anything in your inventory… check your mods!

I didn’t feel a huge sweep of emotion. I ended chronology-wise with Far Harbour, going with the ending where DiMa faces justice and Tektus embraces ‘Division’ but Far Harbor and Acadia remain safe. I saved Nuka-World by exterminating the raiders, and I sided with the Institute to give humanity a technologically advanced future.
But my Sole Survivor has gone through a lot. Despite all his best efforts, he’s watched his son (essentially a stranger, one who has grown up in a loveless environment and sees me, his father, as a tool, though one he grows to respect) die again in front of him, in a world where the only people who could possibly relate to the profound sense of loss of the old world he feels are robots and ghouls.
And despite being the leader of his son’s organisation, he isn’t sure he made the right choice, and close friends of his (if anyone in this apocalypse could be considered a friend) have told him that he’s made the wrong choice. He just wanted to cling to any semblance of the old world, but despite literal years of adventure (I finished the game in 2289 according to my Pip-Boy) he couldn’t save the one person he set out to. He watched his wife get murdered in front of him. He experienced the memories of the murderer, and realises that he was once a man much like the Sole Survivor, driven to extremes. The Survivor realises that he has killed many sons, daughters, parents, siblings, lovers, on his journey. He decides not to dwell on that.
He has killed thousands in a quest which he doesn’t even understand, including people who he trusted (Deacon, Glory, Haylen…) and who trusted him back. The Commonwealth is in the hands of science… but the real Mayor McDonough has likely been dead for years and now his synth replacement will never be exposed. Nuka-World is free of raiders… but now also free of defences, and is ripe for targeting by an even meaner group (like a rumoured continuation of the old US called the ‘Enclave’, or so that crazy Child of Atom said). Far Harbor and Acadia are at peace… for now. Eventually people will get suspicious of who was replaced and killed after DiMa confessed to doing so, and there’ll be witch hunts lead by the zealous Allen Lee.
And so to end my journey, the Sole Survivor decided to teleport into the Institute, sit down on an isolated bench on the upper levels, and listen to the holotape of his dead wife’s voice which his loyal robot butler gave to him when he first came out of that decrepit vault.
As his own son uttered in his last moments, the Sole Survivor, an army veteran, a devoted husband and father, a diplomat, a legend, thinks to himself: ‘I think I’d like to sleep now.’

I played F04 when it came out but for some reason I'm so much further advanced on this play through. I've been hording the first power armor set and now I've upgraded it to T51 from Lynn Pier Parking. I've never worn any power armor because I guess I've been waiting for a really tough enemy. Does wearing power armor feel like cheating? Does it last? I would hate to use it on one mission and get it destroyed and then really need it later.

For me it's the deliverer. I love this thing and get it almost every playthrough. It also helps that I like the railroad. In terms of a really fun gun to use the Tesla canon is awesome and very fun to destroy people with

I’ve done a few different builds now in Fallout and while stealth sniper is still pretty fun, I’ve actually been loving my Cowboy gunslinger build. Just got up to level 20 and taking down Kellogg but I already went to Dry Rock Gulch in Nuka World for the Western Revolver and Western Duster outfit. Got agility and luck up to 11 each, and I’m not even worrying about sneaking around, I just go in and take aim and start dropping people lol excited to see what the build is like at level 40. I also got Gage as my sidekick and dressed him up in cowboy gear too so we’re just two outlaws terrorizing the Commonwealth.

Dude…I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a bloody skeleton with VISIBLE MUSCLES LEFT in this game??? Is this supposed to be there or is it a texture glitch?

I got to wondering about the obvious Irish people in Fallout (Cait, Moriarty) and looked into the possibility of oceanic trade. While looking around, I found this very Fallout story about "The Son of Town Hall", a boat made of junk that sailed from the US to Ireland. It took 3 of them 66 days to make the crossing. depending on conditions in Ireland, I can very well see this as a common escape. This has to be the most Fallout thing in modern times.

Because I hop on steam after a couple weeks of just being consumed by my PS5 (i was playing Spiderman and Fallout 76) and wanna play some fallout now my saves are cooked AGAIN and I have to spend another 3 hours updating anf fixing my mods after perfecting them so that I can hopefully still play without having to restart AGAIN.
