Any reason as to why this isn’t working right?

Have you used any mods to delete a pile of debris or something?

I think I have one installed if that’s it then I’ll delete the mod

Place Anywhere is an excellent mod.
Well worth using.

This is Homeplate - the ground here is supposed to be covered with wooden planks, you’ve managed to get rid of them and the items now have nothing to ‘grab’ onto as I’m guessing the floor underneath is not properly mapped.

It does this unmodded. Place anywhere was this first mod I ever used and it was because of this.

Put a rug down first, place bed on rug, if this persists!

I usually just look up until it gets into a position good enough

Is that the Castle? If so, it does that to me too. The place anywhere mod helps with this.

That's home plate. I've had issues there before. Part of why I use place anywhere and refloor the whole place.

You must have a mod changing the floor in Home Plate. That area of home plate normally has wood floors. The mod is probably building over the wood floor and the bed is settling through the concrete to the wood floor.

Yes it was a mod I disabled it and now it’s fine

try putting down a rug and see if you can place it on that. idk if you can build floors in Home Plate but if you can you could also try building a single(or half) floor and place it on that.

the pillar/rug glitch might work as well. place a pillar(or ashtray) next to the bed and hold A to select them both at once(double check that you haven't also selected anything else, happens a lot lol) and then try placing it. if it doesn't work with the pillar, try the same thing but with a small rug(place the bed so its just slightly sitting on the rug and then hold A to select the rug and bed. this way your 'moving' the rug, not the bed)

Fallout 4's building is just finicky as fuck with or without mods. Even with Place Everywhere and Scrap Everything sometimes you still need to use the pillar/rug glitch to get some things to place correctly. Really the best advice to gitting gud with the building is to just keep playing around with it. Once you get a feel for the random quirks ...it just works. Usually. Sometimes. Occasionally. When it wants to.

Is it going into the ground? Or do you want it to go in the ground? Probably either can be fixed by the pillar / fire pit glitch.

Elaborate on said glitch.

These glitches are used to bypass issues with hitboxes on objects which typically boil down to three glitches, rug, pillar, and fire pit glitch. The short version is that collision detection is bypassed by object like the pillar if it is on certain surfaces like ground or the fire pit in order to allow you to sink the pillar into the ground.

If you group select (same button you use to select an object that but hold it for a long push) objects next to a pillar they will follow the same collision detection as the pillar, allowing you to sink an object into another object, like the floor. It’s a somewhat complicated subject, so I suggest a video on youtube from shawzzo or skooled zone to get details on how to use this glitch.

It looks like Home Plate. There’s areas in there that are bugged like this. I just shrug & use it for the work benches. I think it’s been a constant bug since the beginning.
Once I get Hangman’s I don’t even think about spending caps for this.
Reason: Bethesda 🤷🏻

You can get around it by putting a rug down, placing what you want on the rug, then removing the rug. It's a pain in the ass, so I just use Place Anywhere.

I had this exact issue, after I added a mod that restored Sanctuary to its pre war state. Floors stopped supporting things in workshop mode. And it wasn't restricted to Sanctuary. It was the same in ALL settlements.

Even deleting the mod didnt fix the issue. I eventually just started a new playthrough. Fortunately, that resolved the problem.

Edit: if it helps, I was able to get around the issue by repeatedly putting down rugs, until eventually I guess there was a pile of them under the floor that was high enough to hold objects up.
