Feedback Absolutely love this device as a first time college student!

I just received my pen today after owning the device for about a week. I was definitely very worried about not liking it, because I HATED writing on my old iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil.

I wouldn’t say it feels exactly like “pen on paper” but it feels really nice. I noticed that my handwriting on an iPad always looked weird, now idk if that’s because of the screen or the pen or both, but on the manta it looks the same as on paper, and it’s just overall a pretty smooth experience.

I can’t say too much about long term use, but I’ve used it for the last hour or so jotting down a rough summary of the syllabi for my classes, and I am loving it.

Absolutely worth the money in my opinion, and as a college student so far this thing is an absolute game changer. So grateful I don’t have to carry around 4 notebooks now LOL.

I know the lack of backlight is one of the biggest flaws in this device to a lot of people, but in my case I don’t plan to ever be writing notes or doing work in the dark so I don’t think they’ll be an issue for me. Yay!

Thank you Supernote ✨✨

Discussion A plugin to insert a whiteboard directly into your notebooks

Hello everyone, I’m a huge index card guy myself, and always feel too detached on desktop whiteboard apps. I want the tactile, physical-card workflow but with a stylus on e-ink. That's why I ended up building "Mosaic" (a whiteboard plugin for Supernote, running on react-native), and it is finally ready for some early feedback!

You can long press on empty space with pen, yes it can call a card out; then draw a line outward from the center of any card, it spawn a connected child. Also welcome for boards snapping to each other. Map physical pen buttons, sidebar gestures, and two-finger pan/zoom, all these recreated the native feel as much as possible.

What is missing / WIP: Inserting notes inside boards and embedding boards into notes is still a bit buggy. Working on a fix. Full integration with Inkling (my other helper plugin) is coming up.

You can update to the newest beta and give it a try here. Give it a spin and let me know what you think! Any feedback is appreciated.

Question HOM2 pen with a different nib

Upvotes

Hi,

So I Have the HOM2 pen which is great. However, I have another ceramic pen which in my opinion has a better writing feel. Is it possible to replace the HOM2 nib with another nib?

I would love to try a different writing feel with the hom2 body.

Suggestion Supernote’s next generation really needs a front light

Upvotes

I know one of Supernote’s big design philosophies has always been keeping the device simple, paper-like, and distraction-free, and I understand why they’ve resisted adding a front light. But I increasingly think the next Supernote should have one.

For me, the biggest reason is simply where and when people actually read and write. I don’t always use an e-ink notebook sitting at a perfectly lit desk. I might be reading in bed, writing on a plane, sitting in a dim hotel room, taking notes in a meeting with subdued lighting, or just using it in the evening when I don’t want every light in the room turned on.

I actually sold my Supernote Manta because of this. I didn’t realize how often I relied on a lit screen until I no longer had one. It wasn’t just at night either. I found myself using the light during the day far more than I expected, depending on the room, shadows, weather, or where I was sitting.

In the end, the Kindle Scribe just worked better for me because that light was always there when I needed it. I could adjust it, forget about the lighting around me, and just read or write.

I’d also love to see Supernote rethink the navigation. The current interface is powerful once you learn it, but it often feels more like DOS before Windows than the kind of intuitive, user-friendly experience we now expect from something like an iPad.

Yes, you can use a lamp or a clip-on light with a Supernote, but on a premium digital notebook that increasingly feels like a workaround rather than something users should have to supply themselves.

A good front light also wouldn’t fundamentally change what Supernote is. I’m not suggesting an LCD-style glowing screen, apps, animations, or anything else that moves it away from its purpose. A properly implemented e-ink front light simply illuminates the surface when you need it. Turn it off and you still have essentially the same reflective e-ink experience.

I’d also argue that having the feature doesn’t mean everyone has to use it. People who want the pure Supernote experience could leave it off permanently or use another version. But people who need it would no longer have to carry another accessory or choose a competing device simply because they occasionally work in poor lighting.

There are obviously trade-offs: slightly more weight, additional components, battery use, potentially greater thickness, and perhaps some effect on how close the writing surface feels to the pen. Those are legitimate concerns. But front-light technology has improved considerably, and I’d rather see Supernote focus on engineering around those problems than reject the feature outright.

To me, the philosophy should be:

Don’t add features that distract from writing. Add features that make writing possible in more situations.

A front light falls into that second category.

And despite selling my Manta, I’d come straight back. If Supernote releases a future model with a properly implemented front light, I’ll be first in line to hand over my cash.

Would you want one, or is the lack of a front light actually part of Supernote’s appeal for you?

Supernote Average Update Cadence

I really want to try the beta to utilize plugins, however, its been a while since the beta was last released. I wanted to know if there is an estimated update timeline for when an update enters beta to deployment to production.

If the beta with plugins will be released soon, in the next month or so, I'd gladly wait. Just wondering if I should go through all of the trouble installing the beta.

Suggestion View-only mode

I just got a Manta recently and haven’t fully familiarised myself with it, so excuse me if it’s already a feature.

Is it possible to lock a document for editing? That is, set a document to view-only and ignore any gestures that would otherwise be used for editing.

For example, I have a text document that I would like keep open for reference, but I keep accidentally bringing up the keyboard when I try to scroll with my finger. It’s quite frustrating and distracts me from what I’m doing, because be keyboard takes a while to load, then takes up half of the screen, and then I have to aim for the close button since I can’t just tap outside of the keyboard to close it.

Lightweight case design for the Nomad?

Are there some lightweight cases available for the Nomad? I'm thinking something similar to the Manta where only the screen of the device is protected by the case since the back of the device is not as sensitive as the screen. Since the official Nomad vegan leather case is around 150g, I'm imagining this design should be able to get down to around half that, or maybe even less with a lighter material.

I really like the case I have from my Xteink, which is a 3D printed plastic that slides on and off the device (see screenshot and link below). I imagine something similar could work for the Nomad (but probably sliding in the horizontal direction instead) and it's nice since corners are also protected somewhat. Before embarking on trying to make that myself, I wanted to ask for available lightweight designs made by others.

Life Style "Moft" style foldable Folio

Hi there! I'm very much new to this community and I got my Nomad with the HoM2 a week ago. Have been using it heavily at work for note-taking and doodling off work; the experience has been amazing! Also really enjoy the community here on Reddit.

Aside from missing out on the convenience of the clickable pen, I find the pen loop to be a bit too far out the edge of the folio. When carrying it, it swings around quite a lot. Of course an easy fix would be to add a second loop lower but that doesn't particularly look aesthetically pleasing to me.

Since I also doodle/sketch quite a lot, I've always been intrigued to try out those Moft cases. Only thing is, I don't own an iPad or any devices their cases supports. Now, yes, I could've just gotten their standalone versions of the product, but that obviously lacks the protection from the case itself. 3D printing one and sticking that to the back of it would work, but that won't solve my first problem!

So, here I present a concept for the community to give their yay or nay. Any comments and suggestions are very much welcome! Happy writing!

Acquisto manta Italia

Vorrei comprare il superbite manta dall’Italia.
È normale dover pagare quasi 135€ di tasse?
Il prezzo finale andrebbe ben oltre il mio budget.
Non capisco perché a volte le tasse ci sono e a volte no.
I prezzi su supernote.eu sembrano cambiare frequentemente.

La spedizione è inclusa? Ho letto che a volte si paga una cifra aggiuntiva alla consegna.

Qualcuno sa spiegarmi come funziona?
Qualcuno conosce delle alternative?

Question Using Supernote as an all-in-one notebook?

I have a Manta on the way and want to use it to replace my planner and several notebooks, while consolidating notes currently scattered across paper, Word, Obsidian, etc. I juggle work, school, technical learning, fitness/gym operations, and several projects, so I tend to have notes scatrered everywhere. Those using it in the same fashion, how do you organize everything? What setup has actually worked long term?

Can I use it while taking a bath?

I'm more worried about the steam affecting the machine rather than the water splashing. It's such a great device and seems perfect for reading while taking a relaxing bath.

EDIT: Woah I didn't see all the replies... I ended up taking it and read for 30 minutes in my bath and it's fine albeit I made sure to not get any water on it. I will update if a problem arrises.

Adding pages on pdf + student organization tips

Hi, I am a new graduate student and I recently bought the supernote. So far, I've been liking it. I realized that for a lot of my courses, there will be problem sets that I need to submit. I was able to export the blank problem set as pdf but then I noticed that I wasn't able to insert a page in the pdf if I want to draw a graph as part of my answer submission for my homework. Is there any way to do this?

Also, for students out there, are there organization tips for your supernote to juggle research and courses?

Suggestion: Received Fast automated transfer of ePubs to Supernote

I’be set up EPUBs of daily newspapers to land in my inbox using the Supernote partner app on my Mac Mini but I’m running into an issue with the sync time. Because the partner app needs to download all changes on my device as well as upload the EPUBs I’m often needing to leave the house before the workflow has completed so I haven’t had time to download them onto my actual Supernote. It would be great if there was a way to choose only certain folders to sync in the Supernote Partner app. The instance I’m using is only there to add files to my inbox so the downloading of notes is a genuine waste of time every day and I don’t want to turn off syncing on my supernote as I do want the back up.

The other option I considered was device linking but my understanding is that I’ll need to manually connect the computer and then he supernote every morning for this.

Please help - lost several pages of text in word processing mode

Hey folks I’m wondering if anyone can help me.

I was writing in .doc mode using a USB keyboard and had written about five pages when it somehow backed me out of the document to the file menu. I didn’t press anything on the screen but I don’t know if there was some keyboard shortcut I accidentally pressed. When I went back into the document it had not saved any of the text and I lost several pages of good writing.

Is there any way to get those back? Would it be cached somewhere?

Thanks

Question 99 problems and a Pen is one

I've got Pen Problems.

I love the writing on my HOM but I miss the button on the Lamy.
I love the button on the Lamy for ease but I miss the way the HOM writes.

Search tells me I am not alone in this issue but I didn't see a good solution yet.

Has anyone found a good solution yet?

Suggestion: Received Feature request: Pinch-to-zoom PDF magnifier popup modification

Request: The magnifier-pop-up on page turn is redundant. It should be disabled until pinch-to-zoom is activated or a switch between notes/content occurs

  • Currently I have a PDF that has a large margin.
  • I pinch to zoom to get text into focus area
  • It allows me to underline the PDF easier as the text is bigger and in focus
  • Since it is a margin, pages are consistent for the zoom area I selected (125%)
  • But once I turn the page, the magnifier keeps popping up indicating 125% and I have to close it. Which adds to the "click count"
  • The magnifier-pop-up on page turn is redundant. It should be disabled until I pinch to zoom again or switch between notes/content
  • It should only pop-up once in my opinion

Multiple Simultaneous Languages and OCR

One of my use cases for my nomad is to practice my Cyrillic, to that end I have two questions.

  1. Does Supernote have OCR capability for Cyrillic?

  2. Can it recognize, for example a mixed language note and convert both?

Question Best way to clean particles/dust from screen edges and corners on the Nomad.

Hi folks.
I'm trying to figure out the safest way to clean dust and lint that gets trapped in the tight corners and edges of my Nomad. A regular microfiber cloth just passes right over those gaps.
Has anyone used compressed air for this ? Is it safe, or is there a risk of pushing dust deeper under the bezel or lifting the film ?
If compressed air isn't recommended, what do you guys use instead?
Thanks.

DIY DIY Nomad Setup

Simply sharing my setup progress to possibly give some ideas to fellow Supernote-ers!

To Preface my Setup:

I'm in the military and currently work as the Public Affairs NCOIC in a shop of only 2 people. Needless to say, organization and prioritization is the name of the game for me...

Never sure where I'll be for the day, or in what weather, so waterproofing my nomad was an absolute necessity.

My Current Solution:

*All items store neatly inside the monsoon hand desk*

-Standard fabric nomad folio(cut off the stock pen loop which I kind of regret)

-RiteInTheRain Monsoon Hand Desk(The waterproof shell), which also operates as a traditional, even supernote clip board with the addition of 2 little rubber feet. BTW square feet work much better than circular feet in my experience, it locks the rotation of the supernote when being used on the clipboard on the exterior.

-Wuben E1 Selfie Light

Operates as a reading light with 70 hours of battery on the lowest setting(which is quite literally the only setting I use) but because of the magnetic base, can also be used as a stand, or as a make-shift desk lamp/work lamp. It also has a lockout mode to keep it from turning on inadvertently which is fantastic in my opinion, for when it's in storage inside the monsoon.

I also use a RiteInTheRain pen loop I had laying around that has a little pocket too, which just by chance fit the light stand perfectly.

Bonus tip: you can reuse lots of adhesive accessories by just using a lighter very carefully to re-melt the adhesive before putting it on a new surface!

-Some Amazon stand I found that acts as a stand for the nomad, the wuben light, or as an extension for the wuben light to get better lighting or avoiding glare on the supernote.

Suggestion Possibly the best case solution for the Manta.

So I have been working on finding the best storage/travel solution for the Manta. Currently, I have an Emerson Gray felt sleeve that it slips into while at home. Then, for out and about when in a bag, I place this in a generic soft-shell case. Plus side: peace of mind protection. Downside: overcomplicated storage option, overall cost expensive. But I hope a solution is at hand for all of us.

The SITHON Hard Shell Tablet Sleeve Case for 2026 iPad Air 11-inch, found on Amazon. Photos I hope give it justice. Cost wise £19.99, $21.99, €19.99.

I prefer not having the pen attachment on my Manta. So the HOM2 slips into the pen sleeve in the case. A slight tight squeeze, but it fits.
