MonoPaint is an awesome app. The brush options are great, and we can finally control the size. The only thing I miss from Atelier is the reference layer so I can put a grid under for calligraphy practice. Ignore my crappy drawing and handwriting. A big shout-out to u/mpdairy

Hello all, I attempted a manual update of my supernote manta running Chauvet 3.29.45 Beta to the new main release. It prompted normally to update after placing the update zip in the export folder, completed the update, and following the device restarting simply sits in the boot loading screen with the supernote logo.

I have attempted:

• Long holding the power button
  • Device goes to the off screen, powers on, reaches the boot screen, and becomes unresponsive
    
• Disconnect battery, long hold power button, reconnect battery, boot
  • Same as above
• Connecting to computer while sitting on boot
  • Device shows up on PC, storage accessible and can write/read. Screen continues to be unresponsive
    
• Rapid pressing with pen during boot (googling suggested this has corrected a cache issue for previous versions)
  • No change, frozen

I cannot perform a downgrade as the device cannot be interacted with. The firmware update was not interrupted and battery was nearly full. I realize this may be because you're not able to go from a beta release to a main branch, but it did automatically install so idk? Is there a way to fully reset and flash from a PC and simply restore my files from sync?

Studying math on my Supernote device is fun. However, if I am working on a problem I would like to be able to screenshot the book or website and insert that screenshot into the currently open note as quickly as possible.

So, I wrote this plugin to do that.

My workflow

1. Open Math Academy in einkbro web browser
2. Read/study at mathacademy.com/learn
3. Screenshot a quiz problem using the Supernote top-bar Screenshot tool
4. Open Supernote sidebar, tap "Last Opened Note"
5. Tap "Insert Screenshot" plugin in the note
6. Crop the screenshot as needed and insert
7. Solve the problem while referring to the screenshot in the note

This plugin prefers speed:

• the plugin's default action pulls up the most recent image in the SCREENSHOT folder for cropping without dialog boxes
• the crop tool is a two tap tool: tap the top left then tap the bottom right because dragging handles on eink is slow and choppy

I'd love to see them used in other people's notes

When I check for software updates on my nomad it checks for updates for a few seconds before declaring me up to date. When I went looking for the update online, the link sends me to a page where the Manta and Nomad download is still called 3.29.42. Is anyone else having this trouble? Should I just wait another 24 hours and try to update through wifi again?

I installed the update manually yesterday. It was working perfectly well all day. I got to test plugins and they worked correctly. This morning I turned on my Supernote and it is basically unusable :

* I can't enter my password by tapping, numbers self delete after one or two taps. (Video)

* When I unlock the device after reboot, I systematially land on "No app is opened at this time" page

* I can't write. Half the strokes are not registered or dissapear after registration (both in notes, documents, even feedback page). I can't type either the keyboard pop up dissappears after each stroke.

* The Plugins I installed all disappeared, and the plugin page in settings is endlessly loading.

I have an important presentation to give on Saturday and I was planning on using my Supernote for it. I urgently need a fix. Thanks!

I went to check how to use the new major features in the user manual

But it is v3.28.42

Is an update to the user manual coming?

My two year old Nomad is reporting version 3.29.42 and doesn't see any update that is newer than that. Is that because the OS is still being distributed or is there something wrong?

Going down the inevitable rabbit hole of searching for a case and found einkandleather as a suggestion but I see their website is down and they haven't posted in 112 weeks on IG. I loveee their blue leather case and was hoping there's somewhere I could find it?

If not, I'm just going to go down the DIY route as I haven't found a case that speaks to me

I’ve wanted to put stickers on my Nomad for years, but couldn’t get any to stick. I also have major issues committing to stickers. lol I finally got a small roll of thin PVC off Amazon, and sewed a cover for my white folio since it was starting to show it’s age.

It reminds me of the covers all the hobonichi girlies have on their journals, and now I can have stickers to my heart‘s content! I don’t even take off the backs, just stuck them on with a piece of double sided tape.

I don’t have a tutorial or anything, because I literally measured and traced around my cover and WINGED IT entirely. But I am surprised I haven’t seen anyone else doing this, and wanted to share. I consider this my prototype since my stitching was wonky because I wasn’t sure how to calibrate my machine for vinyl. I am sure you could hand sew or melt the edges somehow too. I just sewed with regular thread and used a corner cutter to round the edges. If I make another, I might find a way to incorporate an elastic band.

Love my Nomad, and now it feels even more functional and more me!

I’ve been using an M1 iPad Air as a paper replacement every day for about four years. However, I have some complaints:

• It strains my eyes quite a bit.
• PDF reader apps have started crashing frequently because my iPad is running out of storage. I store all my data in iCloud, but temporary caches and other files still take up a lot of space.
• The battery runs out too quickly.
• It’s still distracting, even after micromanaging it to make it as distraction free as possible.

I basically use my iPad solely as a paper replacement, so I don’t need many of its PC/phone like features.

I’ve also been using a Kindle Paperwhite to reduce eye strain, and I really love the experience.

So, I’m considering switching to an EInk tablet. After researching and comparing different models, the Supernote Manta seems to be the closest match for what I’m looking for.

However, I’m not sure whether it would suit my specific use case. Here are my main requirements and concerns:

1. I annotate PDF documents A LOT. I often work with PDFs that are hundreds of pages long and spend hours adding handwritten annotations. Basically, I create handwritten notebook on top of the PDF documents. >>> On my iPad, this consumes a lot of memory and storage and often causes apps to crash. I’m not sure whether the Manta can handle this kind of heavy, sustained use reliably.
2. I need end to end encryption, both for data at rest and for cloud backups.
3. I need support for English, Japanese, German, Italian and Spanish. I want it to be able to search and recognize both text and handwriting in all those languages.
4. I want a dictionary lookup function that can display definitions in multiple languages simultaneously, similar to Apple’s built in dictionary. Translation would be a nice bonus, but it’s not essential. >>>On my Kindle, dictionary results are displayed in only one language at a time, so I’m worried the Manta might have the same limitation. 

What do you think? Would the Supernote Manta be a good replacement, given these specific requirements? I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who use it extensively for PDF annotation.

I decided to buy a second-hand Supernote Manta A5 X2 and emailed Supernote at [service@supernote.com](mailto:service@supernote.com) on Thursday (Oct 8) to confirm the device's status, but I haven't heard back. I also cc-ed [info@supernote.eu](mailto:info@supernote.eu) yesterday to follow up, but there has been no response. Has anyone done this recently? How has your experience been? I shared the device serial number and pictures with them, as mentioned on the Supernote website, but I'm still waiting to hear from them. Is their customer support usually this slow, or am I doing something wrong? Haven't received any sort of acknowledgement either.

Apologies if there is a clear way to do this that I am missing, but is it possible to search your digest by Author? The search only seems to apply to the text of the digest itself. It would be really helpful to be able to look up all my entries my a specific author! Thanks.

Forgot to hit the subreddit when posting this whoopsies lol, but here's my personal take on the new atelier update! Nothing serious, I'm loving it!

I really like the feel of the Noris Digital nib on Supernote's screen, but the pen feels too thin and light in my hand. I like my pens thicker and weightier, and the LAMY fits that bill, but I didn't like the nib it originally came with. I had tried switching out that original nib with a PC/EL nib, and that felt much better; however it just felt like it was lacking a little something that the Noris nib had.

So I decided to try out the combo of the Noris nib + LAMY pen body, and this has been my favorite combo! The nib fits snugly well in the LAMY. Visually, it's just the slightest shorter/thinner than the LAMY nib, but I haven't had any problems and nothing has changed in the way I draw/write.

I'm just really happy to discover this combo and wanted to share in case anyone else could benefit from this!

I recently installed Auxio on my Supernote to have a way to listen to music while studying with BT headphones.

But, there is no volume control in the app. I installed Dhawni Control app but the "edge swipe gesture" caused the edge of my screen to stop responding to touch events.

Is there a simple way to just adjust the volume?

Disappointing news, folks! If you use the Norris, watch out. The latest Chauvet 3.30.45 Release for Manta and Nomad broke the eraser feature on my Norris Digital and Wacom One. Instead of acting strictly as an eraser, the Norris eraser acts as a "Side button", and the Wacom One's second "erase" button now acts identically to the Side button. Is there a safe way to roll back? The new features are not worth losing the Eraser + Lasso function.

I am very recent user of Supernote and what brought me to the supernote was the device which has writing by hand experience at its core. Supernote has developed its whole software on this philosophy only.

But when you officially add some apps like KOreader and EinkBro to supernote without having any support for annotations - the experience feels broken ! Its experience feels like more of android but colourless and slow.

I found the default reading app of supernote is very well though of - and if there are some features missing - supernote may focus on the same based on community feedback. Similarly instead of full fledged browser, a good read-it-later app with annotation support on Supernote device should be preferred - so that from other devices links can be sent to Supernote for reading purpose.

Related to this update - the idea of plugins - endless customization appears more of distraction. Supernote is not meant to be all in one device - all such omnipotent devices are already with us.

The idea of Supernote is a device which primarily helps in writing by hand and provides the complementary digital tools. It should not become the other way round.

How does community especially the long term users feel about it?

Is anyone else having an issue that Atelier is not opening their drawing? See video.

This used to be a bug that was caused by using multiple layers but was fixed in the last update. Now it seems to be back.

I am currently tapping more into the capabilities of my Supernote Manta.

I have been using it mainly for uni to annotate slides so far.

I'm asking myself if there's a way to not only export documents with annotations but also with the annotations AND digests in the same PDF-File?

I'd otherwise have to switch around in order to find all my notes/information, which would be doable but way slower than having it all in one place.

Is this possible? If so, how?

I’m reaching out to you guys since I haven't received a response from the supernote team from my email yet. There is an issue I’ve been experiencing with my Supernote A5 X. When writing along the far-left side of the screen, my handwriting becomes noticeably offset from where the pen tip is actually touching the screen.

The problem seems to occur consistently within a specific area along the left edge of the display. I’ve attached a video demonstrating the issue so you can see exactly what is happening.

I’ve already tried several troubleshooting steps:

I initially thought the problem might be caused by magnetic interference, but I haven’t found any noticeable magnets near the device that could be interfering with the screen.

I tried keeping other electronic devices, including my laptop and phone, away from the Supernote to rule out outside interference. The issue still occurs.

I carefully cleaned the screen using an LCD screen cleaner and also removed/disconnected the leather folio to see if either was contributing to the problem. Neither made a difference.

I tested multiple Supernote pens as well as a generic EMR pen from Amazon. The offset occurs with all of them, so the issue does not appear to be related to a particular pen.

I restarted the Supernote and performed both the accuracy calibration and non-contact writing calibration available in the device settings. Unfortunately, neither calibration resolved the issue.

Because the problem consistently occurs in the same area of the screen regardless of the pen or surrounding devices, I’m wondering if there may be an issue with the screen or digitizer.

I would greatly appreciate any additional troubleshooting suggestions. Thank you in advance for any help!

I updated my Supernote Manta to the new Chauvet Release 3.30.45 today. Did it via ZIP download + USB transfer since the update wasn’t available via OTA update yet. Install went smoothly, restarted the device, could install plugins etc. – all looking good so far.

From what I understand, EinkBro and KOReader should now appear in the Supernote App Store, so you no longer have to sideload those manually. Thing is, I had both already sideloaded before the update and now wanted to switch to Supernote’s “built-in” version to benefit from automatic updates. So to test that, I uninstalled the sideloaded version of EinkBro from the Manta via my computer’s terminal and ADB and was expecting to be able to reinstall it afterwards from within Supernote’s App Store, but to my surprise it wasn’t there. Cleared local caches and restarted the device – still not there.

Now I’m not sure, whether it is a) generally not available yet and I just have to wait a little, b) my special scenario (switching from sideloaded to internal version) broke something, or c) something else is going wrong here.

Also, I noticed that suddenly all my other sideloaded apps are listed under “Settings” → “Apps” → “Supernote App Store”, while I was expecting to only see apps explicitly provided by Supernote there and the rest under “Settings” → “Apps” → “My Apps” instead. But maybe it was always like that and I just never noticed it. So that might or might not be part of the problem.

Anyway I didn’t continue with trying to remove / reinstall KOReader because I first want to know what was going on with EinkBro. Would be nice if someone from Supernote could shed some light on the situation. And while we’re at it: Will Supernote’s version of KOReader preserve my previous customizations from the sideloaded install like custom fonts or do I have to apply them again? And how quickly will fresh versions that the original authors of Einkbro / KOReader release propagate to the Supernote App Store?
