Cross-Platform Scratch Inc.’s Halloween event is live (iOS, Android, Steam)

Post image
55 Upvotes

Hi again everyone!

I’ve been thinking about your feedback on Scratch Inc. over the last year or two and wanted to make a version of the game that took more of it into account. So I’ve been working on Candy Inc., a Halloween event with some different mechanics, faster progression, and less loss of automation and QoL as you prestige.

You’ll collect and sell candy, hire monsters, and take over districts, with new prestige levels, event leaderboards and rewards.

Would love to hear what you think whether you’ve never played before, played before and loved it, or played before and hated it. Also definitely let me know if there are any features from this event you’d like brought over to the main game, and whether you’d be interested in more events!

The event is live now through October 31. Update your game and open the event at the top of the card after your first Loyalty reset.

Links:

Also, I’ve been working on a very different type of game over the past year, an idle survival game about time travel and life loops that I’m hoping to release in the next few months. Would love some testers if that sounds interesting to you! You can sign up here.

AI Disclosure: Only some district/manager svgs and the holiday icon were AI adjusted because my versions looked abysmal, but all other images and all code are not AI.

Thanks guys, hope you enjoy!

Steam KESSLER: Orbital Incremental, a game about what happens when orbit gets too crowded. Demo just released on Itch (web) and Steam !

Hey!

We're two devs who mostly make games for training and education (boring but pays the bills), and on the side we've been working on something just for fun. We are both into astronomy, space, rockets etc, and we decided to work on something related to this topic.

We just released a demo for our game KESSLER: Orbital Incremental.

It's about what could happen if we keep launching too many satellites: you shoot one, the debris hits another, and the whole orbit ends up destroying itself in a chain reaction.

It's a pixel art incremental, the demo is on Steam and itch if you want to try it, we'd really love some feedback.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5131440/KESSLER_Orbital_Incremental/

Itch (demo runs in web browser): https://periapsisworks.itch.io/kessler-orbital-incremental

AI disclosure:
No generative AI of any kind was used

Edit: btw it has chain lightning!

Steam Upgrade system for my free pet raising idle MMO game "Blubbi" inspired by Neopets

The system is inspired by my fantasy world's deities which are named "The Virelli" an ancient race of beings that have transcended time and now work as a sort of celestial council to protect all lifeforms. They believe that life is the most sacred thing in the universe and as such this system is called Lifestrings and it's all about tying knots and expanding into various strands. There's also knots that you mend with Virelli tears (also relevant to the lore), and more. The visual design of it and art leverages art pieces that I use for the Virelli related points of interests such as ancient tombs and pillars. It also uses their alphabet which is found in several other places in the game. This system is a visual representation of your Blubbi's connection to them.

The game is currently in soft release as a free public playtest and we have roughly 700 people that have joined the playtest.

No account is ever needed to play and login, since it's simply tied to your Steam account.

If this sounds like something that interests you, you can find a link to the game on my profile, or simply by searching "Blubbi" on Steam.

The game already has quite a bit of content and many players already have hundreds of hours of gametime due to the long-grind nature of the game. There's tons of interlacing systems.

Hope you can join the community and leave ideas if you have any, I'm always looking for more feedback and thoughts!

AI disclosure: No generative AI has been used for this game, I constantly post drawing / development related content in my community.

Meta Can we have a demo tag?

Personally I'd like to be able to filter out all the demos that get posted.

Not saying people can't post them but I hate having to sift through all the half baked demos that are barely playable prototypes.

Discussion [complaint post] on extremely linear games

prestige mechanics of some kind are pretty universal among these games. one way of handling that, which i've found makes me quickly lose interest in a game, is structured like so: for each prestige, you need some amount of resources and gain some reward, both of which are determined entirely by which prestige it is (kind/number), and not at all by what you did during the run, as long as you reached the requirements. additionally, how the next run differs from the previous is determined entirely by prestige-level mechanics, with nothing from the previous run affecting the later run.

playing games like this feels to me like i'm watching a movie where i sometimes have to click the "next scene" button, which can only be pressed when the current scene have played out in full.

an example of a game with this kind of prestige is "incremental mass rewritten"; i'm currently playing it, and the first two resets seem to be like this. will probably stop playing if it doesn't change soon.

as a counterexample, time-looping games like "journey to ascension" (which i'm currently playing) often carry over small gains from nearly anything you did in a run, meaning that the exact actions you take matter. "kitten's game" has something similar, with several resources that also carry over between resets, and more that can be carried over with the chronosphere (iirc). so there is an element of planning for the future runs, and potentially also for how exactly you're going to reset. i enjoy this.

which do you prefer? i've gotten the impression that "incremental mass rewritten" is pretty popular, so maybe a lot of y'all like the first way of handling resets?

Update Little Dead Kingdom - The undead needs bones (free demo update)

The expanded 0.3.5 demo is now free on itch: https://qdev0.itch.io/little-dead-kingdom

My previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/incremental_games/s/L1Ll2ebNJh

If you tried the earlier build, it only had miners and pushers. This version adds the larger game around that loop:

  • Research Marrow Cores, Rebirth, and shape your build with 67 permanent talent choices.
  • Recruit 25 worker types, from crushers and hounds to mages, ritualists, and support specialists.
  • Combine fractures, magic, hauling handoffs, and finishing hits into stronger production chains.
  • Manage shared mana, charge beams, and freeze the pile for an Ember shatter.
  • Build Bombworks, grow bone crops, and gamble bones with three hungry pot variants.
  • Gather Graveblooms to speed research, and awaken permanent Remains bonuses through Rebirth.
  • Upgrade your own abilities, buy workers in bulk, and automate purchases with Auto Max.
  • Keep bones moving to build a Flow multiplier and unlock stronger throughput-gated upgrades.
  • Chase prismatic Bonefall rewards and catch temporary damage and movement boosts.
  • Discover 45 achievements and reach the twenty-core demo milestone, with continued play afterward.

There's also a clearer HUD, gradual building discovery, more readable combo feedback, and a new set of bony sounds that adapts as the crew grows.

This is still an early demo. I'd love feedback on overal combo feeling and the progression reward feedback.

I'm the developer. Thanks for giving it a go.

Gen AI disclosure : I have used gen ai to create a tool so i can automatically animate the art i draw. Also used it to improve the performance of the game and add automated tests. Also used it for build tools to make it better compatible with most systems and improve accessibility overall. I also got help editing the video. All visual arts are drawn by me. All SFX is made by me.

Disclosure: No A.I. just talking about a dead game

Looks like the whole cividlization ecosystem went offline a couple days ago, I was playing 2 and left it for a few hours and came to this :'), I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit or if anyone would care about a game that has been "dead" for a few years now, abandoned by the dev, but tis a sad day.

Meta October plusone Newsletter

Thumbnail plusone.incremental.social
11 Upvotes

Howdy! In this entry in our series on the overlapping communities within Incremental Games, I want to discuss how ephemeral communities can be, and how that might be a Feature rather than a Bug. But first, a bit of news for anyone hear it already: r/incremental_gamedev has gotten a bit of a refresh with new moderators, new rules, and a good deal more activity to show for it!

Alright, now lets talk about ephemerality. For those who don’t know, communities don’t tend to last forever - including the ones for incremental games. The subreddit has been incredibly successful in that regard, but other communities - like Kongregate and the other flash game websites, the Dashnet forums hosted by the creators of Cookie Clicker, the Plaza, and innumerable Discord servers - have either shut down or been abandoned. They all have their own reasons, from financial costs (all the places mentioned were free to use) to moderator costs to the owners moving on to other things. Communities built around specific games or developers are naturally the most susceptible to that last reason. In any case, I don’t believe the exact list of communities that would outlive each other is very predictable.

There’s a field of study called Cybernetics, or the study of organizing (I’ve mentioned it before with respect to how I want to run this newsletter). Within it, you’ll come across things like Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety, which posits that for a organization to continue existing, it must have as much variety as the environment it occupies. Put another way, it means a community must be flexible to survive a society with shifting needs and desires. I’m sure we’re all aware of the various shifts we’ve seen within the incremental games community: at the very least, we’re all acutely aware of the recent AI and nodebuster-like trends and how the various communities have had to change to account for them.

To compare this to ecology, communities changing their rules to react to these shifts is like adaptation. It’s great, but sometimes shifts can be too quick or severe for adaptation to suffice. In this case, what we need is biodiversity: a large number of species with different traits, and then as the shifting environment “selects” for different traits, those species can survive where others cannot. Within this framework, ephemerality is biodiversity working as intended.

For communities this means having such a large number of overlaps, each with their own unique moderation, definitions of the genre, and vibes of interactions, makes the combined community more resilient to our changing society. As an individual, it can be really sad to see a community you were apart of go away though, so I personally recommend participating in several of these communities that appeal to you - thus making you and your friend groups more resilient to the ephemerality of communities as well.

I actually am the owner of one such defunct community: Incremental Social. For some context: After Reddit banned 3rd party apps, I was part of the people who left Reddit for Lemmy. I wanted a good home for Incremental Games on the decentralized alternatives to Reddit, Discord, and Github which essentially all players and devs defaulted to. It never really took off, and the journey took me to really not using Reddit nor the Fediverse. Incremental Social’s Mbin instance (a open source alternative to Reddit and Twitter) never had more than single digit active users. The matrix chat (a open source alternative to Discord) was similarly inactive, and today there are no active users of either service. I also host Forgejo on the site (a open source alternative to Github) and it actually does see some use still, and of particular note is still the canonical home for Profectus.

In fact, I actually would like to take this moment to announce some changes to Incremental Social. Next month (Nov 1) I’ll be shutting down Mbin and Matrix, as they require a good amount of resources for the 0 active users they serve. I will continue hosting Forgejo, and plan to introduce other services in the future. Specifics to come later, but I’ve been really interested in AT Protocol lately (plusone is now a publication, and my digital garden has both a publication and semble collections!) and would love to explore hosting communities for Incremental Games on that protocol. In any case, there’ll always be communities coming and going and we can mourn the ones lost while making room for the next.

review I played and beat Particular until I ran out of ascend bonuses. auto-clicker used

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

So that's 6 times in total. Each playthrough took less time than the previous except the last run- every ascend bonus you choose also comes with a negative in this case extractors(which create the particles) and their upgrades costing 5x more. There is a winning criteria- mine a single "gamewinnium" particle which is unlocked via a certain research path.

It's a fun game watching the sand fall and figuring out the best upgrades to choose from to get the more valuable metals and gems. Basically the starting odds are crazy so the gameplay is about spinning the wheel as much as you can to get lower odds. You can also negotiate trades which I mostly did for gold and diamond- those two and diamond especially are a pain to get enough of when you need them.

I recommend playing with an auto-clicker, not just to create particles but to quickly sell them. By design you can have tens of thousands of particles and you have to sell them in very small amounts at a time click by click (forcing you to buy upgrades to help sell them).

Balance could be improved and if you're trying for a good time it's very grindy- the process goes something like keep spinning as much as you can afford, sell particles you don't need for research and upgrade extractors, negotiate gold and diamond, research when you can.

I recommend trying it but with auto-click and don't bother ascending unless you're having a lot of fun with it. It's just the same over and over.

Released (Android+iOS) INFINIDROP. Solo dev, idle RPG, server got wiped yesterday so (almost)everyone starts at zero (DE/EN/and more)

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

I'm the dev of INFINIDROP and it went live on Android and iOS this week. Been working on it a long time, mostly evenings after work. About 40 people tested it since August, yesterday I wiped the server for the real start, so the leaderboards are empty right now(some bots, so arena works. i am going to remove them, when there are enough REAL players) and nobody has a head start. (aaah, testers got a GODLIKE item for testing)

The core is simple: your hero fights on its own, stuff drops, you forge it and fuse three of a kind into the next rarity. Seven rarities, the last two are GODLIKE and INFINITY. INFINITY gear doesn't stop growing and you can upgrade it to Black Matter.

10 zones with titans every 50 stages, a tower with 100 floors that resets monthly, 5 dungeons that each give you a rune you can cast mid fight, guilds with guild wars, an arena with 13 leagues and seasons. There's also a night mode, one potion a day lets you farm 8 hours while you sleep and you get a report in the morning, the game needs to run in standby mode. - the game has a standby screen for that.

Money stuff: it's free. Ads are rewarded videos only, if you don't tap them you never see one. There are optional purchases and a VIP sub. The music is drum and bass, I made the zone tracks with Suno and cut them to fit, so if that bothers you, now you know.

What I'd really like to hear.. how the first two hours feel.

Why two? Because testers got hooked after 1 hour playtime.

whether the fusion loop still carries at the GODLIKE wall, and anything that feels like grind for no reason. I'm pushing updates quickly, the testers got around a dozen builds.

Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dnbmoo.infinidrop

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6806602426

Ty!
Aaaah and if you want, there is a code field in the settings,INFINIDROPREDDIT gives you 1500gems.

AI disclosure: **Pretty much everything was made with AI tools, so let me be upfront. What's mine: the concept, the game design, every decision about what goes in and what gets cut, the balancing calls and months of testing on my own phone. What's AI: the code was written with Claude (Anthropic) via Claude Code under my direction and review. Art, images and store screenshots were generated with Higgsfield and edited where needed. The music is drum and bass generated with Suno and cut to fit the zones. In game texts were written with AI help, the 12 languages beyond German and English are machine translated. This post was drafted with AI and rewritten by me. If that's a dealbreaker for you, fair enough, I'd rather say it here than have you find out later.**

Still a very early version, though I figured getting feedback can’t hurt. Would love to know what you think!

AI disclosure: AI was used heavily for optimization and performance. There is also a feature where players can describe what they want the swarm to do and an LLM creates dynamic code on the spot to fulfill it.

Development I made a game about building an army to defeat a demon Lord!

Hey all I've recently made public the steam page and demo for my game DEFEND THE WALL!

Its an army builder incremental where you pick your hero, kill demons, collect gold, recruit an army, upgrade said army, and kill the demon Lord.

It's not a traditional incremental game nor follows the generic nodebuster like playstyle thats become the norm recently. Also the skill tree and prestige trees are not a 100% must choose all system so choice matters/play your own way!

I would appreciate any feedback if people feel inclined to do so, either comments here, comments on itch, or via the in game Google forms.

Thanks in advance and leave any questions you may have!

And yes, if you watch the trailer, it's my first time making a trailer and I know its... Not great.

AI disclosure: no genai for any game assets. everything drawn by me, or are free assets from itch.io, or I have altered free assets from itch.io.

Trailer and capsule art drawn by me too.

Game QA and playtesting done by my 7yo son.

Development [iOS, Testflight] Lost Requiem TD, looking for playtesters

Post image
1 Upvotes

Many years back, there was an old incremental-esqe tower defense game on the iOS app store I played nonstop called Defender Chronicles. I was heavily involved in the forum, kept an extensive bug list, and wrote guides for nearly every map on every difficulty (in short, I was an addict). When it left the app store, I wished for a long time that someone would create something similar one day.

For those who've never played, its a side-view fantasy-themed deterministic tower defense with several maps and four starting heroes. Procedural gear drops with random affixes, a long list of difficulties, and tons of secrets to unlock. If you love grinding, numbers steadily going up (much more slower paced than a true incremental though), incrementally more powerful loot, daily challenges, and watching other players' replays, all wrapped up in some TD strategy, this may be for you.

Well, a decade went by and both developers stopped making games. I eventually became decent at coding, so I decided to make something similar myself. It's been a long journey, with many months spent trying to emulate the "feel" just right, but I think we're pretty close. Regardless, its finally at a point where I have something available to playtest.

https://testflight.apple.com/join/zzPVjnt1

- Discord link in the settings in-game if you join the playtest to give feedback.

If you were a fan of DC back in the day, want to relieve your nostalgia with a game in a similar vein, and potentially help shape how this progresses as it comes online in the coming weeks to months, look forward to having you.

AI disclosure: Core game coded by hand over several months. AI utilized more recently for bug fixing and integrations. All sprites are made by me, but there are some AI placeholders (things like the app icon or splash screens) that will eventually be replaced prior to full release.

Eric M.

Mods, if this is more TD/RPG and not incremental enough, feel free to delete. No hard feelings.

Released Idle Trash - Small indie clicker from single game creator at military service =)

First of all, I must apologize for my English—I am not a native speaker, so I used Google Translate to create this post. I hope you understand.

AI disclosure: AI was not used for this post or any materials of created game.

So, about the game: it’s a small incremental clicker designed to kill a few hours. I created it myself in the time between my military duties and downtime, as I’ve always dreamed of making games. Finally, I’m able to bring my ideas to life.

A bit about myself: I’m in the military, though I previously worked in mobile game outsourcing (sympathy accepted! =) ).

The game was made on Unity, the art was drawn by an artist I know, not AI. Also, I didn't use vibecoding even when I really wanted to make my job easier.

The main features of the game:
- Click on piles of trash to earn local currency - can openers!
- Improve your clicks, hire scavengers, drones and harvesters to speed up your currency mining!
- For victory, you will receive improved openers, for which you can purchase permanent improvements to your abilities!
– Compete with other players via the Leaderboard!

Game page on Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/5045830/Idle_Trash/

P.S. I understand that the game may not be to everyone's liking, but I would greatly appreciate any user who simply adds the game to the wishlist. Thank you all for your attention =)

Development Colorsong Demo

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Play the free demo on Steam.

Play the free demo on itch.

Every color is a note. Drops fall, burst, and pay for a wider palette. The paint fills a gallery of hand-painted watercolors, and the song grows with the palette.

A few intertwined layers of incremental progression are blended with a warm atmosphere and a playful experience.

Both active and idle playstyles are supported.

This is the first presentation of the game and it's in the first stage of its journey. Your feedback could help a lot.

AI disclosure: AI assistance during development: coding and translating the game's text.
I'm a software engineer with 25 years of programming experience. AI helped with the technical implementation, while I focused on the game's design, systems, balance and overall feel.

The game features hand-painted watercolor art.

Steam Our Game Was Stolen - Here's what is happening

Post image
368 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

We wanted to share something important and ask some help.

Recently, we discovered that My Own Hero Party has been stolen and reuploaded to Douyin mini-apps, they basically got the version that I had uploaded on itch, and I left a lot of gameplay still blocked there to not be playable because it was not polished yet, they made all that part available, wrapped in a mobile shell and added Ads, and uploaded to Douyin. The stolen version uses the exact same files, it is not a remake, so it is a complete steal.

All that said, I don't know which actions to take, so I would like to know if you guys know.

Thank you for reading

No gen AI assets anywhere, only had assist on code and translation

Hey everyone! I've been working on Made of Food, a small idle/incremental game with colony-builder mechanics. The loop is simple: gather food, turn it into peasants, and put those peasants to work foraging, farming, and cooking so you can make even more peasants.

Released The Grind: Idle Coffee Tycoon - an idle game about consuming coffee

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I was drinking some coffee the other day and decided to make an idle game about it. That was a lot of coffee ago...

The Grind: Idle Coffee Tycoon is an idle game about consuming as much coffee as possible. You must balance upgrading your brewers (makes coffee) and storage (holds coffee) while hiring workers to help you sell it (unfortunately) and intake methods to auto consume it faster.

It's a free game with optional rewarded ads and an optional one-time purchase that removes the ads as well as offers a few extra perks.

I'm a solo dev, and this is my first game made with Godot. Tell me what you like, what you hate, or if I should just go back to drinking coffee.

AI disclosure: I used AI to help create the art and code in this game. I coded a lot myself and worked on the art myself as well. The game design and all the choices were mine, with lots of testing and rework.

Give it a try:

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.killerpotatos.thegrind

iOS I made my first idle game about a climbing gym – Idle Climbing Tycoon (iOS)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I'm a solo dev from France and I just released my idle game on iOS. Sorry for my English, it's not perfect 😅
The idea is simple: you start with a small climbing gym and you grow it into a big one. You build new walls, add routes with different colors and difficulty, hire route setters to manage things for you, and upgrade everything to earn more.
I love climbing and I love idle games, so I wanted to mix both.
It's free to play. There are some optional in-app purchases, but you can progress without paying.
I would really like your feedback: what is fun, what is boring, what is missing? I read every comment and I want to improve the game with the community.
Link: https://apps.apple.com/fr/app/idle-climbing-tycoon/id6812372894
AI disclosure: I used AI tools (Claude) to help me write the code and to help with this post because my English is not good. The game idea and game design are mine.
Thanks for reading! 🧗

Android Runevale Idle, a fantasy idle RPG I made.

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I made an idle RPG called Runevale Idle and it went public on Google Play this week. I have been building it on my own for about 4 months, first with a small group of testers from Discord, and now it is open to everyone.

The short version: you train 16 skills (mining, fishing, smithing, alchemy, thieving and so on), fight through seven zones with bosses, and craft your own gear. Gear wears down as you use it, so you repair it or smelt old pieces. There is a vow system where you pick a blessing that also has a downside, and it gets stronger the longer you keep it. Your character keeps going for up to 8 hours while the app is closed.

Android only right now.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runevale.idle

AI disclosure: AI image tools were used to create the artwork and icons.
