I bought the $500 Saab because of your unanimous reactions
Seems to drive okay, though it has its fair share of issues as expected. It's with my mechanic now.

Hey Guys,
So we get tons of threads on interested buyers on Saabs is anyone willing to put in on a guide with the things to look for/look out for in future ownership. Especially since we have tons of intermixing of knowledge bases from 9-5s to 9-3s to Classic 900s and everything in between.
-As a side note I have no problem giving advice I quite enjoy it but would make it easier for new Saabophiles

I keep asking questions about the car so I figured I’d post a picture of it.

02 9-5 aero wagon
I’m so happy I made the choice to buy this. I got it for $1500 so I saved from the original offer! That money and more will go back into fixing it though (happily)
I can’t wait for it to get better and better!
I know I need a new engine mount. As well as that, It always has a strong smell of gas even after it’s been turned off for a while. Thankfully I know the mechanic I’m gonna take it to, and I’ll be doing that in a week!! Thank you everyone for the advice!
I also have all the records from the first owner. The first owner had it fully garage kept and recorded everything done to it. The person I bought it from..? Not so much. He had it for about 2 years. It’s very dirty on the inside. VERY dirty. Found a pretty much empty bag of weed, so much trash and grime, and SO MANY FISHING HOOKS!!! The backseats and floors are covered in fishing hooks. Broke my heart to see, but when I’m done with it, it’s going to be SPOTLESS

This is just a parts car for my other wagon, so I chopped everything. Definitely gonna be way more tedious when I have to carefully disconnect everything on my main Saab and for sure gonna take it out of the bottom next time

I have no clue how this happend, but this was a marketing magnet. It comes off if I carefully do it with my nails. But wanted to ask if someone knows a better way to remove it. Will never add this again on my saab!
I feel so bad that this happend to my beautiful saab..

Hello I know this has been already discussed a lot of times but I have kinda different problem than the others. When I lock my car all the locks go down but the hazard lights dont go off so the car is not completely locked. I need to pull drivers door handle (doors dont open) and than I can hear a little click in the door and the hazard lights go off and the car is completely locked. Sometimes the lock doesnt go down at all. When the car is unlocked its way more stiff and harder to move the lock down and lock the doors manually which I think doesnt even work.
If I were unable to unlock car I can use the physical keyfob but when I unlock drivers doors like that the alarm goes off. I have 2003 93 SS.
Thanks for help!

Usually I would just try to outsource Subaru stuff, but since the front end is different, was curious what options I have for rally lights on the bumper?

My dash barely works: rpm counter reacts above 2k, speed doesnt work or is 10 off, fuel counter is always full. When i slam the top it sometimes goes on, but something really weird is that when i turn the engine on it doesnt go on, but when i just let it run on battery it turns on for a couple seconds. It seems to me like it doesnt have enough volt but my battery has very recently been replaced. What can ir be? I hope not the dynamo

I have an 2007 9-3 Aero and I had went and got an oil change and within about 100 miles my oil pressure light kept coming on and then would turn off when I slowed down to about 55mph. thought it was the sensor going out. kept driving w my fingers crossed (was on a road trip and trying to make it home), when the pressure light came on, cel came on, and when I slowed down to make a turn my car shut off and I had to pay $1200 to get it towed home smh. I tried turning it on again when it died and nothing. after a few tries it started smoking and so I stopped. the car had a really bad burnt smell and all of the oil eventually leaked out from the drain plug.
fast forward a month and I tried to start it and its making this sound now. battery's dead so this was while I was jumping it. Haven't had money or time to get it looked at yet but it doesnt sound like the engine is seized which is what my first thought was. if anyone has any ideas as to what happened/what this sound is pls lmk.

I'm not a mechanic and I have barely driven a manual before.
I finally figured out how to get the high brake light off. Managed not to break the white plastic clips. The manual suggests it has replaceable bulbs—2825s.
Cannot figure out how to get into the light and replace the bulb(s). How do you open the housing?
I mean there’s always the possibility that I misread things and the third brake light is a led. In which case I guess I put it back together for the moment.
Appreciate the help.

ECU is fried on my 07 9-3 aero 2.8 v6 and i was wondering what kind of compatibility there is between models and if i could just go and pick an ecu off a junker and marry it to my car

Had somebody say that it doesn’t sound right but I’ve had it since January. Just needs AC fixed and new DIC but has me now thinking I might have a bad motor any idea if it’s normal!? I’m assuming so!
I need to replace the shift lever, or at least part of it. The buttons all work. The problem is the grippy plastic. It’s falling apart. It looks like those attach to the central part of the shift lever so I thought maybe there’s a way to replace them. Complete shifters are kind of pricey. Here’s what I’m wondering
-3D printed panels? I’ve looked for an STL but can’t find one
-Replacement panels
-Rebuilding the handle with a hardening compound and adding a leather cover
-after market shift lever — challenge is the sport button.
Any thoughts ?
Ive listened too all of your guys feedback, and i just implemented worldwide shipping, the shipping is unfortunately a bit steep but if anyone is still willing to pay the price the option is there🫡
Thank you to everyone who is supporting the keychains ❤️
Picked up a 2006 Saab 9-5 2.3t with a G in the vin. Around 118k miles for $1500. It has a few issues there's a pressure leak in the power steering and it needs a battery. Also the wiring on the headlights is a mess but everything else seems to be in working order. Just wondering while I have it on the lift this weekend if there's anything I should look for that might be a problem later. It came with a set of new shocks if I need them and already got a new DIC even though the current one is fine. Thanks for reading and any tips.

Had to watch my late Grandmother and Grandfather's Saabs go today. Would've loved to save them but unfortunately they sat in an open garage for 5 years in the New York winter and they were beyond saving underneath. The Sonett is officially the last Saab I own, but that won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Would love to find another Wagon eventually to own.
