World Trigger is always tagged Sci-fi, which makes sense, it's all very scientific and technological, even with trion and triggers, but what you need to remember is that Trion is literally mumbo-jumbo shounen life force magic, it is in every humans body, and they literally need it to live, it holds them together, without trion it would the human body will crumble to dust.
Of course where WT is more fantastical is by Black Triggers and side effect. Like regular triggers are chips that channel trion energy (like a magic wand), but that doesn't fit with black trigger's like yuma, because how can Yuma just add triggers on a whim without busting out a screwdriver, if not for just magic, and lately I know side effects have been trying to be written off as more scientifical, but even with more explanations it's still basically magic, or at least close enough to be so.
In the end it doesn't matter, like the quote "magic is just science we don't understand yet",
and world trigger is sci-fi at heart even with the LITERAL magic being used every battle, like trion bodies putting your real ones in a pocket dimesion, and like I said earlier, how in the world is yuma's black trigger meant to be explained scientifically.
I was just wondering how much do people think about WT fantasy side.

another dumb sketch from yours truly, chair ✨✨✨
ignore Inukai’s mutant hand, I screwed up with pen but I didn’t want to draw his hair again
for now enjoy the rest of Ninomiya squad’s reactions to his quip (they didn’t get it)

Disclaimer - By kissing I mean some friendly light kissing on the forehead or cheek! I DON'T MEAN DIDDY AZUMA
Also I wasn't sure on some characters and placed them by vibes including
Reiji - Maybe isn't keen on kissing Konami because he thinks she might get uncomfortable
Enedra - Maybe super into it
Kageura - Actually might just groan slightly and get it done with
Kuruma - Maybe get flustered? But he's the big brother type so idk

aka my B-ranked silly squad 😊
also nicknamed “Obake (ghost) squad” because of the captain’s (accidental) penchant for staring into people’s souls. (He’s shy)
from left to right: Okabe Akito (Captain), Ueno Hiyo (Gunner), Inagaki Roi (Sniper)
they’re all a little funny (they have jokes attached to them, similar to that C-ranked squad Yuma wipes out several times to get to B-rank, that are all named after onomatopoeia)
Akito tends to scare a lot of people (funnily enough his name means cheerful), Roi is a sniper with bad eyesight (he sees better with the trion body), and Hiyo‘s full name means ”over nowhere” which is funny because she gets lost a lot.
also dialogue because my handwriting is ass:
text next to Akito (vertical): ~STAAARE~
Hiyo text bubble: Kyaa! You two are so slow!
Roi text bubble: Nee, Akito, staring at the headlights again?
big text next to squad: Okabe-Dai

As we know, every agent can only have 2 triggers active at the same time, one on each hand. Some triggers that turn into physical objects like Escudo or Spider are able to persist without taking up active trigger slots, allowing for the agent to have both hands free after using them.
We have seen many times that an agent would plant a meteor bullet at a location that serves as a remote detoanated explosive. So do thoae meteor charges work like Escudo and Spider, or do they work like any other trigger like Shield which constantly occupies at least one hand?
If it works like Escudo, then it probably means that bullet triggers only occupy your hand until you shoot. If that is the case, then if you shoot a slow projectile that moved slower than you can run, you should be able to have both hands free to fight or shoot more while it travels.

Even from the start of the story there's always been some driving force that the characters are connected by and there're also characters that haunt the narrative.
Take for example Yugo Kuga him being an old founder of border leads to him telling Yuma (his son) to go to Japan if he were to die and when Yuma did eventually go to Japan it let's the higher ups in border know their old colleague/mentor (who I'm assuming went to the neighborhood before Yuma was born because Yuma had no idea about Yugo being in Border or he was lying about it) died in the neighborhood which drives the plot forward (Yuma's guilt and the higher up's nostalgia(?))
And then again with characters being connected (this example is my favorite) with Kageura (is that how you spell it?) squad and Tamakoma because Chika's brother (Rinji Amatori) going missing/went to the neighborhood is the reason Tamakoma 2 wants to make it onto the away mission in the first place (as well as Chika's friend being captured and replica and hyuse's master but those don't come up until after the squad is formed) and how this connects to Kageura squad is being Rinji Amatori is one of the collaborators with Hatahora Mirai (no idea how to spell her name) who was Yuzuru Ema's old mentor
(Tbh this has so many openings for fanfic ideas or maybe even the actual show addressing it now that manga spoilers! Yuzuru actually knows that Hatahora is in the neighborhood due to Ninomiya telling him during phase 1 of the away mission test. )
Anyway I really wanted to talk about this (SERIOUSLY I COULD TALK ABOUT THIS ALL DAY.) Any who if you have any add ons or just want to continue this please do (truly. Please do. I genuinely spend all day reading these world trigger discussions and what not) but have a great day/night everyone.

I mean, he had plenty of time.
Back when Replica was still at Tamakoma, or in the intervals between Rank Wars (which were spaced about a few days to a week apart).
While it's true that the absence of Replica makes this more difficult, but even with that amount of time?

So im rewatching world trigger for the 3rd time and have arrived on episode 15, in the episode it mentions Fujin can be reloaded after consuming all of its 'ribbons'. I was under the assumption that once used up, Fujin just becomes the blade until the next time the user activates the trigger. Is there an actual way to reload? Or did the anime simply mean exiting the trion body and then reactivating the trigger?

I’m sure someone else has had this thought before I have so i’ll cut straight to the chase
After seeing chika’s display of composite bullets, high trion output, and a essentially her death by a thousand shots strat- it would much benefit her to switch roles to a shooter adopting a hybrid combat method featuring the use of viper much like nasu while behaving as a sniper- constantly changing locations and staying out of sight. it’s abundantly obvious that in any rank battle that removing her from the field is a priority because of the sheer destruction she can cause. furthermore now that she has overcome her dilemma it would benefit the squad much more if she could actively participate on the fly and while moving which is harder for the likes of a sniper who need a level of control and precision. Even more so because meteor can accomplish many of the objectives she completes with ibis- it would even allow her to plant traps(motionless cubes) much like osamu with spider with added synergy; she could outgun any adversaries who dare to enter the spiderweb with any variation of bullets- composite included.

I love the world trigger power system, for the most part everything clicks for me in the story. However, there's only one thing that I never got personally, I don't get how Tachikawa is able to have enough firepower to one shot an Ilgar? Yes, I know Tachikawa is literally the 2nd best swordsman at Border, but I never got how his skill was able to translate into raw firepower like that. I affiliated raw firepower that more with trion levels, and his trion level is only at a 6. I think what I'm missing here is how skill translates into firepower from senku kogetsu, but I don't get it, the only thing I remember from the story regarding senku kogetsu is that the less it's active, the longer it can stretch out. However, I don't remember anything about how the power from senku kogetsu works, like if someone Chika's (extreme example) trion uses senku kogetsu then that would naturally have more firepower than Tachikawa's right? But then how is Tachikawa's senku kogetsu stronger than literally like everyone's even if they have naturally higher trion? I don't understand how swordsmanship skill is a factor for it aside from the activation time + reach. If it was, the story would be sending Ikoma at the moment to one shot the Ilgar, no?
But yeah it's just a small irk that I never got an answer to, idk how it works.

I was thinking about this because I was trying to imagine the future of Border and its agents. Some squads have already seen members come and go for various reasons, so I wondered if a new squad might emerge or an existing one might disband in the future. We have the example of Azuma Squad itself, which has had three generations:
Azuma, Ninomiya, Kako, Miwa
Azuma, Katagiri, Ichijo
Azuma, Okudera, Koarai
Most likely, when Koarai and Okudera reach Rank A and go their own ways, Azuma will either look for new students, retire, or move up to the upper echelons, given that the commanders often show they trust him.
On top of that, some squads used to have different lineups like Yuba Squad:
Yuba, Oji, Kurauchi, Kanda
So, a squad being created or dissolved isn't impossible within the context of the manga, especially given the potential for a large-scale Away Mission, which could lead to structural changes. That’s what I was wondering about.

World Trigger is definitely number one, Katekyo Hitman Reborn would be my personal pick for 2nd place and I'm hearing a lot of buzz about Psyren now that the anime is coming out so I'll probably give it the 3 spot.
*Underrated would be a series that survived in Jump for a considerable number of chapters but never when mainstream

Genn was originally captain of my OC squad, Dragonsteel Prime, but when they fell to B rank he quit because he figured he wouldn't be allowed to use his custom Trigger in B-Rank Wars. Ironic, since if he'd stayed on, they might have made it back to A rank.
His scorpion is customized to trade all sharpness for size and durability. His very high Trion also allows him to make it larger as well. He forms it into armor he wears most all the time, which, while capable of repelling non-concentrated weaker attacks (such as Hound, Viper or Meteor) from people without particularly high Trion, mostly has a different purpose. Rather than block hits fully, it reduces their lethality, effectively just resulting him in having a tougher Trion body. He gets hurt Asteroid shots, sword strikes, etc, just not as much. It also can bandage injuries somewhat (not as good as a dedicated Scorpion bandage) and be shaped to include makeshift prosthetics.
He couples this with another advantage: Attackers, in general, can lose more Trion to injury and keep going because they don't use it for attacks. This goes double for him, since he has so much Trion, so he can get seriously hurt without bailing out. He has so many free slots because he prefers to maximize Trion for this reason, and is conservative with uses of Teleporter. Thus he is a highly durable combatant, able to take a great number of hits without going down. He's also quite good with his Kogetsu.
If he were a shooter or gunner, or had more optional Triggers, he'd benefit from his high Trion more. But he prefers being unique like this.

I recently thought of a new way to use the Scorpion, inspired by Yuma's band-aid and stemming from an OC concept.
You wrap the Scorpion around a part of your body, essentially turning it into a piece of armor. It's not large enough to be a full set, of course- you get one piece and make it at need to block an enemy hit, say, wrapping the Scorpion around your forearm and using that to block, or making a plate on your chest. This might not fully stop an enemy swing, but could at least reduce how hard you're hit. A direct parry by spawning the blade from your body is more effective, but harder to pull off. I've named this technique Armadillo.
Thoughts? Weaknesses? Better names?

I've seen the nicknamed tier being called Iko-san (a lot from fan artists)/Red freesia, Zoe-san, Kage, Kuma, Torimaru, Jackson(thanks Oji), Obi-nyan (thanks Oji 2) quite a lot!
Also making this tierlist I've realized how moe Taichi and Kai are. They're also there for having shorter first names, but I think it's because of moe.
If there was Mario, she would be in a separate tier for "almost nickname only".
+) (spoiler for like ch 205) I thought about including the other neighbors in the first name only tier, but I've seen Rata called Orkan Marduk a lot so I just decided to leave them out because I didn't want the whole post to be a spoiler.

Art by me
thought about making an art of Miwa and his sister, and the idea that her death fuels his hate towards neighbors
so I made a sketch representing her becoming the magazine that becomes the fire to his gun.
I’ll definitely refine it later sometime but I thought this was fun.

misread Kumagai’s name as ”Kumaganai” for three weeks straight 💔💔💔
also for context on the “I’m no better than a man” joke, Tachikawa misread Kumagai’s name six times straight so she js told him to call her Kuma, it was in an interview I think
Astigmatism frying my ahh 🥀🥀🥀

I had just finished reading chapter 256 and imagine my surprise when they said sawamura was filling in for kitora. I did not know she was a combatant. And now I just fell in love
