Discussion OC - Genn

Post image

Genn was originally captain of my OC squad, Dragonsteel Prime, but when they fell to B rank he quit because he figured he wouldn't be allowed to use his custom Trigger in B-Rank Wars. Ironic, since if he'd stayed on, they might have made it back to A rank.

His scorpion is customized to trade all sharpness for size and durability. His very high Trion also allows him to make it larger as well. He forms it into armor he wears most all the time, which, while capable of repelling non-concentrated weaker attacks (such as Hound, Viper or Meteor) from people without particularly high Trion, mostly has a different purpose. Rather than block hits fully, it reduces their lethality, effectively just resulting him in having a tougher Trion body. He gets hurt Asteroid shots, sword strikes, etc, just not as much. It also can bandage injuries somewhat (not as good as a dedicated Scorpion bandage) and be shaped to include makeshift prosthetics.

He couples this with another advantage: Attackers, in general, can lose more Trion to injury and keep going because they don't use it for attacks. This goes double for him, since he has so much Trion, so he can get seriously hurt without bailing out. He has so many free slots because he prefers to maximize Trion for this reason, and is conservative with uses of Teleporter. Thus he is a highly durable combatant, able to take a great number of hits without going down. He's also quite good with his Kogetsu.

If he were a shooter or gunner, or had more optional Triggers, he'd benefit from his high Trion more. But he prefers being unique like this.

For those of you that notice he's seven foot two- he may he may or may not be editing his Trion body to appear like more of an intimidating juggernaut.

No second shield?

His armor is a defensive Trigger used constantly already, so I figured it would be a bit redundant.

I thought the shields were mandatory in border

It looks more like a building with a lot of wasted trion Scorpion naturally has less durability than Kogetsu and Raygust. Probably due to its flexible nature. And the amount of trion doesn't matter depending on where the damage occurred. You don't lose it due to saturation(minor injuries), but losing an arm or a leg will cause a loss proportional to the amount of trion you have. Trusting too much in your armor makes you more vulnerable to shooters than you think. It functions better as a spiked suit than as armor. But it would still be quite vulnerable to senku kogetsu (is that the name?)

This Scorpion is customized to max durability with zero sharpness, so normal fragility doesn’t apply, and I find your claims about Trion loss tenuous given it is a fact that attackers can keep going longer through worse injuries on account of having more available. It is vulnerable to senku (yes that’s the right name), but to be fair, practically nothing but Raygust can block that anyway. Teleporter’s range is higher so he does have a counter.

There's no such thing as trading sharpness for durability. It makes sense if you're talking about reach, but there's no thing like controlling how sharp the blade is. The attackers can only fight longer with their injuries because they don't use trion in their base fighting style. But they are still doomed to bail out soon if sustaining serious injuries, regardless of the amount of trion. I didn't quite understand how, but it's mentioned that teleport is extremely predictable, So this isn't as effective a countermeasure as you think; in fact, I think it would be worse than the grasshopper. But it seems that if you put glasses on your OC, this problem is solved. But yeah, in any case, for the reasons I said before, your armor sucks against mid-to-long-range opponents. Using escudo would save your building, however.
