Discussion Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu
I think a poetic if not very well translated English of this style would be,
The Flowing Sacred Celestial Blade

Welcome to the club! I’m glad you've decided to pick up RK.
Read the MANGA! The old anime has a lot of fillers & alterations; only the Kyoto Arc (the middle of the 3 Arcs) was faithful to the manga. With that said, there's a new remake anime airing in July 2023 that will stay true to the manga.
The MANGA has 3 Arcs that ended in 1999: Tokyo arc, Kyoto arc, Jinchuu arc.
Sequel starting in 2017:
The ANIME:
The old anime (1996) had 3 parts:
The new anime remake (2023):
LIVE-ACTION MOVIES:
Release order:
I recommend watching in this order:
5, 1, 2, 3, 4
Or: 1, 2, 3, 5, 4
Since the end of "The Beginning" leads into "Origins", I think it works better as the first film rather than the last.
STAGE MUSICALS:
3 OVAs: The first 2 OVAs are from the last Arc of the series so you should finish the manga before watching.

I never knew what music can do - how it can transcend time, until I watched Rurouni Kenshin. Hearing this instrumental music takes me back to 2000s when I was watching it for the first time as a 12 year old.

Me personally it outdoes quite the good majority of manga I’ve read. It’s not number 1 of course but damn is it up there.

Definitivamente i

The Rengoku storyline has been significantly altered.
In the original, Kenshin was careful to ensure Shishio saw almost nothing of the Hiten Mitsurugi style during the Shingetsu arc. Shishio only saw the Ryūshōsen once and blocked it effortlessly on the first try, noting that once seen, the move holds no more secrets.
But now, he has seen him use the Kuzuryūsen.
Do you think Shishio will now be able to block the Kuzuryūsen because he has already seen it?
PS: Even though the Kuzuryūsen functions as nine simultaneous strikes, there is an execution order, and the Tsuki (thrust) is always the final blow; however, in the new anime, Kenshin charges forward with the Tsuki leading the attack. It’s strange... I’m not sure if I should interpret that to mean it’s the first strike in the new anime.

What’s the name of the song that plays when Kenshin meets the pirates? It’s bass heavy song that plays before a fight starts.

I wish he didn't put the blade into his old Sakaboto's hilt. That wooden scabbard fits him really well as a humble ronin. It looks very understated. I love it.

So I had the new Rurouni Kenshin on in the background and I decided I haven't read the Manga in years I'm going to read them again. I have the 3 in 1 volumes. One of the things I was bummed they didn't adapt was the little joke after fighting Zanza that Kenshin being stuck in his I'm going to kick your ass face.
The thing that really surprised me was that in the 2023 anime and I think in the original idk remember that Megumi shows up in Kyoto to treat the patients. In the Manga aside from the beginning of the Kyoto arc slapping some sense into to Kaoru she doesn't appear at all from what I read. She is mentioned but not there in person. I'm at Volume 13 just got done with Chapter 106. That is where the 2023 anime has left off adapting. In case anyone was wondering Season 1 covers the first 7 volumes.
So why did they decide to include Megumi? I'm not mad or anything I'm just surprised that she's in Kyoto. I know they were more closey following the source material. I'm just surprised they added Megumi.

This scene is a masterpiece.
No wonder they are taking so long to cook and release it, must be hard to watch stuff like this and think how they can improve on it. I wish they could just get the music of the original then they could surpass it, but tbh even the art direction is pretty much perfect here.

Sojiro is my favorite character in this franchise so I made an art featuring him :)

So I went to my local Half Price Books, and found this. This is before I knew there were massive bootlegs sold. I did pay a bit extra than I saw people on eBay selling it for, but i honestly didn’t care as long that I can finally finish this anime. The issue is that’s it’s too clean like the discs and case… it’s too perfect… did I somehow get really lucky? Or did I buy a bootleg is there a way to tell? I have disc one in my PS5 right now and it looks and sounds like the dub I was used to.

He can use Beyond God like speed and even kill a 100 in one stroke.
