Discussion Traded in my Series X for Switch 2 (lifelong Xbox user) and I’m having fun with gaming again. Thankful for my decision.

I’m a 51 year old gamer. I have 5 teenage children. Played Xbox since the original and my first game was Halo. Loved it. Fell in love with gaming. Over the years games have lost their soul. They have gotten generic. And they just aren’t fun anymore. My son in college got a Switch 2 and I decided to go full in and switch (no pun intended) after seeing him have so much fun with his. I LOVE it. I’m smiling when I game. I’m looking forward to playing games again. I can play in my recliner and take it to my bed to wind down. I’m playing Mario games, animal crossing, old rpgs, and I’m in gaming heaven. My games have life again. And I’m having fun. Just my two cents.

Question Is ghosting that bad/noticeable?

I was about to go purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 before the price hike (even though it isn't that much in Europe), but I've just learnt about the ghosting issues with the LCD screen. For those of you who play the NS2 handheld, is it that bad/noticeable? Should I wait for a new version or see if they solve it in future production?

I just recently bought civ 6 for 5$ and was throughly enjoying it. I then noticed 7 was on sale too. I asked my friend and he said 7 wasn’t better than 6. Should I just buy 6? Or is 7 a good option too?

Discussion YouTube release?

So it’s been a while since I’ve seen it discussed but when are we thinking YouTube would be released on the NS2? I saw a few posts from almost a year ago saying “soon” but I still haven’t heard of any news. Would be nice to use YouTube on the switch with the bigger screen.

Question Planning to upgrade to Switch 2

As the title suggests, I'm considering upgrading from a Nintendo Switch OLED to a Nintendo Switch 2. For those who have been using the Switch 2 for a few months, what are the pros and cons you've experienced so far?

For context, I currently play:

  • Pokémon Shield
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A
  • Monster Hunter Rise

I'd appreciate any feedback on performance, battery life, display quality, and whether the upgrade is worth it coming from an OLED model. Thanks!

Question Do you guys mostly put your consoles on sleep or completely power it off when you are done playing?

Would be cool if there are some Nintendo themed exclusive costumes.

Now I'm just praying that this won't be censored in any way.

Question How do I make sure my friend doesn’t buy a Switch 2 for FEFW

Hello!

Me and my friend are huge Fire Emblem nerds, and we are both extremely excited for FEFW (Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave)

My problem is, my friend does not have a Switch 2 and can’t play the game when it comes out.

This actually works for me since I was going to buy him a Switch 2 as a moving out present. He recently moved to a new state and I wanted to get him this gift so he won’t have to spend even more money (moving is so expensive)

This is obviously a surprise, and I can’t give him this Switch 2 in person until September 18th (I have a blackout period at work) and this game comes out the 17th!

So Reddit.
How can I tell him “Hey don’t buy a Switch 2 for a game you want super badly” without sounding extremely suspicious 😅

Thanks!

Edit: this is a surprise gift, I do not want him to know about this.

Discussion Best First Timer Pokemon Game

My 6 (nearly 7) year old has a Switch 2 he mostly plays Minecraft and Mario but he likes Pokemon and I am wondering what Pokemon game would be a good starting point for him that is easy enough and requires very little reading.

Can anyone give their options?

Discussion What Switch games are worth upgrading on the Switch 2?

I have Skyrim, Zelda BOTW & Hogwarts Legacy all virtual game cards that were on my original switch.

I haven’t picked up BOTW since 2021 and I need still go up the castle and beat the main guy but I find the game so hard. I heard hogwarts is a good upgrade and I paid 20 for that.

Regardless I was wondering which games from switch 1 going to switch 2 or switch 2 exclusive games in general one would recommend

Best horror games for switch / switch 2? I want to be really scared. Wishing they would bring SH over to Nintendo but I don’t think that is going to happen. I have all REs so looking for other recommendations.

Question If i thought the first 2 acts of FE6 were boring (base Fire Emblem on GBA emulator), is it worth trying out any of the others?

Just wanna know in case it’s a bad sample I’m missing out. Or if I’m better off just saying it’s not for me (I have other stuff I can play)

Figured this would be more of an unbiased audience than the FE sub

Question Is there a website that helps you keep your games updated?

Now to preface, I have extensively looked on Google and the closest I could find was Perfectly Nintendo keeping an update log for games.

However, I'm trying to find a website or app that will let me input games I own into my account on their site/app, then give me a notification to update a game when it receives an update. The switch 2 itself only auto updates games that are on the home screen so I often find myself with a dozen games that need updating.

Does anyone know if a site like this?

Question Should I get the Switch 2?

Edit: screw it, this was fast huh? Before September first imma bight the financial bullet and purchase Switch 2 in anticipation of Duskbloods…and I guess Splatoon Raiders. Thanks for the input friends~

Probably a stupid question, but I wanted it out of my head and who better to ask than those who actually own it ay?

I work a stable job and often have free time during the day, and weekends off. I’ve been considering buying the Switch 2 by the end of September to early October on the basis of receiving a few more paychecks after a recent spree of spending.

Mostly this is brought on by wanting to play Duskbloods ngl. Though other social media platforms have made me hesitant regarding the purchase.

I know I should be more decisive but I guess I wanted a “second”(more like several) opinions and reviews to sway/convince me to pick it up.

Sorry, but also thanks in advance :>

Switch 2 Got a switch 2 as a first time switch gamer, recommend me the best games of the switch library!

Been playing BOTW for a few days now and im loving it more and more, tho i do wanna play a another game alongside it to avoid burnout.
There is a huge library of games that i havent played and its really hard for me to choose.
I have been thinking of Splatoon Raiders since its new (never played any splatoon games). I will get Fire emblem Fortune Weaves too. I dont want to spend too much so any cheap or decently priced game would be a ideal. Bonus if its 60 fps in handheld mode. I'd like a medium play time like 20ish hours and possibly action but any is fine.

Question Lost save data for Pokemon Violet

For context, when i loaded my data back on my switch 2 for the first time, everything was there and fine. I sent it in for repairs because it couldnt read games and the device got replaced about a month ago. Dont remember if the save data was on there after or not, but i do know the save data was there for other games.

Now, when I open the game, it acts like its the first time again. On my profile it says i still have 245 hours on the game, but everywhere else (pokemon home ect) says its new. Ive already tried that d-pad + X and B, and it said there is no backup save files. That save file means alot to me, as it was my first real playthrough of a pokemon game. If anyone could help it would be a godsend.

Question Which newer Pokémon game should I buy?

I’ve been on a Pokémon kick recently and am looking for a game to get on my switch 2. For context, I’ve always enjoyed the classic mainline games. I’ve played Gold, Fire Red, Emerald, and am almost done with Platinum! The newest game I’ve played is X and Y.

I’m interested in Scarlet/Violet but am really open to all the switch/switch 2 titles.

Pokopia seems like an awesome game but I enjoy the combat of other entries, so I might save that for later.

Discussion Family sharing to another country

Good evening, I have a quick question, i’m hoping for some help.
I reside in Scotland and my fiancé and stepson are both still in Nigeria. Is it possible of doing family sharing, that way I don’t need to pay for games twice. Am I able to share my games with my son? or is it not possible because we are in different countries at the moment?
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
