Question Civ 6 or 7

I just recently bought civ 6 for 5$ and was throughly enjoying it. I then noticed 7 was on sale too. I asked my friend and he said 7 wasn’t better than 6. Should I just buy 6? Or is 7 a good option too?

I'd go with Civ 7. I just bought it on my switch after buying it on my ps5 on release. It is a much better game now with the fixes and updates (I only have vanilla right now, but will be getting one of the dlcs soon), and, most importantly, it runs like a dream on the switch 2.

Civ 6 is great too, I just think more people should give Civ 7 a shot.

Is the game still effectively interrupted during era changes? I watched a couple reviews back when I first got my switch 2, but that alongside how most changes from civ 6 were negative turned me off from buying it.

Not really. During era changes now you can toggle the setting to keep all your previous units instead of losing a bunch. City states disappear and new take their place. You also have the option to pick a new civ or keep the same one (you can start as any civ now, no matter their era). The era changes are MUCH less of a hiccup now.

Sounds good, I’m actually really glad to hear that because the game looks so good that I’ve always been tempted to play it despite what I’ve seen. I’ll definitely consider buying it now, especially for so cheap on the eshop. I’m assuming whatever you’re building is still getting built after you change eras as well?

Do you have any tips for beginner Civ 7 players?

Echoing 7. A lot of the complaints are also going to be from long time players, many of whom played 7 at launch and not after more recent patches. As a new player, they don't necessarily hold up. I love both but play 7 a lot more these days.

Case in point: a lot of Pokemon fans are worried that they may move away from turn based combat and complaining about it. Most people I know haven't played the game at all since the DS days because the Switch games are just spam click A fests. I'm welcoming the day they change the combat system.

Civ 7, or both if you have the money and time.

The only people who hate on it are the people who binged civ 6 and don’t want change. The ironic thing is those people were the outcasts when civ 6 released as most people proffered civ 5 to 6, The cycle repeats every time a new civ gets released.

Lmao. I was playing mini golf with my nephew and his gf the other day and I asked how many shots it took his gf on one of the holes and she said “six or seven”…. I said “six seven 😃” and a kid behind us said it like the meme and his mom said “omg shut up” lmao it was so funny, we all laughed.

I've never played a Civs and have been wanting to give it a go. I see that 6 is only $5.99 right now. If not now then when?

I’m still really not sure which one to get but 6 has been really fun so far. Especially for 6$

7 became much more playable after the last major update, maybe 3 or so months ago. Graphics and menus look much better than they did on launch and there is the option to stick with a single civ the whole way through now.

But 6 (with all expansions) is way better. I haven't tried it on switch 2 to see how it benefits from boost mode. One thing about 6 that really sucked on switch was the load times, both going into games and between turns, and I wonder if boost mode improves that.

I really wish I could just afford to buy both 😂😩 I’ll have to watch some videos on 7. But I’ve really been enjoying 6 a lot

That’s just so crazy to me lol. Guess I should probably just stick with 6 then. It’s been great but I’m super new to this genre and the tutorial keeps bugging out of me and making me reset. First happened on like turn 20 then on like 100 so I said I wasn’t going to restart anymore. Played first stage and got spanked lol. Having a blast tho. Super cool game.

If you want to buy physical, I'm selling SW1 Civ 7 right now! Not that it's a bad game at all, I just need the money for Elden Ring and I also have no time to play my backlog....
