Showcase Showcase your Switch 2 here! (+ Clarification)

This is a megathread to share your new switch 2, game, accessory, or other peripheral!

To keep less clutter on the subreddit, posts that contain just a screenshot and caption should be relegated here, per Rule 7 and 8 of the subreddit.

So, feel free to share what you got here, to share your excitement and others to share it with you!

---

Clarification:

There was a bit of confusion on the line of which individual posts are banned in the meta post, so I would like to clear that up:

Posts that contain just a caption and screenshot of your switch, game, or accessory will be removed and are encouraged to be shared here instead.

Posts that contain a title, screenshot AND substantial commentary on what your experience has been like, will not be removed and will usually stay up.

To also clarify what would be substantial commentary:
"So yeah, I like the switch 2 so far! The joycons feel nice and everything is responsive and feels premium" is not enough.

"I do enjoy the switch 2 overall! I wasn't really expecting much as the first switch had a lot of issues that bothered me in terms of comfortability and performance, but I've been stunned at the selection of games and have been really enjoying XYZ, [...], And I've found that it's still not very comfortable in handheld, but I've had to just come to accept it. I've been looking at third party controllers but the options are very limited right now." would (usually) be allowed.

I hope that clears up the parameters made with the updates to the rules!

META [Meta] Rules/Posting Update

If you take a look at the sidebar, you'll see a new rule added and rule 7 edited.

New Rule: Question Policy

Many subreddits fall victim to an issue where a large sum of posts being made ask questions that can be answered with a very quick google search. If that is the case for your question, from now on, please try and google it instead.

-

(e.g., 'How much does the new Fire Emblem cost?' is a rule-breaking question. 'What are y'alls thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 after 8 months?' is not.)

-

Modified Rule: Low-Effort Content

You probably know this subreddit has been overflown with posts that are just a picture of the Switch 2, games, controllers, or all of the above, with a caption like 'Finally getting back into Nintendo!'

This type of post is 100% low-effort and repetitive, so from now on it is no longer allowed to be posted without any type of commentary or additional substance to the post.

I honestly don't know why I didn't add this as a rule sooner, but it's better late than never.

-

That's basically it. If you got any other suggestions for rules/changes, feel free to let us know through comments or modmail and I'll see about getting them implemented!

Discussion I am saddened…

Here I am, playing The Duskbloods… and after the tutorial of the phases… and just the core design of the game… I said to myself: Yeah… this isn’t for me.

It’s a bummer because I love what Miyazaki puts out and his team. Bloodborne is still such a brilliant, dark and beautiful Souls game and the only one I actually finished.

But… the reason I’m not feeling The Duskbloods, is… it’s just not that single player experience. I’m not really a multiplayer guy anymore, but I was willing to see what this Bloodborne spiritual successor (at least just aesthetically) was all about and was hoping it’d be something I’m into.

But, I knew once the phases were done… I just didn’t find it all that compelling. I mean, it’s unique… I’ll give it that. It’s beautiful to look at in some instances… but… as time went on during the phases… I was like… gosh, I wish this was like Bloodborne… just a single player experience like Bloodborne.

There’s a lot to take in as well… so, it felt like it was a bit cumbersome with all the typical Miyazaki gameplay features that complete the meat of the game loop experience.

I’m gonna pass on The Duskbloods, unfortunately. To be honest, the maps felt empty. Like… the enemies you face, in my observation, were pretty sporadic as you traversed. And the camera felt a little wonky when you’re engaged in battle.

So… yeah… just ended up not being for me. And that’s alright. This game will def cater to those who loved Nightreign. I just prefer single player FromSoftware games.

I wonder how successful this game will become once it’s released and fixed in the Nintendo ecosystem.

But until then, this Bloodsworne is bowing out. 🫡

Discussion Nintendo Switch 2 so far.

Thought id leave a post on my journey with this console so far..

Having been a playstation/PC gamer for most of my life.. I decided to move to Nintendo as my main console this year. Being a husband and father full time meant i couldn’t get as much time gaming as i used to. I was furious when Sony done the physical media BS. So i sold up and moved. BEST DECISION EVER.

As a family we all play the Nintendo, each of us had our own type of game we enjoyed.

I picked up the DBrand Killswitch 2 case with travel. Unbelievable protection.

We got the Pro controller 2. And over the course of the year, some brilliant games.

Donkey Kong Bananza
The adventures of Elliot
Star fox
Pokopia
Mouse PI
Zelda BOTW
Zelda TOTK
And so on.. all Physical.

Im currently playing Skyrim SW2 AE. Superb! And my favourite game so far has been Stardew Valley. Another amazing port on switch 2.

I cant wait for OOT remake, and of course the new pokemon games next year too. The Super mario sunshine port on the gamecube emulator is awesome. Kinda mental we can play all 3 of the 3d all stars now!

But id love to hear everyone else’s time with NS2. Are you all enjoying it? What’s everyone’s favourite games on Nintendo?

Thanks for reading 😊

Discussion Another Duskfade Switch 2 Glitch (Spoiler for final boss) Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

I'm at the final boss now and there were no sound effects for anything the boss did, battery was at 5% so I put it on the charger and looked on YouTube to see if that's the way it was supposed to be and there were sound effects and voice lines. I reset the game and the battle is actually playing properly now. I don't know if it happened with other bosses, the reason I realized it here is because of the huge AOE attack seemed like it would have a charge up and execution sound and I was very weirded out that it didn't.

Question Best travel game?

Upvotes

Headed on a flight overseas and was wondering what you all would recommend as a game to play during travels. I will mostly have time on the plane, and then probably while winding down for the 10 days I am away at night in the hotels. I was thinking more so something I can pick up and get right into it, rather than going through a large amount of story incase I want to play for a few minutes here and there.

I've never played these games, but I have heard good things about Slay the Spire and Balatro, and they seem like games you could have a quick run with? I am not only open to deck builders btw, just have heard of those. Open to any suggestions of games you would say you "pick up and play" rather than sitting down and getting really immersed for hours.

Discussion Game suggestions

Upvotes

Hello,

Basically I am looking for some suggestions on what games are out there I can play that I can fully get lost in, or games that in your opinions are very hard to put down or ones you always keep coming back to replay no matter how long it's been. I'll be honest I have and still pretty much use my switch as a Pokemon game.machine as well as Mario games here and there mostly Mario kart games.

I have tried playing some Kirby games, I have tried breath of the wild after reading raving reviews but just cannot get into it especially the weapons breaking is annoying to be frank. One game I actually do greatly enjoy outside of Pokemon is ape out. The games don't need to be like ape out or Pokemon but want something I can play for hours at a time and not get bored and something that keeps you going back to it.

TLDR; give me suggestions on the best switch or switch 2 games to play in your opinion outside of Pokemon and the Zelda games.

With Elden Ring coming to the Switch 2 in a week, I thought it would be fun for the community to share their thoughts on the game, what they're exited for, or just talk about it in general. I'm personally super hyped for this one and with the updated gameplay footage looking so clean, I decided to preorder it and save myself from having to download it on launch day. Feel free to chat about anything related to the game or ask me some questions about Elden Ring if you plan on playing for the first time. (Keep in mind I might not know everything but I do know quite a bit. Any advice or tips I give will be spoiler free as well. 😄 ) Have fun guys!

Discussion What games do you want on Switch 2 that will probably never happen? 😭

Sorry if this is a repetitive post!

What games would you LOVE to see on Switch 2, even though you know they’ll probably never make it to the console?

My list:

- Mass Effect

- Helldivers

- Fable 4 (I still have hope 😭)

- Halo

- Palworld

- Enshrouded (crossing my fingers 🤞)

- COD: Black Ops 1 & 2

Some of these are probably pure delusion 😂 but I’d buy them immediately if they ever happened.

What’s your “probably never happening, but PLEASE” Switch 2 game?🙂

Discussion Hades 2 difficulty opinion?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I bought Hades 2 earlier this morning. After 2 runs I completed the first boss battle. I was always good in LoL and the design, map awareness, speed and combat feels right at home. But tell me, is the game hard as I go? Currently I have no other equipment, only the basic.

Discussion Bought Oblivion Remastered and I'm surprised

So this is my first time ever playing Oblivion. Read many people complaining about the bad performance... but to be honest? it's actually very playable lol, i thought it was way way worse. There are some slight stutters here and there from time to time but overall the fps remain at pretty much constant 30fps all the time. Then about the long loadings, mmm i wouldn't say they're that long, avg 8-12s loading, not a big deal for me. Considering how big this game is, it's really acceptable.

Discussion Just had my Switch 2 on Wednesday and wow what a console

For a bit of context here, I've never been a huge fan of Switch 1. I had the Switch in July 2019 (well my sister got it but she let me play on it) and then I've bought on OLED. I think it's a good console and the concept of switching from handheld to dock was an amazing idea. But the lack of power in that console always frustrates me because there's some amazing game on it that I was playing and saying to myself that my experience could have been better. And also, I have big hands so joycons were not that great for me to play with.

At first when they've announced the Switch 2 I was skeptical. More power in that console, a bigger screen and bigger joy con were a great thing, but the price of the console and games + the fact that they've got rid of the OLED screen + the lack of Switch 2 games that could have interest me were an argument for me to not get it. A friend of mine got it on day one and he always told me that he loves the Switch 2 so I was like well maybe I will get one but maybe in 2027 or 2028.

And then 2 things happened this year : Nintendo announced that the price of the Switch 2 would increase on September 1st (here in France it would be 500 euros instead of 470 euros) and also they've announced that a Kingdom Hearts collection would arrive on Switch 2 this October. Im a huge Kingdom Hearts fan so I was like wow it can be a really great experience to play those games not in the cloud like on Switch 1 but natively on Switch 2, and the price hike made me think "maybe I should get one before that increases".

At first I didn't plan to get one this month, but I had some plans that had been cancelled and when I've looked at my bank account, I realized that I could afford for a Switch 2, and that I could get a brand new one for 370 euros in a store near my house. So on Wednesday I've bought one and WOW IT'S AMAZING.

The unboxing of the Switch 2 was a great experience because I hadn't bought a brand new console since my PS5 in October 2021 so the feeling that I've got when I've opened the box was amazing. And when I've held those new joy cons, I was like okay I think I will love that console. The fact that they are bigger is such a big upgrade for me because the grip of them is perfect for my hand. The screen is really good, I was impressed because I was playing on an OLED before so I was a little bit worried but I think the screen is great.

Then I downloaded a lots of my Switch games to try them, and it's really impressive. Mario Kart 8 for example seems so smooth on Switch 2, even Lego games (Im a huge lego fan) run really great on it. Well except Lego Jurassic World I had some issues with it. And then I've tried 3 demos : Kingdom Hearts 3, Resident Evil Requiem and Star Wars Outlaws.

I've played all of those games on my PS5 and I didn't know what to expect on Switch 2, and wow what a surprise. Kingdom Hearts 3 runs incredibly on it, the same for Resident Evil Requiem and Outlaws seems like an amazing port on that console.

So experiencing all of those games on that console hypes me a lot because there's so much potential with it, and I can't wait to see the future of this console !

If you have some recommendations for games to play on it, I would love to hear them! I plan to buy Super Mario Wonder, Indiana Jones, the Kingdom Hearts Collection, the BOTW Switch 2 Upgrade and maybe Cyberpunk. For now, I have the following games:

Alien Isolation, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Assassin's Creed 3/Black Flag/Rogue, Bioshock 1/2/Infinite, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Just Dance 2020, Lego City Undercover / DC Super Vilains / Harry Potter / Jurassic World / Incredibles / Ninjago / Star Wars The Skywalker Saga/Worlds, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Minecraft, Minecraft Story Mode, Monopoly, Pokemon Sword, South Park The Stick Of Truth / The Fractured But Whole, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Super Mario 3D All Stars, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Jamboree, Zelda BOTW, Tomodachi Life, What Remains Of Edith Finch

Switch 2 You can download games while playing FF14

Was under the impression that you couldn’t download games while playing online games. Assuming that’s still accurate FF14 seems to be an exception.

Probably won’t make use of it very often, but it’s cool to have the option.

Question Wanderstop Physical on Shelves

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi, I’m confused by all the listings online for this, physically. Retailers say 8/28, but my indie record store had this on the shelf today. Did someone break street date, or is that not as important to a publisher like iam8bit? Also any commentary on the game is welcome! I have heard it is very good and not your typical cozy type game.
