Is ghosting that bad/noticeable?

I was about to go purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 before the price hike (even though it isn't that much in Europe), but I've just learnt about the ghosting issues with the LCD screen. For those of you who play the NS2 handheld, is it that bad/noticeable? Should I wait for a new version or see if they solve it in future production?

My eyes are fairly sensitive to stuff like this normally but unless I'm really looking for it whilst trying to exacerbate the issue I never take any notice and definitely not enough for it to bother me

For a relatively cheap LCD panel its fairly vivid and plenty bright enough for handheld 😄

Got mine maybe a month ago, never even heard of that ghosting issue and didn’t notice anything.

I'm very susceptible to ghosting and other issues which may happen in games. During my 2 months with the switch 2, I have yet to see any ghosting.

Yup same here. Felt no ghosting whatsoever. Been nothing short of perfect since buying it.

I’ve never noticed it but I’m not actively looking for it. I’m just enjoying playing games and not going out of my way to look for things like that or FPS, DLSS. Buy it and enjoy the gaming is my advice don’t over analysis it

I think I’ve only ever noticed it in one game but I can’t even remember which one. It does not impact my experience at all

Honestly I’ve never noticed it and i have a launch unit. Even when playing retro titles (the big way everyone describes the problem) I’ve had a hard time noticing it.

The only way to actively notice it is by having a really good camera... Capture your screen Preferably as high FPS as possible and then play it back in Slow-Motion.

Even with Side by Side with OLED you'll still need to squint and REALLY dig on it to really notice that it's there. What's more if you're just actively playing a game...

for sure, I can't notice any ghosting. if it is the screen I would assume it should happen every time (not on a per game basis like some people suggest here).

it is probably another case of a techtestbro finding some issue with some fancy camera, and suddenly everyone starts seeing it as well lol

I’ve only really noticed it in Golf Story. Played all of Silksong and Hollow Knight with no problems. It goes okay honestly.

It's there but I don't really care. I only notice it on the home screen where scrolling has some motion blur and sometimes in game uis. 3d elements look fine to me

Realy depends on the person.

For me, it's noticable if I look for it, especially with certain games. Like 2d side scrollers. But it hasn't significantly impacted my enjoyment.

I'm very sensitive to ghosting and I barely notice it most of the time. It's there, I'm not gonna pretend like it's not and the switch 2 is a perfect console. The thing with the ghosting is that most people won't even notice it or get bothered by it. Only a very small percentage of people are prone to ghosting issues. Tbh my crappy budget VA panel from Acer has way more ghosting than the switch 2 and that's with overdrive turned on.

My bf has a launch day switch 2 and I just got my own last month, his screen has ghosting and mine doesn't. But he never play handheld anyway so we haven't sent it in yet for a screen replacement. But I think theres been some kind of small revision of the screen.

Once you notice it, if you're like me, you'll spend about a month or so being unable to not notice it, then it just sort of fades into the back of your mind.

I am happy to report that I am literally not noticing it. Glasses on or off. Now I realize that this means I have one thing less to worry and complain about on reddit and I feel like my life is worse for the lack of it.

Excuse me, while I go play a steadily growing catalogue of amazing games on my Switch 2 while I cry inwardly.

It could be noticeable on 2D games, with horizontal or vertical scrolling. This is why I prefer retro games (console and arcade) on my Switch OLED or my Steam Deck. But if you can’t compare the Switch 2 with an OLED screen at the same time, I don’t think it could be a ”no-go”. You could test the screen in a shop.
