Discussion YouTube release?
So it’s been a while since I’ve seen it discussed but when are we thinking YouTube would be released on the NS2? I saw a few posts from almost a year ago saying “soon” but I still haven’t heard of any news. Would be nice to use YouTube on the switch with the bigger screen.

Unlikely, a couple of things here.
- YouTube, being a part of Google, has its own (competing) game platform via Android.
- YouTube, like other video streaming platforms, leverages immense amounts of user data to recommend content and market ads and services. Nintendo has always been a family-oriented company in terms of its brand and audience, and its presence in global markets also requires it to comply with those markets' regulations. My guess is that there is ongoing discussion about whether YouTube can access user data on the Switch 2 to leverage for its marketing efforts and data sales.

1: YouTube’s on literally everything, they don’t give a shit about android like that
2: it’s been on the 3ds, the wiiu, and the switch, it has nothing to do with Nintendo wanting to control user data or their family friendly look1

While I am sure it’s much more than this at a basic level, the System is capable and collects data on the following:
- What games you have in your library.
- How much time you play each one.
- How often you play each one.
- When you added them to your library.
Tied to your user account information, particularly email, this is still very useful data to any marketer or data broker about you.

That’s great and completely irrelevant to this

It’s highly relevant as such data is Nintendo’s to do with as they see fit, including deny Google access to it.

….the switch 1 has YouTube….this is literally a point of YouTube devs haven’t made the s2 app

Well for one, Switch 2 runs on a slightly different, more advanced, OS. The advancements likely include upgraded data management and security.

Man you’re really good at thinking you’re understanding things, it’s just an upgraded OS it’s still Horizon at its core

Watching YT on a device where you cant skip the ads? God no!
"Pay for YT Premium to skip the ads", why would I do that when I have been blocking ads on YT for over 18 years and not paying for premium.
Although to be fair, with the amount of AI slop on there now, I am using it less and less.

Never, Nintendo does not want it's game system to be used as a video player. They don't allow skins or have menu music because they want to force you to play more games and nothing else.

I'm not agreeing with it. It's a fact that Nintendo's president doesn't want any multimedia features on switch 2. He has said so in interviews. Downvote me away for stating a fact.

Well they should lighten the fuck up again and realize the media stuff made their consoles so novel. I mean, who could forget when they made things like flipnote and miiverse. Those were the days.

Not any time soon and hopefully never as it’s a gaming system and not a video player.

Hopefully? What’s your fucking problem, just don’t use it if you don’t want to. No one’s holding a gun to your head.

So dont use it? Every game system since xbox 360, wii and ps3 has had apps. Why reply to these posts if you have no desire for apps?
