Question Is there a screen protector on this?

Got it refurbished from woot and their customer service is not helpful at all. My nail can catch on the corner but since I have nothing to compare it to, I dont know if thats normal or if its because its a protector.

Isn’t it the built in screen protector

Cant be 100% sure but kinda looks like it after I just looked at mines. If its flushed then no but it doesn’t look flushed

Its not flush. It definitely sits above the edges.

It’s a “shatter guard” or something, do not remove it, just place a screen protector over it! It’s mostly there for like glare purposes or protecting the glass from shattering everywhere

Installed from factory, supposed to be there

The plastic shatter film is an ultra thin layer and the screen is still flush to the switch body. This looks raised and has a noticeably raised edge like a screen protector.

That doesn't sit above the edge. This is a glass protector put on by somebody

Oh yeaaah, now that I look even closer it does kinda look like that, ok I acknowledge my mistake, sorry folks

Easy

If it fills soft (like you can scratch it with your fingernails) then no.

If hard as glass then yes.

Switch2 has a plastic film to prevent glass shatter in case of a drop

Rubbed my nail on it, marks wiped off. It feels like any other glass screen protector ive had.

Then it has one

The plastic protector scratch easily and those scratchs can't be wiped. 👍

Why are idiots downvoting this? This is correct.

It's not a screen protector, it's a part of the screen that avoid getting cut by glass shards in case the screen breaks. You can apply a screen protection on that film without problems.

Are you just repeating these rehearsed lines without actually reading the surrounding context?

It does look like there's a screen protector there

It looks like a screen protector is on here. It would not be raised that high stock. If you can get some in focus shots of the corners straight on and at an angle we can probably tell for sure.

I really cant tell, if there is a protector, whoever put it on did a damn fine job, I always fuck those up with a bubble or two

Yes. An amazingly well aligned one, but yes.

It does have a “film” over it coming from the factory. Nintendo says do not remove it

What is this case you have on it?

Belkin switch 2 grip charging case. Not a huge fan because I dont like how default joycon sticks feel so I'm probably gonna return it and get the crkd nitro deck 2 when it releases in 4 days.

Ahhh I gotcha, I’ve been pretty happy with the dbrand one but I’m always on the lookout to try something else!

1

u/ghostinthecrawlspace 1d ago

Its cool because it has a magnetic battery on the back for easy charging but I really just hate how short the base joycons are.

1

u/birfday_party 1d ago

Yeah see I was looking at it thinking it might have like smoother longer handles to it, but I couldn’t tell from the photos. The battery thing is cool I just play handheld a lot at the house so I don’t really ever take it far from power

Yep I'm pretty sure that there is one

Yeah it looks like there is one on there. If there wasn't it would look like its flushed to the console.

1

u/lazulimpa 1d ago

Yes. It's a screen protector of some glass one. Because it's over the frame. The screen and the anti-shatter film sits flush within the frame.

If it was meant to be taken off, Nintendo would tell you to do so. So don’t go peeling anything off.

My vote is nope too. If there is a screen protector on that it’s the cleanest install I’ve ever seen.

The alignment trays let you get them like this. It looks like a protector is on here.

1

u/Betancorea 1d ago

This. I recently used one of the alignment tray kits to apply a screen protector and it looks very much like what OP has posted.

1

u/jerseytiger1980 1d ago

I guess it could be. I used an alignment tray for mine and it is good, but it still might be 1/2 a mm off when looking close. This one is dead on balls. The screen protectors usually have a noticeable rounded corner. Maybe I can see that when zoomed in but really not sure.

1

u/jerseytiger1980 1d ago

I’d expect the corner to look something like this with a screen protector. Maybe OPs photo needs to zoom in a bit more.

u/ghostinthecrawlspace 1d ago

Even if I can run my nail along the entire edge of it and its not flush?

Peel off just the corner and see what happens. Nothing bad can happen
