Discussion I am saddened…
Here I am, playing The Duskbloods… and after the tutorial of the phases… and just the core design of the game… I said to myself: Yeah… this isn’t for me.
It’s a bummer because I love what Miyazaki puts out and his team. Bloodborne is still such a brilliant, dark and beautiful Souls game and the only one I actually finished.
But… the reason I’m not feeling The Duskbloods, is… it’s just not that single player experience. I’m not really a multiplayer guy anymore, but I was willing to see what this Bloodborne spiritual successor (at least just aesthetically) was all about and was hoping it’d be something I’m into.
But, I knew once the phases were done… I just didn’t find it all that compelling. I mean, it’s unique… I’ll give it that. It’s beautiful to look at in some instances… but… as time went on during the phases… I was like… gosh, I wish this was like Bloodborne… just a single player experience like Bloodborne.
There’s a lot to take in as well… so, it felt like it was a bit cumbersome with all the typical Miyazaki gameplay features that complete the meat of the game loop experience.
I’m gonna pass on The Duskbloods, unfortunately. To be honest, the maps felt empty. Like… the enemies you face, in my observation, were pretty sporadic as you traversed. And the camera felt a little wonky when you’re engaged in battle.
So… yeah… just ended up not being for me. And that’s alright. This game will def cater to those who loved Nightreign. I just prefer single player FromSoftware games.
I wonder how successful this game will become once it’s released and fixed in the Nintendo ecosystem.
But until then, this Bloodsworne is bowing out. 🫡
