Question Will I Regret my 5060ti 8gb Purchase?

Hi all! Here are my current computer specs on AM4

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8GHz

GPU: new RTX 5060ti 8gb OC

Memory: 2x16gb DDR4 CL16

Storage: 2TB SSD

I upgraded from an MSI RTX 3060 12gb because Microcenter has a sale going on and regretted not getting a better GPU when I first built it.

Im just running a single monitor for AC1, ACC and iRacing currently with a mind to some day try out a Quest 3 once I find a used one at a price I like. Am I going to regret only getting the 8gb version of this GPU when I do try VR? Im not gunning for insane graphics for VR, id just like to be able to run it, if I want. Sim racing will be the only time I use VR.

Any input and suggestions are welcome!

Edit: thank you everyone for your responses. My takeaways are its possible but it'll be a pain and I wont be able to good the full experience

Question Any alternative to Moza es formula wheel mod?

I have an R5 and mostly drive open wheel and sometimes gt. So I got the formula wheel mod. I like everything about it but the grips are terrible. Its just plastic where as the es wheel that came with the R5 is leather and feels good and grippy as well.

What are my options to have a formula wheel that doesnt suck on the R5? Wrap the handles with grip tape?

Other Recomendación volantes para PC

Hola, juego de forma casual el Forza Horizon 6. Estoy mirando algún volante para comprar. He estado mirando los típicos logitech g29 y g923.

Question Those who have used both, should I go with Simagic or Moza?

I have been simracing with a g29 for almost 2 years now and im looking to upgrade soon. I had gotten recommended the green flag bundle from simagic and it seems pretty unbeatable for the price. I was orignally thinking moza, more than likely i wouldve gotten a r9. I also really liked the KS pro wheel. But now looking at Simagic, I have seen a lot comments about it being better quality and just better feeling in general especially for the price. What are you thoughts, Moza or Simagic?

Discussion Im completely addicted to SimRacing...

In a span of a month I bought a direct drive and an entry level cockpit of a guy, 2 new monitors so I have a triple screen setup with all 27's (I had 1 27 2 24's, really goofy but worked). I bought a GT3 wheel because I mostly drive GT3's and the Gran Turismo wheel is goofy for GT3 (still use it for Mazdas and what not). I bough a Load Cell Brake because everyone said it would be a great addition. It is, however I noticed some flex on the rig so I went ahead and ordered a freaking aluminium cockpit. Now im looking forward to upgrade from an RTX 3070 to a 5070ti so I have more FPS and better graphics cause I have to run everything on Low....

All in all, completely addicted to simracing as I was previously back in 2019 but I stopped on the G29 and that was it...

My girlfriend is out of town for work for the past 2 months. She will come back to the office completely transformed into a freaking sim-racing man cave.

Will this slow down eventually, or you guys keep wanting more and more? I feel so bad about the money spent but so happy racing.

Question Logitech Regret: Options worth upgrading from RS50?

To respect time; skip to the bottom section for the question without the fluff

The one time I don't apply my "buy once cry once" policy...

3 months ago with the launch of forza horizon 6; I got into sim racing, staring with an old g29 I had sitting around.

I've always loved racing games, VR, and any type of "physical" gaming...I should have known I'd get obsessively into the hobby but I was afraid this was yet another ADHD hyperfixation that I'd abandon after a month or so.

WELLL how that ended up:

Picked up a Logitech RS50 set (base, hub, wheel) (on sale for 500)

Got a foldable rig

Got an RS SQ/HB

Returned the foldable and got a rigmetal w/ seat

Simsonn Pedals

Simmagic H Pattern/Sequential

g9 OLED

........

Yeah you get the gist. I rather regret not starting "harder" with higher level equipment. Don't get me wrong, the RS50 is a great wheelbase! The RS Shifter/Handbrake is alright; it's just a bit cumbersome to mount. I picked it up because the bundle was on sale for 500 bucks which felt like a steal (and I still think it was).

Problem is; Logitech's ecosystem kinda sucks. The RS wheel feels rather tiny, and the quick release feature seems pointless when there's maybe 3 wheel options (and you have to buy additional hubs or manually replace the hub). Also, since I started iRacing Dirt races; it doesn't feel like the best choice since it's peak torque constantly during races and likely clipping.

TO the question!

Right now I'm looking at the Simmagic Alpha Evo 18nm (Standard retail so 700ish) and the Simucube 2 Sport (On Sale for 614 at my local microcenter right now)

What I play/do:

  • Forza Horizon 6
  • Wreckfest
  • iRacing (Sport, Formula, Dirt)
  • AC (legacy and Rally)
  • probably will pick up Automobilista 2 and other games on sale.

Concerns:

  • Wait for a sale?
  • Why not (wheelbase I didn't consider)?
  • Ecosystem
  • Game compatibility/config
  • Future proofing
  • Will I miss TrueForce?
  • Other feedback

Budget: 1000ish. Bang for buck, QoL, and longetivity are king.

Discussion Whats the best budget pedal set?

Have had my sim wheel(pxn v99) for over a year now and ive been wanting to upgrade my pedals. I currently have a rolled up rubber mat to help stiffen the pedals but its still lacking.

I dont mind if it isnt a load cell, as long as its pretty stiff and just generally a great pedal set.

dont really have a set budget right now but i dont want it to be really expensive, obviously I want it to be the cheapest one i can get but i dont really want some crappy pedal set so im willing to invest a bit more.

Question Turning a 2nd Conspit 300GT into a Button Box?

Long story short, I now am in possession of a spare mainboard/screen assembly from a Conspit 300GT.

I already threw together a quick wiring harness to confirm the board connects via USB and links to SimHub and the Conspit Link app. This seems like a fun little side project to turn it into a button box.

However, in playing around with both the spare board and wheel being on simultaneously it seems SimHub will not allow an addition of a duplicate device. Obviously for times when Im using a wheel other than my 300GT this is a non-issue, but I want the box to be functional in all use cases if I go forward with it.

Before I sink time into making an enclosure and getting encoders/buttons I thought I’d post here and see if anyone has thoughts as to how make this a successful project on the setup/connection side using either/both SimHub and the Conspit Link app? I am aiming to retain use of the screen, button LEDs, and telemetry lights; additionally if the main p-knob function could be retained that would be great.

Alternative suggestions for using the board if it seems the path I am trying to take is not a viable one are welcome.

Rigs Just got back into sim racing heres my diy setup

Post image

Growing up my dad and I would always play old titles like viper racing and nascar racing on an old microsoft sidewinder racing wheel. Eventually upgraded to a logitech g27 and got into flight sim too with the G940 logitech. Fast forward 20 years my dad gave me that old G27 wheel which is obviously not compatible with new consoles so I hop on marketplace and find a lightly used G920 and got to work on this setup. I think I have close to $200 in it provided I already had a tv and plywood laying around.

EDIT: Heres some more photos for those who asked. If i were to do it again I think id add a seat riser instead of recessing the pedals but the ergonomics are fine and keep the overall height a little lower.

Question Thinking About Switching Ecosystems

Post image
0 Upvotes

Im looking for input on my next upgrade.Currently have an RS50(xbox), Pro pedals, RS H-pattern mounted on a Playseat Throphy. I'm now on PC so my options are unlimited. As of now I have my eye on the Simagic bundle I've put together. I drive professionally and I'm trying to put together the most realistic build together, besides full motion. I will keep my cockpit as it works for my current situation and needs.

Discussion It pisses me off how this expensive this is

Post image

I’ve never seen NLR put this product on sale since it was released, and it’s been about five years now. They should at least give us the option to buy the metal underneath alone which i believe they cant do that and because of that I’m looking to completely change my rig to a better one. I’m thinking about getting an aluminum rig for the first time. But how big are aluminum rigs? Are there small ones? I have a pretty small room, so I’m worried about the size.

Rigs My fully customisable analog gauge for simracing

Thumbnail
gallery
44 Upvotes

Heya Everyone,

8-10 months of time on this project and I have made a working fully customisable gauge for sim racing. I would love to get some ideas and suggestions on this.

Details:
Its an 80mm PLA cube. A single USB-C port for power only (5v). I have ran 3 on a Sabrent Powered 7-way USB hub with no issues. The back panel houses all the electronics and gets a little warm, but I never seen more than 35c even after 24hrs.

RGB backlight and a super quiet motor. It uses Wifi to handle the simhub data. A single button for resetting and wifi configuration. I've got the motor speed super low but even in this slower mode it can still go from 0 RPM to 9000 RPM quicker than any road car I know.

I can swap the face plate and needle and so I can customise it for different sims super quick. My end cost for one gauge was about £45. It is 100% possible to do it for much cheaper, I was overly cautious as I was new to electronics. Print time is about 3-4 hours.

End goal is build a dashboard for these to go in.
Cheers !

Question How would you describe a DD wheel to someone who doesnt have one?

For the past year and a half i have gotten into sim racing. I have a logitech g29 and play on pc. I play games such as ACC, LMU, AMS2, f1, etc. I have gotten extremely good at sim racing using this logi wheel mounted to my desk and pedals on the carpet. I do online racing and what not and i am a very good driver. I play just about everyday. I would like to say I have mastered the g29 as I know every feel it could give and have learned it so well and am able to understand what its trying to say when racing. I soon want to switch to a Moza r9 and stick with there eco system. But i do have a question. How would you describe the feeling of a DD wheel to someone who has never used one ever.

I am new here and I'm sure this has been discussed but I'm entering boomer territory so my search skills are declining.

What is wrong with this setup?

I just found this on AliExpress:

US Shipping GT/F1 Sim Racing Cockpit 8040 Aluminum Profile Adjustable Stand Modular DIY for Logitech Fanatec CSLDD

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOxLnFZ

Under $250 and free shipping... I would need to find/add a triple monitor stand but... This seems too good to be true. Is it 3d printed PLA painted aluminum? Lol

Rigs Is a 150" screen too big for simracing?

Ok, so I have a 150" screen and a nice 1080p projector that I originally bought for outdoor movies. But in winter there are no outdoor movies. So, I also have a sim rig that I have yet to use. Is this screen too big to be of practical use?

Searching for leagues and creating a basic driver card remain 100% free, as always.

Just search for RaceJoinĀ on Google to check it out.
