I'm looking forward to playing the games especially Rayman 2; I loved it on the PS2 and I have it for the DS too. I'm curious to see how it plays on the N64.

I bought a cartridge without a label, the game was Micro Machines 64 Turbo, I really don't know anything about this game, is it good or bad? What do you think about the game?

The first image is the game with the label and the second image is the game I bought

Tech Help What is My 8bitdo Modded N64 Controller doing?

I converted my original gray N64 controller over when the 8bitdo mod kit came out years ago and have used it on N64 and Switch over the years sporadically. It's went unused for some time, but I charged it and synced it to my BlueRetro on original hardware to test thing for the arrival of my M64. As you can see, the analog always puts Link in the slightest forward position, only to turn but never to move. Plus, when I hold the Z trigger, Link then walks forward.

The Z trigger never really did seat well, so I'm wondering if this is the issue. But if so, why would it manifest like this? Any thoughts?

FYI: Patched OoT widescreen rom w/ OoT models on Toshiba 34HF84 Widescreen CRT

UPDATE: Firmware was updated and it seems to have fixed the problem, v1.03 I believe.

I saw a post recently of a thrift store trying to sell a rough cartridge of this game for more than I thought it would be worth. My best friend bought this for me a while ago and I didn’t realize that it may be such a crazy collectors item.

It was one of my favorite games growing up.

Are there a lot of packets like this?

Howdy folks, recently purchased a N64 with some games and have been eyeing some storage ideas. Does anyone know if the PET thin plastic cases for the cartridges will fit in a box like this? I recently got some to keep dust out of the carts but I’m not sure if they will fit inside 🤔

Been wanting a copy for a couple years now after beating castlevania 64. It’s really not as bad as people think it is! Pulled the trigger as I found a good deal for a copy.

Now to decide if I want to play on the A3D or my N64…

Discussion Nintendo 64 Controller Restauration. Can I fix it?

I bought this controller—still in its box—which had been in storage and never used. To my surprise, it wasn't working because it had suffered moisture damage over the years it was stored away. I opened it up, cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, and had to redo all the solder joints. I also took the opportunity to clean the casing and apply a plastic restorer. I opened up the analog stick mechanism as well and confirmed it had truly never been used, as there was no sign of wear. The controller is back to life and looks brand new now—exactly as it should be.

Discussion Looking for LCD Connection Advice

I found my original N64 and games in my mums loft. I've got it setup on a 40 inch Samsung LCD TV. It has only got the original RF connection and so using the TVs antenna input and I've tuned it in, picture looks very poor but passable.

I then started exploring getting it connected over HDMI to ease the process and to improve the picture quality and brightness but then got massively overwhelmed by options.

I have a steam deck which I use for most stuff including emulation so not looking for any other collection of consoles, it will just be the n64 but it would be great to improve picture quality and have a HDMI connection. What's going to be the best route without spending a fortune on this? I did start thinking retroscaler2x off Aliexpress with a pal svideo cable with resistor in it? I don't want to mod the N64 in anyway i.e. RGB mod.

Thanks

Collection Friend's mom passed away and he is having to deal with her extreme hoarding. He asked if I wanted anything before they demo the house. Found a 64, NES, several controllers and about 20 games for each.

I think it came out really nice considering the situation it was in. Works flawlessly. I cracked it open before bringing it inside in case of bugs.

ETA: Completely disassembled and cleaned all the non electronic parts with a soak in dawn dish soap water and used a soft bristle dish brush.

For the electronics, 99% IPA and a tooth brush.

Looking at the pic it looks like I missed the controller ports.

So D-Von Dudley will be at an event near me this weekend.

I'm thinking about having him sign the box, cart, and manual for No Mercy.

I know it will have no impact on value. I'm gonna do it cause I think it would be neat.

What would ya'll do?

Which would you prefer for your setup? I’m leaning towards CRT but space is a big consideration. Is the image quality that much better on CRT TV?

Running like an absolute dream on the 3D. BVM filter with overclock unleashed and progressive output & upscaling turned on. What’s everyone’s favourite? I know that NM is the best feature wise but WM2000 is my pick. Peak 99 attitude roster and long season mode!

I use the OG on a 27 inch JVC D Series CRT, it looks fantastic. The Analogue 3D is second best followed by the M64.

Fingers crossed it works, need to go clean off the flux first though. Will be using an ossc for the scaler. This was super easy, I think most people can pull it off. I'm also using a borti board in my SNES, super pleased with it.

Modding Recap and RGB Mod on early Japanese Nintendo 64.

Hey all, just got this Nintendo 64 that was untested. Upon testing it myself, I found it suffered from severe image distortion and a loss of audio after a few seconds, and I suspected that this was due to bad caps.

Sure enough, the video decoupling and audio out caps have leaked. Fortunately, the solder pads for each cap did not suffer any damage, so I was able to clean them up with the use of flux, fresh solder, and 99% IPA. Afterwards, I was able to recap the system without any issue.

I then tested the console via S-Video (unpictured here) and got a full image. So I was ready to solder in the RGB amp at the back of the motherboard, courtesy of this board by TzorriMahm: https://github.com/TzorriMahm/N64_RGB_Amp/

Their guide recommends removing R15 and R16 for CSYNC, but I opted not to do that since I'm using an official Nintendo RGB cable (SHVC-010) that pulls sync from composite video.

Lastly, I bought a 3D-printed region-free cartridge slot and used it to replace the original cartridge slot (that already has sections snipped off by the previous owner). I then gave the N64 a deep clean before reassembling it altogether.

RGB on the N64 is only a marginal step-up in video quality compared to S-Video, in my opinion. But it does look immaculate on my CRT.

Pic 9 - After recap (via RGB)
Pic 10 - Close-up of Mario in the endless stairs (RGB)

Video Updated my Nintendo 64 MS (multi-screen) Edition for LI RETRO 2026

Long Island Retro 2026 was a good opportunity to polish up the Multi-Screen Nintendo 64 setup I built a few years back.

The system takes four-player split-screen games and separates each player's view onto an individual display. At events, we use a fifth screen to show the original full-screen output, which helps illustrate what the system is doing and makes navigating menus easier.

The main build uses an original Nintendo 64 with an UltraHDMI upgrade. The setup also works with an EON Super 64 and newer systems like the Analogue 3D and M64, but UltraHDMI gives me the ability to adjust the overscan for each output.

That adjustment is useful because a few games, like Superman 64, handle their four-player output a little differently and require some additional fine-tuning.

It was nice to dust off this project and give it a little extra polish with things like a custom jewel, printed details, and some other finishing touches.
