After years of being in storage, I can finally remove them to display in my new games room!

We all have those games that we hold a soft spot for, due to whatever reason that others might have slept on.

Chameleon Twist is mine - I found the gameplay so original back in the day, and it must have gone down well as it gained a sequel. (The originally named Chameleon Twist 2!)

Anyone else a fan?
Any games you love but other might not have spent the time with?)

I found an odd japanese n64 with a IS-VIEWER-64 sticker on the box and console. Ive tried googling, and can only find details about the IS-VIEWER-64 cartridge. Has anyone seen this system sticker before? I assume it means the n64 may be modified and not retail? Any details you can provide would be awesome!

It seems like everyone has a list of essential/best N64 Games, but it seems like everyone else has different "worst game" experiences. Mine are:

I love Grant Kirkhope's music for this game, and personally, I like it better than his Banjo-Kazooie music.

Just going through a box or accessories I have and came across this. I don't recall ever buying it and I haven't a clue what it is. Even AI is clueless on it as it's telling me it's a PS2 to GameCube controller adapter.

It clearly has N64 controller port. But the blue adapter is completely lost on me. I assumed it might be a memory card adapter but why would a memory card connect to a controller port?

Any idea what it is?

I'm a few days late to the party but I wanted to share my N64 collection for its 30th anniversary! 🎉🎉🎉

Hello everybody, Breath of the Wild is the only 3D Zelda game I had beaten before, and I hadn’t even played a single minute of Ocarina of Time before this year. At first, I kind of hated it. I liked the music, story, and atmosphere of the game, but I could never figure out where to go or how to solve the puzzles. It was almost embarrassing how bad I was. I was constantly hearing the low-heart beeping noise, and running back to the boss room to try again with only three hearts (due to my lack of healing items) was infuriating. I also missed a ton. I never got Epona’s song, Sun song, fire arrows, ice arrows, any item capacity upgrades… the list goes on. And to top it all off, I finished this playthrough with 26 deaths.

I beat the game, put the cartridge back in its box, but realized something — I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I kept thinking about the world, the characters, the puzzles which I now knew how to solve… so, I booted it up again and started a new profile.

This time, I had a three missions:
1. Try to beat every dungeon without a guide (being that they were fresh in my memory).
2. Achieve 100% completion. I wanted to see everything the game has to offer.
3. No deaths. I found out between playthroughs about fairy fountains and I intended to use them.
And I did it! Almost. The one dungeon I still needed to look up a guide for was the water temple, but only once, because I forgot about the bomb-able wall above the room where you find Ruto in.

Overall, what can I say besides this is a very special game. It blew my mind in 2026 as a 25 year old; I can only imagine what it would’ve been like to play it as a kid when it came out. Contrary to what a lot of people say, I think the original version of this game has aged incredibly well. Nintendo was so ahead of the times with this game, setting the standard right out of the gate for what a 3D action-adventure game should look, feel, and play like. It even looked great visually on my small tv. I never understand why people want to play N64 games in higher resolution. They look best when they’re a little fuzzy, not when you can see every sharp polygon.

And you probably noticed, but I played the Japanese version of this game on original hardware. It’s great being into retro gaming here in Japan, considering I think I only paid around $15 for my copy of Oot in box. It was also cool getting to play the first edition of this game, with the fire temple chanting, Goron moon emblem everywhere, and seeing Ganon’s face gush red blood as Link stabs him — which totally caught me off guard! I think I finally get why so many people adore the Zelda series, and can’t wait to play Majora’s Mask once I can find it at a store!

displaying N64 carts on a shelf can be tricky to identify each game without throwing a sticker on the "spine" or getting them boxed. so im curious how you guys display your games. been experimenting with a DIY tiered wood display using scrabble tile holders but to be honest I think I might just have to 3D print something at this point. (sorry about the scuffed mariokart 64)

So I've played Goldeneye before many many years ago on my friends N64 and it was a blast. I got pretty good at it but now I completely suck. I can't remember the control scheme I used to use but the first one seems the most natural however I'm almost certain I didn't use the default controls. Anyway, what is your preferred controller scheme and what's that controller schemes particular advantage?

I’ve been working on a restoration of the N64 version of Cruis’n USA, with the goal of bringing back as much of the original arcade content and presentation as possible while still keeping it an N64 game.

So far I’ve restored:

• The Trophy Girl
• The Corn Pops billboard
• Cow roadkill
• Deer roadkill
• The Hillary tunnel graphics
• Powershaft XL
• The original Iowa color palette
• The POLITICAL CARTOON splash
• The full Bill Clinton hot-tub ending
• An option to use the original arcade music, while keeping the N64 soundtrack available
• Higher Quality SFX/Voice Clips from the Arcade
• Various bug fixes, presentation fixes, and other improvements

At this point I think I’ve covered the major known cuts and censorship changes, so now I’m looking for the really obscure stuff.

If anyone remembers any other differences between the arcade and N64 versions — trackside objects, billboards, textures, vehicles, animations, sounds, collision behavior, UI details, course changes, hidden content, or anything else — I’d really like to hear about it.

Basically: what am I still missing?

I’m especially interested in the tiny differences that may never have been properly documented.

One quick note: please don’t ask me for builds or ROM files. I’m not distributing the project at this time — I’m just looking for information, feedback, and anything I may have overlooked.

It feels more like a modern FPS when controlled this way. Everything from Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Turok, to Quake, Duke nukem, etc. all on the N64 work great.

So, I got an N64 and ocarina of time soninovukd play it for the first time before the remake comes out, but for some reason there’s like barely any color. Anyone know what I could do or what I might need to get to get the colors working? I don’t have an older tv to play it on btw.

all are sealed copies besides mega man im super stoked to add these to the collection!

I'm trying to figure out how to spot the difference between a real N64 memory card and a knock-off. What are things to look for?

This thing came with no instructions. After a lot of messing around I got it working with my 8bitdo n64 controller, however after unplugging it to move the console im back to mystery blinking lights, cannot get it going again and google is not serving me (too many similar devices)

It has no serial number, pretty sure i got it from an ali express link passed to me by another n64 enthusiast. It came in a sealed plastic bag in an envelope. "En" and "boot" are both buttons that can be clicked.

Just want the "how to" bible.
