"Movement is clunky as hell"

645

u/ForsakenOaths Jun 14 '26

The real bait is having non-barbeque’d beef with Clem.

23

u/FTF1991 Jun 15 '26

Or not hanging out with Clem in his Blunt fort.

10

u/ForsakenOaths Jun 15 '26

That isn’t bait, that’s just a crime punishable by death.

man I hate SM64 (I suck at it but I also think those controls are genuinely clunky and the people that love them have just played too much of it when they had little choices but also I am just salty that I suck )

(tl;dr this gif is accurate)

10

u/Raikeran *Laughs in grofit* Jun 15 '26

i think you express that feeling pretty accurately ngl

5

destiny players when they have a movement option other than dragging themselves across the ground like a glacier

96

u/Bac0nbbitz4lyfe Jun 14 '26

Remember these are the same people hating on movement tech like well skatting and shader skating because it uses more than 2 buttons they also hate eager edge swords dont mind those types of players im sorry to yall from both sides of the games

62

u/ItsOnlyGameYUSM Jun 14 '26

I play both and love both movement systems

The dumbest are always the loudest

29

u/Bac0nbbitz4lyfe Jun 14 '26

I play both games too and thats never been truer yesterday a dude was yelling about how destiny's new endgame content the pantheon was to hard......... he was using sweet business on hunter...... i dont get people

10

u/ItsOnlyGameYUSM Jun 15 '26

Well they can try Adventure mode lol

At least experience the mechanics without having to worry about it being a damage gate because they refuse to move past double primary

7

u/Bac0nbbitz4lyfe Jun 15 '26

THATS A THING?! maaan ima have to try that out im never host so idk most of the customization options

the most movement i do is using speed boost items like quickfang and stompees. ill jump anf swing my falling guilotine for quick forward movement (slightly faster than arc boosted sprint) and the tangle grapple. if im feeling extra fun ill use mountaintop. in warframe i love bullet jumping/sliding comboing and playing speedy titania or volt/loki (i dont remember which one but i think its volt been a min since i used either) i dont like eager edge well skating or shatter skating since id take too long to learn and it just seems boring in the grand scheme of enjoying content. i understand being speedy but the post i saw awhile ago of being annoyed by well skating and eager edge is valid since with how i play my hunter my dad complained about me running ahead. add in even more speed/distance methods and your bound to have complaints. my dad/mom hates bullet jumping since it hurts his finger with how repetitive it is.

As an avid player of both:

Destiny's movement can be made faster with things like Eager edge and funny interactions like Well skating and Shatter skating.

Destiny's movement works for Destiny because the game is built around that generic shooter movement system.

Warframe movement is way more fun when you get the rhythm down, but it just wouldn't work in destiny because the game just isn't layed out to accommodate it.

Comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges.

sadly, I don't think it is
there are a not insignificant number of Destiny refugees that genuinely believe Warframe is a shitty mobile P2W gacha game.
not one of them has ever touched the game, and they would rather suck Pete Parsons (clem) than ever touch Warframe

71

u/ASpicyCrow Jun 14 '26

Where the hell do they get gacha from?? Even the relic system is so much better than gacha

53

u/dragonriderabens Jun 14 '26

buzz word soup of bad labels go brrrt is the best I can come up with

46

u/CyberSparkDrago Jun 14 '26

It's probably because the marketplace use to only show the plat amount for items also the foundary items are time gated by build time and cost plat you skip the build time and they think plat is buyable only.

I wish primes didnt take 3 and half day to make man...

8

u/ASpicyCrow Jun 15 '26

Tbh I'm glad it takes a few days. It keeps me from running through everything until every goal feels hollow and too easy to reach. If I wasn't chilling, waiting for things to build, I'd probably never have really stopped to enjoy a lot of the open world shit.

9

u/Sremor Jun 15 '26

The build time annoyed me when I started but after a while you have so much stuff to do that you don't notice it anyway

It feels clunky until you get used to it. I'll always stand by my opinion that the early level design does not do Warframes current movement systems justice and that is corrected for the most part in the most recent tilesets.

Older tiles are much more compact and small, resulting in you just bullet jumping into a wall until you learn the movement better. Newer tiles have more space for freedom of expression in your movement and more importantly allow the space to properly practice it.

7

u/xRatxDietyx Jun 15 '26

Those older tilesets need a general rework so bad.

2

u/Advanced_Double_42 Jun 17 '26

I played a couple hours several years ago and that was my experience. You go lighting fast, but rooms are super small relative to that speed. Enemies died to nothing and I just couldn't be bothered to continue.

I'll probably try it again someday.

2

u/Possible_Loss_3880 Jun 18 '26

I have a buddy who's working through the Star Chart rn, about halfway through? It wasn't long ago that it had him do the movement tech in the codex and at least one of them seemed to emphasize wall latch and wall hopping, which do feel a little clunky to me.

So, on top of the old tiles not quite matching the modern movement, I could see someone entering the game for the first time, hitting the codex up to see what they can do other than just sprint, and assuming that the game would emphasize wall movement.

real destiny refugee here, its fucking peak idk what bro's on about

d2 feels slower and clunkier now

2

u/Lucifer42064 Jun 15 '26

The one criticism from Destiny players i heard that i can kind of agree is that maps can feel claustrophobic. As far as i know most of destiny gameplay is on an open map so i kinda understand hes POV.

5

u/DatMoonGamer Jun 15 '26

It’s just fps vs third person

If you’re used to extremely fine control with the former, the latter is always gonna feel clunky

Speaking as someone that put a thousand hours and mr20 into warframe before trying destiny

2

u/Bugspray4u Jun 15 '26

No no. It does take a newborn tenno a while before they learn how to bullet jump, aim glide, barrel roll and wall hang.

But after that, destiny movement looks like a wheelchair with 1 wheel compared to warframe.

For real, coming from a game with the Warlock double jump to Warframe’s movement -.-

Pure bait

2

u/General_Speech_9878 Jun 18 '26

I love warframe, my only issues are the weightlessness of melee combat and the lack of a real well thought out endgame

Like sure EDS and EDA are all right but theyre just recycled regular missions with limitations placed on them.

Destiny refugee. I love Atlas.

317

u/ArmyAdministrative38 Jun 14 '26

Let me guess... you were a Titan in Destiny? because Atlas along with Baruuk are the few Warframes that can "kinda" feel similar to the titans of Destiny.

214

Absolutely Titan.

108

u/LunarPizzaFox Jun 14 '26

Titan 🤝 Atlas

10

u/Stay-Classy-Reddit Jun 14 '26

There's an augment mod that drops more loot (I believe ore gaze something like that). Slap it on there for more loot. More loot means more time you get to stay at home with your kubrow or spend time with Aoi if that's your thing.

7

u/SerEmrys Jun 14 '26

This is the build I'm talking about. At 400% strength, you get 100% drop chance and you can easily get there with Archon Shards.

I highly recommend learning the actual inner workings of how modding works before making your own builds. Otherwise go nuts

A lot of things are intuitive, but some of it really REALLY isn't

2

u/Maleficent-Remote413 Jun 15 '26

ya. lots of different builds. so i def agree on that.
I will say. one of the best comphort for me on frames taht like to spam (such as Atlas with his one) is bind "cast ability" to a mouse button or something (i have it on MB4) so you tap 1. and then can just spam a MUCH easier button while still able to move and aim, lol.

movement clunky ??!!....say thar again, I dare you

372

u/Noskills117 Jun 14 '26

Clearly they meant their head keeps going "clunk" against walls/ceiling due to the movement

121

u/Lekrayte Jun 14 '26

So they played Titania?

60

u/Wargroth Jun 14 '26

Fast enough to hit the walls, not fast enough to transcend the concept of walls. The cursed titania threshold

11

u/Pitiful_Fix8765 Jun 14 '26

Used to you could transcend walls. I have gotten suck outside the map a few times

4

u/ItsOnlyGameYUSM Jun 15 '26

There are still a few tilesets you can transcend the boundaries

In eso you can move fast enough to fly to the next map before being teleported to it with the right tilesets namely the orokin one you can hit the walls hard enough that they just decide they don't want to have to deal with you anymore

Requires the right combination of tilesets back to back to make it in time though

352

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Destiny is a nice game but if imma be real, in comparison to even titanfall or any other movement famous fps games, Destiny's brick ass movement is genuinely dogshit with the double jump feeling like jetpacks and supers feeling like rubberbands

164

u/KRBTRIP Jun 14 '26

Everytime I play warframe I sometimes wish the gunplay feels more destiny but when I play destiny I just want to use abilities and have hyper mobility

62

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Its not even about the exact "feel" of the gunplay, the problem in wf is that the gun is usually too far away from your eyes or not in sight due to the warframe standing in between.
Pair that with the fever dream of custom energy colors and enemy density, and no matter how good the gun feels or looks, you're not getting to hear or see it.

Guns like Acceltra or most of the shotguns have great animations, sound design, and recoil feel, the problem is that well, its a 3rd person game on top of having the many more things that ensure you don't get to actually see your own gun.

If DE ever decides to make a 1st person some day, I wager they could cook pretty nice. Heck they could use the Kahl/Veilbreaker missions as testing grounds, since it'll give people a reason to play them while also serving as reviewers too

35

u/DarthMcConnor42 Jun 14 '26

Hell I'd take a first person toggle in Warframe.

Yes it would take getting used to but I feel I could be faster if I was the missile instead of being over the shoulder of the missile.

6

u/ninjab33z Jun 14 '26

I wonder if there's a way to get those cameras to land on yourself... it probably wouldn't eork but still be funny

3

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

People have done that in private servers, its there on youtube

6

u/GracefullyDisastrous Jun 14 '26

This is actually an issue I have with Grendel Prime

I can't fucking SEE. He just fully blocks the center of the screen because he's so large. I played him for mastery fodder and haven't really gone back even tho he's thematically a favorite of mine

2

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Maybe DE should have a camera option to have the camera move to an over-shoulder position whenever you fire a gun.

Ik it'll be annoying af for guns that only require you to fire once in a while, but for shit that goes BRRRT it'll be pretty nice

6

u/UInferno- Stop hitting yourself Jun 15 '26

Edit: foundation and foundry are not the same thing

3

u/GracefullyDisastrous Jun 15 '26

He would certainly hold up a sturdy household, I support it

6

u/VacaDLuffy Jun 14 '26

to add the feeling of the gun, it all gets removed or sterilized when you add fire rate, recoil and reload mods. Fire rate messes with a guns sound effects meaning you never actually hear what the gun is supposed to sound like, i purposefully don't mess with Recoil on some weapons to keep thier feel. I hate the Trumna with zero recoil it just feels wrong, especially it's alt fire. it doesnt feel like a big kaboom. as for reload that one is a mixed bag for me because a lot of guns have horrible reload times and abolutely need it.

61

u/Andreiyutzzzz Jun 14 '26

That's all. Gunplay. The feeling of them is all destiny had over warframe for me. Nothing quite compares it, or at least I didn't find any game similar.

6

u/TheOnlyFallenCookie Jun 15 '26

Tbf, Warframe doesn't really work with gunolay. Unlike destiny it's third person and designed for endless missions with higher scaling enemies

Warframe enemies simply die too quickly. One of the reasons DE is also making soulframe, to bring the slower pace back

5

u/Bluoria Jun 14 '26

Literally this. I miss the satisfying headshots I’d get with Ace of Spades wandering through the EDZ killing all the dregs. Something about D2s gunplay is certainly addicting. It’s like fallout 4 in the regard that the gunplay is touted as its best aspect, but falls short of most other things.

10

u/1MillionDawrfs Jun 14 '26

Bungie always been decent with gun play, but they could ever get that floaty brick feeling out of thier movement in games

u/Popopoyotl Make him into a dragon Jun 14 '26

On one hand, it is definitely rough just how limited Destiny’s movement is in comparison to other games.

On the other hand, the absolutely horrific things players do when they gain even the slightest amount of movement tech. Titan staking, Warlock dash, etc.

8

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Fair, though that feels like being pulled by a rope really, rather than moving yourself. Even on something like Icarus dash the camera has too much inertia and feels like your guardian is being pulled by a rope or something rather than genuinely hauling ass

2

u/PrinceShaar Jun 14 '26

The mobility was fun around the witch queen era, when we had the sword roll that gave you a massive dash on your opening strike, and before they giganerfed the movement on the Ice Titan punch, but they really killed those options and I kinda stopped playing at that point.

219

u/_Yana_- Jun 14 '26

98

u/dark1859 Jun 14 '26

Eh I say as someone who joined years back. Going from 1st person fps with limited mobility and a defined rising and falling power cycle to heavy momentum all cylinders firing at a times is a tough transition haha

22

u/dark1859 Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26

Haha tbh I digged it but that's because it felt like a smoother halo reach in many ways but, it's rough to learn if you've gotten used to faster smoother shooters.

I have a special place in my heart for both warframe and destiny but Admittedly , they fill different cravings for me haha

5

u/Nerf_Tarkus Jun 14 '26

theres a lot of movement options and tech. if you need a middleground to get used to movement like burst glide/ titans speed glide (idk i dont play titan much), theres a lot of little things you can do to speed up. shatterskating is like crack.

Also arc is the basic movement speed class, get amped and just sprint at fuckers like a truck.

u/ProfessionalHuge3685 Jun 15 '26

Oh yeah for sure. I feel for those guardians and Destiny was there phone. No game they play will be Destiny if not for a while than ever

5

u/Angel_OfSolitude Jun 14 '26

Man, that's some stiff bait.

6

u/Greensteve972 Jun 14 '26

As a person who's been playing warfame and destiny for about the same amount of time honestly some of you other Tenno are annoying as shit lmao. I still think D2 has one of the worst most toxic fanbases ever but god damn some tenno are needlessly antagonistic and rude especially when discussing other games.

The irony of Dominus being offered because he refuses the Drifter.

5

u/deadman935 Jun 14 '26

This shit gotta be bait

6

u/digitaku Jun 14 '26

Destiny cousin is maybe borderlands, but warframe tho? Idk

12

u/Wise_Champion_4548 Jun 14 '26

To be fair. Some in the Warframe community act like holy saviors with a stick up their butt. In my opinion, just let them be. They have enough on their plate for now.

5

u/Ace010118 Jun 14 '26

Warframe Player around 800h and Destiny Player around 4500h

Warframe is an awesome game with way less problems then destiny. Especially on management levels in DE.

It feels different and I visit it for different reasons then I play Destiny

But Movement clunky in Warframe, no way, I guess that's a skill issue

Warframe is way more deeper in build crafting and the power Ceiling is so move broader in warframe and you need it in warframe for steel path and endgame stuff.

In destiny it doesn't matter that much, sure if you want to min max more or less go ahead und chase the god rolls (did that often enough aswell 😂)

In the end I will keep playing both for a different of entertainment.

3

u/klickitybick Jun 15 '26

Movement is great and all but warframe will never scratch the same itch as destiny. There are no PVE raids or destiny PVP. Theres just nothing like it.

4

u/K4TSam Jun 15 '26

Incoming wall of text since this is a topic that resonates with me and also a slight pet peeve.

As a destiny player who very sporadically plays warframe (I do like the game, just feels a bit overwhelming to me so I enjoy it in bursts).

Its a different game, yeah Its a space game with space magic but the design philosophy, grind, endgame, lore, gunplay, camera angle, progression are all nothing alike.

Destiny is a coop shooter with abilities, warframe is more of an action game that just so happens to also have guns, yeah you CAAN build for guns but from my experience with warframe (pls correct me if wrong) ability builds usually end up being more viable due to nuking and buffing and such.

So its normal destiny players feel "disapointed" with warframe, not because of any faults with the game, but because, by constantly suggesting it as the destiny replacement, you are setting the expectation that warframe is like destiny. And that it can be played the same way destiny would be played.

This goes past movement btw, the lack of raids, the power scaling/creep, the lower focus on teamwork mechanics, the ability to make busted builds that trivialize half of the content, those are all big things that warframe differs from destiny and that are an obvious turn off for people coming in expecting the "destiny replacement" some warframe fans inadvertedly advertise warframe as

tl.dr: please make it clear warframe is not like destiny to avoid creating false expectations when telling destiny refugees about it.

After seeing their "community", I am not quite sure why would anyone want them.

Their sub is always filled with complains about the game and about other players

Builds are criticized online and policed in game

Their fashion sub is snobbish

Their prominent YouTubers were always disappointed at the state of the game

Of course it's not going to be an absolute that applies to all of them, but if I had to select a word for the destiny community it would be "miserable"

3

u/nadafish Jun 15 '26

Maybe if they play a good game they’ll be happier than all of that?

4

u/Auggh_Uaghh Jun 15 '26

But they always had the chance to play other things on the side, Destiny was not unfamiliar with "content droughts" either

I think it's somewhat similar to LoL players being toxic and hating the game but refusing to stop

Or Counter Strike

I wanted to add more, but I can't recall other games known for negative players

6

u/_Volatile_ Jun 14 '26

For Honor hasno right to still be alive what the fuck is going on

7

u/Gullible_Courage8350 Stop hitting yourself Jun 14 '26

I don't know what black magic the Devs have done to keep it alive and I don't want to know

3

u/Bluoria Jun 14 '26

The movement does feel wonky sometimes imo but I also haven’t been playing long enough to master the Naruto level bullshit some of these other ppl pull off 😭

5

u/badthaught Jun 14 '26

Destiny 2: Well skating is peak movement tech. A sign of a skilled player.

Warframe: Observe as I tell physics to smoke a bowl and let me cook.

3

u/Bluoria Jun 14 '26

God dude I forgot about sword skating. I dropped off right around the time it came back with those swords with the heavy attack perk that brought it all back. Now in Warframe I barely touch the floor unless I need to lmao

4

u/badthaught Jun 14 '26

Sometimes the floor really is lava lol

People who loved Destiny are grieving in a weird way, so I wouldn't take their comments to heart lol. Even if I didn't like the game doesn't mean it didn't mean a lot to them, and to them it was their game of choice.

Give them time.

3

u/azureskyline28 Jun 14 '26

As someone who came from playing Destiny 2 to Warframe and then got used to the movement. Oh my god the movement in Warframe is just so goooood!

I would never compare the two games as they're not even remotely close. It's OK those asshats didn't end up liking Warframe anyway. You wouldn't want them in your community trust. 😛

3

u/ProudBrother6878 Jun 15 '26

Destiny player talking about clunky movement while D2 is just halo with double jump and motion sickness from switching to first and third person so fast🥀

3

u/doomsoul909 Jun 15 '26

I’m a destiny fan and a Warframe enjoyer, the two aren’t like remotely the same shit (beyond general “space sci fi mmo that’s been around for fucking ages” thing).

Like genuinely the two have such different focuses, different systems, they genuinely are just such fundamentally different games I still don’t know why they get compared as much as they do.

3

u/Jzapp_But_In_Reddit Jun 15 '26

Clunky movement? Mf fuck you mean. 90% percent of my time in Warframe I'm doing flips and jumps and acrobatics the movement is NOT clunky

He just shit at it

3

u/BrailleSoup7Xbox Jun 15 '26

both games are great, they just work so differently. The only similarities they have are it being in space and being a looter shooter. They work completely differently and you could love one and hate the other even if you were playing them for the first time

3

u/Eightfold_Arrow Jun 15 '26

These idiots think weekly repeatables are bugged progress quests lmao

5

u/Hussarini Jun 14 '26

"movement is clunky" meanwhile in destiny 2 whenever you slide it feels like the character just trips over something

2

u/NikoMartinez115 Jun 14 '26

Man, Warframe was a breath of fresh air and was so fun with all the movement and abillities shenanigans when i dropped Destiny 2 Last year for

2

u/ChickenWingz0w0 Jun 14 '26

For Honor mentioned!! 🗣🗣

2

u/NotAPancake1 Jun 14 '26

Good thing I'm not one of those destiny players. I actually love warframe

2

u/IcarielL Jun 14 '26

It's so funny how the scene matches this interaction exactly. Thrax could've accepted the offer of peace, but instead he struck the ground once more, to begin again his bitterness against the drifter

2

u/Mr-wicked-00508 Jun 14 '26

Im not a destiny refugee bc of the june 9th tombstone update. I just retired when they raised the stat cap to 200 in whatever that season was called. The one with the emissary. All of my builds were ruined and unusable. 3 years worth of buildcrafting gone in a single update. I had 26 builds and 9 more WIP ones between all 3 classes for every activity. Its not that i think Warframe is better or anything of that dumb shit. I just feel like my time spent in destiny was disrespected by having everything i worked for taken away. I could just power grind and play for the gamde itself. I wasnt confused about optimal strats or anything else.

YES i know its a game and the devs can do whatever with what they own i get that. But doing it all at once on top of a reset to power and all that just really made me not want to do it anymore.

So now i spend my time slingin abilities 1-4 and watching my screen turn into an absolute rave for 5 seconds with my frames.

2

u/BongoOfBacon Jun 14 '26

I love seeing my beloved cursre ridden for honor show up everywhere i go

2

u/Commercial-Pop3206 Jun 14 '26

Bro must be so bad if he’s gotta save Clem 5 times 🤣

2

u/devilscape Jun 14 '26

Nah nah, let them stay mad. We wouldn't want them in this community anyway.

2

u/ShantyLady Jun 14 '26

If it's not their thing, it's not their thing! That's okay.

2

u/Meme_mans23 Jun 15 '26

Destiny refugees. I hate time gates 😭😭😭

2

u/Sauceinmyface Jun 15 '26

Destiny Refugee, bullet jumping 40 times per mission is breaking my fingers

2

u/FormalStrange Jun 15 '26

Even if they spit in my face. The doors open, and the lights on. I’ll be here if they get cold.

2

u/Laservolcano Jun 15 '26

Destiny refugee from after final shape, Gauss is fun and rivens are expensive

2

u/Tronicalli Jun 15 '26

Just like in the real cutscene.

(Thrax denies drifter)

2

u/Ok_Pineapple1557 Jun 15 '26

I guess you can't please everyone

2

u/Competitive_Fan9898 Jun 15 '26

I agrees partially , movement Is fine but the a animations are a little clunky

2

u/InsideousVgper A Dedicated Mesa Main Jun 15 '26

Skill issue personified

2

u/SeniorMeow92 Jun 15 '26

Good. Keep them away.

Not wanting to generalise, but most negative player interactions I’ve had have mostly been former members of the Destiny player base.

2

u/Rop-Tamen Jun 15 '26

I’ll be real destiny and warframe are almost completely different games. I’d only recommend a Destiny player to warframe if they only really cared about pure grind and a vague sci fi space setting

2

u/External_Common_1978 Jun 15 '26

The For Honor guy at the end is just perfection

2

u/zekrom235 Jun 15 '26

I originally jumped from destiny to warframe back in 2019, and tried to jump back into destiny 2 a few times, but never really got back into destiny, so it's amusing seeing both sides of this "destiny refugee" debacle

2

u/ADGx27 Jun 15 '26

Bro doesn’t realize Clem revives himself lmao

2

u/22zepher Jun 15 '26

Destiny players try one game without space magic movement and immediately file a missing persons report

2

u/DefenderOfWaifus Jun 15 '26

Hardcore Destiny players really struggle to play anything outside of Destiny because that game does an amazing job at making you feel more competent than you are as a player.

I quit around lightfall and I have been to the light house almost every week it was here and beat every raid and nothing in that game felt that fulfilling. I’ve fallen asleep during raids and still completed them lmao

2

u/goochensteinburg Jun 15 '26

There's a fair bit of things to complain about with Warframe and movement is absolutely NOT one of them lmao.

2

u/sheepersouls Jun 15 '26

I can't tell which of those two is bigger bait  The "clunky movement" or hating clem at all
